Angelina Jolie Cannes Style - Green vs Beige
It’s definite! Although some people voiced an opinion that they liked Angelina Jolie’s flowing beige dress, most people did not love it. Like I said earlier, I think she still looks gorgeous because she’s so radiant but I’m not crazy about the second Cannes red carpet dress.

I absolutely prefer the green dress from the Kung Fu Panda red carpet and I think most other people did as well.
Either way, I love seeing Angelina Jolie dressed up and on the red carpet. Even with a less than perfect dress, you just can’t make her unattractive. It would be hard work to make her anything other than beautiful.
As an aside, here are two other photos from the Cannes Changeling red carpet. This one is just beautiful, taken at the end of the night as they were leaving and my goodness Brad Pitt looks yummy.

And Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are truly a power couple but looking at this photo of Angelina and Clint? What a power DUO. It would have been so great to watch the two of them interacting on set, and what an honor to have him directing.

And thus wraps another year at Cannes! Next up? Seeing where the Jolie-Pitt family will head next, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt’s birthday next week, and waiting for the twins!

I don’t know about you guys, but to me, regardless what she wears, it’s so hard to take away the glow on her face. She’s looks so elegant what ever she has on, besides, don’t you think it’s much harder for a pregnant woman of twins to get dressed much less wear high hill shoes? More power to Angie, she gorgeous no matter what she wears, it’s not the dress that makes the woman really, it’s the woman that makes the dress looks good.

Definitely the Green, she looks much better in form fitting clothes. She looks beautiful in the black outfit. She should stay away from the mu mu dresses, they do nothing for her.

My fave of all is that gorgeous print dress she wore to dinner! She just looked out-of-this-world stunning in that amazing dress. We never see her in prints and she certainly looked great in that dress. The cut and how it draped her shape beautifully just made it so perfect. Even the way she wore her hair was so pretty.

I have to say, I like them both. Actually, Angelina is the ONLY woman who can make having twins, look sexy. My husband, who is Greek, says she looks like a goddess. This is not a knock against Aniston, he didn’t even know she was Greek until I told him.

Angie looks like some arabian princess totally Queen Noor and very exotic in her light jeweled gown. Brad is Brad. Dude would look good in anything.

The Bump Chic award undoubtedly goes to Angelina Jolie, tanned and glowing and six months pregnant with twins, who has made a series of spectacular entrances in fabulous marvels of maternity-ingenuity, one a custom-made, empire-line gown by Max Azria, her bump proudly leading the way underneath acres of deep olive-green swirling silk chiffon.

I prefer the green dress too but only because i fancy the pants of Angelina and it’s more revealing and tight-fitting. I think she has an amazing body so she should show it more often hehe but as for the beige one i don’t see what the big fuss about it is, she still looks amazing and i think it’s suitable for the film and the whole atmosphere..i think people are kicking up a bit too much fuss about it but hey, what’s new? I guess there’s always some who’ll criticise..i think she looks absolutely amazing, delicious and beautiful in all the pics..what a lucky man Brad is! Brad looks delicious too but i prefer his kind of grufty look with like the hats and the sunglasses rather than his clean-cut look but still..wow what a couple.. can’t wait for future news, baby names, baby genders, what’s going to happen for little Shi’s birthday..watch this space hehe and i’d like to say a HUGE thank you to Sherry for everything she does and the joy she brings me hehe

Angie wasn’t the only one doing movie business in Cannes, Brad was too. He was looking for distribution deals for Tree of Life.
And he hit the jackpot for future productions:
Reliance Big Entertainment, the media and entertainment arm of the $100 billion Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group [owned by the 6th wealthiest man in the world], Sunday announced a major foray into Hollywood by providing $1 billion development funds to Brad Pitt’s Plan B, Tom Hanks, George Clooney’s Smokehouse Productions, Chris Columbus’ 1492 Pictures, and Jay Roach’s Everyman Pictures.

I prefer the beige one. Its really modest and reminds me of Liz Taylor’s early Hollywood days (Cleopatra-esque). I love that colour on her too. I hate showing cleavage, so I imagine she feels quite safe in the bigger one.
Really love it when we all share our different opinions… thanks, Sherry.

I liked both dresses but then I don’t really know anything about fashion or style! They really are an old fashioned glamour couple when it comes to the red carpet. Angelina’s eyes are absolutely stunning in the beige dress, she’s completely bewitching. Imagine what it would be like to stand near the in real life and make eye contact with those eyes.
The “next up” part of their journey has me really intrigued - wonder where they will go, if they do decide to leave France before the birth? If the due date of August 19 is correct and taken as 40 weeks gestation exactly (even though there is probably some leeway) then that means Angelina is currently 27 weeks along (she’ll be 28 weeks on Shiloh’s birthday which is a lovely little milestone for both of them). Then again, we don’t really know if the due date is true or not. I suppose just have to wait and see.

I prefer when she wears “informal” dresses like the hippie one when she left her hotel, the black one when she went shopping or the light green one when she went out of the car. Of course she is always beautiful but I think evening gowns make her look older. And so do the hair and the make up. In my opinion, she looks better/younger/healthier “au naturel”
I thought her pregnancy would bring her cheeks back like in her prime, but she looks a bit tired instead.

Like few people on here, I also think that the caftan choice, the jewelry and the makeup make Angelina look older, but compares to the yummy yummy cutie emerald dress, it make her looks more sophisticated and gives her a dignified stance of an African queen. BTW Angelina never pretends to look younger than she is, because she’s still young after all. The green dress was okay for Kung Fu Panda, the grey one(why beige? it’s not beige I think) was perfect for Clint’s movie.
Ha ha alors les filles c’est l’invasion française sur ce site! Je trouve que c’est sympa ici, ça change des autres sites US où les forumeuses s’insultent et se tapent dessus pour des potaches. Tss. sur ce @ plus, biz!!!!!

It did take some time for me to get used to the beige dress, although the more I look at it, the more I like it. Still I like the green dress better, but the one I liked best is the white dress she wore at the Kung Fu Panda photo call with Dustin and Jack. Well, at least now that their time at the Cannes RC is over, here’s hoping the family can finally have some private time, especially during Shiloh’s birthday. Although I gotta admit, a part of me would want to see pictures, but if not getting them means the JPs are having a grand time, then I’ll forego the pics. :)

Oh I forgot to say that I love Clint Eastwood, he is great. And he was such a hunk when he was young, like in The good, the bad and the ugly. So sexxxy! :( Life is cruel but he still looks good for a 78 year old man.
(His jazz musician son -Kyle- is also cute)

I have to be honest — that beige dress looks terrible. It looks like a sack! The only thing saving it is that it is fitted out on a beautiful woman who can carry off any thing. It is so hideous. Angie is getting so big, and then to wear a loose tent…… yikes. Among the only bad clothing choices she has ever made in the last few years.

By Roger Friedman, Fox News
Clint Eastwood came to Cannes Tuesday night and made everyone’s week.
There’s a strong feeling that in this desultory year of selections, Clint may be headed to the Palme D’or prize on Sunday…The Cannes audience, which has been free with ovations this year, really went wild at the end of “Changeling.” With Clint, star Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt all present, the audience could not stop cheering and clapping. They loved this drama about a woman named Christine Collins (Jolie) in Los Angeles circa 1928 whose child disappears. But we’re supposed to suspend disbelief, which is not hard to do.
Jolie is nevertheless riveting. There are no histrionics, and I can’t recall more than one time when she cries. Otherwise her performance as a single, powerless mother with few resources is the model of restraint. She is often sublime.
Is “Changeling” Oscar material? The word around here is definitely yes. Jolie — who’s about to give birth here in the South of France to twins — will be a glowing new mother of 6-month-olds by the time her nomination is announced in January.
By the way, “Changeling” is a movie no one except Angelina wanted to make. She convinced Clint and Universal Pictures’ Ron Meyer, who set it up with Imagine’s Brian Grazer. Kudos to them.
(I didn’t know Angelina was the driving force - amazing.)

I also like the green the best, but the more I see the beige dress the better I like it. The beading around the neck looks stunning. I love her hair and makeup. In fact Angie I feel, never looks like she has makeup on. I am also wondering where they will go from here. I think it will be some place away from the crazy crowds and pap’s. She will start to feel more and more tired each week that passes. Carrying one baby is hard enough, but carrying two I am sure is hard. Hope Shiloh has a great 2nd birthday. Love this family so much.

Bottom Line: Clint Eastwood again brilliantly portrays the struggle of the outsider against a fraudulent system.
By Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter, May 20, 2008
CANNES — For only the second time in his filmmaking career, Clint Eastwood’s celebration of the loner who bucks the system settles on a heroine. Like Hilary Swank’s boxer in “Million Dollar Baby,” Angelina Jolie’s single mother, Christine Collins, takes every punch thrown at her and comes back fighting.
“Changeling” brushes away the romantic notion of a more innocent time to reveal a Los Angeles circa 1928 awash in corruption and steeped in a culture that treats women as hysterical and unreliable beings when they challenge male wisdom.
Jolie puts on a powerful emotional display as a tenacious woman who gathers strength from the forces that oppose her. She reminds us that there is nothing so fierce as a mother protecting her cub. Jolie completely shuns her movie star image to play a woman whose confidence in everything she thinks she knows is shaken to its very core. She can appear vulnerable and steadfast in the same moment. This woman has a depth she herself has never explored.

i think the beige dress probably isn’t photographing very well (i.e., it looked better in person). it would have been nice with a sash, or something to stop the mumu-ness around the middle. the green is much more of a statement, maybe a sign that jolie felt a little more stressed when dressing for the changeling premier (it’s a very important film in her career..i suspect oscar..yay!!). i think ange has a tendency to play down her looks, if only because she doesn’t want to be just another pretty face or girly girl.

You know, I think the dresses kind of represent the difference in the 2 movies. KFP was a light, happy movie - thus the green dress; and Changling is a sadder, more serious dress - thus the beige dress. However, I do like the green dress the best. She is stunning in that color!!!

http://www.nydailynews.com/lifestyle/2008/05/21/20080521_angelina_jolie_engages_in_the_big_cannes.html
Angelina Jolie made a fashion statement of mythic proportions Tuesday when she swept down the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival in a billowing caftan-style goddess gown.
The heavily pregnant Jolie played against type: She didn’t show cleavage and didn’t show leg - yet she still managed to steal the limelight on what is one of the most competitive red carpets in the world.
Instead of showing off her curves, the 32-year-old showed how (in the words of designer Reem Acra, who custom-created last night’s dress) “covering up can be more chic.”
“These are actresses who’ve already arrived,” says celebrity stylist Mary Alice Stephenson, noting the cool grownup brand of glamour also exhibited by Natalie Portman (in a ruffled purple frock) and Paltrow (who wore a simple, toga-style Lanvin dress) in Cannes this week. “These women have attention 24/7. They don’t need anymore.”
Jolie, Stephenson says, looked “fashion appropriate, elegant and above all comfortable” yesterday in her Hellenic-style caftan. “There’s an ease to the ‘goddess’ look that is very feminine and also very much a sexy party style,” says Stephenson, who as usual had a practical observation: “It’s really hot and sticky in Cannes, so it makes sense that stars are wearing loose-fitting dresses. They want to stay cool.” Especially, in Angelina’s case, when they’re dressing for three.

The dresses were appropriate for their function.
The taupe Reem Acra took getting used to, but she carried it off with class. She looked REGAL in it!

… and thanks for the info on Changeling - exciting sounding film and exciting about possible Oscar. Did she say her friend Marianne helped inspire her for the gentleness for the role, or did I imagine it?
ligaya
May 22, 2008 at 8:28 am
I don’t remember reading that Angelina said Mariane was her inspiration for her role in Changeling. Angie did say that her mom Marcheline, sweet & not outspoken but a lion when it came to her kids, inspired Ange how to play her role as a 1928 woman.
Angie compared her role as Mariane & her role in Changeling as being alike in that 2 women had to deal with being suddenly bereft of the most important person in their lives.

I’m probably the last to chime in, but I got caught up in all the Cannes stuff.
My 2 favorite RC gowns of all time are the yellow chartreuse from last year & this year’s moss/avocado/dark celery number. They’re beyond spectacular. If Angie wasn’t a little underweight from her mom’s passing last year, she’d have looked even better than she already did.

May 22, 2008 at 9:08 am
I think it does make a difference seeing something in person with the details & seeing it in a photo/video.
I wasn’t crazy about the strapless vintage Hermes Angie wore to the S.A.G. gala last year judging from the pics I saw - then I saw other pics that convinced me it was beautiful.
I can see how some people might think the caftan/muumuu wasn’t Angelina. I agree with those who said she dressed appropriately for the movie’s subject matter, and so that the spotlight would be on director Clint Eastwood.
I think one of the most sensous sights is a woman in a caftan walking - her body is concealed & mysteriously suggestive, her legs play hide & seek against the fabric, and so do her breasts. It teases the imagination.
Angie’s color was subdued - she looked wonderful with the jewel neckline, dark hair, and earrings that stood out & sparkled. She looked regal - like Alexander’s mother & Queen Noor (Raina?) - and evoked the essence of the oriental Middle East.
