Angelina Jolie for Best Actress
December 13, 2007 by Sherry

The official nominations have been revealed - Angelina Jolie is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for the 2008 Golden Globes. The nomination is for her role as Mariane Pearl in A Mighty Heart. She is in some excellent company; her fellow nominees are Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth: The Golden Age), Julie Christie (Away From Her), Jodie Foster (The Brave One), and Keira Knightley (Atonement).
Awesome news! It’s not 100% sure, there have been upsets in the past, but often a Golden Globe nominee will end up being an Oscar contender, something we’ve all been hoping for. She was so incredible in A Mighty Heart and I’m so happy to see her up for an award.
Plus, we all know that if either one of them is nominated for a large award like this that it means we’ll be seeing some Red Carpet Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie in 2008! Yay!

Thank you ligaya for your informative posts and for knowing what a fansite is. I also agree with tenika, that with so many places on the web where disparaging evryone is welcome. Why come to this gentle site to start on us fans?
I for one am excited about the nomination and hope she wins!
Extra has a feature online about hottest PDAs in 2007. http://extratv.warnerbros.com/ People can say in the comments who they think had hottest PDAs in 2007. I said Brad & Angelina, natch. (The first post said B&A were fake.)
Congratulations to Angie! She really is a fine actress. I remember watching Hackers when I was in highschool and in spite of being a “pop” movie, she exuded such a presence there. Lots of buzz for the Jolie-Pitts this week what with being the Couple of the Year (Brad and Angie by US Weekly like they need some validation from that particular magazine!), Most Influential Child (Shiloh, ff by siblings Zahara and Pax), and Angie’s nomination to GG. So, too bad for all the detractors….! If you can’t say anything good about your fellow human being, just keep quiet. At least the Angie and Brad have made their mistakes, learned from them and evolved as gracious human beings who are trying to do their part to make this world just a little bit better.
Ligaya…if you can read Tagalog…Mabuhay ang mga Jolie-Pitts…Ganyan nga, itayo mo ang bandila ng mga JPs….in English…You Go, Girl!!!!
You put up a mighty defense for these awesome family.
One more thing…I really like reading the posts in this fan site because 1) I think Sherry has done a fantastic job moderating it and 2) people are respectful of each other…So, please….if you want to post distasteful comments…go to the US Weekly website and your comments will nicely blend in….Honestly, what is wrong with our society that people are so ready to throw rocks at others…since when was falling in love and trying to help those in need so wrong?
Thanks Ligaya for your knowledge and conviction. I never knew all the stats of Angie’s accomplishments. However, I hope she wins. Playing the role of a real person is a bigger challenge than playing a fictional character. Go Angie.
SHE REALLY REALLY Deserves to WIN!
LOVE HER!
Shalom y paz, Pittwatchers! Time flies during the holidays, and it’s already the end of week 2 of the Make It Right/Pink Project. Today I read that $3.5 million of the $5 million to match Brad’s $5 million donation has been raised (http://www.thetowntalk.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071214/NEWS01/71214011). Awesome! That’s excellent news! That $3.5 million includes OUR donations – yay!
The 1st week, 14 of us gave $2425 (!!!) + 5 gave unspecified amounts + 3 made pledges. Doesn’t it feel good? This 2nd week, Akishdebaba & Heather added $65 to our total = $2490 ($10 more dollars and we will have donated the equivalent of a roof solar panel to help cut 75% off energy bills for a lifetime). Actually, I’m sure we’re over $2500 because Ranch donated an unspecified amount.
Thank you everyone – gracias, merci, salamat. Angelina & Brad & Maddox/Pax/Zahara/Shiloh would be so proud of us. The 10 houses paid for grew to 27! Celebrities who gave whole houses: Jimmy Buffett, Donna Karan, and the band Widespread Panic.
If you’re a procrastinator like me, this might have slipped off your busy holiday agenda. I found this:

Hi Ligaya
I notice that you have appeared occasionally on the SF Daily Dish in support of Brangelina. I really admire your posts and agree with what you say. I have been banned from this site for arguing with a poster called Earthmother who seems to have a pathalogical hatred of Angelina. It is sad when people take out their own frustrations and disappointments in life on a celebrity they don’t even know.
pathological I mean.
