Pittwatch.com: Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Gossip

Angelina Jolie in a French film?

by Sherry on August 31st, 2008

I don’t know how reliable this source is, but according to the Berlin AFP, Angelina Jolie would like to work on a European film, possibly even a French film with a French-speaking role.

It wouldn’t be for several years, though. According to the article, Angelina would prefer to wait until she feels she can “really speak it” before trying out for a role.

The article also mentioned that although she acts in movies, Angelina rarely watches movies herself because she doesn’t like to just sit down for two hours. She said that Brad Pitt is the big movie buff and when they try to watch something together she often either falls asleep or ends up having to pause the movie to run off to help the kids out with something.

I’d love to see Angelina Jolie in a French movie!

Update: It was also confirmed by People.

Her wanting to wait until she speaks better French reinforces all we know about her, she doesn’t do anything half way. It appears that she likes to keep on the move and doesn’t sit around to much just hanging out, watching TV or a movie, surfing on the web or reading a book. This is off topic: wonder how Brad’s 6 new houses in New Orleans will with stand Hurricane Gustav. I feel so much pain for these people along the Gulf Coast.
Alot of strange things happening weather wise and I believe that we all must live each day to its fullest, and care about our fellow man.

What is this new rating system for the posts??

It seems a bit over the top to me. I liked the more informal style better…where we are all adults and can decide what posts we need on our own !

This is the most comprehensive HURRICANE GUSTAV/KATRINA EMERGENCY RESOURCES list I’ve seen. Make It Right is on the list with categories like Volunteer Opportunities and Charitable Giving, Sustainable and Equitable Development, RESOURCES FOR LONG-TERM EQUITABLE REBUILDING, Cultural Work and Educational Reform, Environmental Justice, and Criminal and Civil Justice.

OT & personal: Heads up for Pittwatchers in Vancouver and Toronto. My stepson, Ryan Fleck’s (“Half Nelson”) second feature “SUGAR” is playing at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Vancouver International Film Festival. “SUGAR” screens September 8 at 9 pm and September 10 at 3:30 pm at TIFF08. The Vancouver International Film Festival takes place from Sept 25 to Oct 10, the screening dates/times will be posted on their website. I invite you to check “SUGAR” out.

“Sugar” explores the trials of a 19-year-old Dominican baseball player in small-town Iowa who dreams of making it to the major leagues. Screen Daily: A singular examination of sports, class and the American social fabric. New York Sun: Thoughts on the many variations of the American Dream, the struggle of immigrants hoping to assimilate into American culture, the pressures facing professional athletes, and the allure of performance enhancing drugs. IFC: Uses its main character’s journey to brush on themes of race and globalism with the lightest of touches.

I think she was asked about it @ Q&A for Cannes, whether she liked them and would consider starring in one.

Angie is a great actress but she does not speak good french and i doubt she´ll learn to speak that good to star in a French movie. learning a language gets very hard in adult age. Marianne Pearl already said that Angie had a huge accent and that her French isn´t really good didn´t she?
i would love to hear her speak nevertheless..Angie speaking French - can she get more sexy? :)

Angelina spoke a little French in the movie Taking Lives with Ethan Hawke and Oliver Martinez. Movie was filmed in Montreal. She didn’t speak a lot of French, but it sure sounded great.

Feel for NO, I hope the new homes that have been constructed can withstand the wind force and rain. I think one was to be completed on the 29th.

I have tried learning French and the thing that held me back was my inability to get past my performance anxiety. There is only one way to learn a language and that is by speaking it. I wish Angie luck and I hope she uses every opportunity to practice and learn. Boy, wouldn’t that be something if she could do a French film though. Has anyone else noticed that the French use their lips more than we do when speaking? Hurry up and learn, Angie!

I think it is nothing short of AMAZING that Angelina, with her life already overflowing, would take the time to learn French, and is ensuring that her children learn it as well. I am really impressed with her mothering.

You’re right BradPittwantsme, I think Angelina is an amazing mother. She reminds me more of the european (french and cosmpolitan well to do parents) countercultural, laid back, but deeply hands on at the same in the most real way imaginable, teaching the kids the right values, exposing them to different cultures, etc.

Sarahc Angelina’s mother was NOT French, and her ancestors are French Canadian, so she is more Canadian that any thing else. Anyway this source is probably unreliable because it does not even state what movie she wants to try out for and unless it was one hell of a movie I don’t see her going as far to learning a new language just to do a movie.
