Angelina Jolie in Changeling - First clip!

by Sherry on August 5th, 2008

Angelina Jolie in Changeling

The first video clip from Angelina Jolie’s upcoming movie Changeling has been released. This isn’t an actual trailer for the film, but it does show them moment when Angelina’s character, Christine Collins, comes to the train station to greet her son - and realizes that he is not her son at all.

Just that small clip of barely more than a minute is gut-wrenching. As a mother myself, I get the feeling that this movie is going to be gripping and moving.

Sadly, Changeling is based on a true story where a young woman’s son goes missing and is later found, and Christine Collins has to fight to get people to believe her when she says he’s not the right boy.

I can’t wait for the actual full trailer, and more importantly, I can not wait to see the movie! The movie will be released October 24 but for limited theaters. I’m not sure when the full release will be. Who else is eager to see Angelina Jolie in Changeling?

I definitely plan to see it. Angie just owns the roles she plays. Angie has great talent and draws you into the roles she plays. And Clint Eastwood movies are always good, guality movies.

I’m eager to see it! I really like Clint Eastwood and the premises of the film sounds interesting.Unfortunately it’ll be long until the release of the film in France.

This video was already released during the cannes film festival though.

This looks like it will be a very emotional movie and once again we will see how talented Angie is as an actress. I remember when I saw The Mighty Heart at home, tears were pouring down my face and I just could not stop it! It was Angie’s top notch performance but unfortunately she did not get nominated for an Oscar. Hopefully, with this role in Changling we will see her walking the red carpet at the Academy Award show next year as an Oscar nominee.

I LOVE TO SEE ANGIE IN SOME REALLY HEAVY MOVIES. THIS ONE WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THE MIGHTY HEART. IT WILL BE SHOWN IN ALL THEATERS. THE MIGHTY HEART WAS RESTRICTED, IT WAS NOT SHOWN IN ALL THE THEATERS IN THIS COUNTRY MUCH MORE IN OTHER COUNTRIES, IT WAS NOT EVEN SHOWN HERE IN HAVELOCK MAYBE BECUZ IT IS CLOSE TO THE MARINE CORP BASE. IT WAS NOT REALLY A FLOP MOVIE CONSIDERING HOW RESTRICTED IT WAS, IT WENT UP TO NO. 10 IT WAS STILL MAKING MILLIONS ON ITS FIRST WEEK. SO HOPEFULLY THIS ONE, I KNOW IT IS A TEAR JEAKER MOVIE SO BRING YOUR HANKIE OR A LOTS OF TISSUE PAPER.

Yes, I saw this with reviews of Changeling during Cannes. Ever since I read what it was going to be about, I’ve wanted to see it. I really like Clint Eastwood too (since Rawhide, with a break during the Dirty Harry movies), so I’m chomping at the bit until it gets released.

Changeling and Angelina got rave reviews in Cannes, a lot of Oscar talk. There’s a cloud on the horizon, though. Some voting Academy members were put off by all the tabloid hoopla around Angelina - they acknowledged her AMH performance and her talent, but wanted to distance themselves as if Angelina was tainted. I wonder if this was the case for Brad and AJJBCRF.

Anyone have ideas on how the tabloids’ poison can be contained? When comments were running 100 to 1 against Angelina over a year ago, I’d try to post at least one comment a day against the worst uninformed lies. I felt it was important to show that at least one person respected Angelina - and the reasons) why.

I feel that the problem with tabloids (being on the cover and in the issue) is overexposure. People, including awards voters, start thinking of actors as the celebrity personae the tabs have created. Even I have been influenced. I had to see Babel twice because the first time, I couldn’t get past looking at Brad as himself. It took a 2nd viewing to get past him and see his character.

Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable and others during Hollywood’s Golden Age were recognizable, but they could inhabit different characters because the public didn’t know much about their private lives, if anything. Which is why some actors like Johnny Depp and Leonardo di Caprio try to keep their lives a mystery as much as possible.

Unfortunately, the JPs don’t have that opportunity. They captured the world’s interest just like Princess Diana did.

Yup, Angie is not a favourite with the Academy, (at least not after the Oscar for Girl Interrupted) and I also think this has to be some kind of “you can’t have it all” attitude. However Clint is the Academy’s all time darling and this time they will have to go with him and be kinder to Angie :-) Hopefully….

Angie has always been a well-respected actress, despite what the tabs always write. With all the sex, drugs and wackiness that goes on in the entertainment industry, there is no way Angie’s did any thing worse or more wacky did others in the industry. I think she was young and out grew her early ways. But her heart is good and she is dedicated humanitarian who is doing very positive things for others. Her talent was never questioned. I think the media wanted to box her into a negative image, but most people admire and like her. There will always be negative, envious people because Angie and Brad attract so much attention but talent, heart, dedication and charisma always wins out. Brad and Angie have boat loads of talent, heart, dedication and charisma. The Academy is elitist - so who knows what will happen next year. We will just have to wait and see. I hope the Academy does not cut off its nose to spite its face, like it did last year. Cate Blanchant nominated again for Queen Elizabeth. That slot should have gone to Angelina. Americans are not that in love with Queen Elizabeth or Cate Blanchant - if another Queen Elizabeth movie or performance gets nominated again I will scream, perhaps at the ocean.

“other Brangelina fan” I’m a American & a big fan of Cate Blanchett. I loved her in Elizabeth but, I agree w/you” on the Elizabeth’s I & II. I DON’T need to see yet another one.
I will admit that I love the Tudor’s on Showtime about a young King Henry & his friend Charles Brandon, played by the very sexy Henry Cavill…..where was I going with this?….LOL…
Oh yeah, that slot SHOULD have gone to Angie. Could you imagine AJ & BP in something like Alexander or even Troy? The chemistry “they” have is undeniable. I know that most couples don’t do well on screen, ahem…Affleck & Lopez –but– with B & A, they *created* their own chemistry BEFORE they WERE a couple. Ala.. Hepburn/Tracy, Taylor/Burton, etc.

Angelina Jolie Endorsement Sought By Both Obama, McCain Campaigns

    Wilshire and Washington | August 10, 2008 04:31 PM http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/10/angelina-jolie-endorsemen_n_118035.html

Remember the rumor that the Obama campaign had rejected the Jolie-Pitt’s participation? Remember when the JP’s stated that they hadn’t reached out to Obama, and when Obama’s people denied that they had rejected Angelina and Brad? I think the article below is probably more on the speculation side than hard news. It’s from a blog on the intersection between entertainment and politics, and is carried by the Huffington Post. (I used to think that the HuffPost was a hard news left-of-center blog, I’ve since learned that it’s a news aggregator so it doesn’t necessarily endorse everything it posts, and Bonnie Fuller, erstwhile former editor of the Star (I think), contributes a column(!?).

Movie Biz 101: Not only does Angelina not have a publicist, she doesn’t have an agent.

    http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117990274.html?categoryId=2526&cs=1

    No representation has risks, rewards

“I think it’s very important and incredibly valuable to have an agency behind you,” says Jolie’s longtime manager Geyer Kosinski (and onetime agent), noting that she is an exception to the rule.

In fact, Jolie is an unusual case, at least among actresses, because filmmakers develop and write projects specifically for her — a rarity for female thesps who thus benefit from being part of a large agency and seeing material earlier than they would otherwise. Studios are even willing to tweak screenplays written for male actors between the ages of 25 and 40 and develop them as Jolie vehicles, in an effort to entice the actress.

Additionally, Jolie, who has been agentless since 1997 (with the exception of a three-month stint with CAA), is only interested in acting in one project a year — limiting the need for an agent.

There was oscar buzz at Cannes but one thing that really saddens me is that even if Angie did win I have a strong gut feeling that the tabloids will taint her win with trash like saying she doesn’t deserve it or bribed someone.

The tabloids have just really ruined Angie’s public appearance. It’s really a shame because Angie is a great Actress, Humanitarian, Mother, and Person.

Tabloids really need to stop making things up. Gossip is one thing but fiction is another.

I’m afraid the tabloids’ lifeblood and reason for being are lies, lies, and more lies. That’s what seems to capture the public’s attention - salacious ‘reports’ on celebs’ sex lives, addictions, and trivialities like parties they attended.

What I don’t get is why time and time again people continue believing the tabloids when they’ve been proven to be liars. Is it that people get amnesia from issue to issue? How many times have the tabs printed the details of Angelina and Brad’s upcoming weddings, then followed up with details of their breakups? Zahara has something wrong with her legs, Shiloh’s autistic. Is it that people like negative stories because they secretly hate celebs, at the same envying their wealth, fame, and glamor? Is it that people don’t care if tabs’ stories are true or not, they just like to amuse themselves by making snarky comments about celebs’ lives, judging and feeling superior to them? Anyone, anyone?

Actually, Angie and kids are rarely photographed in public but they are always in tabloid continuously. So, some people think that they are always in public to get attention and attact them.

Ligaya, if Angelina has no publicist or agent, when a producer or studio has something that they want to get to her to look at, how do they get in touch with her.
Also Ligaya, maybe you could inform our new members to our community about your family link to show business. This way they realize that you having an understanding of how things are done.

    Great point, Margaritam.

Mary Ann, I believe Angelina’s longtime manager Geyer Kosinski takes care of that. They’ve collaborated a long time together. I guess he channels everything (except the worthless, of course ;-) ) to Angelina, gives her his opinion, and she does the rest. She may look for projects on her own too. Angelina’s the one who tells Geyer when she’s ready to make another movie and what kind (action, drama, etc.) of script to look for.

My son, Ryan Fleck, wrote and directed his first feature “Half Nelson” – for which Ryan Gosling was nominated best actor Oscar. Ryan F.’s 2nd feature “Sugar” will be released by Sony Pictures Classics in 2009, just in time for baseball season – it’s about a poor, young man from the Dominican Republic who’s recruited into the minor leagues and his experiences. My other son (I won’t name him because he’s not public) is a film editor currently working on When in Rome (Anjelica Huston, Jon Heder – Napoleon Dynamite, Will Arnett – Arrested Development). He also worked on Frontline: The Storm, Factory Girl and the Nanny Diaries.

My sons know *way lot* more than me since they’re in the business. OTOH, I’ve been a movie fan since 1960, very curious and interested in how movies are made and marketed the people who make them, its role in pop culture, etc. - so I know a little. :-)

OK, there are a few things I quibble with, but overall, this is one woman’s appreciation of Angelina’s beauty and fashion sense:

    Susannah Frankel: Ready To Wear

Fashion issue of the week: where on earth did Angelina Jolie get “that nightie”? I love Angelina Jolie. Despite her best efforts to be humdrum, to fit in with us mere mortals, she positively radiates superstardom. She’s not averse to stepping out in a tent of a dress, pregnant or otherwise, and preferably a grey one, and still she upstages anyone else in their glittering finery on the red …

    ‘Changeling’ highlights N.Y. festival

    By DADE HAYES

Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling” will make its North American preem as the centerpiece of the 46th New York Film Festival, the Film Society of Lincoln Center said Tuesday.

    Fest runs Sept. 26-Oct. 12.

Universal’s “Changeling,” which drew plaudits in Cannes, stars Angelina Jolie as Christine Collins, a single mother in 1928 Los Angeles who embarks on a quest for justice when her 9-year-old son goes missing.

Unlike downtown’s comparative upstart Tribeca, the New York Film Festival remains a small-scaled, tastemaking affair featuring the cream of the international crop.

I took a look at the new girl that will play Lara Croft and I have to say..she does not do the character any justice. Lara Croft animated does not look as gorgeous but when Angelina gave life to the animation..she rocks it. Angelina would have been wonderful. I will not see this next movie because it would not be the same. YOu cant get into it when you know the last two was someone else. Its just not the same. Plus..Angelina does own the role..once shes done it..no one can fit that shoe. This new Lara Croft does not look tough and exotic enough. I have been wishing for another sequel but..nevermind since its going to be played by someone else. That truly sucks in my opinion.
