Angelina Jolie in the hospital, waiting for the twins!

July 1, 2008 by Sherry

According to the French press, Angelina Jolie is currently in the hospital in Nice. She’s at the Lenval Hospital in the maternity ward and is not in any danger - she’s there for observation, but will almost undoubtedly remain in the ward until she gives birth to the Jolie-Pitt twins.

Angelina Jolie ready for her twins

Although the buzz had been that Angelina wasn’t due until sometime in August, it was never completely certain whether that was a ruse to throw the press and paparazzi off. Also, twins do often come earlier than expected.

No one is entirely sure when Angie was admitted to the hospital, maybe my jokes about secret underground tunnels leading out of the chateau were true!

Stay tuned for updates - but the twins are on their way sooner rather than later. Good luck Angelina! Everyone at PittWatch is wishing you a safe and wonderful birth!

anyone want to make a guess at their (twins) names? All their children have such unusual names it will be hard to guess. maybe one after her mother. Wishing the Jolie-Pitt clan the best of luck for an easy birth and healthy babies and mom.

    We all love you

  2. Loren says:

I hope Angie is having them, it has to be a bit uncomfortable being pregnant with 2 baby’s kicking, growing in the last month. I also hope she is very close to term. I am excited like everyone else to know, the names, gender (I am hoping one of each) of the babies. So Angie hang in there, hope you have a safe delivery, God bless you and Brad. Sherry thanks for the updates will continue to check your site to see if the story is confirmed soon :)

  3. Sasha says:

Everyone at PittWatch AND YOUR FANS WORLD WIDE ARE wishing you a SAFE and WONDERFUL birth!

  4. marsala says:

37% of twins are born premature. Although with Shiloh being cesarean and the comments from the hospital, Angies delivery is most likely planned. Let’s all pray for a safe delivery.

  5. mnlrjv says:

wish the jolie pitts the best of luck. LOVE you ange

  6. Jackie says:

Oh my Gosh how exciting!!!I’ve heard that Angie will most likely name of her twin girls after her Mother,Marcheline.I agree their children’s names are unusual but that’s what makes them so special.I just can’t wait to see them.Hope Angie’s doing well and all goes well too.

  7. Debra says:

I just saw an Ap on Cnn about her being in the hospital. I myself am hoping for a boy/girl combo. Not that it is any of my business, but I do love them both. I saw in her last print interview that Mama and Papa Pitt were on standby to come and help with the little ones. I wonder if they are on their way now. Much hope and prayer that all is well with them. I am really excited. Yeah…..

  8. Wanjiru says:

I wishg the lovely couple well and wish Angie safe delivery. Can’t wait to see the lovely babies

  9. Passerby says:

    This is exciting!!! =]

Gonna try to be online twenty four seven now so I don’t miss the births. =]

  10. dhc says:

If the birth is not imminent as the French articles suggest, chances are that she is showing signs of labor and that they have her in the hospital to prolong the pregnancy as long as possible. She may have had some labor that they have ceased with medicines. If the August 19 due date is true she is now 33 weeks (out of 40), which probably means the babies are viable, but it could still mean a long intensive care stay. Obviously the closer to 40 weeks she gets the better, but by now they know the babies’ relative size and their lung capacities. I just hope Angelina and the twins are well after the birth. If she was in for a planned C-section, she would not be there long before the surgery itself.

That gives comments from a hospital rep and such.

  12. catty says:

I pray for safe deliver too. I love angie and Brad.

  13. Nisha says:

She never said her due date was August 19th. Dustin Hoffman did, jokingly.

She DID say in May, however, that she had a couple of more months to go. Which would be July.

  14. isacutie says:

This is exciting news. I pray that she’ll have a safe and easy delivery, and that the she and the babies will be healthy.

  15. BlessBrangelina says:

Exactly Nisha! Couple of months she said so July.

People are reporting Dustin’s August, as if Angie said it. Which she DIDN’T! Even Newsweek.com is at it!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. chevjuls says:

I don’t know if it is TRUE, just letting you know what I read from “livenews.com.au”

    2/07/2008 8:25:00 AM.

Angelina Jolie has given birth to twins at a hospital in France.

French celebrity magazine Closer is reporting that Jolie, who turns 33 today, delivered her twins this morning.

The actress and partner Brad Pitt, 44, already have four children, six-year-old Maddox, four-year-old Pax, three-year-old Zahara, and two-year-old Shiloh.

Jolie and Pitt had been staying in the south of France so the actress could rest in the lead up to the birth.

Suspicions that Jolie was about to give birth were sparked yesterday when she was admitted to hospital to “rest”.

“Ms Jolie came to the hospital last night as part of a pre-planned rest period, before she gives birth,” Nadine Bauer, spokeswoman for the hospital, told In Touch Weekly magazine.

“The visit has been planned for a long time, there are no complications. She is just resting.”

The bidding has already started for the first pictures of the twins, with New York media offering to pay a massive $20 million for the exclusive shots.

  17. dhc says:

Actually, in May, Angelina sad she had a “few” months to go. I saw the interview. The reporter even repeated it to make sure that is what she said. That was in line with what Dustin said whether he was joking or not. I’ve also recently read that the French have a habit of hospitalizing mothers for a period of time prior to birth especially with twins. So, it could be awhile yet, and hopefully it will be.

  18. dhc says:

Chevjuls, the original report by the Closer was retracted and Angelina’s birthday is June 4. Check the Kung Fu Panda interview with Jack Black on the Today show to check out what Angelina had to say about when she was due.

  19. irma says:

I wish Angie & the twins good health & for Angie safe delivery. After the block buster showing of Wanted another block buster, the arrival of the Jolie-Pitt twins. I am so excited.Maybe she will give birth on July 4th. What a big way to welcome the twins. Lots of fireworks.
    God bless the Jolie-Pitt.

  20. Mary Ann says:

I pray for a safe and healthy delivery. God Bless Brad, Angelina, Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh.

  21. ruby says:

I am predicting the twins will be born sometime this weekend. I read her Ob/Gyn will fly in; last time he came on the weekend, I assume, so as not to interrupt his practice in the U.S.

  22. ligaya says:

I pray that mom & babies are healthy, and that Angelina will have a safe & easy delivery. I also pray that Brad & the kids are doing well. I wonder how many hours they stay visiting mommy, and how they’re entertaining her.

You know how In Touch reported that the hospital spokesperson told them such & such? It makes it sound as though In Touch had been told the info personally/exclusively. All the other tabs are claiming the same thing.

What really happens is the same as what happened in Paris Hilton’s case with the law officers holding a press conference outside with all the media present; the officers then read an official statement & the media asks questions afterwards. But each media outlet impies they were told ‘personally’ & don’t mention all the other media that were there at the same time & were also told ‘personally.’

  23. Lucy says:

I was also thinking it might be July 4th Irma. Remember Shiloh’s date of birth was the Memorial Day weekend. I just hope for good health and safe delivery.

  24. cristine says:

GUYS LETS ALL PRAY FOR ANGIE. MAY SHE HAVE A SAFE AND UNEVENTFUL DELIVERY. MAY GOD BE WITH HER THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS!

  25. cristine says:

IRMA I REALLY WISH ITS JULY 4TH ‘CUZ MY B-DAY IS JULY 5TH! CANCER IS OUR ZODIAC SIGN AND BOY DO I KNOW THE CHARACTERISTICS OF PPL BORN UNDER THIS SIGN! LOL!

  26. ligaya says:

Wouldn’t that be something if the babies were born on the holiday? Before I get too busy, an early Happy Independence Day/4th of July to all in the U.S.!

This holiday weekend, hubby & I will finally get our home & car emergency disaster plans & kits together to prepare for earthquakes/fires/mudslides.

I’m going to see Wanted & Kung Fu Panda again this weekend as a vote of confidence for Angie. The boys at boxofficeprophets are very surprised that Wanted & KFP did so well. They really underestimate Angie’s movies. They think Wall-E & Hancock are going to wipe out KFP & Wanted. “It’s going to have average legs for a summer film, which is to say, monster drops after the second week and out of theatres in six to eight weeks.”

  27. Becca says:

Twins tend to be premature. Single births are normally around 38-40weeks, whereas twins are around about 32-36weeks so there is a chance that they could come soon. But my grandma, who is French, say that in France alot mothers go to the hospital early as in a week ormaybe more, just like dhc said.
    *Feels smart.* Lol
Oh, I can’t wait to here more news.

  28. Dudu says:

Im so excited!Wish you have a safe delivery sweety:X
    Thank you Sherry!

  29. French Girl says:

    Hi every one!
I’m back. I loved New York. What stroke me is that you Americans are just like us lMAO this may sound silly but people really fantasize so many wrong things about people in other countries! (a lot of bad things about Americans ihas been said) So stupid! We’re all the same, just trying to make a living and be as happy as we can…
Anyway, about Angelina. I’m happy that here in France the media aren’t obsessed with her. I thought it would be worse. They hardly talk about her, even if they’ll start talking more now obviously.
    Bye ***

  30. maja says:

My sister and I are twins and we were born just three days before the due date. Also, twins usually are born by cesarion section, not by natural birth.I’ve red somwhere that Angie isn’t going to give birth right away as she came to the hospital..Hope that will happen sooner that later:)

  31. Rach says:

Goodluck Angelina! We love you! I’d love for one of the babies to be a boy but i’m so excited i’ll be overjoyed no matter what! I’m guessing she’ll use atleast one French name for one of her babies. Wow there’s going to be two! Hehe double the dose of excitement.

  32. cheryl says:

according to the “French News” on my cable TV,
Angies Doctor will be giving a press conference later today, or i guess this am in US

  33. Matilda says:

The Associated Press just put out the latest news: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h2_IyFabYfllWKbrFuPHs6X2nqOQD91LN3V80

Apparently Brad just visited this morning with one of the children (it doesn’t say who but there’s a picture of him in the car). And you’re right Cheryl, it looks like the obstetrician, Dr. Michel Sussmann, will give a press conference in a few hours. Exciting times! I hope for a safe and joyful birth for Angelina. One day soon we’ll find out the names of these beautiful babies. I can’t wait.

  34. Lucero says:

Did Angie ever confirm whether or not the twins were fraternal or identical?

  35. Char says:

I hope Angie has a safe delivery with their twins.Maybe one of them is a boy and the other one is a girl. These things do happen you know.Anyway, I hope all goes well. I just love this couple and anxious to see the new pics of the twins. I will keep them in my prayers…

  36. sarita says:

I’m sure Angie is going to have a C-section, as she had a C-section previously with Shiloh and she’s having twins (”once a C-section always” is not necessarily true, though). I think it could be a week or more before the babies are born, though it will be interesting to hear what her doctor says in the press conference today. I’ll be thinking of Ange and the family all day and sending my good vibes their way :)

  37. Mary Ann says:

Why have a scheduled press conference later today if not to annouce the birth of the twins. This is Angie’s personal doctor who would not be making rounds or visiting other patients. I could be real far off base but maybe the C-section will happen sometime mid day. I am hoping for one boy and one girl. But if it is two girls, I sure liked the names that were reported earlier when ET got it all wrong. Doing some thinking here as I am writing and if Brad is not at the hospital then maybe I am real wrong. Brad would be in with Angie while the C-section was going on.
God be with the Jolie-Pitts and their family.

  38. ray says:

hmm, i wondered if the twins had arrived? i’ve been seeing information from the newspapers that jolie had successfully given birth to the twins!

  39. Laura says:

I was just on http://www.people.com/people and it said that AJ’s doctor is going to make a statement and to stay tuned. I just thought I’d give everyone on here the heads up!

  40. ligaya says:

    Welcome back, French Girl!

Hi, Lucero - that’s my last name. :-)
