Angelina Jolie – Iraq photos

Angelina Jolie visits Iraqi refugees

Angelina Jolie does her part as UNHCR goodwill ambassador, visiting refugees in Iraq. She visited the Al Waleed camp, a makeshift refugee shelter that is being used by about 1300 people who are unable to leave Iraq to escape to Syria across the border.

According to the Huffington Post, Angelina flew without staff via commercial flight, just as she did when she went to Darfur, taking only Mickey with her for security. I’m sure that the UN has its own security measures in place but I think it says a lot about Mickey Brett as a human being that a) he’s the only person she wanted to bring with her to a dangerous area, and b) he was willing to go.

I still don’t have any news as to when Angie will be safely arriving back home other than the knowledge that her trip was to be for a “few days”.

    thanks, sherry.

    so sad what’s happening there.

  2. checkers says:

    thanks again Sherry!!!

yeah, ITA neela, it is very sad, so many displaced people and what this war has caused… it makes you just think and reflect on how lucky we are…

she does good on all levels, kind hearted, beautiful in and out and walks the walk, what more can I say, we bow down Angie!!!

I have a son in law in the US Army, got hurt after his 2nd tour of duty in Iraq & still wants to go back & serve, he is still in active service but serving in Germany, after that I don’t know. I just wished, people will stop hating each other & stop fighting, so many innocent lives & soldiers died because of the war. I support our troops & always will. My husband is retired from the US Navy, I have 3 children born in different parts of the world. being a military wife I feel for this people. Angelina, is such a humanitarian ambassador, I can’t do what she is doing, I don’t have the energy nor the courage. I volunteer & donate for charity, that’s all I can do in my own way. we have to be grateful for Brad & Ange & to all the volunteers who without their help, more people will suffer. We should all be gratefull to all of them.

right, checkers. angie’s a woman of action. it’s very admirable how angie has really defined her purpose. she wears so many hats, and she’s thankful for every title/role she holds in life.

and i agree with you, too. the situation in iraq puts a lot of things in perspective for many of us. my sis and i were just talking about how it’s so hard to empathize with the people there because we’ve never experienced anything as horrible as they have. we can only sympathize and show compassion (particularly through actions). unhcr is very lucky to have angie. she takes her position very seriously.

  5. Neela says:

irma, ITA with you, too. a lot of people should be commended for their efforts in trying to make a difference.

  6. viva brangelina says:

and still i bet some haters will say she did this for photo op.
i too cannot do what angie does. i have no courage to do things like this. doing charity and making donations are way easier. but this? visiting a war torn area? gosh! God Bless Angelina! she makes a lot of people to realize that there are worst thing that is happening in another side of this world, and how we should be greatful for the peaceful life that we have.

  7. Lucy says:

Angie is an outstanding person. Brad must be very proud of her. There is an interesting article from Lainey today about Angie’s Iraq trip. That Marine guy is having the time of his life. Look at all of them surrounding Angie. Hope she comes home to Brad and kids safely soon.

  8. cristine says:

this is kind of off-topic, but popsugar has even more pics of brad and zahara. those two are so adorable.

anyway, angie’s safety is certainly of concern, but i’m sure she will be coming back safely to her family. :)

  14. Andrea says:

Look at the bottom pic and the look on her face – she looks overwraught and upset. Can’t fake that, you can tell she *really* cares.

  15. linda says:

She’s is unbelievable. Wonderful and courageous person. Only few people on earth can do what she’s doing, in the world of being a celebrity. To me she’s a warrior woman on her own way.

Hurray for all the soldiers that risk their lives for peace and for people like Angelina Jolie.

  16. Tixinhajolie says:

is because that i love angie so much… i admire her..she is a great great person!!

  17. Neela says:

Andrea, thanks for providing the popsugar link. I’d have done it, but I had already shut off my laptop.

  18. Melissa says:

  19. liliwaton says:

angelina is truly an amazing woman..she got a big heart..how could she do all these??i guess her love for her kids and family gives her all the strength all day long..congrats..more power to brangelina!!

  20. irma says:

People say , Ange is back home. Maybe, we will see more of her in a few days, I really like for her to go to Venice with Brad, she needs to be with him alone for a few days. I’m sure the kids will be okay under the care of their nanny & her assistant.

  21. Lizabet says:

Kind of reminds me of the late Princess Diana.

  22. irma says:

They are both admired women of all times, Diana was down to earth just like Ange, it’s like Ange is continuing Diana’s legacy. They are both remarkable women. I hope &, pray that The Jolie-Pitt’s have continues blessings.

  23. tabby says:

thanks sherry for sharing angie’s photos with us

  24. janelle says:

I was one of the lucky soldiers who got to see her and shake her hand today. I have so much respect and love for her. She could be doing ANYTHING with her time and popularity. But she chooses to put others before herself. She looks at what’s wrong with the global big picture and does what she can to fix it. She knows she has power and is using PR for the benefit of others. It takes an outstanding person all around to do that. Thank you Angelina Jolie for coming out to see us and doing what few people can and even fewer people will!!!
