Angelina Jolie is still a Wanted woman

One of Russia’s biggest filmmakers Timur Bekmabetov recently announced that he is gearing up to film a sequel to Wanted – and he has also figured out a way to bring back Angelina Jolie’s character, Fox.
I’m really not sure how he intends to incorporate Fox into a new story unless he uses her as some kind of flashback character. I’d actually love to have seen a prequel instead, something that tells more of the story of how Fox came to be an assassin and her life before that, maybe some of her training. Still, I’m intrigued. If it’s a flashback, then Angelina’s role would be relatively small and probably wouldn’t take very long to shoot. It’s actually even possible that they might have extra footage that was never used in the first film that they could use in this new one, depending on how they handle it. Very interesting!

What do you think of this new possibility? I enjoyed the first film and I really don’t mind violent movies at all, but I’d still be somewhat less eager to see Wanted 2 if it didn’t have Angelina Jolie in it.

I wouldn’t be as eager to see Wanted without Angie in it either. I know some people didn’t like the 1st one as much but I fully enjoyed it. They had some pretty new/exciting action sequences so I’m curious to see what else they would do to keep it inventive.
The truth is I’ll watch anything with Angie so I hope her part in the new movie is even better than the first one.

Wanted is not her best movie but she’s really beautiful in it! I hope to see what they’ll do in Wanted 2.
The way I read it, it says “…to bring back Angelina Jolie’s character, Fox..”. Just the character but not Angie herself. It would be great if Angie is back but I would prefer her to be in the new Bond movie. Anyway it sounds like a PR to me. Anything with Angelina Jolie in it seems to be “selling”.
As long as Angie is happy with everything & her family, it is fine with me.

I Read that the producers of wanted2 have yet to even sign up james mcavoy to wanted 2 yet. so we’ll see what happens with this. the report says wanted2 will not film till october any-way.
the movie would be boring without Angie. i didn´t like the first one, but it was good anyway only because she was in it. her face always looked so amazing in Wanted…..
i would not want her in a bond movie….as a bond girl, those “weak” girly women bond always gets into bed….rather as the bad guy in bond THAT would be really cool…
i am a bit confused too. i think they’re making a prequel instead of sequel since Timur wants to reprise Angie’s character. i think i’ve read somewhere last year when this was still a gossip that the movie will focus about how Fox was recruited and trained and etc. i’m not sure though but that’s what i remembered. if so, then there is no way James McAvoy would be in the movie? did Timur mentioned James? i don’t know. i guess we’ll just have to wait…
anyway, i love this movie and i am very happy they’re making another one because it was a box office hit. and also, i hope to see James here, i thought he played Wesley Gibson very well. he made the movie more entertaining.
I think I must disagree. I wouldn’t call the bond girl’s “weak girly woman”. They represent the decade they were filmed in and the newer bond girl’s are definitely strong woman.
As for the possibility of a new Wanted movie I would love that but then I’m a sucker for all comic book movies.
@kim: no matter how strong they are they all get seduced by Bond and thats kinda weird and what i actually meant to say with “weak”. he gets them all and thata makes them look “weak” know what i mean i kinda say it in a complicated way sorry:D – this is just IMO no role i would see Angie in….;)
@angela: i heard that stuff about the movie beeing focused on Fox, but it was gossip and i don´t know if they would really go through with it, although i would find it great!
I don’t believe getting seduced by bond makes you weak, just smart (I also don’t think the seduction is all one sided, I would even call it seduction maybe sexual tension would be a better term). I would have loved to seen AJ as a bond girl a couple of years ago but I think she is too famous for it now to do it.
I’m just hoping Angie will have a ‘family’ break soon; I’m sure she said she’d plan to last year. Hope the JPs have a summer holiday together.
Maybe it will indeed be a prequel. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I have been thinking about this a lot lately, so I thought I would post my thoughts.
Everyone is always talking about how they hope the family will have some time off soon and as summer approaches I see the comment more and more. How much time off does a family need. I know my husband and I only get 3 weeks holiday a year and we both work at the same time. I am sure that this family has had at least triple that so far this year and one of them is always at home with the kids while the other is working. I’m not trying to be rude but please they don’t really work that much and they make a lot of money doing a job that they enjoy.
I just had to get that off my chest, thanks for listening.
Phoebe, I totally agree with you . . . I can’t see Angelina as a Bond “girl.” First of all, it seems that only actresses who need the work become Bond girls and secondly, Angie doesn’t need to further her career by playing a Bond girl. Those women are weak in my opinion, no matter what decade they are filmed in. (I must admit that I am truly NOT a Bond fan. I actually cannot stand those movies and I haven’t seen one since Sean Connery.)
As for “Wanted 2″ I don’t see it being made with Angelina in it. She has said she will take a year off before filming again and my thoughts were that her next film will be the “Scarpetti” movie. Then there is the “Kung Fu” sequel (of course, that doesn’t take much time to do). Also, Brad is doing the “Moneyball” movie this summer and, at some point, he will be doing the “Lost City of Z” movie. So, I don’t know how Angelina will be able to film a new “Wanted” beginning this Fall/Winter!! I can’t imagine she actually would want to do it or a Bond movie when she already has a movie lined up.
Whatever Angelina does is fine with me but I hope she keeps her word and spends a year with her kids without the distraction of moviemaking.

Anyway, I really dislike the Bond movies. They are so freaking BACKWARD!! Women are always objects. They make me very angry. And, why would anybody think Angelina would want to play second fiddle to Daniel Craig who isn’t nearly as famous as she is?? It would be a step back for our Angie!!
wow, I never knew the bond movies brought up such emotions in people (or should I say woman). I always thought they were just fun movies. I never thought of the woman as objects, I thought they were strong woman with a sense of their own sexuality.
LouAnn, I don’t think Angelina thinks about things like who is more famous when she chooses a role. You could argue that many of her co-stars aren’t as famous as she is, but then it would get to a point where she could only be in movies with about three other people if that was her criteria. That kind of thing is more along the lines of Spencer Pratt.
I wouldn’t mind seeing her as a Bond girl for something sort of different, but I do actually think I’d prefer to see her as the bad girl, the enemy that Bond has to take down. It would be fun!
As for her time off, if she has a minimal role that can be filmed in a couple of weeks, I really don’t see any problem with that. And let’s not forget that the director found a WAY to bring Fox into the new movie, he didn’t say he had approached Angie about it at all yet – and like I said, if it’s just flashbacks they may have everything they need already from extra footage!
Kim – I’m with you on the time off. I’m going away for almost 3 weeks this summer but because of the nature of my work (which is essentially freelance writing) I can’t actually take all that time off. I’ll have to bring my laptop with me and work my butt off first thing every morning so that I can enjoy the rest of the day. I wish I could get as much time off as celebrities do!
I absolutely loved Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale. She is the best Bond girl in my book because she goes against the Bond girl stereotype. It wud be weird to have Angie in a Bond film, but it would reunite her with Daneil Craig onscreen and they’re both fantastic, but Bond is s’pose to be the main character and Angie’s characters, even if they’re “suporting” seem to always become a main character and. I don’t know if Bond producers would want someone that big. I liked Wanted a lot and I adore the director’s work so I’m looking forward to the sequel even tho they aren’t usually very good.
Angie would be great in any action movie, she was good in Wanted but she was fantastic in Tomb Raider movies. As a bond girl, it would be great if she would be the nemesis of James Bond and not one of his women. Anyway I watch any movie where Angelina is on…By the way guys , may I know the title of AJ’s movie where she co star with Ryan Philippe? I’ve been wanting to watch that. Thanks.
Cindy, that movie is entitled PLAYING BY HEART. Angie was really funny in that movie. You’ll love her bubbly character there.
Kim, i have to agree with you. And also may i add, she may have said that she’ll probably make 1 movie per year to spend more family time but i don’t see anything wrong if she changes her mind about it. I mean, she’s young and very talented and in demand right now. I’m sure she can always make time for family even if she’s working – just like all working mother’s do. And to think they’ve got the coolest job in the world because they’ve got tons of breaks and they can bring the kids and partner to work.
If AJ wanted to star in a Bond movie. I would think of a role such as Pussy Galore had. And I think she was a pilot too. What say you all?

I liked Wanted, and it would be interesting to see how Timur would make it work to bring back Fox. I wonder if Angie would still be interested though. Oh well, as a fan I’m just willing to wait and see what movies they do decide to make.
I only watched Wanted b/c of her. I wouldn’t have liked it if she wasn’t in it. If she does do a sequel I hope it will be b/c they offer her a huge amount of money.
I enjoyed very much Wanted & I will be watching another Wanted movie if Angie will be there again. As other fans said, I don’t know how this will fit in the Jolie-Pitt’s schedules when Wanted starts late Winter, she said she will be off for a year not unless they really talked to her, begged her to do Wanted again & Brad said ” yes”. They always have a back up plan so we will see. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
Sherry, yes Angelina does star in movies with people less famous than she but she is the STAR not the second fiddle, which is what she would be in a Bond movie. I just don’t think a Bond movie would be the right move at this stage of her career. It’s a step down, in my opinion. The woman is a multiple award winner. She doesn’t need Bond. It would be like going back to TV.
Maybe she can return in Wanted if they could bring her back to life in full force as some kind of a bionic woman? In flashback scenes, they can be minimal but as bionic she can appear in the whole movie? LOL!!! Just saying because Wanted would never be the same without her.
I am still unclear of this sequel. I don’t think Angie agreed to this movie yet. In the video, the announcer made a comment that she was thin but so beautiful.
yehey! another Wanted movie! i still don’t understand how they will bring Angie’s character back.. but i do hope the movie will focus on her.. i want to see her do more movies this year because maybe next year we won’t be seeing her..

I enjoyed Wanted so much that I watched it 4 times in the cinema on different days. I really like it because of Angelina Jolie. Her facial expressions & actions scenes are spectacular.
It will not be the same without her in Wanted 2. The impact will be different. I may still watch it but not really looking forward to it. If ever she would do Wanted 2, I hope she had longer scenes.

When Brange Hide they really know how to hide. when was the last time we’ve seen all of them. I wonder where they are, LA, NO. It’s great they can keep out of site but for us fans, I am going through withdrawal. I keep searching the internet for any news about them. Tasha, I love what they say about Brad. The devotion to his kids, the ability to land, arguably, the most gorgeous and (notoriously unlandable) woman in the world.
That is so funny, there is where some of the facination lies , we still can not believe that they both land each other, or that Brad has really land the woman that most men were afarid to go after. ( they say beautiful women are the lonliest because men are afraid to ask them out)
I wouldn’t say that AJ was the star of Wanted. She was more of a major supporting actor. AJ is not always the star, I have seen lots of movie were she is the supporting actress. If you want I could go spend some time and see how many movie she was the star and how many she was a supporting.
As for AJ “keeping her word”, what ever, she says things in interviews in an offhanded manor (without thinking fans hang on her every word) if something comes up that she wants to do she will do it. She has every right to change her mind.
Yes CHRISTY I agree about beautiful women are the loneliest, I am so lonely thank god I’m already married, or I don’t know what I would do. LOLOLOL
films typically last 3 months to shoot, and then, actors can have a year off or at least some good long months off before they start shooting their next project. that’s still a lot of time they get to spend with their kids compared to other working mothers. besides, it takes some time before a film is released, too.
before salt the last movie angie really shot was changeling, right? was it? if so, then, she certainly has kept her word about taking a year off. more than a year, really.

I don´t know how on earth are they gonna bring Angie´s character Fox back into Wanted 2 unless it´s a prequel. If it´s a sequel I doubt if I´m gonna go and see it. Angie was really great in Wanted although I found it a bit too violent. She and James McAvoy had a great chemistry but not like Brad and Angie had in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (ha ha!). Still they were a great team. Hopefully the JP clan will have a great summer vacation soon no matter how short because of Brad´s filming schedule. God bless the JP family!
