Angelina Jolie joins Clint Eastwood at Cannes

Bright and early this morning, Angelina Jolie hit the Cannes Film Festival once again to attend the photocall and press conference for Changeling with Clint Eastwood, cast, and crew.

Angelina Jolie joins Clint Eastwood at Cannes

Angelina Jolie was in her trademark black again but you can’t deny that she’s still glowing - she’s absolutely radiant.

The movie premieres later this evening at Cannes. Changeling is about a mother whose young son goes missing and is eventually returned to her, but she soon realizes he’s not really her son after all.

You can count on the fact that I’ll be hovering around for the red carpet premiere pictures later, as well as video clips.

There are more beautiful photos of Angelina at the Changeling photocall below the cut.

Love the black, but I think she looks absolutely exhausted. Maybe she feels like she’s overdone it a little lately. She does look like her mother. I love her in black best of all.

She is one strong woman, it is so nice that she has Brad and the kids to retreat to. I am sure she never imagine her life as it is now. She is carrying this movie! Bravo for Angie and Clint. Dynamic duo. Read some of the reviews and they are all great!
This hair style makes her look more soft and the black makes her look strong. The combination equals Angielina Jolie.

check out TMZ.com there is a video of Brad, Angie and the little ones at the children’s clothes shop. It really shows how chaotic their life is. They go into the store and within minutes the front of the store is swarmed. You see brad pick up Shiloh and get protective.
it is really sad how those kids get mobbed.

Wow, very true, lately she’s been glowing & it reflects on her face the happiness that he feels right now specially on this pregnancy. I really like the pictures when Brad & her went out for dinner, I like her printed gown.
    God Bless the Jolie-Pitt’s. BBL.

Eastwood: Angelina Jolie is one of the rare American actresses today who would have made a career in the 1940’s. Her face, like her personality, is very distinct, always attractive. It does not resemble anybody else. I also believe that her talent is underestimated; as an actress she is a superb girl. Angelina Jolie registers more in the tradition of Simone Signoret, in which the obvious glamour never erases the very strong personality. — eastwood interview

I think she (Angie) has impressed Clint Eastwood and his wife, who seems to be a No Nonsense woman.

I have been so anxious about the reviews for Changeling, you would swear I was in the movie myself.

I remember when the movie was being filmed and Sherry had a link to an Extra’s blog, I wonder how she is feeling now reading some of these early glowing reviews

i want to scream when i see this video: why people don’t respect them and give them some space? papz make their job and in the most part of the time they don’t surround them. but ‘fans” on this video are really cràzy!!!!!! i don’t understand such an attitude. if i met brad and angie (hum hum) i’ ll not run near them and scream “haaaaaaa” (like a f*cking girl in this video!!!!!!)
shiloh looks really afraid!!! poor girl!

hopefully, moments like this are “rare” and the rest of the time people are respectful, stay quiet and let them some space!!!!

    Lovely article on “Cannes-gelina” -

    http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2008-05-19-angelina-cannes-interview_N.htm

Angelina Jolie is full of joie de vivre at Cannes

Mum’s the word: Boys? Girls? Both? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt won’t say.

    By Anthony Breznican, USA TODAY

CANNES, France — Festival-goers call the craze “Cannes-gelina.”

Angelina Jolie has been the belle of the Cannes International Film Festival, endearing the crowds as she promotes two new films while displaying a prodigious belly of twins.

First came Kung Fu Panda’s premiere last week, and tonight is Changeling, a Clint Eastwood-directed drama opening Nov. 7 about a mother in 1928 Los Angeles whose child disappears, but the boy returned to her is not her son.

She says she’s responding to the crush of attention with calm: “It has been lovely. I did my first day, then got to get home for dinner and got to hang out and play Barbies and things” with Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 1.

The key, she says, is to enjoy the festival’s circus-like atmosphere instead of fighting it. “It has been really nice. With a film like Kung Fu Panda, it’s so easy and fun. Even doing the red carpet — people can tend to get very serious about that, with competition — but we got to go up with a (costumed) panda,” she says with a laugh. “It all remained fun and in the spirit of kids’ movies.”

Another important part of being a festival star: comfortable shoes. She recommends a low heel with a Nike sole.

Even with the mountains of attention directed at Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Jolie has been the standout star. After finishing an interview at the Hotel Carlton, she wandered into the hall and caused a stir among Crystal Skull’s George Lucas, Karen Allen and Harrison Ford, who flashed his wry smile and enveloped her with a hug and kiss on the cheek.

Jolie says the attention has not been overwhelming. “It’s not such hard work. I’m sitting and talking a lot, and people are being very nice to me. If I was feeling too pregnant, everybody said I didn’t have to come. So I was feeling all right,” she says. “The photography and all that can be something that is not fun to live with, (but) when you come here and you’re proud of something … then it’s a positive thing.”

Jolie doesn’t want to announce the gender of her twins, and she says she and partner Brad Pitt haven’t decided where she’ll give birth.

“Because we have twins, we have to get to know a doctor wherever we’re based, just in case they come early,” she says.

The secrecy is partly about avoiding the paparazzi, the actress adds. “It’s not as much focused on the whole celebrity side of it. It’s about wanting the experience of birth, and also spending time with the other children. It just should be a very beautiful time, for any woman.”

Before daughter Shiloh was born, the family set up in a remote town in Namibia. “We spent our days with the children on safari, or in the dunes, or painting, or just having a beautiful time. When she was born, we were the only people in this tiny little clinic where there was only one anesthesiologist in the town, only one pediatrician in the town,” she says.

“It was just very intimate. It wasn’t about avoiding the outside world. It was just making it as beautiful an experience as we could. This time we are limited because we can’t be as adventurous in where we go because when there’s two, you have to be more careful.”

While in Cannes, she also is doing interviews for the action-thriller Wanted (June 27), in which she plays a Dodge Viper-driving, gun-blazing assassin.

She points out that she’s not doing anything all that extraordinary; it’s what many women do up until they give birth. “I just have to do my job.”

Here is a link for a French interview of Angelina

    http://www.canalplus.fr/tous-les-programmes/pid2174-c-p-le-grand-journal.html?

It’s just a few seconds at the very end of the video but it is cute. It’s not the main video that appears in the middle of the page, you have to click on the arrow on the right and it’s the video called “Le Grand Journal La Suite du 19/05 - Partie 1″, the one with a man wearing a white suit ;-)

    Au revoir ***

After finishing an interview at the Hotel Carlton, she wandered into the hall and caused a stir among Crystal Skull’s George Lucas, Karen Allen and Harrison Ford, who flashed his wry smile and enveloped her with a hug and kiss on the cheek. [A separate article said Angie & George talked a long time about raising adopted kids.]

Ha! That vid is crazy! If i seen Ange and Brad i’d probably be kind of reserved lol almost intimidated but in a good way! if that is possible..but you know what i mean they’re such a nice, sophisticated family you’d have to have some etiquette around them..obviously some people don’t get it.. Can’t wait for the red carpet..we’ve been really spoiled this week hehe

I love Brad and Angie. The video is truly disturbing. If I was in the crowd I would have said…”STOP, give them space…you’re scaring the babies.”…I’m sure Brad and Angie could have called the police to disperse the crowd for them to leave, but they probably feel that it would be wrong to waste the police time with something they consider to be so frivolous. However, I hope they stay safe. We need and love them in this world.

Love the comment about Harrison, also loved the article where they are talking to George Lucas (also a adoptive parent) I can just picture them talking about when kids become teenagers. I am not looking forward to it my self despite the fact I still have another 5 yrs before that happens. I felt so bad for them in that video the crush was crazy. Also in the article AJ says they can’t be a adventures in this birth with there location because there are two. I would say it will be either France on New Orleans for the birth, due to this comment.

Brad & Angelina’s Star-Studded Dinner Date [Clint, Mick Jagger +]

By Nancy Wilson and Peter Mikelbank

Originally posted Tuesday May 20, 2008 07:35 AM EDT

The Jolie-Pitts left their brood at home Monday night for a leisurely dinner on the Cotes d’Azur with Clint Eastwood and Mick Jagger.

Brad Pitt, 44, and Angelina Jolie, 32, joined their celebrity pals and about eight other guests – including Rush Hour director Brett Ratner – for an evening of bouillabaisse, grilled langouste (warm-water lobster) and white wine.

The group arrived at Restaurant Tetou in Golfe-Juan – about three miles from Cannes – at around 8:30 p.m. Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, 64, was the first to leave, and the whole party broke up around midnight.

“Angelina and Brad are adorable,” a waitress tells PEOPLE. “They are so in love. The whole table was super nice.”

Film legend Eastwood, 77, directed Jolie in Changeling, which premieres at the Cannes Film Festival Tuesday. (Jolie and Pitt are expected to walk the red carpet.)

Earlier in the day, the couple – who are expecting twins – nipped out for some baby clothes shopping.

I think everytime they get out it is like this especially if they have Shiloh. I have seen it before when they were in New York. No wonder they leave Shiloh at home, it has to be terrifying for the little ones.

I ask again…has the title of the movie changed? It is referred in some places as The Exchange, in others as Changeling, and I have seen tid bits about a possible name change but no real confirmation.

    anyone know anything?

  • Sherry
    May 20, 2008 at 10:33 am

Rita - I haven’t heard anything official about a name change and on the Cannes site when I checked the scheduled events it was still listed as Changeling. I wonder if there was some confusion because the French title is “L’Echange” which translates directly to “The Exchange”.

As far as I know, it’s still the original title.

i just saw brad and angie on the red carpet in live: they are soooooooooooooooooooo gorgeous. she wears a long beige dress with strass black and withe near the neck, long diamand earring, her hair is half part tie. she looks a little bit like in Alexander. too perfect!!!

That man in the white suit is Clint Eastwood, Oscar-winning director of Changeling.

Speaking of Marcheline (Angie’s last sentence is so touching):

    http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/05/20/arts/Film-Cannes-Festival-Eastwood-Jolie.php

Though Jolie said she could imagine the pain and frustration if she were in Christine’s situation, she had to look beyond her own children and position as a “very modern and very outspoken woman” to play the character.

Christine fought her battle at a time when women did not have the same power to speak their minds as today, Jolie said. So Jolie found inspiration in her own mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, who died in January 2007.

“To me, she’s very much like my mother,” Jolie said. “My mother was very passive in many ways and very, very sweet, but when it came to her children, she was a lion. But as a woman, very shy with her own voice. So in many ways, Christine reminded me of my mom, and it was a way to kind of revisit my mother after her passing and spend time with her.”

WOW! I kkep staring at these pictures and I just can’t find my words to describe how beautiful she is! Sophisticated, elegant, stylish, classy, glamorous (the kind of glamour that clint eastwood was talking about). The suite fits her perfectly. I like it even more than rhe green dress. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous!!! Black is definitely her trademark and her best colour. And it’s my colour, too:p I use it quite often. It’s casual and elegant at the same time.
She is glowing and she looks very happy. I loved what Clint Eastwood said about her. Nobody coul have said it better and I agree completely. She has a lot of power as an actress, her acting is impecable. I hope we will see her in more roles like the ones in A Mighty Heart, Beyond borders, Taking Lives, Girl Interrupted etc. In my opinion, she is one of the greates talents in Hollywood right now.

Oh wow. I just watched that video that was taken when Brad, Angie, Shiloh and Mad went shopping. Unbelievable. I had no idea things got SO crazy when they went out. I mean we’re talking extreme…even in a relatively small town in the South of France, i.e. not New York City or LA. I feel bad for them, it must be really awful. And no wonder Brad and Shiloh look a little bit anxious in some of those pictures, because there are literally crowds forming outside the boutique and yeah, people screaming. Poor Shiloh!!!!! But it seems like she stays pretty calm. It shows she is a pretty emotionally stable kid inasmuch as she doesn’t get afraid despite all that commotion. Then again, as Brad once mentioned, those kids have had to deal with this their whole lives so they are used to it. Also I have to say I am impressed by how calm and polite Brad and Angie remain through all this, I would get mad as hell!!!!!

Many many thanks to those that posted links (Melodie, Ligaya, Angela, Kim, French Girl). Welcome back, Lily.

As to that video, well, that must have been scary for Shiloh and Maddox. Children should never have to go through that, and I feel really bad that these kids have to just because their parents are celebrities. I can understand being excited about seeing your favorites and idols, but this is too much.

Thanks Sherry for keeping us updated with our favorite family. The red carpet dress with Clint’s movie reminds me of candidates for the Miss Universe pageant. Big hair, tall women and gorgeous gowns and make-up. With Angie, her face is so classic. The only one I can think of to compare her with is the face of Audrey Hepburn. Don’t worry, I think Brad and Angie are used to these crowds. Also, I’m sure the greeting kiss will end up on the cover of the tabs.
