Angelina ready for a year-long break
I had heard some buzz about this yesterday but they were from random sources, so I waited for a bit. However, now even Access Hollywood is reporting it and they usually try to be pretty fair so I’ll post it now. Angelina Jolie is planning to take an acting break for a year once she wraps up her current filming commitments. She says that right now they’re getting all the work out of the way, including the current shooting of Wanted back in Prague.
She is quoted as having said that once that filming wraps for her she has two months off, then two more months of work to do. After that, she’s ready for a year off.
However, she does say that she will continue to do her humanitarian work in the interim because it’s so important to her. Despite some concerns people have for her safety she says that she refuses to live inside a bubble and that she “will be smart, but […] will lead a very bold life and {…] learn about the world.”
(Source - and I do have to say that one thing that bugs the nitpicker in me is the fact that they referred to her current filming being in Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia does not exist anymore and hasn’t for years. It’s the Czech Republic and its neighboring country of Slovakia now, hello Access Hollywood!)

It would be good for Jolie and Brad if Jolie takes a year off because it will really give her some time to get to know her children and let them get to know her. You can’t be a great mom if you don’t understand your children. There is no substitute of the actual time that you spend with your children. I think that Jolie is making the right choice. Remember, the movie world is always there. Once your children grow up, they will be gone, or, at least, they are not the same.
Not a kid anymore.

chan, just because AJ is a working mother does not mean she does not know her kids. Some of us working moms need to work…and we DO KNOW our kids and they know us. The assumption that a working mom is short-changing her kids infuriates me. As AJ has said time and time again…yes, she is a working mom, but she is also always there for her kids…

Sophie, you are right. I am sorry that I was not sensitive to all the working mother. Indeed, many of us need to work and raise a family at the same time. It is just harder for these working mothers to juggle her time between work and families. I am sure that most working mothers are able to find quality time to develop a close relationship with their children. However, if there is a choice a woman can take some time off to be with her chidlren, it would be great, isn’t it. Jolie is making the right choice. She can afford to do that. Gweneth Paltrow had done that and now she is back to work and is still a respectable actress. I know that after taking a year break, we just can’t wait to see her making movies for us to enjoy.

Thanks for the links, I love that Angie is wearing yellow. I hope she keeps wearing lighter colors (besides white), she looks great.
I agree w/ what you said Sophie and I also applaud Angie for taking some time off to focus on her kids & Brad, her charity work, and herself. She’ll probably be practicing flying a lot more, and although that worries me a bit, I hope she will be happy and safe.
I’ll miss her in 2008, but she’ll probably still be doing premieres and a few interviews, so that’s good.

I think it’s great, and I hope that she does take some time off to relax and spend with family. She has been under a lot of stress with her mother’s death and of course raising 4 babies! Good luck to her. She can come have a playdate with me any day. I have a daughter the same age as Maddox, a son a little younger than Pax and a baby a few months younger than Shiloh. I’ll make sure Z has fun too. :)

it’s not nitpicking to get a COUNTRY right. It’s like when people say “she lives in Africa” when they are talking about, oh I don’t know…Egypt, Sudan, Chad….
It’s the Czech Republic for crying out loud, and has been for oh a good (I want to say 10) but will err on the side of caution and say 7 years.
