Articles referencing the birth of Brangelina’s Baby

by Christina on May 29th, 2006

Rather than make 100 posts this morning, I am going to make one big post referencing all of the articles I can find on the birth of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. My hubby is still home, as it is Memorial Day here in the U.S., so I will be back in full force tonight and tomorrow when he has flown back off to work. So, here we go:

Statement from Doug Pitt: KCTV5

In Springfield, Missouri, Brad’s brother, Doug Pitt, called it an exciting time for the couple. He released the statement to The Springfield News-Leader in an exclusive e-mail.

Statement from Angelina’s doctor: FOX

Mother and child are doing well, a doctor at the hospital where Angelina Jolie gave birth to a daughter said Sunday

Shiloh will be offered Namibian citizenship: news.com.au

“Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt will, according to Namibian law, be allowed to obtain Namibian citizenship if the parents should choose to do so,” he said, adding that a Namibian passport for the new arrival would be discussed with the parents “at a later stage”.

The Messiah is born: The Guardian

I just like the title of this story: Producers hired Brad Pitt doubles to perplex pesky paparazzi! (Say that 3 times fast!!) - from Yahoo! India

Shiloh is lucky to be alive - FOX

The infant mortality rate in Namibia, according to the CIA’s website, is 48.1 deaths per 1000 live births. In 2003, 21 percent of Namibians died of AIDS. Women are only expected to live to age 42 in Namibia. Men aren’t expected to live past their 44th birthday.

Trust FOX “news” for their tacky and judgmental headlines. Both have been in countries like this before; they know what to expect. Does anyone think for a second that if there was even the remotest possibility of danger they’d be somewhere else? “Lucky to be alive”–Oh Puh-leeeze.

Honestly, guys, the headline like fox created make the americans look like a bunch of cowards and spoiled people. afraid of desease, afraid of death….

actually the situation is not that bad in the ‘third world country’ like africa and indonesia.

the news reflect the styrotype (i forgot the spell! =D) opinions from americans about the third world nation people, and from the third world nation people about americans.

i don’t mean to offense my american friends here, by writing those lines above, but it’s the truth that i think you guys should know about what the outside world usually think about americans.

you know, take an iraq war for example. americans were marked as bad people since the war begun. but finally we found out, that the war was not what most americans wanted.

many music concerts that were scheduled to be held in indonesia were finally canceled becuz of the management were so frightend to come here (indo). but look at Linkin Park. they were doing fine!

sorry guys, but i think americans should stop being so spoiled.
drinking your water from a recycle bottle for once is not gonna kill you, riding a bike without helmet in a quiet garden for once won’t put you in danger, being bitten by a bug for once won’t cost you your life.
in other words, stop worrying too much. just do good things in your life, be nice to other people. be gratefull for what we had…
i think that’s the way we should enjoy and fulfill ourlives
so when the death comes, we’ll be ‘ready’.=)

c’mon… don’t be so negative about africa. hey, charlize theron was born there, right? and she grew up beautifully!

and by the way, angie and brad are not the people with HIV or AIDS, soo.. shiloh ofcourse not in near death or what ever they claimed she is.

okay guys, i don’t mean to insult or mocking any of my american friends here….i hope all of you can take my post wisely.
oh, and i always remember what chterine told us: BGPNDF!! =D

Viva> I totally agree, being form Africa myself, it just irks me when people are arrogant about it. Africa is not that bad, it has it’s bad parts but it also has it’s beautiful parts also. I swear if you go to some places in Africa it’s just like America. There are a lot of misconceptions about it, if people actually went there, they’ll be suprised.

maybe they didnot mean it in that context , I am not sure but what if they meant she was lucky to have brad and angelina as parents …so to say she is lucky to be alive but in a good way…….. Its hard to say in what context it was meant as it was only a one line sentence read on the internet…… Sooooooo who knows… I too have lived all over the world and my husband is currently in Iraq and was in afganistan two years ago……I do know that some places dont have very good living conditions…but I think were Brad and angelina are staying is a top resort ….so no worries about them actually being in a unsanitary place for the borth of there child…….

I think the point was pretty clear in the FOX article. They made a point of producing the infant mortality statistics indicating how “dangerous” it is to give birth outside of the US (which, incidentally isn’t in the top 30 countries with the lowest IMR). They slanted their story to make it sound like Angelina was gambling with her and Shiloh’s lives. The stats they produced don’t make any mention as to why those rates are so high in Namibia or Africa in general–AIDS, HIV, malnutrition, poverty, lack on prenatal care, etc. All stuff the US could do something about if we weren’t so caught up in abstinence only education. Typical FOX–why tell the truth when a snazzy headline will get the job done?

I wonder if Angelina and Brad are back home in America and had baby there all along! Think about it?
