Brad and Angelina buy a chateau!

by Christina on March 23rd, 2006

A castle in the south of France - sounds like a fairytale!

This, from SAWF.org:

It has now been confirmed that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have gone ahead and bought a sprawling Chateau at Benerville near Deauville along the Normandy coast in France.

The house, Chateau Gabriel, was bought by the previous owners, renowned fashion mogul Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge in 1978. It was built in 1874, covers 850 square meters, has nine bedrooms, and is located inside a 30 hectares park with different kind of gardens (exotic, japanese, hinds park). There is also a helipad, stables and a datcha. The Chateau is surrounded by woods and views overlooking the sea.

Guys, I have a great story about this chateau. Several months ago it was reported in a real estate magazine that they had put down $25,000 on Chateau Gabriel and the writer said that there was no response to her attempts to contact the realtor. So. . .my being the curious fan that I am. . .contacted the broker myself and carried on a long correspondence showing a personal interest in the property myself. It was hilarious as I received so many extra pictures and details of the property, the price, etc. Believe me, it will be the grandest place to bring up a large brood of kids away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi. It’s quite a remarkable place and the asking price was about $25,000,000. It’s maybe an hour away from Paris and beyond imagination in beauty and amenities. So glad the Jolie-Pitts bought this place and hope the money keeps coming in with movies and projects because they are going to need lots of it to keep it maintained. Hope you don’t think I’m a devious person. I just tried to think of how a journalist could go about getting information and that was what I came up with.

That is a great story, JLS! If you still have the pictures and details, I know a few people who might be interested. ;)

JLS, I applaud you! I do alot of research and I leave no stone unturned in trying to find the info I need “within reason, and within the confines of the law”. Now, if they already were in it, that might have been a bit scary, but since they hadn’t purchased it, it was fair game. If anything, it’s the realtor who should have been more cautious, because you probably weren’t the only one who thought to do this.

    Thanks Christine!

Christina, I’ll check my mail manager and see what I’ve kept. I’ll send whatever I have. Just email to the site or where? I think I have quite a bit. Actually, the broker said he was planning to send me a DVD with pictures of every room and all parts and aspects of the property. I decided to stop the madness before making him go to all the trouble. That would have been so nice to have. . .now. At the time so little was said in the gossips about this piece of info, I began to think it might not be true.
