Pittwatch.com: Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Gossip

Brad and Angelina’s babies OFFICIAL!

by Sherry on July 13th, 2008

According to one of the few sources that I count on to be honest and sincere, People, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did indeed welcome their new twin babies this weekend!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie welcome Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline

It happened on Saturday in the Lenval hospital, and they were indeed one boy and one girl!

“The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly,” Dr. Michael Sussmann told PEOPLE Sunday. “Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well.”

The names were also accurate as well - the boy was named Knox Leon and the girl was named Vivienne Marcheline, an obvious nod to Angie’s late mother. They were both born by c-section and weighed in just around the five pound mark, which is great for multiples. They were born early because the doctors wanted the babies to be born in the best conditions, which may have meant they were concerned about their size.

So exciting!! Welcome to the world, Knox and Vivienne!

Wow a boy and a girl - the perfect addition to their family!!!! What a blessed life we are witnessing! Thanks to all fans for holding a great safe place for JP family. Interesting to me that both babies received grandparents names…I wonder if Knox will be referred to as “Leon” being the little Leo Boy?

Felicitaciones!, Mummy, Daddy & all 6 of the little Jolie-Pitt kiddies! Someone said Knox was one of the grandfathers’ names, I wonder if Vivienne is one of the grandmothers’ names. I’m sure we’ll find out the significance of twins’ names soon.

Repeating my comment in the previous entry:

Happy birthday to Mary Ann and welcome back to PinkyJP.

After all the false alarms etc…it’s so great to know that the twins are officially here. I’m very glad to hear that Angie and the babies are doing well. I hope she’ll be able to rest well, and that the babies gets healthier and healthier as the days go by and before they head back home to Miraval.

It sure is a great weekend for us JP fans!

I slept a mere 4 hours…I’m still so excited. Yes, they’re here and I am ready for the “awesomeness”! Their names are unusual alright and KnoxLeon has already grown on me. I’ll call him Leo! Vivienne sounds sophisticated, worldly and regal. What a great day for all of us! A boy and a girl…that is just so fabulous. Can this family be any more perfect??

How wonderful. I have been online trying to find as much info as possible. I can’t wait to see the pics. I hope they wait awhile before taking the photo. Shi changed so much after People did the earlier pics. I wanted it to be a boy/girl. 3 each. I hope they will have the chance to relax and enjoy their new additions. I wonder if Brad’s parents are there yet. They came right away for Shi’s birth. The other children must be so excited; especially Mad. Since he is old enough to understand what is happening. Well the media frinze will begin next week no doubt. I hope People get the pics. I not a big fan of OK.
Much happiness to the “Jolie-Pitt Bunch”

So excited! And now they have 3 of each. They probably took them because one twin may have been what they call a “vampire twin” just like my daughter-in-law experienced. The term means that one twin is taking more nourishment than the other, which can cause weight loss in one twin. They are an excellent weight for multiples as well. I heard that Knox is Brad’s paw paws name and Marcheline is, of course, Angie’s Mom’s name. I bet Vivienne and Leon have some significance too. I’m over the moon now that they are here and safe, those precious babies.

So happy to find pittwatch.com, I am an ultimate Brangelina fan and so much that I waited and watched for Shiloh’s birth… excited about them having twins! Surely all the older siblings are very happy as well. Congratulations to the Jolie-Pitt family. Best of health to all of them.

I don´t like Knox as a name for a little boy, but that´s just my opinion, it´s not my child. Brad´s mother´s father was called Hal Knox Hillhouse. So Knox was his second name, and probably not a first name, but a family name used as a middle name. It reminds me of Fort Knox, but Brad and Angie probably wanted another boy´s name ending with an “x”.

On the other hand, I just love the name Vivienne. It was always one of my favourites, too, when I expected my children, but my husband didn´t like it. But I think it´s a very very beautiful name.

God! I’m so happy, I feel like crying :P A boy and a girl, the perfect combination. And tweens:D I love tweens. Very beautiful names, also. Knox it’s a name that I’ve never heard of before, but it’s very interesting and unique, like the JP, of course:p I like Leon very much. It’s soft and strong at the same time. And it matches perfectly with Knox. They really have style when it comes to baby names (and everything else:)). What can I say about Vivienne…I adore this name. It’s so…aristocrat, royal. Perfect name. Congrats to brad and angie for naming her like this.
I want them to be happy. Together and happy forever. They deserve it.

God has truly smiled on this family. I pray for their blessings to continue. They are good people and that in todays’ world is very unusual. Believe what you want about how they came to be together remember God always has a plan and I think the Jolie Pitts are the answer.

I am over the moon. my mom is a southern lady and ays Knox is somewhat common in the south, especially a couple of generations ago. She went to school with a boy name Knox, who was named for his mothers maiden name. I love the names, and am so glad all is well.

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes, and Gena G I will donate to the Brad and Angelina charity. The names are interesting and I can’t wait to hear the background on the names. On the girls side we have Zee, Shi and Vee. What an exciting time this has been for all of us that truly care about the Jolie-Pitts. Sherry, thanks for having a wonderful place to come and express how happy excited we all are. I have been reading fan magazines for many years and I have had my favorites, but never have I felt about anyone else as I do for these two wonderful people. As one of the other commenters said, God does have a plan for all of us. These two not only give us enjoyment in who they are and their wonderful children, but they do so much good for the less fortuate. Hey, I hope the money paid for the babies pictures goes real high, the more the better since it will all be given to charity. And I am sure that Brad and Angie will donate a certain amount of money to Lenval Hospital.

It is very moving to see how many people truly love this family as do I. The Jolie-Pitts have become like new Messiahs, revered around the world ! : ) and they aren’t even politicians. They themselves must be amazed by the sensation they are causing.

I like the name Vivienne quite a lot. It’s original, classy and feminine. Not something I personally would choose, but a nice name. Knox I’m not so sure about… It’s original and kind of cute, like Maddox and Pax, which have grown on me… Perhaps it will grow on me like the other two names… but at first glance I am not so crazy about it. It sounds a bit silly in my view, like sox or Knock. But hopefully, the boy will give the name a whole new magic and cast, like Maddox and Pax have done for their names !

LOL I have a feeling these names were Angelina’s decision… But what the heck, Brad is man enough to go along when she makes cool decisions, and her instincts regarding the family (i.e. who and when to adopt) have so far been right on target, it seems….

  • ania
    Jul 13, 2008 at 1:10 pm

Don’t know much about significance of Knox Leon name but Vivienne stands for alive, lively, to live- so most likely Vivienne Marcheline is to symbolize that AJ’s mother is still alive in this newborn…if you follow my drift…I bet they had one pick each and if the girl’s name has a special meaning to AJ then the boy’s name probably has a special meaning to BP….We just have to wait and see these interviews…it will probably will be all revealed.

My comment is under moderation. I explained where the name Knox comes from (second name of Brad´s maternal grandfather).

Sherry, please get me out of moderation! E.g. this info about the background of Knox´s name - it gets mentioned again and again, but by the time my comment gets out of moderation, it is lost somewhere in the top of all the comments, and no-one reads it anymore. It´s not the first time it´s happened, and it is so frustrating. This is supposed to be a fan site, and we´re all discussing and sharing information, but if your information gets lost all the time, there´s no use posting anymore.

Can you please lift this automatic moderation that happens to my comments? You said maybe my IP address is similar to some spammer´s address.

Who are you to call Africa, “shit”. Their problems are far more deep then a simple 4 days work. Watch your mouth, and think before you write.

    Thanks

Thank you again everyone for your good wishes. I have been reading all the comments and we are all so excited. Sherry, when you want to get another discussion thread going, maybe we could try to figure out why this couple is so popular through out the world. My goodness we have commenters from all over.
Lette, thanks for asking about how to pronounce Vivienne’s name I am also wondering. Also, one of our other commenters noticed that each of the boys second names end in the letter “n”. Also, I am dying to know if the grandfather with the middle name of Knox is the grandfather that told Brad he didn’t like his movie. I think that is so funny, us old people some how some way always put our foot in our mouths. My kids just look at me some times and just shake their heads or roll their eyes. Well all in all this has been such an exciting day. If we are all this excited can you image how Brad, Angie and the children must feel. So what initials do we come up with now since BAMPZS now has a KV to be added. I will leave that up to all of you who have much sharper minds than mine.

love the names classic old school names very cool. Can’t wait to see the pictures, I would guess what a couple of weeks to a month. Does any one know how old Shi was in the people pics? I wonder if they have AJ eyes or Brad’s. I would assume they are blond but you never know. If they are only 5 pounds they may wait a month to do some official pics. I would guess they will take the helicopter home. The City of Nice (the mayor) is really milking this for all its worth, and I don’t really understand why.

Vivienne would be pronounced “Vi-vee-ENe” in French.

Marcheline would be “Ma(r)-sheuh-LEEN” (that’s the best way I know to spell it out!).

    Leon = “LEE-oh(n)”

    Knox = “Nox” :)

I’m so happy they have a boy and a girl. Three boys, three girls. A beautiful family. And the stories about Brad being emotional in the hospital make me want to cry! Hooray for the family.

Interestingly, CNN has a quote from Dr. Sussman, who delivered the twins, calling Brad Pitt Angelina’s husband. I have to wonder if they may be married. I don’t think an obstetrician of this caliber with such a high-profile couple would make a slip like this. What I mean is this is such an important detail (and a speech that would be quoted and read by millions of folks) that I cannot imagine he didn’t think about what he was saying. Perhaps they are now married after all…

  • Laura
    Jul 13, 2008 at 10:14 pm

allaboutme- I volunteer at the OB ward in a hospital and it’s a very common mistake. These docs deliver so many babies that the word husband is like the word the to us. It’s used frequently. I guarantee you this Doctor has probably never had to endure a high profile press conference such as this one. I truly believe it’s an honest mistake. If it wasn’t, wouldn’t there be 100 websites speculating about the wedding of the century?

wow i’m really happy that brad and angelina had their twins and was really surprised to find out that one was a boy and one was a girl. i love the name vivienne. it’s a name that’s not heard of too much anymore and it’s quite refreshing. knox is interesting…maybe something that’s going to have to grow on me but i’m sure they’re beautiful babies. i was so excited to read the bulletin on the E channel this morning. i can’t wait to see the pictures and it’s going to be interesting to see what a brangelina boy turns out to look like and i wonder if vivienne is going to look like shiloh. shiloh looks more like brad though so it would be nice if viv would look more like angelina. marcheline would also have been a nice first name. best of luck to the parents of the new twins

Knox? Not a common name, but cool. I like it.

Mary Ann, the grandfather with the middle name Knox passed away in 1976 already. He was his maternal grandfather. The one mentioned in the interview was his father´s Dad - so, no, it´s not the same “Knox”.

Sherry, please take this comment out of moderation (where I know it will land) ASAP, please, because I´d like to have Mary Ann get the answer to her question. If it only comes out of moderation tomorrow, she will most likely never see it. Thanks!

    More details from the doctor:

Dr. Michel Sussman has shared more details of the birth of Angelina and Brad’s twins.
During the labor and delivery, the couple “were talking, they were together,” Dr. Michel Sussmann told reporters outside Fondation Lenval Hospital in Nice, France, where twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon were born on Saturday. “It was an epidural, so [Angelina] was awake and speaking and laughing. They were happy.”
Brad never left Angelina’s side – “he was my assistant!” Dr. Michel Sussmann said jokingly – and even cut the babies’ umbilical cords.
“He was … perfectly calm, totally determined, very pleased to be at the birth of his children, very moved and very emotional,” said Dr. Michel Sussmann.
Asked whether the birth had been a textbook delivery, Dr. Michel Sussmann replied, “absolutely no problems.”
Asked when Angelina and the babies leave the hospital? “I don’t know,” he said. “She will stay for a few days. You know, in Europe it isn’t like in the United States, where the patients go home after three days. They will stay a bit longer until everything is okay.”
He added: “The babies are fine. The babies are with the mother and father and they are fine.”

    Knox Surname Origin
(Locality). Gaelic, Cnoc, a little hill; figuratively, a stout man.
    *****************
    Knox Name Meaning and History
Scottish, northern English, and northern Irish: from a genitive or plural form of Old English cnocc ‘round-topped hill’, hence a topographic name for someone who lived on a hilltop, or a habitational name from one of the places in Scotland and northern England named with this element, now spelled Knock, in particular one in Renfrewshire.
The surname is also borne by eastern Ashkenazic Jews as an Americanized form of one or more like-sounding Jewish surnames.
    **************************
    Vivian Name Meaning and History
English and French: from the personal name (Latin Vivianus, a derivative of vivus ‘living’, ‘alive’). The name was borne by a 5th-century bishop of Saintes, France, and was popular among the Normans, by whom it was introduced to England.

Nikki, after you posted I searched for the certificate and had a look at it.

It just says “Angelina Jolie, née à Los Angeles - Californie - le 4 juin 1975″. As far as I know that just means ‘born in L.A. on the…’ So I guess we’ll still have to wait little longer for the “I do”s.

SOOOO happy for all of them! The paper this morning said as of yet, the rest of the brood hasn’t met their brother and sister. I hope that was incorrect! By now, they should’ve been allowed into the nursery to see them. Glad she had the babies abroad… they have better health care over there and won’t just send her home packin’ with healing to do and two babies to care for. My sister lives in Europe; had a C-section and stayed in the hospital for 5 days. They’re saying AJ will stay for at least another 3. They’re so blessed that the babies are healthy and Mom is doing fine. Congrats to the whole family!

I’m so happy for them. Although we really should keep them in our prayers. Recovering from a C-Section AND caring for newborn twins is no picnic. I just got finished recovering from my third C-Section and it was a rough first couple of weeks. I had lots of help and I’m sure she’ll have lots of help as well, but still…
Does anyone know if she nursed Shiloh? I wonder if she’ll nurse the twins for any length of time. I can’t wait to see the pictures.

Victoria, thanks so much for the explanation on which grandfather it was. Victoria, I know it is a pain when our remarks go into moderation, I believe if we were having a contest, Ligaya would probably win. Please keep on posting here at Pittwatch. Sherry does a great job and she gets to them as quick as possible. Like hearing from you so please hang in there.

Ayla, belated Happy Birthday, that is mine also. I also wanted to tell you that I love your name. I have The Clan of the Cave Bear series, and I believe it my memory serves me correctly Ayla is the main character. In fact it has been about 5+ years since the author has put out a current book. Anyway, love your name. Hope all is well with the Jolie-Pitts today. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Madd, Pax, Zee and Shiloh met their new brother and sister.

The children probably are anxious to see their new brother & sister. I wonder if Brad’s parents are already in France?
Belated Happy Birthday Ayla. I agree with Mary Ann, your name is beautiful.
    God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

Thank you Mary Ann for your nice comment!! Even though we don´t really know each other at all in the real world, it is funny how we are old acquaintances here in this blog! Sometimes I wonder what we all look like. I think one has a certain image of the other person in one´s head, and most of the time one would be totally wrong, I suppose!! :)

I will definitely keep posting, but I think I am winning the contest! I AM Queen of Moderation, because 100 % of my comments go into moderation. I don´t think I had one comment in the past few weeks that didn´t go into moderation. I could probably post an empty comment, and it would still land there!! Moderation does not like me!! ;)
