Brad is not the only Pitt who cares
Brad Pitt is not the only caring member of his family - here is a video from a couple of days ago of his brother Doug Pitt talking about how he is working, with Brad’s help and local business people to contribute to a special fund to take care of Springfield’s public school children. They want the fund to help the children who are falling through the cracks and are lacking in basics like food and hygiene needs.
Clearly it’s genetic. What a great, caring family.

Any kind of help to those in need deserves praise and the call to give needs publicity. While not all problems will be solved via this approach, the fact that it will bring help even to just a small number of people in need is already a good thing. Small steady steps work just as well, if not even better, than big ones that might fail.

Brad’s brother looks pretty hot. Did you notice the shoulders. Must be some great genes going on in that family. Isn’t there anoter Pitt sibling? sister or another brother?

There’s a sister (can’t recall her name right now - Julie?), married with children. The tabs are always saying she & her mom don’t get along with Angelina.
Love what Doug said in an earlier video, “A kid’s a kid, whether in Africa, New Orleans or Springfield.” Love that Doug organized this - I read somewhere that Brad got his sense of social responsibility from his brother.

Ligaya,
Really!? I have never read that! I read a while ago, they co-started the book charity drive thing though. That’s cool though.
*Kim,
Brad is oldest, Doug and then Julie.
Thanks Sherry!

Yes, BB - I read that about the time the pregnant JPs were in Haiti visiting Jean Wyclef and his Yele Haiti project.
This was posted at perezhilton’s today: I’m a teacher now and went to college in Springfield. Doug and Brad Pitt were helping out school’s all of the time back then. They donated quite a bit to an experimental at-risk where I volunteered. Great people!!

This is the first time I’ve seen Doug Pitt on a video. I always see him on the background at Madd’s birthday party, at the beach in Africa with Angie, walking out to the car with Brad and Angie but never this. He reminds me of Mario Lopez. I think Bill and Jane are very lucky, they raised thier kids to be generous.

I have a suggestion for a future discussion topic related to this one and all JP philanthropy:
CHARITY - GOOD, BAD, INEFFECTIVE?
The good is obvious, I think - saving lives, helping people in dire emergencies and in need (like refugees, Katrina survivors & Springfield kids).
The argument that charity is bad: it encourages dependency and irresponsibility, people should pull themselves up with their bootstraps. For example (from perez’ blog):
“I am totally all for wanting children to have enough for general living (toothbrushes of their own, etc.), but wouldn’t the problem of children living in poverty be solved if people planned better financially before getting into the “parent trap” of starting a family in the first place? ****Who are these people breeding who can’t even afford to care for them in the long term?”****
(My husband thinks people should have $100,000 in the bank before they’re allowed to ‘breed.’
;-) )
The case for charity being ineffective: too many & too much need, just a drop in the bucket, there will always be poverty, Africa/Asia/Latin America/Appalachia/urban areas will always be like that. (These folks don’t know the story of the little boy & the starfish.)
And in all cases, shouldn’t America come first, last, only & always? And if the JPs are donating for certain causes, how come they’re ignoring everyone else? After all, they’re celebrity millionaires and can and should solve everyone’s problems.

You never have enough money too have kids, you just go ahead and have them and do the best you can. Perez’s comments and having $100, 000 in the bank before you have kids, are not things I like to hear. You are basically saying that only the rich should have children and the poor are not good enough to have kids. And one more thing why should America come first what makes America so much better then every one else. If people would stop thinking of them selves as this country or that country and just think of your self as humans on planet Earth thing might just improve around here.

Ligaya,
Perez really needs to think beyond himself. Learn a bit about his country, because running his mouth off just highlights his ignorance. Isn’t New Orleans part of America anymore? What about Missouri??!! What about the thousands who have lost jobs to no fault of their own?? Should their children be denied any basic help because of it? No wander he seems to love Jen, they have selfishness and shallowness in common.
*Kim;
Good points. People have no idea re: the poor impression the outside world has about America these days.

CLARIFICATIONS: I should have done this sooner. PerezHilton the person is actually blameless in my garbled quotes in this thread. Actually, he’s been pretty decent & unsnarky to the JPs lately - unlike when I first surfed his site. His posters, OTOH, are definitely a mixed bag.
Kim, it was my husband with tongue-in-cheek mocking a poster in the PerezHilton website, hubby followed up the poster’s suggestion by saying folks should be required to have $100K before being allowed to have kids. You probably missed the wink icon ending the sentence. Sorry for the mix-up. But your response to the OP with the arrogant sense of entitlement in PH’ blog was right on.
BlessBrangelina, that wasn’t from Perez himself, it was from one of his nasty posters. Again, so sorry I didn’t write my posts clearer. And your point is very valid - I run into that kind of ignorant ‘thinking’ every couple of days.
So why am I reading Perez’ blog, you may ask? Good question. PW is the only blog I check daily, several times daily. I also surf Lainey’s site, Jezebel, tmz, popsugar & JJ when I have time. Between those, I figure I’ll catch the important JP news/rumors. I also get Yahoo & Google alerts on the JPs. IMO, PW & Lainey are the only completely reliable ones.
