Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - Couple of the Year
It looks like Us Weekly is trying to make up for its past of occasionally printing malicious gossip - the newest issue shows that Us Weekly has named Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Couple of the Year. The pair are on the new cover.
The magazine said that regardless of whether people loved or hated them, America (and the rest of us, I presume) “couldn’t stop watching” them between their busy careers, adding a new child to the family (Pax in March), and all their wonderful humanitarian efforts. They made a reference to Brad’s New Orleans project.
Apparently they beat out Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes who came in second.

Hahaha to me this cover is nothing but a way for Us to make some money. Apparently the people at Us have finally gotten that people are bored of the wedding or baby bump or break up stories.
I definitely agree that Brad and Angie are couple of the year!!!!!
But I believe this award is just a phony one. Like it’ll mean more if it came from a different mag. Preferably a more reliable one. (you know like an oscar win is better than a MTV win.)

i am begging the posters here, please don’t make the mistake of reading the comments at US. the people there are deranged and without any human decency.
someone posted recently on JJ that we should be prepared to see the most outrageous accusations against angie and brad in the upcoming weeks and months, because it’s award season. ok people, paraphrasing bette davis “please fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride”.
i often wonder in reference to the internet, which came first, the mean and vulgar miscreants who needed an outlet for their insanity, or the internet bred mean and nasty miscreants. someone should do a thesis on this.

They are trying to amend to what they write before about Brad & Ange. They finally realize fans of Brad & Ange will not buy their magazine if they write lies left & right about them. Hopefully, this will be the start to clean their tabloids, they should only write the truth & no lies please about Brad & Ange. Brad & Ange are always the couple of the year, there are things about them that others HW stars don’t have. I congratulate Brad & Ange , they really deserved the title. God bless the Jolie-Pitt.

Ha ! The general public Fiiiiiiiiinally catches on with the undeniable: Brad and Angie are off the charts cool. Maybe that’s why people had to try and find fault with them all the time because they went so far beyond anyone besides maybe Mother Theresa (O.K. that’s an exageration) in following through on their ideals that people couldn’t quite believe it was true.
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise don’t even come close to being as fab — besides their cool baby and their stylish clothes.

it’s not right to judge a person just because of a not so good comment she gave in the past. people and opinion changes. angie might have called shiloh a blob before - what’s the big deal? i’m sure her perception about shiloh now changed. a mother couldn’t resist her child especially shiloh - her biological daughter.

Oh, stop with the “blob” comments. totally taken out of context and so old news. Angie was just remarking on what all mothers know-that newborns are really not as aware as babies are when they progress. All REAL moms know this and can relate. Who among real mothers does not agree. Babies do not develop personalities until at least 4-6 months. Gwen Steffani made the same comment and no one made a big issue about it. Stop with the negativity.

I don´t think it´s the blob comment that people base their negative feelings on. After all, it really is not a bad comment. And she just agreed to that term, that´s all.
But she seems to have a “rescue” drive, and it makes perfect sense to me that she could maybe not quite relate to a normally born child. But - I wouldn´t know that, and neither would any of you. Neither of us knows Angelina at all.
As for the tabloids not liking her - I think she alienated a lot of people with her strange behaviour in the past. Most people are just not into cutting themselves or sado-masochistic sex. Or not being able to feel close to someone unless you injure yourself. She definitely had mental problems, but it seems she overcame them. But the memory of all these weird interviews probably still stick with lots of people.
Plus, the way she so quickly came into Brad Pitt´s life after he split up with his wife also didn´t leave a good feeling with lots of people.
It has to be said, though, that she is extremely intelligent and articulate and does an awful lot of good. Her tireless ambition to change the world really has to be admired, and is a great example.

True, Irma and gena. Hopefully, this is not a bait and switch tactic by US. It’s taking the rags a long time but eventually they have to realize that by continuously printing lies about the JPs, they are antagonizing a lot of fans who will boycott their mags and force them into the red.
If they play fair, then maybe we will eventually forgive and who knows help with their sales. That’s just a possibility since we have such long memories what with their many transgressions. Let’s see if they remain consistent in their fairness.
Boy, it’s good to be JPs’ fans. There are legions of us and as I said, collectively, we can exert such tremendous pressure and influence. Movie execs are listening and continue to offer them great roles. Maybe rags like US are following suit.

Always surprises me that allaboutme, for all her loathing towards angie can be bothered to visit a fan site—to actually go out of one’s way and type this website. That’s some pretty intense loathing, and a waste of time. If you don’t like Angie, then, don’t bother with her.
And that’s right, Gwen was never pelted by the media for making the same comment about her son. And it wasn’t even Angie who offered the term but the person who interviewed her. Sheesh, if people are going to criticize her, at least get the story straight.

At least how this is for me. I really like Brad Pitt, but don´t care about AJ. I have nothing against her - I just feel totally neutral towards her. I am surprised how many people out here are fans of both of them.

b) about Brad & Angelina & their family;
c) when posting about Angelina only:
1. complimentary comments are allowed
2. fair, factual & true critical comments
are allowed
3. untrue, unproven & derogatory
comments are allowed
I think it’s fine to not be an Angelina fan. I have problems with posters’ comments which are lies, distortions, misrepresentations & prevarications.
Let’s all face the music, you may be able to separate Brad from Angelina in your heart & mind. Maybe they’ll break up tomorrow. But for the past 3 years, by his actions & by his words, Brad has made it clear that he has chosen Angelina, and chosen to raise a family with her. Never mind their being soulmates in relation to humanitarianism & philanthrophy.

P.S. You’re surprised that there’s lots of us who are fans of both Angelina & Brad. Actually, kinda like you I wasn’t a fan of Brad’s and I was neutral about him. He’s been winning me over gradually, and I’m totally a fan now with his MIR/Pink Project.
I came to pittwatch because I was searching the net for a site that admired Angelina as much as I did - but without wars between those for and anti-Angelina. And without the craziness of the net in general - the flamings, etc.
This calm oasis is positively paradise compared to the blogosphere. Thank goodness.

US Weekly should not be trusted–EVER! And I hope fans are not lulled into buying this issue just because it seems positive.
They are the original instigators of most of the anti-Angie reports, twisting her words, questioning her intergrity and telling outright lies. US weekly created this environment. The others are just following in their footsteps.

Yay, Ligaya. No offense, Sophia, but I deem this site as a fan site. It’s not solely Angelina’s, but she is certainly a big feature here. See, it’s okay to have an opinion of her and to not like her, but it’s just hard to understand why a person who clearly dislikes her will continue to invest their attention in her and then, inject his/her negativity in an otherwise harmonious site/forum for fans. And the thing is, I have been visiting this site for quite a bit now, and most comments coming from allaboutme are simply toxic ones. They aren’t even constructive criticisms, but rather, jabs–short mean-spirited quips about Angelina (even Brad) and the fans. I’ve encountered commenters from other forums who can muster a dissenting opinion that is not lacking in maturity and respect; and there is at least a semblance of rationality there, nothing that resembles the rationality of a vicious rag. If allaboutme shows at least an iota of respect and maturity, then, I wouldn’t be harping on her.

My comment’s awaiting moderation right now, but I’ll just point this out Sophia. I don’t mean any disrespect to you, but just because this site is titled Pittwatch, it doesn’t mean it is solely a Brad site. Angelina is clearly a big feature here. Actually, many of us on here deem Pittwatch as a site devoted to the Pitt family, and that includes Angelina. A person who visits this site doesn’t have to be an Angelina fan, but if the comments about her are going to be dissenting, they should at least maintain some respect and maturity, not childish retorts. And with allaboutme, it has always been that toxic, and I believe, not even Brad has escaped her quips.
It just doesn’t make sense why someone would continue to bother with someone they dislike. I doubt it’s ennui, though maybe boredom can drive someone to be a troll . . .

I for one cannot believe that some rehashed quote is getting so much attention. Who regurgitated this mess? Having been an Angelina Jolie fan forever, I was somewhat dismayed that Brad would be a fit, but time (as it always does) is the proof. Sit back relax and let the waves roll in…Pittwatch has been a place to learn more about them through the insights of true fans…as well as links by Sherry and many, many others. I myself as Ange fan first, 2nd Brad, now, I found myself very much a fan of them both. I really admire & respect them on & off the glitter life of HW. I truly believe that Brad met Ange at the right time & same with Ange when she needed someone to be her life partner & father to her son Mad.After 3 years they are still together & very much in love & been blessed with 4 adorable children. Who can blame Brad for being happy & content & it shows how good fatherhood to him. They showed us & to the world, how you can combine success & being famous, keep your family intact together despite of the whirlwind travel around the globe. They are the busiest coupe of HW & still the busiest parents & still managed to find time to set a date with each other & give love, attention & concern to their kids & to their humanitarian works. They are truly the best couple of 2008. God bless them always.

i am not a fan of brad’s ex-wife, but i certainly don’t believe the gossip i read about her in the tabloids. we fans know that not everyone will admire the JPs, and find them as fascinating as we do. but we at least hope that people would start being more discerning and objective when they hear the outrageous rumours about angie. come on, nobody could be this awful. and to the fans, please understand that this was a british magazine, and they have different ways of saying some things that is in no way derogatory. to them calling a baby a “blob” is just an innocent expression. the us media made a mountain out of a molehill.
it’s almost 2008, it is time for this hatred and viciousness to stop. i honestly don’t know how the editors for these rags sleep at nights

Mariane is asked if there is anything she would say to her husband if he could now hear her. The answer in and of itself is brief and obvious (“I love you”), but the sing-song, knee-jerk reflexivity of Jolie’s line-reading is heartrending, and a reminder that sometimes the most obvious sentiment is still the most poignant..
Having danced along the razor’s edge of doubt, hope and steadfastness for its entire running time, the declaration feels emotionally devastating. Shalom y paz, Pittwatchers! Time flies during the holidays, and it’s already the end of week 2 of the Make It Right/Pink Project. Today I read that $3.5 million of the $5 million to match Brad’s $5 million donation has been raised (http://www.thetowntalk.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071214/NEWS01/71214011). Awesome! That’s excellent news! That $3.5 million includes OUR donations – yay!
The 1st week, 14 of us gave $2425 (!!!) + 5 gave unspecified amounts + 3 made pledges. Doesn’t it feel good? This 2nd week, Akishdebaba & Heather added $65 to our total = $2490 ($10 more dollars and we will have donated the equivalent of a roof solar panel to help cut 75% off energy bills for a lifetime). Actually, I’m sure we’re over $2500 because Ranch donated an unspecified amount.

I was so happy to read that Us weekly named Brad and Angie couple of the year. I just love the way this couple love their children. As for Tom and Katie being second that is wrong!! All I see them is parading themselves and Suri what about Tom’s other forgotten children? Wouldn’t they like to see daddy’s premiers as well.
