Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie score high
July 16, 2008 by Sherry

One of my favorite sites for general pop culture news and gossip is PopSugar. This week they released their top 100 celebrities. Guess who made an appearance on their list?
Oh except, they didn’t just appear - Brad Pitt ranked in at number two. They refer to him as an A-lister who is getting better with age, and I couldn’t agree more. They also mention his underrated film, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and his two upcoming films, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Burn After Reading. Naturally, they pointed out how he also balances his busy work life so well with his most important role - being a dad - and being a humanitarian.
And, as should be expected, considering the baited breath around the world while everyone waited for her to give birth, Angelina Jolie came in at number one. They mentioned her status as a great mom and a humanitarian first and foremost, then pointed out that she continues to impress on the screen as well. Angie also ranked as PopSugar’s number one female star of 2007, so clearly she’s on a role!
No surprises, really!

They only deserve it.
BOO YAH!! CONGRATULATIONS, ANGELINA & BRAD!! NO ONE ELSE DESERVES IT MORE THAN YOU!!!
I can’t think of any other celebrities more deserving. They are the most down to earth, generous and beautiful people in the entertainment industry.

Little does Brad and Angelina’s baby boy, Knox, know how close he came to be called Rex. A spy tells us that just six weeks ago, the star couple ordered an embroidered play mat from plainmary.com for “Rex Leon Jolie Pitt.” He’s still getting one of the $190 mats (with a new monogram), as is his sister Vivienne.
Congratulations to Brad & Angie. They are always # 1 my book. They deserved the title, good for them.
leila: I read that too, I like Knox better than Rex.
God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s family.
I hope the family is able to leave the hospital unnoticed by the paparazzi. They should probably leave at night or really early in the morning.
A rumor from Jossip….
“Angelina Jolie is today expected to leave the hospital in Nice, France — where she gave birth to twins Knox and Vivienne — via helicopter. The same way she arrived.
Enterprising photographers have already chartered their own choppers to snap shots of her mid-flight, while legally responsible photographers will understand France’s privacy laws might get them in trouble for that sort of thing.”
Emilie - I hope that’s not true. Chasing down a helicopter to get photos in mid-air is not only ridiculous and over the top, it sounds incredibly dangerous. What the hell is wrong with people?! Don’t they remember cameras chasing down Princess Diana for a picture and how that ended?
Sherry & Emilie, I was actually thinking that, that the paps might just do that. The paps that were shown sneaking onto the rooftop buildings (on Access Hollywood) were making their way there through air conditioning vents/crawl space.
I hope the paps would exercise enough common sense and humane behavior by precluding any notions of a helicopter shot/chase. But maybe the JPs already have a plan to leave that hospital unnoticed.
THEY SCORE HIGH TO ME EVERYDAY. THEY DESERVE IT. CONGRATULATION BRAD AND ANGIE ,YOU TWO ARE THE BEST. I LOVE U BOTH.
oops, yeah, with regards to the rooftop sneaking, i just meant that i wouldn’t put it past the paps to do something crazy as chartering a helicopter to follow the pitts.
Hi Sherry, thank you for the news.
I just adores this beautiful couples, they ‘re both beautiful inside and out .
Congratulations Brad and Angie you are the best !
It scares me when reading that the paps might chase the couple by helicopters to get photos of the twins. I really hope that it is not true and that Brad, Angie and the twins will get home safely.
Sherry I was thinking the same thing about Princess Diane. I just pray that they get out and home safely. I have the feeling that we will not be seeing to many pictures of the Jolie-Pitts out and about anytime soon. And I do not blame them. This frenzy is getting completely out of hand. I love the pictures but not at the cost of them being hounded. As for Angie #1 and Brad #2 they deserve it. I have been calling them a Power Couple for a long time now. I am not sure if Brad and Angie really want all this as they have to spend so much time hiding out with their children. I pray they get home safely.
I hope they get the pics of the twins out as soon as possible then maybe all this hype and craziness will calm down. I really hope AJ and the kids just hide out at that house for 6 months, then maybe people won’t be so obsessed about them. Out of site out of mind theory.
I hope they get home safely, without the paps chasing them. I hope they are healthy and the paps leave them alone. I’m willing to go through a picture drought if it means that they are not being hounded and get some peace. I’m not suprised at all that they received 1st and 2nd place. I love how they talk about Angelina being a mom and humanitarian first, and actress second.
(Victoria, I answered your post about being a JP fan in the “Brad emotional” thread - naturally, it’s under moderation.

Re: “Leila, little does Knox know he came close to being called Rex.”
Woahhh, glad that happened. Knox is better than Rex ! Which means king in Greek (?) I think it would be a little obnoxious to call your kid king, especially, ehem, if he happens to be from royalty of sorts. I didn’t like Knox in the beginning but it’s definitely growing on me. I thought Pax sounded weird too at first but now I’m used to it and it sounds great… and seems to suit Pax really well.
The one name Angie chose which I am not so keen on is Zahara. I like the short, Z, but Zahara sounds too much like the Sahara desert, which seems a little corny to me.
(Melodie, I answered your post about teaching the JPs French
in the “Brad emotional” thread.)
Rex reminds me of a dinosaur. lol. Knox is more cooler.
congrats to Brad and Angie.
And Rex is a very popular name for dogs. Our dog’s name was Rex.
LoL kari Rex is king in Latin. (I hate latin, awful language to study)
I like the names Brad and Angie chooses. Maddox is an awesome name. I like Pax and Zahara and Shiloh too. And Know and Vivenne are also great names. =]
Oh, my beautiful family, I feel very happy about them. Congratulations for cutes babies.
ligaya, read your post - thanx for alerting me, I would have never gone back to that thread anymore!
Kari, I always felt the same about the name Zahara. It lacks the originality of the other names, but my top names really are Shiloh (never knew that beautiful name before) and Vivienne (a truly elegant, stylish and classy name I´ve always loved). Knox I´m not too keen about - sounds a bit like knock knock, but of course it´s their choice, not mine!!

the sexiest man alive is also the luckiest man alive for having the sexiest woman alive as his partner, soul mate, best friend, mother of his children, etc..
I wanted to remind myself of what the kids’ names meant. Linda Rosenkrantz, co-author of The Baby Name Bible. http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2007-03-15-jolie-kids-names_N.htm
•Maddox Chivan, 5: Cambodian-born son named Rath Vibol. Maddox is a Celtic or Welsh name meaning “beneficent,” but Chivan [I THOUGHT I READ THAT THIS WAS A CAMBODIAN WORD.] has no origin, says Rosenkrantz. “It’s a name that certainly has not been used in the last century.” LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HIS NICKNAME MAD.
•Pax Thien, 3: changed from Pham Quang Sang, and his new name means “peaceful sky” in two languages. Pax means “peace” in Latin; Thien is Vietnamese for “sky.” Rosenkrantz says Pax is a rarely used moniker, though its Spanish version (Paz) is much more common.
•Zahara Marley, 2: Born Tena Adam, Zahara means “flower” in Swahili and “to shine” in Hebrew. Marley comes from reggae singer Bob Marley, a name Rosenkrantz says is popular for both boys and girls. LOVE HER NICKNAME “Z.”
•Shiloh Nouvel, 10 months: Of Hebrew origin, Shiloh means “peaceful one,” and Rosenkrantz says it is a name that’s catching on for both sexes. The middle name is a homage to Jean Nouvel, a famous French architect who is among Pitt’s favorites.
under mod: meaning of JP kids’ names
NOT surprised at all. Brad is so like fine wine.
Am most amused that most of those who expressed dislike for Angie on there, admit to “loving” Brad very much. :LOL
So all the name calling is about the “green eyed” monster and not necessarily the truth.
I don’t believe the NYDN about the name! They are on a par with US, Star and IT etc
More thoughts on the kids’ names:
Victoria:
I agree with your take on Shiloh and Vivienne completely.
(”Shiloh (never knew that beautiful name before) and Vivienne (a truly elegant, stylish and classy name I´ve always loved).”)
I think Mad, Pax and Knox are all cute, funky, not too serious, original boys’ names. I lived in France for a while and it was really in vogue to give your kid a crazy cartoonish name that nobody had. Like “Tintin” (from the well known comic French comic book); Ulyses (!); Otto etc etc. I kind of got used to the idea and came to think it was pretty cute and cool. (Though my favorite boy’s name is Diego — very sexy.)
What I like about these kinds of names for guys is that it makes them sound like they don’t take themselves too seriously.
My little brother is called Max(well)- reminds me a bit of Mad(dox). Well, I can say one thing: It works FAB for him. It’s a name not that many people have, it stands out, it sounds cool, masculine, original and sexy. I know he likes having that name a lot.
Zaraha - yeah I like the short a lot, Z. But I do find that Zaraha is not as elegant or fine sounding as Shiloh and Vivienne. But fortunately it can be shortened to Z !
Parents usually run through a whole litany of names and strike a chore with the one that best fix. So I’m not going to second guess them.
I can’t separate the name, the names’s meaning, and the child. Before I was reminded that Zahara meant shining flower (maybe blossoming flower is another interpretation), I just took a cue from Zahara’s personality & my imagination. Zahara did make me think of the Sahara Desert, and Z is a fierce & joyful little girl. I imagined her a fierce leader of her nomadic tribe in the desert – intelligent, fearless, skilrled in tactics, weapons & martial arts, riding camels & horses, flying planes & helicopters. Also a healer, linguist, negotiator/peacekeeper. Very much like her mother (and a little like Lawrence of Arabia & Dr. Zhivago). The JP kids names in the order I like most: Zahara, Mad, Pax, Shi, Vivi, Knox.
hi im sure angie misses her mom right know i know i whould also tell angie i have a bad feeling about all the water around them and the young kids faillling in i have a pool so this comes to mind good luck with the new kids brandy
