Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie skip People’s Choice Awards but they’re back in L.A.!
January 8, 2009 by Sherry

Remember how Brad Pitt said, during his W magazine interview that he’s “just another a–hole on the streets” when he’s wearing a helmet and driving his motorcycle? Well, that’s exactly what he was doing yesterday in Los Angeles. You can see him here, motoring around the L.A. streets.
I love that he grew a goatee from the mustache. Although I know he needed the mustache for his role in Inglourious Basterds, I was not a fan of the mustache, really. Brad’s goatee looks great though!
Despite being in Los Angeles, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were not at the People’s Choice Awards last night. I’m not sure why there didn’t attend since they were both nominated for awards, but maybe they had a prior engagement that prevented them from going. It’s too bad because it means no red carpet photos for us, and they also each won.
Brad won the People’s Choice for favorite leading man. Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie won the People’s Choice for favorite female action star.
I wish we could have seen them on the red carpet, but there’s still a chance that they’ll be at the Critic’s Awards tonight, and I can’t imagine that they’ll miss the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. Keep your fingers crossed!

brad looks so cute
will CCA be aired tonight?
yayy! i hope they will attend CCA and GGA.
goodluck to both of them and congrats for their awards on PCA.
if ever they’re attending, i wonder what color will be Angie’s dress?
I´m sure they will be attending at least Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. My predicition is that Angie will be wearing a beautiful black dress and Brad will look handsome as ever! Hopefully they´ll be attending CCA tonight but it´s unlikely since it´s princess Zee´s birthday!
Nice to see that they are back in LA. I have miss see them, hopefully we will see them on the RC. Congrats to them for winning on PCA. I’ts good to know fans love them enough to vote for them.
it’ll be aired on VH1, 8:30 live from RC and the award show is by 9pm.
Congratulations to them for their wins!
This isn’t exactly a prestigious awards show, but the people did make the choice, and well, it speaks volumes as to how much these 2 are adored by a lot.
I thought Zahara’s birthday was yesterday and if so that would be a pretty special day for their daughter to miss. So happy they recieved awards, both very deserving.

Brad Pitt Gets Love Lesson, Golden Globe Nod From ‘Curious Case Of Benjamin Button’
‘Any love involves loss, and that’s the risk you take,’ actor says of backward-aging flick.
By Jocelyn Vena
The Golden Globes are only days away — and MTV News will be here all week long to get you geared up for the big night with profiles, previews and fashion galore. It all comes to a head Sunday night, when we’ll have more coverage than you can throw a shiny statuette at. Mark your calendars: Sunday, January 11, is the night, and this is the place to be!
Brad Pitt had one curious year. The actor continued his charity work in New Orleans, added to his already-large brood of children and, thanks to his roles in “Burn After Reading” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” once again proved that he’s a lot more than just a pretty face — not that anyone ever complains about that last part.
Pitt fought for many causes this year, including his work in New Orleans’ Ninth Ward. “Our goal was two-pronged: to get people back in homes and to advance the idea of sustainability,” he told MTV News when we visited Pitt’s Make It Right project in the hurricane-ravaged city last December.
In addition to his efforts in New Orleans, Pitt is also a longtime supporter of gay marriage. This fall, he donated $100,000 to fight California’s Proposition 8. “No one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it,” he said in a statement about his decision to donate.
And when he wasn’t making headlines with his philanthropy or his ever-expanding family, Pitt’s film roles also had people talking in 2008. He hooked up with several of his frequent collaborators, like George Clooney and Tilda Swinton (who both appeared with him in “Burn After Reading”). And after reteaming with director David Fincher, he’s up for a Golden Globe in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama category for his role in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”
The film gave Pitt the chance to reflect on his very public personal life. “It’s a tragedy in the sense that any love involves loss, and that’s the risk you take,” he said of the flick about a backward-aging man. “And the greater the love, the greater the loss. I certainly feel that now with the woman I’m with and the children that I have. But whatever the course may be, this time together is extraordinary.”
Somewhere along the way, he’s found time to line up a slew of projects for 2009, including Quentin Tarantino’s WWII flick “Inglourious ********,” as well as the 1950s drama “The Tree of Life.” For “Inglourious,” he’s had to sport some interesting facial hair — a choice he’s jokingly defended. “It’s fashion. Who am I without creative facial hair?” he told People. “I consider it very brave.”

‘Benjamin Button’ deserves accolades

Brad Pitt stars as Benjamin Button in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”
By John Depko and Susanne Perez
Eric Roth wrote one of the great screenplays of all time in “Forrest Gump.”
It focused on a unique central character over several decades of his life. It gave ample opportunity for reflection on American history and culture during that span.
Roth does another outstanding variation on this theme in his current masterpiece, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”
Benjamin is a very strange child. He is born in 1918 as an elderly wrinkled infant who ages backward. He gets younger as the years pass while his family and friends get older.
This plot device allows for many sage observations of human nature, society and the major world events of the 20th century.
The marathon story does not end until Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans in 2005. While epic in scope, it’s also profoundly emotional in recounting the personal relationships of Benjamin’s long life lived in reverse.
Brad Pitt deserves a Best Actor nod for his performance in the demanding starring role. Cate Blanchett is magnificent as the central love interest of his unusual life.
Tilda Swinton is among many other fine actors who make meaningful appearances that add to the depth and quality of this riveting tale.
Production values are top notch. The cinematography, set design, directing and screenplay should all be in line for Academy nominations. This is a modern film classic and a sure candidate for Best Picture.

The Curious Case Of Brad Pitt
In “The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button,” high-tech special effects played a hefty role in transforming Brad Pitt from an elderly man to an infant. Pitt gives an exclusive look behind the scenes.

Helgeland on board Noyce’s Salt
Kurt Wimmer’s script for “Salt” (previously titled “Edwin A. Salt” and at that stage set to star Tom Cruise) is apparently pretty darn good. The Phil Noyce-helmed flick, which tells of a CIA officer who is fingered as a Russian sleeper spy, is set to encompass some terrific action, great spades of suspense and a terrifically meaty role for the foxy lead. But silver’s not good enough for Sony, so they’re going for Gold.
Word around the slightly-cold streets of Hollywood today is that Oscar Winning screenwriter (and director) Brian Helgeland has been hired by Sony to do a quick pass thru on the script, punching up the dialogue, before its March 2nd start date.
Sony want this to be one of their key releases of the next twelve months – if only because they’re hoping this first chapter will spin-off into a franchise (with Ms Jolie back as Evelyn Salt).
Helgeland’s somewhat of a saving grace in Hollywood. He’s been hired to rewrite such scripts as “The Bourne Supremacy” and “Assassins” and the films have been all the more better for it. The man knows character – and you only have to check out one of his scripts (say this one here, for “L.A Confidential”) to see how crafty he is at writing converse.
Helgeland, of course, wrote (and consequently won an Oscar for) “L.A Confidential”, “Payback”, “Mystic River” and the upcoming “Nottingham”. This’ll be his first collaboration with director Noyce (“Patriot Games”, “Rabbit Proof Fence”).
Paramount Pictures has acquired life rights to intelligence operative Kathi Lynn Austin, whose adventures in arms trafficking and terrorism will inspire an action thriller vehicle for Angelina Jolie.
Austin, who has most recently worked on contract for the U.N. Security Council, has undertaken field missions in Africa, Europe, Southeast Asia and Central America. The drama will focus on a fictional arms dealer inspired by Victor Bout, the shadowy Russian who is considered one of the world’s most prolific dealers in illegal munitions.
Media Talent Group’s Geyer Kosinski will produce.
Catalyst for the package was Kosinski, who manages Jolie and has looked long and hard for a premise that’s rooted in reality and has franchise potential.
Meanwhile, Austin signed with IPG’s Joel Gotler to tell her story. After Austin and Gotler met with Kosinski, they developed a pitch that was similar in spirit to “The Bourne Identity.” Paramount production president Brad Weston bought it immediately.
Z’s personality must be in full swing now. Four year olds are pretty cognizant of their immediate environment and Z has to know this is HER day, and will be sad if her parents don’t have a special day planned for her that includes their presence.
congrats to both of them
! I thought Zees b-day was yesterday, maybe that’s why they didn’t go? or maybe they’re the type to celebrate b-day week instead of just one day lol. more fun for the kids!
and thank goodness for the goatee.
Hopefully, they celebrated Zahara’s birthday last night and will attend the award show tonight. A day wouldn’t make a difference to a 4 year old! That would explain why they didn’t make the award show last night. It’s an honor to win a People’s Choice Award but clearly the Critics’ awards hold more weight.
There’s a yummy pic of Brad on bike yesterday. He looks very tanned too, even under the helmet’s viser(sp).
And I guess congratulations are in order for PCA.
i’m sure they will attend one of the ceremony (maybe both): for me, it’s the reason they’re back in LA (maybe they never leave LA, but stayed at home!)
it’s great they won, congrats to both of them!
i’m sure angie’ll wear light color, like white or grey, or light brown. she didn’t wear black so much for the BIG red carpet.
i’m happy to know where they are in this moment!
Glad to know the whole family are back in L.A. I hope to see them soon at the red carpet.
Happy birthday Z, it seems like yesterday & now look at her 4 years old & a cutie pie.I really love the way she smiles, she is full of joy & happiness.
God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
Congrats on their win at the People’s Choice awards. Like many of you I miss seeing them on the RC so I hope they will be able to attend at least one of the awards show.
Both are deserving for the awards. congratulations brad and Angie. and hope for many more awards to come by the way Zahara is growing so beautifully, happy b-day little girl. hope you have the best b=day. hello everyone,
fans at JJ said Brad & Angie are there at CCA. Can’t wait to see the pictures & videos. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
i’ve heard the correspondent mentioned that brad and angelina just arrived. omg.
Look forward to seeing them both on the RC! I want to see Angie in a bit more colour but black is great, too! This girl looks gorgeous in anything!
angie is so pretty. ponytailed hair, simple and elegant. i’m not quite sure if she’s wearing a silky white dress or light pink. brad is handsome.
Yeah, they look great. Angelina looks stunning. I like what she’s wearing. Simple. Elegant. Though it doesn’t fall in my style, I like it. Brad looks very dapper.
And the dress is not black!
Neutral color, but still nice to see her in something other than black.
JJ has first photos of Angie and Brad on the Critics Choice Awards RC. They look stunning!
Just Jared has photos of Brad and Angelina at the Critics Choice Awards and they look FANTASTIC !
i just saw the pics at JJ – beautiful
. there’s one pic where Brad is standing behind Angie and Angie is looking towards her left – she looks like a Greek Goddess – with one heck of an Adonis right next to her
.
oh well they didn’t win but they’re appearance made my night.
i meant to say their, i was typing too fast.
Slumdog Millionaire swiped the awards.
For those PittWatchers who asked, Zee Zee’s birthday was indeed today, the 8th (yes, I’m such a fan of the family that I know the birthdays of each of the kids!).
What time was the Critics’ Choice Awards? If it was later in the evening, Zee Zee was probably in bed and thus didn’t mind her parents being gone.
UNDER MOD- Zee Zee’s birthday and wondering what time the CCAs were.
They probably spent the whole day with Zee and all of the others and then came out for a play date at night.
Happy belated Birthday Z!!!!! May you have many more
