Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino?

July 10, 2008 by Sherry

Apparently, Quentin Tarantino wants Brad Pitt in his next movie. The massively successful director is supposedly discussing his World War II film Inglorious Bastards with Brad. The movie would feature a group of soldiers who are left behind enemy lines to fend for themselves.

Although the Jolie-Pitt twins have not been born yet, the filming is only slated to start sometime in October. If they’re born before July is over, that would give him almost three months at home with his family. Also, no telling how short or long the filming time would be for him - if Quentin’s serious about wanting Brad in his movie, maybe he could work some scheduling out.

Can I just say YES PLEASE to this? Quentin Tarantino movies are notoriously violent and thus they aren’t for everyone, but I absolutely love him and I love every movie of his that I’ve ever seen. He’s brilliant and his movies are exciting. I would LOVE to see Brad Pitt teaming up with Quentin Tarantino so much.

What do you think?

I guess I would like to see Brad Pitt in a Quentin Tarantino film, because it would be a more exciting and original film than the typical Hollywood fare.

However — and I don’t otherwise consider myself a wimp — I find Tarantino’s tendency to show and build his plot around over the top gruesome violence deeply disturbing. Speaking of which there was a horrible massacre of two French students in London a few days ago and it was termed the Tarantino murder by the media, because of the unprecedented level of violence in the attacks.

OK… so this is not the most positive of posts. But I hope it’s OK.

I love Quentin & think Brad would be a perfect match. Like someone said, Brad’s a great character actor stuck in a leading man’s body. Brad’s best roles have been the un-pretty boy roles.

One of the trades said Inglorious Bastards is on the fast track because they want it to premiere at Cannes next May - where they think Quentin is a god.

I would definately like to see this. Quentin is admired and seen as an inspiration by many. He can only turn out something good! And also, i’d love to see Brad in some kind of war movie. He can pull off anything from serious and violent (Fight Club) to comical and gentle (Mr and Mrs Smith). I’d like his talents to be used to the max. As we can see his fathering talents are being used up to the max now hehe. Btw i had a dream last night that Ange had her twins and they were both girls. We’ll see though.. Eep! I still can’t contain my giddy self! Peace and love to you all.

  5. Victoria says:

I agree with you, Kari. I could never understand the reason for making a film where the plot is built around over the top violence. And I can understand even less why someone would bother watching a movie with explicitly violent scenes. This is not meant as an accusation against anyone here who enjoys such movies - I am just puzzled as to what there is about them that is enjoyable.

  6. isacutie says:

A BP-QT team up is going to be something to look forward too. I also think Quentin’s movies aren’t for everyone, but I liked most of them and it would be cool to have Brad act in one of QT’s movies.

  7. angela says:

i’d love to see them teaming up for a movie.

OT: does anybody know if Holly have given birth already?

  8. dhc says:

I confess both to not knowing Tarantino’s work, and preferring Brad Pitt in his “pretty boy” roles, but also I thought he was to do The Fighter movie in October. I haven’t heard much about that movie lately, and it seems like there is a lot of casting changes last minute in movies these days. Anyone know more about The Fighter movie details?

  9. Traci says:

Brad and QT would totally make my year!

  10. BRANGELINA FOREVER says:

Sherry, did you like Hostel? I for one was so disappointed. There was only sex and lots of blood, and it had a weak plot. I hope if Brad does pair up with him, he uses Brad’s acting abilities instead of only his beautiful face. I’ve only seen two Tarantino movies, and only like 1 out of the two. I’m so waiting at the edge of my seat for news that the Jolie-Pitt twins have arrived!

  11. Rita says:

That “rumor” is from US Weekly…not the most trustworthy of sources, and they do say “calls to Tarentino were not returned”. Would be nice though, I totally agree.

As far as “The Fighter”…still in pre-production it seems, but Brad is apparently still signed on. See:

UPDATE: Quentin Tarantino Talking To Brad Pitt To Star In ‘Inglorious Bastards’

EXCLUSIVE: I’ve confirmed Quentin Tarantino is talking to Brad Pitt to star in Inglorious Bastards, the writer/director’s newly unveiled script being shopped right now to 4 Hollywood studios: Universal, Warner Bros, Paramount and Sony.

Tarantino himself has described it as a Spaghetti Western meets World II film that’s an homage to 1967’s The Dirty Dozen and its derivatives with a story about a group of soldiers on their way to be executed who get the chance of a reprieve.

I posted the BA/QT info on the “Brad Quotes” thread on July 8, but it was under mod so you may not have seen it. Also included were industry insiders’ reaction to Brad possibly being cast.

  14. ligaya says:

from spoutblog, reliable non-industry movie source:

Brad Pitt will maybe play a “‘hillbilly from the mountains of Tennessee, who has around his neck a scar from where he survived a lynching.”

  15. Mary Ann says:

I would enjoy a Tarentino/Pitt movie. It would be interesting hooking them up together.

  16. kim says:

While we are waiting how about posting your favorite interview of AJ or Brad. Maybe you guys could find somehting I haven’t read yet.

  17. BlessBrangelina says:

I think this would be a great pairing again. Brad was in True Romance (QT) and although he was only in it for 10mins it was the most memorable part of the film. He was hilarious as Floyd. :D

  18. ligaya says:

About movie violence, I still can’t make myself see Reservoir Dogs. The violence is offscreen, but somehow it seems more shocking than onscreen violence like Wanted that I can look at as cartoonish.

More on Brad’s possible role with links to 2 script reviews from reliable source http://www.darkhorizons.com/news08/080710g.php:

One section of the story follows Tennessee-born Lieutenant Aldo Raine (potentially Brad Pitt), a man in charge of a brutal American guerilla-style soldier squadron nicknamed the ‘bastards’ out on a mission to essentially end the war early.

Other facts gleaned is that Raine has a neck scar from where he survived a lynching (but it will never once be mentioned on screen).

i just found this today. It was written 6/13/06, but is very juicy & satisfying & relevant. I don’t mean sexually, I mean like a ripe mango, full & delicious. I’ve posted a comment about the article.

    http://www.cbc.ca/arts/film/jolie.html

Your article on Angelina Jolie was so well written, it put into clear words what opinion I was trying to form about her. I did not like her and did not know why. Perhaps it’s because she is so complex as a person that she is hard to pin down and somewhat scary. Perhaps it’s that she is so perfect. I now realize that she is a force to be recognized with, a fiercely independent woman who doesn’t care what others think, a blend between Mother Theresa (heart, hard working), Audrey Hepburn (beauty, grace under pressure, unselfishness) and a rock star (unconventional, fearless, brash). All in one package. Not bad.

I found a really great article about Angelina, new to me & one of the best I’ve read - UNDER MOD.

  21. Sherry says:

Brangelina Forever - Actually, I really did like Hostel. I didn’t expect to, and what was interesting was that it took my husband three attempts to watch it in segments. For me, with movies like that, it’s the psychological aspect that appeals to me, how there’s almost always one character who manages to survive whatever is going on and how they do it.

I enjoyed the sequel as well, it had a few good twists.

I love Tarantino movies though, and would love to see Brad in one. When I watched From Dusk Till Dawn, the action was so amazing that I completely forgot it was about vampires until halfway through the movie when they showed up.

  22. ligaya says:

Tarantino didn’t direct Hostel, did he? Wasn’t it Eli Roth? As for what movies people like to watch, different strokes for different folks as we said back in the day. Some people are revulsed by musicals & showtunes (can’t wait for MAMMA MIA!), some by violence of any kind, some by rom-coms/chick flicks, guy flicks or animation. Some avoid indies, genre action/superhero/sci-fi/fantasy flicks like the plague, also politically-themed flicks, documentaries & sub-titled foreign movies.

I liked the Iraq-war/9-11 movies but most people didn’t. None of the many dramas & documentaries succeeded with a wider audience, including A MIGHTY HEART, In tlhe Valley of Elah, Lions for Lambs, etc. That’s the way it is, I guess.

  23. Kari says:

    Ligaya,

Thanks for the link on the ripe as a mango article about Angelina. I thought it was a GREAT piece that does in fact BEGIN to get at what’s so amazing and revolutionary about Angelina.

  24. BRANGELINA FOREVER says:

Ligaya, thanks for the link. I love the comparison of Angelina Jolie with Audrey Hepburn. They’re two of my favorite actresses. Both are highly respected actresses, Oscar winners. Both worked…well, one is still working…with UN. I really respect that. And fashion wise, both are classy and elegant. (That green dress at Cannes! Gorgeous!) Changing subjects, Sherry, if you like psychological aspect, I really recommend High Tensions. It’s a French movie and so suspenseful.

  25. lu says:

This man is a little crazy, I don´t like his film with violence and blood.

  26. Rach says:

Understandable that some people don’t like watching violence. Solution? Don’t watch it! There’s always going to be violent films made because life isn’t all nice and people aren’t always gentle. Films can’t always be fiction but some good ones are based on fact. Some of the great classics are quite violent like Scarface and Pulp Fiction doesn’t mean they’re not good films and well made. It wouldn’t be a good film if they didn’t truly capture the essence of what it’s about. I like Quentins kind of twisted and sometimes disturbed way of thinking as it’s almost impossible for me to get slightly scared or stimulated by a predictable horror movie these days and the psychological aspect of most of his films get’s to me more than any scary-looking crazed man weilding a knife ever could. I hope my sweet Angelina is well..

Quentin Tarantino does look a little scary doesn’t he? Like one of the characters in his films… He looks like he good do some serious twisted damage, just for fun…

  30. BlessBrangelina says:

Thanks Ligaya for the two links. The added info on the script makes it even more intriguing.

Article about Angie is spot on, she is so many things all at once. And seems to juggle it all very well. If you are someone who is not confident and is easily “cowed” then you will end up hating her. Forgetting that she has seen her share of troubles/trauma, during her youth/young adult, in her relationships and in life in general.

Like a lot of other people she worked her way through it, and all that made her the person she is today.

  31. irma says:

Angie’s experienced as a teenager made her who she is today, matured, caring, loving individual. She learned from her mistakes & rise up despite of her shortcomings on her teenager years.I admire her because of that.
Extra said, she will have the twins on Tuesday. I doubt if this is true but hopefully, the twins are ready to come out anytime soon. God bless.

it would totally rock to see brad in a movie by quentin!

  33. happyforthem says:

Excellent links and discussiion this morning! Thanks to Sherry and all. There was an interview I read once that AJ spoke of the cutting times, and what was going on as well as what it taught her… as if she was talking to those who were currently considering it…does anyone know how to find that piece?

  34. dhc says:

There seem to be more and more reports of July 15 being the twins birthday either through a C-section or having Angelina’s labor induced. I keep trying to imagine who is supplying this information. I guess it could be leaked from hospital staff, but I am doubting it in general. Any thoughts?

  35. lulu says:

i just saw in justjared that angelina jolie gave birth to her twins and that they are both girls!
    isk if its trrue!
    but check it out!

  36. dhc says:

Wow! Now JustJared is saying In Touch announced she gave birth today at 6 p.m. French time via C-section to two healthy baby girls. If it is not true, it is embarassing for the press. If it is true, Yeah!

  37. irma says:

I”m not buying it about Angie giving birth specially from In Touch. I will celebrate once Brad or any reliable source announce it.
If Angie has given birth to twins, they share the same birthday as my g-son.
    God bless.

  38. ligaya says:

Consider the source - and their ’sources.’ Would hospital staff risk their livelihood by breaking patient confidentiality? I don’t know if there are legal consequences, but I’d guess that this might make it hard for them to get another job in the health field in France. This isn’t the UCLA medical center. Let’s think how many times In Touch has been right & wrong.

I’m signed up for Yahoo & Google Angelina alerts to be notified as soon as there is any news.
If anything comes in about the twins being born, I’ll post it ASAP.

This ‘news’ about July 15 being the date has been circulating for these couple of weeks - but none have been reliable sources, just speculation.

  39. Mary says:

The hospital spokesperson, Nadine Bauer says “not true, wrong information”, about In Touch’s exclusive. It seems they think that if they say it, she will have to give birth. It also means that none of their sources about anything related to Brad and Angelina are trustworthy.

I do agree, never, ever trust any tabloid, especially ones as bad as In touch, Star, Life and Style, National Enquirer, the Daily Mail or the Sun or any like those. Thanks.

  40. Lucy says:

I am not familiar with Tarantino movies so I cannot give an opinion about him. I just know that Brad is versatile enough to do any film including a spaghetti western. Do you remember Kalifornia where he was the bad guy? That was cool.

  41. gena G. says:

hello everyone. BRAD CAN DO ANY MOVIE HE WANTS. I LOVE HIM IN LEGENDS OF THE FALL. MAYBE TARANTINO WILL DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT FOR BRAD. WE ARE ALL STILL WAITING FOR THE JOLIE-PITT TWINS. IN TOUCH SAYS ANGIE HAVE GIVEN BIRTH, BUT YOU KNOW THIS MAGAZINE, THEY LIKE TO MAKE UP STORIES OR REPEATS. THEY ARE FULL OF KAKA DO.

  42. Terri says:

JustJared says that a Nice newspaper has reported that she had boy/girl twins - Knox & Vivienne. I won’t believe she’s had the twins until People confirms. I’m kind of hoping the Nice paper is right as I’d like to see a mini-Brad baby, but I know Angie & Brad will be overjoyed with whatever they have.

  43. ligaya says:

JJ has posted the alleged names of the twins allegedly revealed by Dr. Sussman. I highly doubt this.

An Australian tabloid reported the birth of a boy & a girl. Another is sticking with the 2 girls version. Others are now reporting that the hospital spokesperson has denied these rumors.

  44. jordan says:

Yahoo/AP is reporting boy and girl. Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline

  45. jordan says:

People is now also running the story.
