Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and the kids come home to New Orleans

by Sherry on November 30th, 2008

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie must be happy - this weekend the Jolie-Pitt family came home to New Orleans. Although they seem to enjoy Europe, they’ve frequently said that they love New Orleans more than any other home base. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they get to live a bit more of a normal life (such that it is) there. Yes, people still take their pictures, but you don’t seem to see throngs of cameras following them everywhere.

As a result, Brad was able to go for a motorcycle ride (see here and here). I love motorcycles anyway, but add Brad Pitt to the equation, and it’s even better!

Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie took Maddox Jolie-Pitt to Little Toy Shop in New Orleans to do some shopping. They made some purchases while they were there. I wonder if they’re Christmas presents from Maddox to his siblings or if they were just some “just because” toys - those are always fun to get!

I wonder if there will be any kind of special DVD launch for Wanted which comes out on Tuesday; I didn’t expect a big red carpet event for the Kung Fu Panda release but there she was, so you just never know!

In other news, Brad Pitt is supposed to be on the Today show on December 2nd as well. There had been some questions as to whether it was a live appearance or a previously taped segment but if they’re state-side, there’s a good chance it will be live.

More photos of Angelina Jolie and Maddox Jolie-Pitt toy shopping below the cut!

I know Maddox is seven now, but it’s still sometimes such a shock to see how big he’s getting! When did he grow so much?!

You know what I love about Angelina Jolie? (Well, okay ONE thing I love about her, among many!) She makes more money than I can even dream of, and yet she’s still wearing those nude flats, shoes I have seen her wear for ages. Not many high profile celebrities wear a pair of shoes to death but she does. I don’t know why, but I love that.

Enjoy!

I notice that she wears so many of her clothes over and over. She’s worn those shoes to death. (makes me wonder if she might have 10 pairs of the same) :)

They’re so much happier and freer in New Orleans. They have breathing room! It’s as if a big burden has been lifted. They’ll be gone when hubby and I visit, but we’ll drop by the toy shop for a souvenir.

Sherry, I had exactly the same thought when I saw these pics with Angie wearing her favourite nude flats. She is indeed very different (in many ways) from the rest of hollywood.

It is great to see them back in NOLA. Hope they enjoy their Christmas holiday and have a good break from their busy schedule. Do you remember the family bike ride last year? Was it also in NOLA during last year’s Christmas? They also seem so happy and comfortable whenever they are in NOLA.

Angie and Mad loko really wonderful together. Mad has grown to be a tall boy. It´s nice to see mother and son having some alone time together. So the Jolie-Pitt family has returned to the States. They certainly will stay in New Orleans for a longer period. Maybe until Christmas. maybe that bag included some toys for Christmas or maybe they were birthday presents for Pax. It was also great so to see some photos of papa Pitt riding his motor bike on the streets of NO. It´s his way of relaxation. But he still sure still loves to spend time with his beautiful family. Hopefully they enjoy this stay in NOLA and have some peace and quiet. They deserve it. Like Brad has said NO is the only place where they can have a little bit of normalcy in their lives. God bless the JPs!

Yes, it is great seeing them again but I am happy that they can be normal family witheout being photographed all the time. I think NO is great for them, but France and Germany as well! There were no photos taken in Germany! They really seem to enjoy there life! =)

O wow Sherry!! what a wonderful surprise today to find these gems awaiting online- beautiful. Maybe Angie has her special one-to-one time with darling Madd; see how she oversees his exit DOWN the step; a normal reaction for any good mother; she’s a natural. Kids have sudden growth spurts seemingly overnight at times (my doctor told me once the leg ‘pains’ my daughter complained of were ‘growing-pains’ !!!).
I think NO would be ‘up-to’ 20 degrees F warmer than south France currently, so the children must notice the difference - fascinating & educative for them. Here, in London UK it’s not far off ‘freezing’ and rainy and grey most days. These photos have brought the requisite sunshine into my life today tho.
    Thanks so much Sherry. Jx

Always nice to see the Jolie-Pitt’s. Angie looks amazing, Mad has grown, it looks like he has a money bag with him. They mentioned at Today Show that Ann Curry is on assignment in NO to interview Brad. I will watch Today Show tomorrow.
    God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

omg, she’is just too beautiful! as usual i LOVE her look! it’s too something i love about her; she often wears the same clothes, accessories, shoes, bag etc… but she’s not the only celebrity to do it (in fact, even Victoria beckham does it! lol).
    her dress is beautiful too!

i think they’ll spent christmas in nola or in the usa: the world is unfortunately very unsecure at this moment: thailande, bombay, congo, etc… maybe they’ll go in the tird world later.but maybe i’m wrong…

Angie looks happy and healthy. Her hair looks great and really healthy and shiny. Your hair tells a lot about your general health. Mad is growing. He is 8, right? Hope Angie and Brad will be at the special screening of CCOBB. Wonder who got the special invitations?

I agree about her down-to-earth-ness and wearing those shoes until the soles tear … but I’m willing to bet that she has at least two pairs of those shoes!

Randi has a 2 1/2 minute video at her site - mostly Angie and Mad shopping and walking around, a few seconds of Brad on his bike and going into his driveway. I think I saw Mickey and Billy (?) the skinnier guy with dark hair some Pittwatchers were crushing on.

The French Quarter is the oldest part of the city - the streets were made for carriages, not cars, so they’re narrow. Almost all the streets are one-way. It’s nice that there seems to be fewer paps and less pushy paps, so that the 3 bodyguards I see can keep them far away from Angelina and Maddox.

Brad Pitt Sits Down with Ann Curry, Talks New Orleans

Continuing along with his press run, Brad Pitt was spotted in the midst of an interview by “Today Show” co-achor Ann Curry on Monday afternoon (December 1).

The pair made their way around the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans, taking a break to sit down for the cameras in the midst of reconstruction efforts continuing after the devastation left behind by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

As for his Make It Right rebuilding effort, Pitt’s goal is to construct 150 new homes for residents - having completed six of those residences so far.

“We’ve cracked something here … these houses redefine affordable housing,” says Pitt. “This is a proving ground for a bigger idea that could work globally.”

Talking about how good it feels to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need, the “Fight Club” actor tells, “You have no idea what a high it is for me to see the delight on people’s faces when they see how these homes work. This project is not mine anymore. It’s so beyond me.”

(BTW, KFP snagged the most ani noms - 17, full story in “Wanted DVD’ thread)

I was just thinking the same thing about the shoes. But you know what they, when you find a winner, get two!

gena, Maddox is 7. Anyway, I doubt the J-Ps will spend Christmas in NOLA. Brad said on Oprah that they will be going to one of their children’s birth countries for Christmas, and Angie apparently said in one of her recent issues that they would be in Ethiopia in a few weeks’ time.

Very nice pictures…such a beau familiy. Angie always looks good. Love her nude shoes.

I really hope they go to Ethiopia for Christmas! It would be nice for ZeeZee to finally get to visit her birth country, plus they seem to get more privacy in Africa (Namibia wouldn’t even let the paps in while the J-Ps were there!).

Also, they spent Christmas in NOLA, so going by Brad’s comments on Oprah, I’m guessing they will indeed switch it up this year (he said they alternate between spending Christmas in NOLA or LA and spending it in one of the kids’ birth countries). I think they spent Christmas in Cambodia in 2006 (remember those photos of them in Cambodia that were published in PEOPLE magazine?).

Oh, and I could be wrong, but I think Ethiopia is one of the safe third world countries. :)
