Brad Pitt arrives in Venice with Maddox and Pax
Brad Pitt has arrived in Venice with Maddox and Pax at his side. Let the Venice Film Festival fun begin!
There was no sign of Angelina Jolie, and no sign of Shiloh, Zahara, Vivienne, or Knox. Obviously, this causes some disappointment since we’re all hoping for lots of photos of Brad and Angelina on the red carpet.
On the other hand, the festival hasn’t started yet. Tonight is the charity dinner for Not On Our Watch, which will be hosted by Brad Pitt and George Clooney. The Venice Film Festival starts tomorrow night with Burn After Reading premiering. It’s still possible that we might get to see Angelina Jolie tomorrow. She might have decided to stay with the babies tonight and then fly to Venice early tomorrow to make it for the red carpet entrance.
It’s obviously just as likely that she won’t show at all since she only gave birth recently, but let’s keep our fingers crossed for a Brangelina red carpet event!
More photos below the cut!

Crossing my fingers, too. Maybe this is Maddox’ and Pax’ special time with Daddy. I wonder if Mad and Pax will take all the press attention in stride. The kids weren’t on the KFP RC, so I suppose they won’t be at the BAR premiere either.

I am just happy to see Brad looking so good and having a bonding session with his older boys. It seems like a “boys” type of activity with Uncle George and Brad hitting the red carpet for the Fundraiser and the film. That is cool too.
I think they are there to keep Daddy company. Burn After Reading is rated R, so I doubt if they would be going to the movie.

I know I am talking of other subject but want to share…I cant imagine Cher as Catwoman???
I read that http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Movie-News/Cher-Play-Catwoman/800045669
I think Angie would be great being Catwoman….
Glad to see Pax and Maddox with Brad… THey need “boys” days sometimes…

Smart man, has the boys with him, so now the gossip magazines can’t say he walked out on his family to party in Venice. I also am hoping that Angie will be able to join him tomorrow. Does anyone know if she and the other children flew in but are at a hotel?

Snowy, I’m pretty sure there was a Catwoman casting thread, but we mainly talked about Angelina. Don’t remember if any other actresses were mentioned.

Mary Ann, very smart indeed ;) It seems like it’s boys time in Venice and girls time in France. Wonderful memories these kids are going to have. Besides the shared things they do together, as a family, each of them will have special his/hers special things to remember, things that they separately did with their parents. Sweet!
My guess is that Angie won’t show. And as much as I would like to see her, and believe me I do, I know and I’m glad that she’s taking this time for herself and the kids. It has been enough work this year and it will plenty more the next. A few months of isolation, rest and fun are well deserved. Especially that in the fall she will have to make an appearance to “The Changeling” premiere and to promote it. Angie, do not come, girl! Stay out of their cameras! :)) I’m sure that we wouldn’t have seen Brad either if it weren’t for his job obligations.
Regarding the news about Brad photografing Angie and the kids……this is so hot…so romantic…so typical for them. I can’t wait to see the look on Angie’s face (and I am particulary interested in that :P ). I bet it will be the best photoshoot ever.

This is a great, more detailed article about the fundraising dinner and Not On Our Watch’s mission. (Nice sized pics too.)

“Without that money, Luescher said, the World Food Program had been on the verge of shutting down the air service to Darfur, which brings 3,000 aid workers a month to the stricken region. The UN food charity fed 3.3 million people there last month alone.”

Always nice to see the older boys with their daddy, they are giving their daddy company. How cool is that. Still hopeful to see Angie tomorrow on the red carpet with Brad.
The boys are growing real fast & handsome too. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s always.

Snowy I saw that too about Cher.. I like her as an actress but the people on that post must have been smoking something. I think if Cher were chosen they would lose so many of the core fans of the franchise. She could not pull off the action required. I would love to see Cher do anther movie.. NOT CATWOMAN.
I saw more Pic of Brad and the boys on JustJared. I love seeing him with his kids. They are both so cute. I fear as well that Angie will not attend. But they do bring the kids with them.. Someones stays in the hotel..But as I think one it more.. By having the boys with him, I think Angie is out. I was so wanting to see her. It has been months.

Can’t WAIT to see the pictures in W. I thought the spread that came out when Brad and Angie first got together was very interesting. A friend of a friend was the assistant photographer on the shoot… she said the whole thing was very intense and that Brad and Angie were both incredibly, incredibly sexy people !
Brad looks fantastic, at ease, good, happy. Kids look great too. They all look like they are where they want to be, living the life they want to lead. Makes me so happy.

I really really really hope that AJ will be on the red carpet. But my brain say there’s more change that she will stay at home.

They are so cute! I always love how the Jolie-Pitt family is always together. Angelina is at home with the girls and Knox, and Brad gets the boys. They are the only celebrities that I see actually spending time with their kids. God bless the Jolie-Pitts.

It is nice to see these pictures. Couple of things I noticed. It appears that Brad and Pax have matching shirts on. The material and style appear to me to be the same. Question? In the first picture of Madd, Brad and Pax there is a woman behind Pax who is reaching out and touching him. Is this one of the nannies? Also, there is 35 pictures on JJ and and two or three have Madd in them. It appears that he likes to hide a little bit more. Well I am going to pray tonight that Angie will be with Brad on the RC. I miss seeing her also.

Mary Ann, maybe it’s just the camera angle that makes it look like the woman is touching Pax. Maybe it’s just a regular woman getting off the plane behind the JPs - she’s got a goofy grin as if she can’t believe she’s that close to them.

P.S. I love that all the reports I’ve read so far have dropped the “A” word when it comes to the kids.
804, this comes very, very, very, very late. Thanks for the link you posted at the “roseanne” thread for the terrific CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON tv spot. Just watched it, loved it.

I love how Brad and Angie let the kids be their own individuals. How cute is it that Maddox has green streaks? And it looks like Pax has white or silver in the front of his hair? Anybody else see those?

OT: Sonja, it’s obvious you care very deeply about a lot of different issues. Even though your post was in the “roseanne” thread a long, long time ago in cybertime, it has stayed with me. I couldn’t forget it, so I decided to answer to get it out of my head. :-) So the easy topic first: action movies.
Angelina has said many times that she does action movies to clear her head and emotions after doing very serious movies, e.g. A Mighty Heart and Beowulf/Wanted, or Girl, Interrupted and Gone in 60 Seconds. Angelina wanted to do something physical like Wanted because she was grieving her mother’s death, she had just finished A Mighty Heart, and she was due to film Changeling. She needed a release so that she didn’t stay in bed and pull the sheet over her head.
I know Europeans don’t watch only serious films because U.S. action movies and blockbusters do very well in Europe and the rest of the world. And there are a lot of great actors who act in these genre films: Sir Alec Guinness, Dame Helen Mirren, Dame Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Geoffrey Rush, Sir Ian McKellen, Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Edward Norton, Heath Ledger, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Robert Downey, Jr., Ewan McGregor, Tony Leung, Don Cheadle, Ejiofor Chiwetel, all the Ocean’s gang, and so on.
There’s no direct correlation between guns in movies and peace in real society. My husband pointed out that Japan has some of the most violent movies in the world, but there’s very little violent crime. He also said that Canadians have many guns but they don’t have the crime statistics that the U.S. does (anyone - please correct me if my husband is wrong).
One of the useful things about getting big paychecks in action movies is that it allows actors to act in passion projects for very little money, or buy rights to a book, produce a film, etc. And of course, the money is also used for humanitarian and philanthropic purposes.
In the U.S., and I’d guess the rest of the world, people like a variety of movies – not just a steady diet of serious movies. There’s nothing inherently wrong with action movies. Some European and other world cinema are shown here, but unfortunately fewer and fewer people like to read subtitles. And I don’t know if it’s the American character or just bad times (war, tanked economy, foreclosures, bank failures, high unemployment, etc.), but the mood is more escapist than introspective. It’s called denial. A slew of Iraq/terror-themed features and documentaries (including A Mighty Heart) failed at the box office the last couple of years.

Ligaya, thanks your the above post responding to Sonja. I can’t agree more! I love both serious sentimental movies and action movies alike. Most of the time, action movies make me feel more energetic but serious ones (like Babel, A Mighty Heart…) make me feel sad for a long time. So I think watching both will help you feel balanced. This is also true for actors. Making only serious movies will definitely make them feel depressed and off balanced, like Angie once explained why she had to do Wanted in between The Changeling and A Mighty Heart.

mary ann: i think maddox is a “peacer” boy, he is discret, it’s often the same thing, he is there but live his life and don’t care about the papz. pax is really a little top model, look at the way he makes a “hello” with his hand, so cute. (zahara is too a little actress… i just think mad is somebody really quiet).
the boys are too cute! it’s nice to see them again!
cher as catwoman, it’s a joke? or it’s grand-ma catwoman lol!

Thanks for these Sherry…I like that the JPs despite there being stories about them everyday, can just kinda disappear for long periods of time despite the paps camping at their home, have missed them though.
And Ligaya, as always top of your game girl.

Deana I saw the streaks also on Madd and Pax. And if you look real close at some of the pictures of Brad at the charity dinner and the red carpet it appears that he has streaks also. Maybe the kids did his hair. I love the way he looks, he appears to be so happy and content.

Ligaya I am sure you are right about that women. And boy I sure would have a goofy grin if I was that close. Now Ligaya, you have to play your cards right up in Toronto. Maybe you could brag about being Ryan’s Mom. All kidding aside I hope Ryan’s movie does real well. And thanks for all your insight on show business.
