Brad Pitt can work a red carpet

Angelina Jolie may have gotten mixed reviews for her beige dress, especially compared to last week’s green dazzler, but here’s something undeniable - although he’s uber-casual at home, Brad Pitt sure can work a red carpet. I still LOVE the tux and I really like the sparkly square buttons.
Truly, it doesn’t much matter what dress Angelina wears on the red carpet. If she’s got Brad Pitt on her arm, she’s already got the best accessory anyway.
Also, buzz on the street is that Brad wasn’t just another pretty face on the Cannes carpet - apparently while he was in town he was working on some details for his film Tree of Life. The man is a multi-tasker!
Some people have said that Brad seemed to be smiling less this year at Cannes. While I did see many smiling photos, there are so many possible reasons. He could have been thinking about Tree of Life, he might have just been tired, maybe he wasn’t too thrilled that the world found out for sure that they’re having twins, perhaps he was stressed about the shopping mob the day before, who knows? However, one thing I’ve often noticed is that either Brad or Angelina will be very animated on the red carpet for their own premiere because they’re essentially working, whereas the other will hang back a bit to keep the focus on the right celebrity. It’s not the first time I’ve seen a subdued Brad, but when he takes his turn on the red carpet for his upcoming films, I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty of the goofy Brad we know and love!

Sherry, I agree also. I think he just keeps a low profile when it is Angie’s movie. I remember a few years ago Marc Anthony was in a movie with Denzel Washington. Can’t remember the name of the movie, but Marc and J Lo had just hooked up and even though she was not on Marc’s arm she created such a stir that it made Denzel make a comment. So I believe that Brad and Angie have so much respect for each other that they are very careful not to over shadow each other. I have seen alot of comments the last few days calling them a “power couple”, and that is what I feel they are. Life for them and their children is always going to be shear craziness. But I believe that they will rise above it.
Also Sherry, thank you so much for your hard work in keeping us informed.

I belive Brad Pitt is only 44 or 45, yet I have seen several sites that are calling him old! I am 64,that’s old. As you say Sherry, the dress was a flop but she is beautiful and so is Brad.

One of the things I enjoy most about Brad is his sense of style. He can go from looking like a bum one day with ripped jeans and ratty t-shirts to being absolutely impecable. He likes his comfort in his everyday life, but knows how to dress when he has to. I think he is more of a clothes horse on the red carpet than he is given credit for. He has never looked bad at any of his formal occasions (well maybe not so great at the Independent Spirit Awards, but not bad) and he was gorgeous last year at Cannes and for all of his Jesse James and Mighty Heart premiers.
He is not given much credit for dressing well because when you stand next to Ms. Jolie, you kind of get lost. But I think he is an extraordinarily handsome man and knows what looks good on his body and I love to see what he is wearing. His shoes for the Kung Fu Panda premier were amazing and had people looking up what they were.
Me, I love to see him on the red carpet just as much as seeing her, but he also knows not to outshine her as that could be real trouble.
Thanks for this site.

For me, Angelina could never outshine Brad. He’s the first and only one I look at!
Maybe he’s subdued because the man has 4 soon-to-be 6 kids! I mean, that’s an insane amount of children to be having in what? just 3 years! But they’ve got money to hire all the help in the world which helps buy them time and maybe even some sanity. Brad surely has aged in the last 3 years. We can blame Angelina for that, haha!

I love this couple and in no way will ever be negative, I just think they are human and all humans have a day off once in a while. They are just so humble and down to earth. I agree that they let the one with the movie, on the carpet shine. When they are discussing something serious like when jolie was in Iraq and brad was being interviewed by larry king, that is when they will not discuss personal stuff. Other wise they are pretty open. They love and respect and trust one another.
GOD BLESS THEM AND THEIR FAMILY

I agree with you Sherry. It’s just like when they were on the Beowulf red carpet and someone tried to ask Brad a question and he was like “I’m off duty, sorry”. He’s just there to support Ange and that’s what he did..also, i think it does piss him off that there’s a camera shoved under his nose every where he goes. But what normal person wouldn’t?

It pisses me off about the constant cameras, especially when it involves the kids. Like the other day with Shiloh. You can just see Brad tense up. There are some crazies out there.
It really isolates them from the rest of the world. Just them and their immediate family. Everything they do is watched. kinda makes me feel bad ..
but … i’m addicted!!! I love this family and I think a lot of other people do to. It is cool to adopt from Africa now.
sorry, I got carried away

I agree too about their tactic of having the one with the movie take the prominent role on the RC. I also agree that Brad can work the RC, and he rocks whatever he’s wearing - especially suits & tuxes. Yum!
Not only was Brad working for TOL distribution deals, the big news (my detailed post is under mod, I forgot which thread) is that he made a deal with thee 6th richest man in the world for $1 billion dollars in development funds. Five others are in the deal - Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Nicholas Cage, and others.

A lot of critics have already said the O-word (Oscars) for Angelina, Clint & the picture – just like AMH last year. Clint has more pull & Universal has more money to mount an Oscar campaign, so hopefully we’ll see nominations.

Clint Eastwood’s Changeling has drawn some of the strongest early reviews yet at the Cannes Film Festival…Geoffrey MacNab in the London Independent called the film a “magisterial piece of work.”…Writing for the British trade publication Screen Daily, Mike Goodridge predicted that the movie will “go all the way from the Palais to the Academy Awards.” Several critics attending the screening came away forecasting an Oscar nomination not only for Eastwood but also for the film’s star, Angelina Jolie. “She is the entire, anxious point of Eastwood’s film,” wrote James Christopher in the London Times, “and absolutely terrific.” Todd McCarthy in Daily Variety called her performance “top notch.” And Kurt Honeycutt wrote in the Hollywood Reporter,”Jolie puts on a powerful emotional display.”

What a great picture of Brad. I thought Brad was fine on the RC. I loved how Brad held the umbrella for Angelina. It was Angelina’s movies coming out so she should be in the spotlight.

I agree Lac.
He was fine, it was Angie’s night.
This tact is not NEW, he did with Gwyneth and even with Jennifer.
There’s a video of Gwyn’s premiere and him telling reporters who were calling for him that it was “her movie”.
@Sherry!
Thanks for the explanation, but am sure you are aware it fell on deaf ears.
Ligaya it’s great about the reviews.

BAMPZ fan:
I know it’s really crazy, but it’s like I too have developed an addiction with this family. I carefully check for every new photograph that comes out of them. If at some point I find that I am looking at a picture that was taken some time ago and that I did not see at the time, I’m like “how could that have happened ! I missed that ! I thought I had seen everything !”
What makes this even crazier is that I NEVER used to follow celebrity stuff before, I found them all pretty boring, Paris Hilton and the like.
But with this family I am stuck on EVERY move.
Yes - Angelina is a trail blazer. And one of the biggest favors she did the world is make adopting kids from everywhere and anywhere not an option of last resort, or something only a Mother Theresa would even consider, but super cool, beautiful and edgy.

Thank you, Kari. Angie is such a good role model for adoption. Kristin Davis (hope I got the name right) of Sex & the City recently said she was inspired by Angelina to adopt a child.

I thought it was the extra “ing” added to my name that caused moderation, but apparently not.
Anyway, I was thanking Kari for her post.
