Pittwatch.com: Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Gossip

Brad Pitt for Green Design

by Christina on March 29th, 2006

We all know about Brad’s interest in architecture and design - this is going to be the focus of a PBS show, Design: e2, coming up in June, and hosted by - guess who? - Brad Pitt. From Treehugger.com:

Indeed, the talented and (forgive me if you don’t share my enthusiasm) totally hot actor will be narrating “Design: e2,” a series about “the economies of being environmentally conscious.” Set to air in June, the program “explores the most complex issues facing our environment. From green architecture to water culture to organic farming to recycled clothes.

Don’t miss the trailer and web site for Design: e2!

Brad Pitt to narrate design e2 for PBS!

Thanks, Anna, for sending me the tip, and Treehugger for the gorgeous pic!

Does it seem to anyone else that Brad’s confidence has grown where his philanthropy is concerned? Since he’s known Angelina, it’s like he’s really amped up his support for different causes he believes in, and I just don’t think he ever had the support to do those things before.

Just in the last 2-3yrs he’s executive produced film God Grew Tired of Us won 2 top award at Sundance. This is his second year with the ONE campaign. Working on his second PBS project, and who knows what else he’s been doing.

He and Angelina each have area’s where their humanitarian energies are most expressed, yet somehow in the end find a commonality which is “helping others.”

I think it’s wonderful they’ve found in each other a supportive partner they can also share this area of their lives with.

So great to see celebrity thinking of others and of the future of our dear Planet Earth. The soul mates Brad and Angelina only speak to a higher power we all possess and need to reach for in our lives - so we can leave a better world to our children.

It’s quite amazing that Brad & Angelina are so clear in their goals and use the spotlight that is usually so superficial to bring real essense; compassion, helping others, doing everything we can possibly to do make this world a better place. Long live wholeness!!!

I agree wholeheartedly with both Bamz and anamanzana. It encourages me to see people use their fame to further causes that are vitally important. Not to add a discouraging word to this fabulous section of the site, but I do hope Brad quits smoking again before he publicly speaks about environmental issues. Smoking is so damaging to the environment. But I applaud him from the depths for doing this and all the other things he is doing for the betterment of our world. And as always, I have to keep saying that B and A help the environment just by showing us their beautiful selves.

I’m really looking forward to seeing this. I saw the series he did on PBS a few months ago on the issue of world disease. The shows were so riveting that I would forget that Brad was doing the narrating. I thought he came across as someone who was honestly informed and genuinely concerned. Does anyone remember the show he did with the grizzly bears a few years back? I thought that even back then he showed a real concern for the natural world. Of course Jen had to go and do her bit with the bears too on her own show but I thought (and this is just MY opinion) that she didn’t look as much at ease out in nature as Brad did…sort of like city girl Rachel goes to visit the bears. But that’s just me. Anyway, it was such a treat to find a positive story on Brad on one of my fave eco sites.

JLS, it’s so funny speaking of smoking. I was raised in a two vegetarian homes (kid of divorce) from the time I was 13-14, and then for awhile as an adult I was a vegan (no animal anything, not even honey….bee’s) but I smoked!

I felt so stupid telling people how meat was so bad for them yada yada, yet here I was still puffing a pack a day, and trying to justify my contradictions. One day I just said enough is enough, I refuse to be a hyppcrite any longer…..so I went to Kentucky Fried Chicken.

At that time the smoking habit was so strong that I rather eat meat than give up cigarettes. I finally quit them, and I’ve been a non smoker for 5 yrs now, and although I don’t adhere to a veggie diet any longer, I do still have no problem eating tofu one day, and bacon the next.

Point is with Brad, I understand the lure. He may have gotten to where he hates smoking, but that doesn’t matter, it’s such a part of him that environment issues or not, until he chooses to be done with them, he’s gonna be puffing. Maybe the PBS project WILL be an eye opener…we can hope/pray it is.

Wow, Bamz. . .you went through a lot. I’ve heard quitting smoking is harder than quitting heroin. I know he’s under a lot of pressure and he’s in France surrounded by hundreds of smokers. Really, I guess I don’t think it’s that big of a thing for the PBS series because what he is doing is so signficant. I’ve also seen the other shows Anna mentioned that Brad has done and I could feel his genuine concern–he isn’t just doing these things for publicity. I hope too that the smoking will just take care of itself when he is able to do it. It will be so much better for the kids.

You all have wonderful posts. I just want to add my small contibution about smoking. I was a non-smoker until a couple of years ago. I would give lectures to my friends sayng how bad it was, blah, blah, blah. Until something happened in my life and I couldn´t deal with the pressure going to the point where I began self-destruction. Then I started smoking as a mean of dealing with the pressure. Thank God I haven´t turned to worse habits. I´m now a smoker because in all honesty, and I think you all will understand my friends, it does help me. As silly as it sounds, it helps me dealing with the pressure, the stress and even sometimes with loneliness. I don´t smoke much a day and sometimes I even manage to go through entire days without puffing on a ciggy. I have my rules: don´t smoke inside the home, i live with non-smokers, so it´s the least I can do for them. I hardly smoke in cafes, unless I can see I´m not disturbing the other people there. I dont smoke in restaurants although in my country it´s allowed to do so.

JLS - about quitting smoking being harder than quitting smoking, I don´t think so. Personally, I believe it can´t be even compared. Unfortunatelly I have someone in the family who dwells on that habit. Let me say that it´s not only the person who has the habit that suffers. It breakes an entire family apart. It´s a living wound, that will never be healed. Forgive me being so forward but I think you´ll understand my words. I think that ony someone who has the misfortune to endure this awful addiction.

BTW JLS - Thank you so much for your lovely email. I will get back to you later, OK? I promise. I´m just having some errands to do and I haven´t yet the time to answer you. :)

just a smll correction on my post above:

“JLS - about quitting smoking being harder than quitting smoking” what I meant was:

“JLS - about quitting smoking being harder than quitting heroin”

    Forgive me the mistake. :)

Thanks for your post, Diana. I know so little about drug problems and your comments were helpful. I’ve made several comments about the smoking issue and I want to make it clear that I don’t look down on anyone who smokes. We all have things that “help us” make it in this life and I actually have no issue with it at all. As I’ve said somewhere else, I just know A. doesn’t want him to do it and I don’t want it to be a big issue with them. In case you guys haven’t noticed—-I want these two to make it, to stay together and to keep doing the great things they do together. I was so happy for Brad when he found someone who seemed to have so much more going on in her head than is evidenced by most of Tinseltown and also someone who made him happy. Not to mention someone as beautiful as he deserves.

Diana, I’m not going to lie. There are times when I wouldn’t love anything more than a serious double espresso, a couple of Gitane’s and a perfect dawn sitting on the rocks in Maine let alone one or two with a Stoli martini.

Until I quit, I had no idea how much, or how many things were being affected by my addiction, and I know I won’t ever return to it, but I’d be such a lier to say that I don’t sometimes miss it during stress, and in the midst of pleasure, let alone after lol.
