Brad Pitt in Inglourious Basterds – First photo!

October 17, 2008 by Sherry

The first photo of Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine in Inglourious Basterds has been released. I have no idea why they changed the name to “Basterds”, and don’t even know when it changed, but there it is.

And who cares? All I care about is the fact that Brad looks hot.

The Quentin Tarantino website said:

“Let me introduce you to the principal Basterd, the head honcho Basterd, most Inglourious of all Basterds, Lt. Aldo Raine. We’ve got a first look at Brad Pitt in full resistance fighter gear for you… This is a hillbilly straight from the mountains of Tennessee, a man with a scar around his neck that “will never once be mentioned,” this is Brad Pitt in one hundred percent Quentin Tarantino Nazi-scalping business.”

Well okay then!

(Edit: I fixed the spelling of the movie title. I’m Canadian so I should know to put the extra “u” into words but I’m so used to spelling in the American manner that I spelled Inglourious Basterds incorrectly at first. Thanks so much to the charming soul who alerted me by calling me an idiot, it’s all fixed now.)

Below the cut are some other photos of part of the set from above.

This was probably in the comments somewhere, but the New York Times has a great interview. It’s a few days old already, but I just saw it today and thought I would pass it on.

I love when he doesn’t have a hat on. This is going to be an interesting film.

    He is beautiful!

Liza thanks for the hint about the NY Times article. What a great write up. I love this woman more and more each day. I like when she said: “but our family is the greatest thing we have done in our lives.” And then later in the article she said she couldn’t wait to show the kids the Mr and Mrs Smith movie. She said: “not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love.”

  5. Ligaya says:

Thanks for the link, LiZa. It’s one of the best profiles of Angelina I’ve read. My favorite part is: “Even video games, you know, it’s: ‘Mom, you can’t play this. You won’t know how.’ Oh, they all think I can’t do anything, that I’m just there to snuggle with. But the other day Madd said, ‘Can you do a cartwheel?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I can.’ And he was like, ‘Wow, Mom.’ And I thought: ‘Oh, yeah. I can do some things. You wait. You’ll find out. I’m capable.’

Heh, reminds me of Eliza Doolittle singing, “Just you wait, ‘enry ‘iggins, just you wait!” Too cute. ;-)

  6. Ligaya says:

Mary Ann, I like that last part too – tres romantic. I read on jezebel that there’s fullscale warfare between Team Jolie and Team Aniston on ONYD. TA sees Angelina’s statement as a full confession that she cheated with Brad. TJ says Angelina’s saying that she and Brad met and fell in love on MMS – not get physical involved.

Thanks, Sherry. I repeat – ROWRRR! If I ever meet Aldo Raine in the forest, I’m going to pull him down to the ground.

Gorgeous photo of Brad Pitt. A great article about him on ABC news here http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=6033866&page=1. A good read on MR. PITT.

  13. BlessBrangelina says:

Yum Yum! No wonder Angie is pregnant all the time, she can’t keep her hands off him!

  14. BlessBrangelina says:

    Thanks Mary!

  15. Jhoey27 says:

There was a comment by Angie pertaining to the day when her kids are able to watch Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the movie where their mom and dad fell in love, that I’m positive that would cause a bombshell of a gossip, where people are going to insinuate that indeed, Angie and Brad cheated on you know who. They don’t understand that what she meant was, that movie was where it all started, not necessarily in that movie, cause she did state that they became real good friends during and after the movie and eventually fell in love and consumated that love after Brad got legally divorced.

  16. angela says:

Blessbrangelina, if i was angie i wouldn’t take my hands off him too. :P
oh my, brad is hot, hot, hot!

  17. rubi says:

BRAD looks so gooooooood!!!!! hot!!!! love tarantino’s work, now i cant wait to see this film.

  18. Rach says:

Wow. He looks beautiful as usual! You can’t get a more suited pair than Angelina and Brad. Equal in beauty, inside and out.

  19. LizA says:

You’re welcome everyone, I loved the bit about the video games too. She has said before how the kids think their parents are just so dorky so I love hearing about this.

He looks great, but he also is emoting total “redneck” in his pose. And I can just imagine what Tarantino will do with it, heh heh heh. Him and Angie are both beautiful, but she can rest assured they both are still doing their jobs well.

  20. Chrissy says:

Oh my God, he is just sooo gorgeous…..

  21. irma says:

They are equally beautiful in & out. They have this magic with people which I can’t explain.God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

  22. niemiec idiota says:

the daily mirror has today printed this quote from the new york times article =’good, because i’m not always very nice’. this is totally wrong. angelina actually said ‘because i’m SURE IT’S not always very nice’. the daily mirror make it seem angelina has said sometimes SHE IS NOT VERY NICE, when she actually meant people’s perceptions of her are NOT ALWAYS VERY NICE. sara wallis is the name of the ’showbiz reporter’ who wrote the article for http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/latest/2008/10/18/angelina-jolie-admits-she-and-brad-pitt-fell-in-love-during-his-marriage-115875-20815602/. see for yourself how bad the quote makes angelina look and how wrong it is.

  23. niemiec idiota says:

this mirror article was so inaccurate i have sent the mirror a e-mail to try and get the article changed so it is what angelina actually said, not what the twisted tabliod media want angelina to have said. normally i would let trashy reports like us weekly, msnnbc and others get away with their spin and lies, but this article is so wrong it really got me angry beacause it shows how they bully and make angelina into the bad guy and a nasty, uncaring person, all from one sentance : ‘not many kids get to see the parents fall in love’. angelina may of secretly been in love with brad and/or had strong feelings for him, but she might not of actually told him about it and vice versa for brad about angelina. not until early 2005 anyway. As the gossip arena is so dry, the media is targeting angelina, picking on every single word of every single interview, article she is doing ,to try and catch her out. ‘gotcha’ media if you will. if you want to let the daily mirror get away with that on-line article then fine, but if you were as annoyed as me by it u could e-mail the daily mirror to complain about it at mailbox@mirror.co.uk , otherwise it will stay as it is and cause angelina more harm already, it is shocking how bad that quote is reported. sorry rant over! (in a funny way it makes me like angelina even more, as i can see what the media do to her and know angelina is the person in the right)

  24. L COLBY CHANDLER says:

Back from vacay and i come back to angie’s gorgeous hunk of a man, she’s so lucky to wake up to her man everyday, brad gets better with age and the love of a good woman.

  25. keats says:

I look at this picture and I remember how unhappy he seemed. Brad has never been very verbal about his relashionships unlike Angelina. I admire both of these qualities as they are part of their upbringing. I just saw the W pictures and Brad spoke volumes. He spoke through the lens of a camera of just how he feels about the mother of his children, his lover and partner, the funny little girl and the lady when she says “enough”. This man sees Angelina as Botticelli saw his Venus. The pictures are breathtaking that only an artist with the most passionate eyes could of taken them. Brad capture the love he has for Angelina and the children. Most of the pictures are of Angie and that shold put to rest all the nagative rumors out there. IMO the children are photograph enough and he wanted to show how he sees the most important person in his life because, without Angie the children would not be there. Brad and Angie are not going anywhere without each other.

  26. gena says:

He is so handsome, that is a beautiful shot of him. Thanks for the good article written on Brad. Now if only they would write some good accurate ones on Angie.

  27. sarahc says:

If good positive articles were written on both the Jolie-Pitt’s they would not be able to sell their trash to the public. My thoughts.

  29. neer says:

No matter how many stones that the haters will throw at Angie, whether big or small stones, she remains unaffected as she makes herself busy with what is important: FAMILY, HUMANITARIAN WORK, CAREER. In fact, for each stone, it becomes somewhat her weapon and making her stronger everyday to do what she has to do. It challenges her even more to always have a sense of purpose and be useful to what matters most.

She puts her energy to what is relevant instead of minding the negative things that are said about her. She surrounds herself with POSITIVE PEOPLE. People who support or help her on the causes she’s passionate about. Her family who inspires & love her dearly. Her directors, co-actors & crews who respect her. Her supporters & fans who admire her work & believe her advocacy.

As what she said before, she knows the DIFFERENCE OF WHAT IS IMPORTANT & URGENT FROM WHAT IS SUPERFICIAL & TRIVIAL. So, with this in mind, we are assured that Angie will always come out all right as she knows her priorities in life & finds strength from proper sources. That we believe positive people & things outweigh the negative ones.

still can’t get over how hot he looks here..phewee!

    She’s Actually Smart
    by Nancy Collins

Angelina wows a crowd of human rights bigwigs with a kick-ass speech on war crimes, child soldiers and global justice.

“Angelina’s full of surprises,” said legendary profiler Lillian Ross, who was shadowing the actress for a New Yorker piece last Friday afternoon at the Council on Foreign Relations.

“She doesn’t miss a thing. She’s one of a kind, not only with the six kids—she’s a real working mom—but her intelligence, understanding, humor. And, of course, there’s the beauty. Clint Eastwood says when you look at her up close you realize she has the most beautiful face on earth.”

Jennifer Aniston really didn’t stand a chance. Neither did most who heard Jolie deliver the introductory remarks for a panel on Darfur at an elegant international law and justice symposium sponsored by the Jolie-Pitt Foundation. She spoke alongside Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the Prosecutor for the International Criminal Court, and New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof. It was the final presentation of a decidedly high-wonk day.

It began at noon with the activist actress hobnobbing with General Wesley Clark, Nick Rostow, legal advisor to the political elite, and Greg Craig, the defense attorney who represented would-be Reagan assassin John Hinkley. By the time Council President Richard Haass welcomed everyone, the actress, dressed for diplomatic success in black boots, skirt and blazer, was first row, front and center.
When a brand-name Hollywood personality attends such an event, it’s tempting (and often accurate) to dismiss their presence as good PR, a little star power to make the affair palatable to the popular media. Often at these sorts of things, the starlet delivers a few minutes of talking points while affecting a glamorous-yet-earnest pose. Folks were wondering if Jolie’s speech would show a well-intentioned woman well out of her league.

Over the course of five hours, as the attendees digested such light fare as “International Obligations Toward Victims of Mass Atrocities,”

Jolie scribbled notes on a legal pad. When her turn came to speak, the room hushed and craned its collective neck. Human rights advocates, NGO staffers and Council members—people who live and breathe this subject matter—shifted in their seats to watch the celebrity approach the podium.

Once there, Jolie began by citing the “remarkable education” of her seven years as Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations, and her visits to 25 refugee camps. She then proceeded to eloquently make her case that too often, “peace is placed before justice, often times instead of it. I believe there’s no enduring peace without justice.”

Justice, as she put it, should not be “a luxury for only rich and wealthy nations. In far too many places I’ve been, I’ve seen refugees returned to live among the same people who attacked them,” the same people who remain in power by “threatening more violence if we attempt to bring them to justice. We let those who destroyed their country decide the future for it.

continued: “When crimes against humanity are punished consistently, the killers’ calculus will change. If they walk away, it sends a message that they need not worry. We need to arrest those indicted. Trials can change behavior.”

And finally, “After seven years in the field I have a lot to learn, but I do know that no mother who had her children killed in front of her, no young girl sold into slavery, no boy kidnapped and forced to be a child soldier, no young girl, like the three year old I saw with her limbs cut off, should be expected to forget. No one should have to choose between peace and justice.”

When the panel concluded, the actress, who was giving no interviews, was instantly surrounded by people who, in the name of world peace, had summoned up the courage to approach her for an autograph—not for themselves, you see, for their grandchildren. “Of course, I understand,” she replied, ever graciously, as the long fingers of her left hand scrawled her name across the programs. “I have kids, too.” Indeed. The most famous on the planet.

As Jolie left, Ted Sorenson, whom as JFK’s speechwriter spent a lot of time with the most famous brunette of that era, summed up his impression of the actress.
“Frankly, I came a skeptic,” he said, “but am leaving impressed.”

  32. Ligaya says:

I’m pleading with all Jolie-Pitt fans to attend the 1st weekend in your city, even if you usually don’t go to the theater at all. The industry and viewers in general gauge a movie’s (and by extension, its stars’) success by the 1st weekend grosses. Gone are the days when a movie could stay for months or even over a year in the theaters – now movies are gone in a week if they don’t perform up to expectations.

Success breeds success and good B.O. numbers & word-of-mouth make people more interested in going.

I think it was Cee who asked what we fans could do besides not buy the tabs. We can go to see Angie’s movies – one of the best ways to make the h8ters shut up temporarily is quote her per movie grosses and her lifetime gross. Those are numbers they can’t refute. They prove Angelina’s popularity and clout. Angelina’s lifetime grosses = (24 films) $1,191,365,852. That’s $1.2 BILLION. (All figures from boxofficemojo.)

Oscar analysts said a better AMH B.O. could have been the tipping point for Angie’s Oscar nomination. The Academy likes arty stuff – but with financial success.

    ***CORRECTION*** & REMINDER -

    CHANGELING ALERT:

HBO will have “First Look: Changeling” TOMORROW, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2008.
    HBO-W 7:15 pm PT
    HBO-E 4:15 pm PT.

On my Dish satellite HBO’s various channels start at 300.

“First Look” usually airs several times on HBO’s different channels. It’s a 15 minute behind the scenes look on set on the shoot, new & different mini-interviews with Clintalina.

  34. Ligaya says:

I posted excerpts from new interview with critic Peter Travers (I think with Rolling Stone) for ABC News on the “Today Show” thread – includes how she protects the kids from tabloid stuff.

  35. Kati says:

I think that this new photo of Brad is absolutely wonderful. He looks really handsome. I normally don´t like QT´s movies because they´re very violent. But this movie sure is different.
