Brad Pitt in New Orleans

by Sherry on December 2nd, 2007

Brad Pitt in New Orleans

According to the NOLA blog, Brad Pitt is visiting New Orleans; on Monday at 11 am, Brad will launch his “Make It Right” project. The campaign aims to create over a hundred homes which will be affordable, sustainable, and ecological. At the moment, pink house-shaped pieces stand in the area where the real homes will soon stand.

Back in early November, Brad pledged $5 million and urged other to do the same.

Angelina Jolie in New Orleans

The article talks about a personal view from Ivory Porter Webb who spoke with Angelina Jolie who is in New Orleans with Brad. Webb told Angelina “again and again how appreciative she was for her and her husband’s continued interest in New Orleans”. Angelina invited her to a party that will be held on Monday night then met up with Brad.

They must be so happy, I know they make everywhere they go their home as much as possible but they’ve often said how much they love being at their home in New Orleans, so I bet they’re thrilled to be back.

Be sure to read the whole thing.

Meanwhile, don’t forget to watch Larry King Live on CNN on December 5th - Brad will be chatting with Larry King about the “Make It Right” project and why New Orleans and its residents is so important to him. You can also hit the Larry King website to email questions. I would urge you to please consider the types of questions Brad prefers to answer because those are the ones more likely to be read on the air and actually answered (and if you can get them to throw in reference to being a PittWatch reader, we’ll all know it was your question!).

Oh WOW, Angelina looks so beautiful. Angie and Brad both have the look of people who have a deep sense of empathy for the world. I know this is obvious, but I think that in these two casual, cell-phone? photographs, it really shows up even more.

What a good morning to start my day. I just watched The Today Show this morning & Brad Pitt was interviewed by Ann Curry, He even looks like he just woke up, it was live so he got up early to be on this site in NOLA. He is really into this project & asking some more people in the States to donate to help the Katrina victims. He is wearing his ring & his newsboy cap. I admire him & Angie for the unselfish endeavor & projects to help others. What a great pair. Brad mentioned that the most important thing for him is his family, he really loves his family, he is really a good family man.

By the way, the houses that they are going to build in NOLA are all very beautiful, the architects designed the houses with safety first because of the possibility of flooding the area again.
I was watching the Today Show with my husband while eating breakfast & he said Brad Pitt can run in politics, he also admire Brad.God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

Gradually, people will be accepting them as strong family oriented couple and all they want is to be accepted and respected who they are. No matter how the tabloids lies about them, they seems just ignore it and go on. They know who they are what is their purpose in life. So many who follow their work and know them closely and believe in them with respect and admiration are more than who doesn’t.

Because of Brad & Angie people make noticed of the things mostly were ignored before, have you noticed lately, a lot of people of HW are following the footsteps of Brad & Angie supporting charities or doing charity works, even Hayden P. of Heroes ( I like her too). Brad & Angie you are the most admired & loved couple of HW. May God continue to bless you & your family. Got to go to work now. Thanks Sherry for the updates.

Thanks Diane & Sherry for posting the article and link (with the great photos). Thanks also, Sophia - I read that article last night and it was full of stuff I’d never read before.

My husband, Mom & I visited New Orleans for a couple of weeks in October (inspired by Angie, Brad’s & Wynton Marsalis’ urging). I wanted to visit Brad’s Globan Green project but didn’t have time. (We did see the Habitat for Humanity/MusiCares’ new musicians’ village.) We took a 4 hour Katrina tour throughout N.O., and our friends in Biloxi gave us a tour of their area.

We’ve all seen the photos & videos & read reports. Still, there’s nothing like being there in person seeing blocks & blocks & miles of destruction. Every person we talked with - cabdrivers, housekeepers, shop & restaurant owners - had a moving story. Our Biloxi friends in their 80s clung with their 3 adult children & a pet dog for 9 hours while their house was destroyed.

I liked reading the article’s comments. Immediately after Katrina, everyone felt for its victims. After 2 years, people have compassion fatigue or outright intolerance after being ground down by the recovery process. i don’t think it was stressed enough that it would take 10 or 12 years to complete the recovery.

Now, some folks don’t appreciate Brad’s efforts, calling it useless (tell that to the families who’ll live there) or complaining because they think all the money/help/attention is going to the Lower 9th Ward instead of their own area. I was in the Lower 9th Ward - it definitely needs any help it can get.

I’m happy and ecstatic. No school! Plus I got to watch Brad Pitt on the Today show! Yay.

He did good in the interview. And the houses looked really kooL.

    @Tenika

From the interview on the today Brad said the families get to pick the design of the house out of the many designs they have designed by world famous architectures.

So good to see such a great actor, matured and caring, matched to another great actress of similar interest and life goals. Wish there are more like that…giving money to charity is one thing, taking underprivileged kids into your own home to cherish them as your own kids, and also devoting personal time to babysit such projects moving to fruition is most admirable.

Thanks, Mary Ann (curtseying). There are lots of us here who are great writers. The more of us email Q to Larry, the better chance we get of getting picked.

I’m going to think of my question, maybe I’ll even ask a couple. One I’m playing with is: Brad, you said there will always be earthquakes (fires & droughts too) in San Francisco (& L.A.). Other places have tornadoes. All the coastal cities will be flooded from global warming.

Why do you think people ask about rebuilding New Orleans. They don’t ask that of Miami, they didn’t ask that after any of the earthquakes & fires in San Francisco & L.A. Is it because, as Mayor Nagin termed it, New Orleans is a “chocolate city?”

Just went thru the 40 pictures and so happy to see them, it has been a while for all of us. I was amazed with a couple of things. Not once did I see the bodyguards around them and the other great thing was no one was really paying attention to Angelina. It was so nice for her be treated like a “normal person” with no crowds shoving and pushing to get to her. Now I really believe that they could be happy there and not have to hide all the time. Madd’s face has changed alot. More mature looking. Wish we could see the other children.

Hello Sherry and same goes to all the wonderful JP fans!
Thank you Sophie for the link to the Backstage interview. It is, as usual, a great one. I think Angie is one of a handful of HW stars who give interesting interviews - she is articulate, honest and endlessly fascinating!
Ligaya, I agree with Maryanne that you should email a question to Brad. The one you are playing with (re: Mayor Nagin’s comment) is a good one. Personally, I think Mayor Nagin may have a point there, but it would be interesting to know how Brad would answer it (if it gets picked up).
As for Janine’s link about the island in Dubai, Brad’s publicist has already issued a denial. I was in Dubai on a business trip last February and I saw “The World” from the Skyview Cafe of the Burj-al-Arab (7-star hotel). At that time, there were reports in the local paper that Rod Stewart bought the “England” and David Beckham the “Spain” islands (at $25M+ each). Then there was a question ” Who would want to buy Africa, Brangelina?”. Maybe that’s where the rumors came from.

I do hope that the MIR foundation, and also Global Green and other projects that aim to help rebuild New Orleans, will be able to put up many many homes and help the city bounce back. I salute everyone who works on and support these and similar projects. There are still those out there who keeps insisting that Brad’s doing all this for the PR, and I feel sorry for them. Here is a good man, trying to make even just a small difference, and all they can do is find fault with him and Angie. Let’s just wish them more success. By the way, here’s a link to a very nice article http://www.portfolio.com/views/blogs/the-hollywood-deal/2007/12/03/brad-pitt-actually-is-doing-a-heck-of–a-job

Brad Pitt did a sit-down interview that will be aired tomorrow, Tuesday, night on ET/Entertainment Tonight. All the entertainment shows tonight showed clips from this morning’s coverage by Today. So the word is getting out!

I emailed Larry King that “chocolate city” question as well as Tenika’s (I think) about how people would qualify to be chosen to live in the houses. I think I’ll also ask about what Brad thinks about federal money for Gulf Coast homeowners being diverted to the casinos & condos by the Republican governor in Mississippi.

Did any of you notice those big black bags under both AJ and Brad Pitt’s eyes? I hope they don’t have colds or flu ,especially the children. I think these two people are now leading lives that I would love to point my grandchildren to and say “look at these role models . Try to act in the world as they do ,with love and concern for their fellow riders of this earth”.

To the posters who provided all those wonderful links, thank you!

It’s so touching to see how content and effusive Brad can be when talking about worthwhile things that are so dear to him. I was really hoping that the strong wind would blow his cap off and reveal his gorgeous hair but no such luck!

A big thank you to Sherry for all her fab write-ups. Love your style and how you always inject a positive tone throughout. I’m sure your daughter had a rocking good time during her big day. Organizing a young child’s party is no small feat by any stretch of the imagination! The logistics involved and the supervising can be nightmarish. Hope you didn’t vow never again because come next year, you’ll relent because the memories are so worth it.

Hi Brad and Angelina! I too could use some help, to build a green A-frame so I can give my mobile home away to a good family.Mississippi was hit pretty hard up here, and then we opened up the houses left and took in our Louisiana family. I’m a Mother Earth magazine follower, but meeting skepticism here in Picayune. I have some good recycled material for the building, and would love to surprise this more than deserving family. Would anyone else like to join the project??

I have a question and I hope someone can help me out! (It’s a little silly).

During Brad Pitt’s interview with Larry King in New Orleans, right before or after a commercial break, their was a small quote from Angelina about their relationship. I am trying to find out what she said or a clip because she stated it so beautifully! Do I sound crazy? Does anyone have any idea what I am refering too?
