Brad Pitt Out Of State
Brad Pitt pulled out from his role in State Of Play. The film was set to start pre-production soon and would start filming early in the new year. However, according to an article out of Reuters, there were script concerns involved that couldn’t be resolved due to the current screenwriters’ strike in Hollywood. Universal Pictures is still intending to shoot the film which co-stars Edward Norton, Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman, and Robin Wright Penn. They’re looking to approach Johnny Depp and Russell Crowe as possible replacements.
It’s a shame, it sounded like a good film and it was an excellent overall cast. However, I know that Brad has no shortage of work between acting opportunities and production work.
Universal Pictures released this official statement:
“Brad Pitt has left the Universal Pictures production of ‘State of Play.’ We remain committed to this project and to the filmmakers, cast members, crew and others who are also involved in making the movie. We reserve all rights in this matter.”

Off topic…Happy Thanksgiving to JP fans! I got a copy of Angie’s book “Notes From My Travels” about her visits with refugees that was published in 2003. It is incredibly moving and Angie uses the word “grateful” over and over, which just brings home the essence of Thanksgiving. We are so incredibly blessed to be living in America. I hope we fans go buy this book as all of Angie’s proceeds from this book are donated to the UNHCR (as written on the inside cover). It is one small way we can help others especially during the holidays. I am so awed by her compassion and support for those less fortunate and am equally impressed by Brad’s worthy causes. Happy Thanksgiving to the Jolie-Pitts!

Back on topic….I am certain BP is astute, and trust his decision not to do this one BUT with that cast, it’s going to be a GREAT movie, and certainly I was looking forward to BP in the role… Hopefully, his action will get things in motion, and he may be able to re-enter in confidence of a well done movie WITH great co-stars. Is it possible he is moving into production and direction mode and he may be out of the movie star spotlight altogether?

Susie, I bought the book too, I read it in an hour. So informative too. Hope, the fans go out & buy the book to help Angie’s charity.
I ‘m sure,Brad has a good reason to back out of the movie State of Play, there are more movies line up for him in the future. I hope, Brad & Angie make another movie together.
Happy Thanksgiving Day! God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s. Thanks Sherry.

At this point in his career, he had accomplished more than just being an A-list actor. We all know, he can act. I’m sure, if he is not comfortable with the script, he will not do it. He turned down The Fountain and turned down Matrix. He has the ability to do what is within his standards as an actor and a producer. He is a very intelligent and talented person. BTW, Happy Thanksgiving to all.

It sounds as if the studio isn’t very happy with Brad about his decision. Thankfully Brad has enough clout in HW that this won’t negatively affect him. This does not sound like an amicable pullout, I wonder what REALLY happened. I bet they tried to strong-arm him.

Updated with Brad’s side:
Pitt’s camp disputes that he violated a pay or play deal, that he ever approved a final script, or that he even wanted to drop out of the film that he has been the driving force behind for 16 months. At issue is a disagreement with the studio over the final direction of the shooting script.
The film has been a high U priority since the studio and producers Andrew Hauptman and Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner landed the project after a hot bidding battle. Pitt became the first talent attachment, when he agreed to play a politico-turned-journalist whose loyalties are tested when he spearheads a newspaper’s investigation into a murder that leads to the fast-rising pol whose campaigns the journo once ran (Daily Variety, July 27, 2006).
Pitt sparked to a script by Matthew Michael Carnahan, who adapted the Paul Abbott-created British miniseries. While the actor went off and made several movies in quick succession, most recently “Burn After Reading,” Universal went through rewrites by the likes of Peter Morgan, Tony Gilroy and Billy Ray. While the film attracted a sparkling cast, Pitt’s vision departed with that of the studio somewhere along that rewrite trail.

I’m pretty sure that B/Pitt thought about it and finalized his good judgement. Happy Thanksgiving to all. I hope to see more pictures of the family.

I hope where ever they are that they are having some good private time. But if they did go to Brad’s parents, next week all the negative magazine reports will say that Angie spend the whole weekend fighting with Brad’s mother. I do miss seeing pictures of all of the children. We have not seen them since they left NY. Only that outing with Madd and when Pax visited Angie’s set.

Yes, Brad was offered and turned down the role of Neo.

I the above telling. He agreed to one thing and on his return THEY had it seems, 3 other writers mess with it….Would you be happy. :(

Yes, he turned down Matrix which surprised me when I read this trivia about him because a computer hacker type person is more like “in his alley” than the Troy character. (My personal opinion) Although he is so talented, he can do both. He seems to avoid a typecast type actor like being “Spiderman” or “Batman.” He mentioned before that, he thinks being tied on a rope next to a blue screen is kind of silly. I think he wants a more phyical action film (Fight club) which shows his acting ability, (last sentence my opinion) Off topic, do you think they are in Missouri? I am glad, whenever they go to MO, the paps can’t seem to keep track of it. That’s good.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERY ONE. I DONT KNOW WHY SOMEONE STILL HAD TO READ THOSE MAGAZINE WHO;S STORY IS NOTHING BUT LIES, JUST OUT TO MAKE MONEY . STOP READING THEM, ANGIE AND BRAD AND THE CHILDREN ARE HAPPY AND WILL BE TOGETHER FOREVER. BRAD LOVES HER AND THE CHILDREN AND WILL DO HIS VERY BEST TO KEEP THE FAMILY. THERE IS NO FIGHTING, ANGIE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THAT, SHE GOT MORE THING TO DO FIRST HAND THAN FIGHTING WITH BRAD OR HIS MOTHER. SO STOP READING THOSE STUPID ARTICLES. READ THE BOOK THAT ANGIE WROTE INSTEAD THE TITLE IS ‘NOTES FROM MY TRAVEL’ AND EVERYONE WILL REALIZE THAT THERE IS ANOTHER WORLD OUT THERE AND IT IS NOT VERY GOOD. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU GOOD PEOPLE.

When the Jolie-Pitt’s go to Missouri, there’s no pictures of them all the time, so maybe, they spent their Thanksgiving in Missouri. I hope, to see new pictures of them later.
Have to go. See you all cyber friends later.
