Brad Pitt to narrate PBS series with Morgan Freeman

Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman to narrate PBS series

In his continuing quest to work on environment and world issues, Brad Pitt will be narrating a PBS series called “e2: the economies of being environmentally conscious”; the series will be entering its second season.

The plan for the next season is to deal with energy use and designs that enable people to save energy. Brad Pitt’s segment, titled “e2 design” will feature a great deal of architects and their visions for energy-saving design. Considering Brad’s passion for architecture, this isn’t surprising at all. I’m sure the segment will be awesome.

Morgan Freeman’s voice is so perfect for narration that I’m very interested in his segment too, which is the first in the series, and is titled “e2 energy”.

You can check out more information and view some free webcasts at the official e2 website.

Brad narrated for the first season as well. shown on PBS stations across the nation, and available for purchase now. He did a nice job during season 1

  2. sophie says:

Angie bought some art at an auction in London (she was an absentee bidder). See:

  3. Susan says:

We saw this last week and it was great! Hubby and I were flipping thru channels and I heard Brad’s voice and said “stop!”. We just happened to catch it when it was first coming on. It is truly amazing what people can do to harmonize architecture and the environment. Wonder why we don’t bother to do it more?!

  4. Alayna says:

There are more important things he should should be talking about(it’s only 1/8 a degree hotter than last year) But it’s his choice.

  5. Rita says:

more important things he should be talking about? really? this comment TODAY on the day Al Gore won the Nobel Peace prize for JUST THI TOPIC? I think Brad chose right…this is one of the most important topics out there in todays world

  6. Sherry says:

Rita, I totally agree. I think that the environment is very important to get talking about, as m uch as possible.

  7. Bel says:

I really am a huge Brangelina fan, but this irks me. They don’t live an even vaguely eco-conscious lifestyle (helicopter rides, huge gas-guzzlers, private planes) and their carbon footprint is probably 100x that of the average Joe and it just seems so hypocritical that Brad is making this his vehicle while not practising what he preaches. He’s promoting an eco lifestyle for other people.
That said, I really do admire his efforts and the building projects he’s behind, the sooner laws are passed to ensure simple carbon-saving steps in new builds the better.

Not sure if anyone is aware that the Jolie-pitts are leaving New York to go to LA…Maddox had his last day of school..

Please remove my comment this website is ridiculous “awating moderation”

  10. Alayna says:

you obliviously didn’t read it’s only 1/8 a degree hotter than last year.
I personally think he should talk about sooo many children dying in Chad and all over Africa, and for only 30 dollars a month (that’s 1 dollar a day) you can help help not only feed them but give them an education, give them cloths a safe place to stay and meet their the basic medical needs. That is better to talk about then trying to change the weather.

    You can use:
    compassion international.
    Hope international
    world vision
    Holt international
or many other that i just don’t know the name of, i personally use world vision.

  11. Sherry says:

Bel - I totally get what you’re saying, it’s true they use up a lot of energy with their travels but I also think it’s great that Brad is trying to promote entire buildings that conserve energy. Also, I love that he’s tried to gear them towards low-income families like the ones he’s been involved within NOLA.

Alayna - Not everyone can support and promote every single cause. There’s nothing wrong with the causes that you listed, but keep in mind Brad is also involved in the ONE campaign and Angelina deals with poverty in developing countries through the UN. Obviously helping to develop energy-saving architecture is very important to Brad and the more passion you have for something, the better it is.

And you know what, 1/8 of a degree or not, I know that my city broke record temps for a great deal of September and October and have hardly seen any color change at all in our leaves, which is not normal for here. I believe strongly in the promotion of environmental education and development, so I applaud Brad for his work.

  12. Passerby says:

I really think the enviroment is something we really need to protect. And I’m glad to know that celebrities are getting themselves invovled. We definately don’t want “The day after tomorrow” to happen. I am so proud of Brad and Morgan and all the other celebrities out there that are trying to help the world. Thank you Lots for awaring the world.

And thanks for the update Sherry!

BTW Sherry I still want to know what kinda of watch Angelina is wearing. I might actually save up some money to get one if I knew what it was.

  13. buck says:

Sorry for offtop. I found a video on youtube that shows the Pitt’s house in Sud Tyrol. Could it be true? In case, the video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHAZbLhju4E

  14. Mary Ann says:

Alayna, are you aware that Angelina donates 33% of her salaries to the poor. And if she is doing that, possibly Brad is doing the same thing.
Also, 1/8 of a degree hotter than last year, but how many degrees hotter than 10 years ago.

  15. Mary Ann says:

And as an after thought: If the Jolie-Pitts were not in the business they are in, where they must travel a great deal, I think they would live a life style as they are advocating, but movie stars and UN personnel must travel.

  16. Mrs. Robinson says:

What Ange and Brad do to contribute to the environment is above and beyond what us ordinary folks do to conserve energy. Compare yourself before you write your remarks. Do you car pool, utilize wind, solar panels or conserve water etc. Do you speak up or donate your $$$$ to help the poor. We could all do better and should to help hungry children. Angie is a compasionate person despite her flaws (as we all have). Donate 1/3 of your income to help the less fortunate and travel to dangerous places to help the poor! I don’t care how much money you make! Even the very rich don’t do what they do.The time that they invest says it all. How much time do you personally invest to making even one person’s life better. Answer that honestly –then you can comment.

  17. Kay says:

Alayna - only 1/8 degree hotter than last year? this is what you base your comment on whether or not Brad should be pursuing this issue? Educate yourself. Global warming is NOT just the temperature rising every year, it is the massive effect is it having on the south pole, the north pole, etc. Did you see Al Gore’s documentary? You know, as Rita said, the Nobel Peace prize winner? Doubt it.

Bel - the Jolie-Pitts DO live the lifestyle they promote, at least to a degree more than most Americans do. Have you ever taken a look at their clothes? at the clothes the kids wear? Hand-me-downs, and AJ is often seen with a mix-and-match of the same outfits. They drive a hybrid car. Who knows how they live their private life…NOBODY KNOWS, except them, of course.

I find it ludricous that so many nasty comments are made about people who live so in the limelight (and I am not just talking about the Jolie-Pitts here), who really try to DO SOMETHING, and still must deal with the DAILY DAILY issue surrounding their celebrity status.

GOOD FOR THE JOLIE-PITTS. As Sherry pointed out, they back MANY causes and do put their whole heart behind them…literally and figuratively.

  18. BlessBrangelina says:

    Alayna;

1/8th may not be much to you. But if it’s affecting the weather here in the west, imagine what it’s doing to those countries you mentioned.

In an already hot country with poor rainfall, 1/8th could also affect not only drinking water but farming water too. The result? More people starving, weakened and displaced.

As for travelling the way they do, I don’t blame them at all. If I had to worry about my children’s safety and probably the safety of others, I would choose this way too.

  19. lac says:

Brad is not telling anyone how to live. He is just trying to explain that there are problems coming in the future. The poor will most likely have to deal with the bulk of these problems. We either start dealing with them now or later. Brad deals home, fuel and the enviornment.

BTW Mr Gore flies in private planes, rides in big cars and has big houses. He explain that he tries to payback for his carbon footprint by using solar and wind power. I’m sure Brad and Angelina are doing the same

If you want a perfect activist read about Ed Begley Jr.

  20. Alayna says:

I live in a like very very very very hot place(but recently it’s gotten cold) and maybe it does affect the people in Africa like that, and like that is why we need to help them. But the fact is, we like can’t change the weather, we can pray to God that he will but like that about it.

Anyways the real reason i decided to post again is, i’m surprised that you people responded so maturely give yourself a pat on the back. Instead of like closing up more on the idea from stupid responses with like foul language and sore arguments you acted like humans. Good job.

  21. irma says:

We should be applauding Brad & Ange for their causes, Brad is doing something very important in the environment at NOLA, Ange helping the refugees thru education & donating their time & money. True, they travel a lot but that’s for doing their jobs, they are celebrities, I wished more celebrities will be like them. They are making a difference, that’s the most important thing. They are using their status to make the world listen & be aware of what’s going on around the globe. I am so proud of Brad & Ange.

  22. Lucy says:

It seems like no matter what Brad or Angie will do, they will be criticized by people who are not aware of their purpose. They are humanitarians. Their mantra is to help the environment and the needy in the world. Since they are famous internationally and A-listers in Hollywood, they are using this status to generate awareness by putting the message out there through the media. Communication of information about the environment is vital especially at this stage. Helping Chad and the rest of the continent are important too that is why, Angie has these projects which were her passion even before she met Brad. Actually, they do not have to do any of these projects. They can sit at the pool, sip wine and enjoy the California sun all day. BUT they are humanitarians. They feel the pain and have seen the cry of the hungry, the dying, the disease, the poverty. They care. Very few celebrities pay attention to these issues nowadays. But Angie and Brad are putting 50% of their time and efforts to these humanitarian causes. Of course, they fly in first class jets and fast cars. Everyone is allowed to play as hard as they work. I don’t think it is hypocritical to enjoy money and luxury when you have it. When you are dying, you will think, why didn’t I enjoy my life when I was younger, and have money and have the time. The important thing is they are sharing their gifts to us, to the poor, to the ones who need help as best they can. Remember, I said, as best they can. They are allowed to stay in first class hotels because they earned it. And it was mentioned too, that once in a while, Brad and Angie (without the kids) have stayed at Motel 6 and have eaten at Taco Bell. But they are not perfect. They are as close to the ideal to us their fans. I am proud of them. Thank you Sherry.

Usually, I’d type something long in response to Alayna’s and Bel’s comments, but everyone’s articulated some very well thought out and eloquent replies. Woohoo! So, I’ll just be glib and say Alayna’s being overly captious, and Bel just needs to have a better understanding of Brad and Angie’s lives. At least, they are making a difference unlike me and some other people here, and I think, in their case since they are the most hounded celebs, they have to pick their battles. Their mode of transportation may somewhat contradict what they’re trying to promote environmentally, but they do have their children to protect.

  25. Suebee says:

I applaud Angelina and Brad. Of course they have considered their carbon footprint. They’re not stupid, selfish, or hypocritical. Given the nature of their advocacy work, the security issues they face that most of us don’t, the demands of their careers - above all else, the safety of their children - what transportation would you suggest they take?

People need to stay up out of their business. Whenever I read about them, my faith in people is restored.

As for those suggesting that they feed the hungry children through some charity, you misunderstand them completely. They’re not about charity, they’re about social change.

If you don’t know what I mean, read the mission statements of the National Network of Grantmakers, The Funding Exchange, The Appalachian Community Fund, The Southern Rural Development Initiative, North Star Foundation and the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, to mention a few sites that might enlighten you.

Educate yourself before you start dissing Angelina and Brad. Certainly, there’s a place for charity in this world, but there’ll always be a need for charity if the circumstances that oppress people are not addressed. Angie and Brad are social change agents. They get it because they have educated themselves.

Awesome! I can’t wait to watch it!

  27. LETIZIA says:

MORE IMPORTANT THINGS????? WHAT COULD BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN STOPING OUR PLANET BEING DESTROYED BY STUPID & GREDY PEOPLE (CORPORATIONS) WHO CARES ONLY ABOUT MONEY ITSELF. WE HAVE TO THANK & APPRECIATE WHAT BRAD PITT AND THOSE OTHER FEW ARE DOING TO EDUCATE US ALL ON THIS VERY IMPORTANT AND DELICATE ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE TRULY A CONCERN TO ALL. WOH! BRAD PITT IS NOT ONLY A HANDSOME, SEXY AND FAMOUS HUMAN BEING, BUT ALSO A SENSITIVE ONE TO MOTHER NATURE! ANGELINA JOLIE IS REALLY, REALLY LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH A MAN AT HER SIDE. THEY BOTH ARE VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE. VERY, VERY FEW LIKE THEM IN THE WORLD!

  28. Faryal says:

You know Brad, I have to think about myself. I’m pretty sure US$20 000 is nothing for you. So do I have to give you my bank details or are you going to send me the money by cheque. Maybe I just have to do that.
