Brad Pitt’s back tattoo finally explained!

Back in May, everyone was wondering what on earth Brad Pitt had gotten inked on his back when we saw pictures of him with his shirt pulled (or blown by the wind) up. Speculation ran rampant with one of the funniest ones being that it was the New Orleans levee system. That made me scratch my head since I saw a side-by-side image somewhere of Brad’s tattoo and a map of the levee system and they looked nothing alike at all.
In the Entertainment Weekly interview, Angelina Jolie finally gave us some insight to Brad’s newest tattoo.
What’s the deal with Brad’s new tattoo?
I drew that. We went to Davos. It’s not that we were bored at the World Economic Forum, but one night we didn’t have anything to do, so I was drawing on his back.So it’s not permanent?
It is. But I was just sketching. On him?
On him, yeah. And you thought, ”Let’s make it a tattoo”?
He just liked it! The picture everybody saw was kind of awkward, but it just lines up beautifully on his back, just enhances the part of the body I like.So it doesn’t mean anything per se.
I mean, it’s meaningful in that it’s us making angles and shapes out of each other’s body, that kind of a thing.
I love that it was just Angelina doodling on Brad’s back. It’s very personal and meaningful to both of them but it had nothing to do with any of the ideas other people had thought up to explain it.

I love that the tats are Angie’s sketches..they are really into personalising and creating mementoes that are forever. The doodles mean nothing or make sense to anyone else but them and that is so cool! This is Angie’s work of art and Brad loves her so much that it’s now a permanent part of him.

D & Rach - she didn’t say it was an angel. She said it was angles. :)

Maybe because I´m not English, I´m not getting it. What does she mean by ” making angles and shapes out of each other’s body”? How? And did she draw on his body, and then had a tattooist etch that into his skin?

It’s really sweet on Angie making angles on Brad’s body & Brad made it permanent to last for a life time. He got her marks permanently. Love it. So sweet & loving.
God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

BRAD, PLEASE DO NOT MARK ON THAT BEAUTIFUL BODY OF YOURS. WE KNOW YOU LOVE ANGIE BUT YOU MAY ONE DECIDE YOU DON’T LIKE TATOOS AND THEY ARE HARD TO COVER UP. LASER REMOVAL IS EXTREMELY PAINFUL

I love how complimentary they are to each other. On the tatoo; how incredibly sweet.
I was thinking this would be great for my stretch marks….lol…I’m serious sorta. I bet that would hurt though. But, what a good way to *make* them something more beautiful.

That’s so sweet, the reporter should have asked what he drew on her. Especially as said “We like to…”
But this interview is so much better than Vanity Fair. Very little about Wanted, but at least they spoke about it some. Unlike VF.

Loved the interview. It seems the more I learn about Angelina the more I like her. I love that she doesn’t feel the pressure to fit into the “i’m in hollywood so therefore I am a democrat” mold. She really is a brilliant mind who uses it to the betterment of everything she involves herself with. She has my utmost respect.

I think the ‘tattoo’ thing just goes to show how influential/powerful (I’m not really sure these are the words I’m looking for) Angie and Brad are, for people to conjure up meanings to such trivial things are their tattoo. Of course, to them it has meaning but that other people guess and even seem to say they know what the tattoo means (as some people seem to have claimed back when they were first shown) I guess that shows how much people pay attention to them. I ramble, and I’m sorry. Anyway, I love the fact that she and Brad have different ways of showing their love for each other.
