Brad Re-Broadcast on CNN

by Sherry on December 6th, 2007

If any of you missed Brad Pitt on Larry King Live last night, you can catch a special encore broadcast tonight at 8 pm Eastern time - check your local listings. There must have been a really good response if it’s being re-broadcast again so soon. If you go to the website you can also see some video clips:

Brad on Angelina
Brad on adopting children
Pitt: Rebuild New Orleans

Unfortunately I missed the full broadcast so I was grateful to have these clips. Which leads me to apologizing to all my wonderful readers for the lack of updating the past couple of days - a nasty gastro bug is ripping through my family and I’ve been in bed for two days almost non-stop. Today was the first day I ate solid food. Hopefully I’ll be better by tomorrow and I’ll be able to get back to this site properly!

Brad sounded so contented and peaceful. On fatherhood, he said the most difficult but most rewarding. He said everything which were the opposite of tabloid headlines. I can’t believe the tabs. They are back on the cover again with manufactured headlines. So sad. They are even including Shiloh.

(Of course, Pax had a bday party - why wouldn’t he? Just because we don’t see pics or read about it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. In fact, I’d prefer not to see pics of the JP children, even though it’d be hard for me to go without them.)

Sherry, your health comes first! Take care of yourself, we’ll limp along without you until you’re 100%.

Hope you feel better soon. Thanks to you and Ligaya for initiating the fundraising here for Make it Right . Ligaya, I cruise some of the sites you do, and feel like I’m meeting an old friend whenever I see your comments in other places.

For those who haven’t seen the architectural plans for the Lower 9th houses, visit Treehuggers. com. I was inspired to give even more.

On the night of the Larry King special, I called up family members all over the country to watch. Even the elderly aunts were moved to contribute.

Thanks for creating this kind, safe space.

More about this another time, but because MIR is addressing the needs of historically disenfranchised people, those opposed to systemic change are coming out of the woodwork. Racism, classism, etc. are alive and well all over this country, palpably so in New Orleans.

I get moderated - lots! Once, I had 9 posts in moderation at one time :-). My posts are totally innocent too - no swear words or name-calling. I think there’s a filter that screens for certain words which trigger moderation. A couple of words may be hate/hater(s). It usually takes a day or two to get approved.

Ha ha, my reply to your comment about moderation is under moderation ;-). Let me try this again.

Hey Sherry! Hope you get to feeling better soon. Remember to make sure you take in plenty of liquids, xtra actually. GI problems don’t hurt you as much as the Dehydration shuts down the body. I’m in the medical field. NOT A DOCTOR, but I used to work in a clinical lab, then the Emergency Dept. Im finishing my degree right now in Microbiology. I’m going to do antibiotic and vaccine research! OH Yeah-Finals week is here again! Hugs to Everybody! Deana

Sherry hope you are feeling better today. Lots of flu going on down here in NJ also. About moderation it is always interesting to see if what I write goes thru or is in moderation. I will be watching again next Tuesday night when they do the uncut portions of the show. Ligaya I feel like you about seeing the children now, after what Brad said it made feel guilty about wanting to see their pictures.

I just had to throw in my two cents about the LK interview. I completely loved that Larry was asking Brad about working with Angie, stating something about that fact that he was working with someone he was in a relationship with and Brad was quick to say that their relationship started after they filmed the movie. I only wish the rest of America would believe that and stop saying such horrible things about Angie. All those tabloids and their websites are full of haters, and I feel sad that Brad has to defend their relationship at all. I just don’t comprehend how they can hate someone who has done so much good work and who is trying to help the world. Anyway, I just wish I could tell Brad in person how happy I was to have him say that on national TV. This site has some wonderful people, and I’m proud of us all for donating anything that we can toward the MIR project. I hope to be able to donate more soon. I think it’s great that he is trying to make a difference, and I’m glad he’s starting here at home. Happy Holidays to you all…

Suebee, nice to know there’s a like-minded, like-hearted old friend out there with me. Mainly I post replying to the most egregious lies about Angelina. I don’t have the time/energy to respond to all the slurs & slander, but I do the best I can. Seems like legions of X-fans have lots of time/energy to spread their venom & vitriol out there - like it’s their mission & focus in life.

There’s a few of us truth-speakers out there and that’s good. Sometimes I think if only each Brangelina fan posted one positive or countered one negative comment every day or week, we’d make some headway. Mainly, I’m worried about Angie’s effectiveness as a humanitarian being undermined, as well as undermining her acting career. There are already comments in the awards blogs about the tabloid stuff overtaking her reputation as an actor.

This quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. guides me: “To ignore evil is to become an accomplice to it.”

    This is from well-regarded Sasha Stone’s awardsdaily.com, 11/22/07:

Angelina Jolie is still a possibility but the fact remains that she is on every single tabloid every single week and people might just be sick of her. Voters like to lift people out of obscurity and anoint them with their wondrous giving spirit – they aren’t so much into awarding the very biggest of the big who don’t need their attention.

Someone commented in response: Angelina Jolie, the BO will not be a major problem. The great reviews and critics awards are enough. Little Children nods were based on that. Of course BO always helps but it’s not fundamental.
The problem with Jolie is the tabloidism around her and the excessive releasing of Afghan or Iraq films and not the low BO of her film.

And someone else pointed out: Why should Jolie be punished because tabloids like In Touch keep creating stories to put her on the cover? BTW is anyone bothered that Tom ONeil is the executive editor of In Touch and writes for LA Times Oscar site and complains about actresses being in the tabloids?

Me: Would someone please start a letter writing campaign to the L.A. Times about Tom O’Neill’s conflict of interest?

    A Mighty Heart (small profit):
    Budget - $16m
    Est. marketing costs - $5m
    Worldwide gross - $17.5m
    DVD - $18.4m
    Est. studio profit - $5-$15m

6 For Your Consideration ads for AOJJ, 2 for Beowulf, but none for AMH, what?

Sight & Sound magazine, Graham Fuller (Critic, US):

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (Andrew Dominik, USA)
Malick-like in its metaphysical approach to landscape, this wintry psychological Western meditates on the tragic consequences of fame on idol and worshipper.

How strange that Warner Bros. should dump the film containing Brad Pitt’s finest performance, as well as Casey Affleck’s Oscar-worthy turn as Jesse’s paranoid acolyte.

ligaya, I don’t think you’ve anything to worry about as far the smear campaigns go. As Angie puts it so succintly and eloquently, there’s no confusion among the people that she works with whether professionally or on a humanitarian level. Few take this tabloid stuff seriously.

She’s sought after by powerful movers and shakers in Hollywood. They’re businessmen first and foremost and wouldn’t touch her if they think she’s soiled commodity. I doubt that the humanitarian types have time to read, much less ponder on tabloid trash.

Brad and Angie have legions of fans that collectively can and have been flexing our muscles and causing quite some serious waves. The JPs might not react to mudslinging but that doesn’t mean that their fans won’t retaliate with our voices and pocketbooks. I truly believe that the industry is really taking serious notice and respond by bestowing awards and all sorts of accolades on them.

The mudslinging as far as I’m concerned is just well-orchestrated to give the illusion of widespread hate and dislike for them. Hardly rooted in reality. I for one doesn’t really know anyone who likes X or hate Angie. The spin doctors are failing miserably with their lies as most polls results contradict the doom and gloom.

Angelina and Brad are a good example of using ones celebrity for good causes.. for the right things. Brad is lucky that he found Angie. I think she has helped him develop into a better, more giving person. I respect them both.

Of course, the people who work with Angelina & Brad on a professional basis making movies, and their humanitarian/philanthropic work don’t pay any attention to tabloid media. Neither do the people who know them personally. And Angeina/Brad righfully don’t respond to the tabs (it’d be impossible to erase all the lying rumors + it’d call more attention to them) unless they think it’s important enough - like the Barack Obama rumor.

I’m worried about public perception, and the erosion of the JP’s public support. I sample a bunch of media (published & online) and surf a few blogs/boards - the extent of negativity out there is strong & persistent.

This is from well-regarded, film industry insider Sasha Stone’s awardsdaily.com, 11/22/07, about Angie’s chances for a Best Actress Oscar for A Mighty Heart:

“Angelina Jolie is still a possibility but the fact remains that she is on every single tabloid every single week and people [meaning awards voters] might just be sick of her.”

Colin Powell even felt compelled to come to Angelina’s defense around the time of her appointment to the Council of Foreign Relations.

I call it the Swiftboating of Angelina - repeat lies loud enough, often enough and in enough places and people will think it’s the truth.

i have to say, Is jennifer really so desperate to go spend Christmas with her EX in laws that says alot about her. I think Brad should tell her to get a life. or does her family mean so little to her that she has to spend it with someone elses. i mean really

Nita - That’s just referring to something spread in the tabloids. Nowhere reputable has said anything of the sort. I’m pretty sure that Jennifer Aniston has moved on. That’s what’s frustrating - she’s living her own life and not harping on it but the tabloids still are. I would lose my mind if people were constantly writing about me in regards to any of my exes!
