Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie snag Teen Choice Award nominations
June 17, 2009 by Sherry
Although they’re quite far past their own teenage years now, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie both received nominations for the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. The awards will air on FOX at 8 pm on August 10th.

Brad was nominated for the “Choice Movie Star: Drama” award for playing Benjamin Button. His competition is Hugh Jackman for Australia, Dev Patel for Slumdog Millionaire, Channing Tatum for Fighting, and Robert Pattinson for Twilight.
Angelina got her nomination for “Choice Movie Actress: Drama for her role in Changeling. She goes head-to-head with Nicole Kidman for Australia, Beyonce for Obsessed, Freida Pinto for Slumdog Millionaire. and Kristen Stewart for Twilight.
In all honesty, I don’t think they’re going to win. The award voting is open to teenagers (13-19) who can vote once per day online. That demographic is more than likely going to gravitate towards giving the award to Rob Pattinson and Kristin Stewart. Still, considering that it IS the Teen Choice Awards, I’m just really happy to see that they were nominated, especially Brad because I wouldn’t have thought of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button as being a movie that would be overly interesting to your average teenager.
What’s especially interesting though is that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are competing against each other too. Both of them are nominated for “Choice Celebrity Activist” which is amazing. I’m so thrilled that this is an award, I think it’s a great example for young people, no matter who wins. Brad and Angie are up against each other, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio, Hayden Panettiere, and Natalie Portman.
I admire all five of them for their activism but I would personally love to see Angelina win for her hard work with the UNHCR or have Brad win for his efforts with Make It Right after he stepped up and helped the people who had been so beaten down by Katrina.
If you’re a PittWatch reader between the ages of 13 and 19, please go to the Teen Choice Awards website and register to cast your vote, and keep voting daily.
Good luck Brad and Angelina!

Brad Pitt at Spike’s Guys Choice Awards in L.A.
May 31, 2009 by Sherry
In the comments the other day people were mentioning that there were rumors - though no photographic evidence - that Brad Pitt had flown to Los Angeles. Everyone was speculating what business he had in town, whether it was for pre-production work on Moneyball or something else. Instead it’s because last night Brad’s hit movie Fight Club was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Spike’s Guys Choice Awards!
How exciting to see Brad Pitt and Edward Norton together again! Those two had great acting chemistry and I know I would love to see them act in something in the future again too.
I’ll say one thing, Brad looks like he’s having a really good time!
While he was there, he also accepted the award that Angelina Jolie won for Femme Fatale. Femme fatale indeed, not many other actresses can pull it off quite as well as she can! Angie probably would have been there if she could have, but it’s the final week of filming for Salt coming up and she was already lucky enough to get time off for Cannes. Add in her recent on-set injury (People has reported that she suffered a mild concussion but was able to return to work the same day, what a trooper!) and there was definitely no time for her to go to the awards show.

Compliation video of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Cannes coverage
May 28, 2009 by Sherry
Are you tired of the Cannes Film Festival yet? After all, it was over a week ago. Still, it’s hard to stop talking about how amazing it was to see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the red carpet again since it had been awhile since the Oscar awards.
If you missed any of the coverage, this YouTube video is fantastic - it compiles reporting from eTalk (a show dear to my heart since it’s Canadian AND has Lainey!), Extra, Insider, CNN, and Inside Edition.
That’s some pretty well-rounded coverage! Enjoy!
Also, in unrelated news, a PittWatch reader sent me a link to a photo of Angelina Jolie when she was a very young girl. I had always seen so much of Brad Pitt whenever I saw pictures of Shiloh but if you look at this photo, my goodness Shiloh looks so much like Angie!
What do you think?
Video on the Cannes red carpet - by special request
May 24, 2009 by Sherry
A few PittWatch readers have emailed me to ask if I could post a video clip of Brad Pitt walking down the Cannes red carpet to get Angelina Jolie after he had finished posing with the cast of Inglourious Basterds. It was very cute the way he immediately went over to her so they could walk together.
As luck would have it, another reader emailed me this morning to share that very video clip with me, so here you go, enjoy!
Too bad all the glamor side of the business is over now and Angelina is back to work filming again - it’s good for her, of course but I just never get tired of seeing them at special events like the Cannes Film Festival!
Brad Pitt’s “Tree of Life” picked up at Cannes
May 22, 2009 by Sherry

The Cannes Film Festival is more than just movie debuts and red carpet events, even though that’s the part we get most excited over as fans. After all, we all love to see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie dressed up for the red carpet.
However, there’s a great deal of business that goes on at Cannes, and it just makes good sense if you think about it. The film festival is swarming with actors, directors, producers, and people who can lay claim to more than one of those titles.
Brad Pitt was obviously busy talking shop because it’s been announced that his film Tree of Life has been picked up at Cannes by TriPictures after being sold by Summit.
This movie has been so under the wire that it’s been hard to really know what it’s about, who is starring in it, and perhaps most importantly - when the heck is it going to be ready to go? Brad is a co-producer for the film and the brief synopsis is that it deals with a man who has seen nothing but sickness, death, and upset since his childhood and how he comes to terms with that reality as an adult.
I’m glad that it’s been picked up, the movie keeps popping up everywhere and is obviously important to Brad. Right now it seems that it’s slated for a release sometime “later this year” in the U.S. but there’s no further detail than that. I’ll keep you posted as more details emerge of course!
Edit: It seems I caused some confusion, and I apologize for not being clear enough. A lot of business deals go on during Cannes and they were seeking distribution for the movie. The movie wasn’t picked up to be shown at Cannes, it was picked up by TriPictures who now have the rights to distribute the film. The Cannes Film Festival is also a great place to do business networking, so I’m glad Brad and Summit found a deal they were pleased with since this will hopefully get Tree Of Life out there sooner than it would have otherwise.
(Thanks Gabrielle!)

Vote at People.com - What do you think of Angelina Jolie’s dress?
May 21, 2009 by Sherry

I got an email this morning from the StyleWatch folks at People.com asking me if I could spread the word here at PittWatch because they have a special poll up about the slit on Angelina Jolie’s dress at Cannes. Since I love People, how could I resist?
They’re wondering if we think the slit in Angie’s dress is super sexy or if it’s a little too high. Please go vote in their poll. When I voted (choosing “sexy” of course!), it was pretty close with 58% calling it sexy and 42% saying it was too high.
After you’ve voted I’d love to hear your opinion here in the comments as well - did you love the daring slit up her thigh or did you think it was too over-the-top?

I’m still reeling from all the red carpet photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at Cannes yesterday, aren’t you? I figured that was as good a reason as any to put a few more up for you to enjoy. I like the top photo, showing the cast together - although I loved Angelina’s sexy dress, I really like Diane Kruger’s dress as well - the white and silver are so pretty.
Some of my favorite Brad and Angelina photos are the ones where they look like they’re in another world. Such as these:

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie hit the Inglourious Basterds red carpet at Cannes Film Festival!
May 20, 2009 by Sherry

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have stepped out on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the debut of Inglourious Basterds!

Brad is looking divine in a dark Tom Ford tux. Meanwhile Angelina is looking HOT in a very sexy high-slit dress by Versace. I’m so glad to see her in a different color, and that cut up the leg is just… WOW. You can check out style notes over here.

Brad Pitt at the Inglourious Basterds photocall in Cannes
May 20, 2009 by Sherry

It’s a busy day for Brad Pitt in Cannes today. He’s already attended the official photocall for Inglourious Basterds along with cast and crew including Quentin Tarantino, Diane Kruger, Christoph Waltz, Mike Myers, Daniel Bruhl, Elii Roth, Melanie Laurent, Lawrence Bender, and Michael Fassbender.

Brad looks really cool and sexy in his crisp white suit and shades - I’m LOVING the look! He’s cited as wearing Tom Ford as usual, as well as a gray ascot around his neck.

Enjoy! There are a lot more photos of Brad Pitt at the Inglourious Basterds photocall below the cut!
(If you use Twitter, this is also a good day to make sure you’re following PittWatch over on Twitter so you’ll know when there are new updates!)
Brad Pitt on The Today Show in Cannes
May 20, 2009 by Sherry
Good morning PittWatch readers! It’s feeling like an Inglourious Basterds kind of day, don’t you think?
To kick-start the Cannes fun, here’s the video footage of Brad Pitt on the Today Show with Ann Curry. Brad describes the movie as “true Quentin Tarantino style” and “outrageous”, all of which sounds perfect to me!
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy
The way he describes Quentin Tarantino sounds like he’s an amazing director to work with. Ann also brought up the fact that the humanitarian Brad is nowhere to be seen in his character, that he’s ruthless, heartless so Brad explains a bit of how he created the character.
She asked him, too, if he’s worried about the violence factor creating controversy but Brad said he doesn’t mind and that he’s sure that Tarantino has done it right - he admitted he hasn’t seen the movie yet, tonight will be his first time. The work on the film only ended three months ago so it’s a stellar effort on Tarantino’s part that Inglourious Basterds is ready for Cannes.
What I love about Ann is that once they talked about the movie, she immediately talked about his placement on the Time 100 Most Influential People list and Brad’s work with Make It Right. She always seems to find time in her interviews to talk about that, and I’m glad she makes sure to highlight all the good he has done for New Orleans. She brought up the fact that he was listed under the builders rather than the entertainment category and he seemed a bit bashful and said that he was happy to feel like they gave him some kind of legitimacy. Brad said they should have 100 houses by the end of the year.
Ann listed some of his accomplishments, from the Time list to his recurring placement in the People most beautiful lists, his movie successes, his beautiful partner in Angelina Jolie - at which point he interrupted and laughed, “Okay, where are we going?” - and she asked him if he’s satisfied right now, what’s next for him. Brad mentioned having gotten to be home with the kids a lot lately and how rewarding that is.
He said that he’s continuing to find new interests, especially thanks to the kids, and that he’s “in the zone” now and one of the “most on track” times in his life. Then Brad started to get embarrassed and abruptly started talking about the movie again. Ann started laughing and pointed out that a lot of people don’t realize how humble he actually is and that he was actually blushing.
As for what’s next, Brad referenced to working this summer, which would be his upcoming film Moneyball. Ann told Brad that a lot of female viewers of the show were currently envious of her for getting to stand there and talk to him, and asked what he’d say to them, at which point he became bashful all over again and stammered out a thank you to the camera and then begged that they move on to a new topic now. So cute!
Brad had something really nice to say about Quentin Tarantino when Ann asked if he was trying to duplicate his success from 1994 when he won the Palme d’Or for Pulp Fiction. Brad said sure, the Cannes Film Festival is the “holy land for films” and it’s special to Tarantino, but he also pointed out that the man arrived early at Cannes and has been attending all the movie premieres, supporting everyone’s efforts and being there to absorb it all. That’s pretty cool.
Ann ended it by assuring Brad that his movie was great and he was wonderful in it. It’s funny that someone in the press has seen it before the major star!
Enjoy the video!
When you’re done, you can hop over to the Cannes page here. It’s a bit jumbled but over on the right are video clips and there’s one of Brad Pitt talking to more press people.
Busy day in Cannes, stay tuned for lots more!
