Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie snag Teen Choice Award nominations
June 17, 2009 by Sherry
Although they’re quite far past their own teenage years now, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie both received nominations for the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. The awards will air on FOX at 8 pm on August 10th.

Brad was nominated for the “Choice Movie Star: Drama” award for playing Benjamin Button. His competition is Hugh Jackman for Australia, Dev Patel for Slumdog Millionaire, Channing Tatum for Fighting, and Robert Pattinson for Twilight.
Angelina got her nomination for “Choice Movie Actress: Drama for her role in Changeling. She goes head-to-head with Nicole Kidman for Australia, Beyonce for Obsessed, Freida Pinto for Slumdog Millionaire. and Kristen Stewart for Twilight.
In all honesty, I don’t think they’re going to win. The award voting is open to teenagers (13-19) who can vote once per day online. That demographic is more than likely going to gravitate towards giving the award to Rob Pattinson and Kristin Stewart. Still, considering that it IS the Teen Choice Awards, I’m just really happy to see that they were nominated, especially Brad because I wouldn’t have thought of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button as being a movie that would be overly interesting to your average teenager.
What’s especially interesting though is that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are competing against each other too. Both of them are nominated for “Choice Celebrity Activist” which is amazing. I’m so thrilled that this is an award, I think it’s a great example for young people, no matter who wins. Brad and Angie are up against each other, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio, Hayden Panettiere, and Natalie Portman.
I admire all five of them for their activism but I would personally love to see Angelina win for her hard work with the UNHCR or have Brad win for his efforts with Make It Right after he stepped up and helped the people who had been so beaten down by Katrina.
If you’re a PittWatch reader between the ages of 13 and 19, please go to the Teen Choice Awards website and register to cast your vote, and keep voting daily.
Good luck Brad and Angelina!

Brad Pitt at Spike’s Guys Choice Awards in L.A.
May 31, 2009 by Sherry
In the comments the other day people were mentioning that there were rumors - though no photographic evidence - that Brad Pitt had flown to Los Angeles. Everyone was speculating what business he had in town, whether it was for pre-production work on Moneyball or something else. Instead it’s because last night Brad’s hit movie Fight Club was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Spike’s Guys Choice Awards!
How exciting to see Brad Pitt and Edward Norton together again! Those two had great acting chemistry and I know I would love to see them act in something in the future again too.
I’ll say one thing, Brad looks like he’s having a really good time!
While he was there, he also accepted the award that Angelina Jolie won for Femme Fatale. Femme fatale indeed, not many other actresses can pull it off quite as well as she can! Angie probably would have been there if she could have, but it’s the final week of filming for Salt coming up and she was already lucky enough to get time off for Cannes. Add in her recent on-set injury (People has reported that she suffered a mild concussion but was able to return to work the same day, what a trooper!) and there was definitely no time for her to go to the awards show.

Candid Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie moments
February 25, 2009 by Sherry

I love seeing photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the red carpet when they’re posing, but sometimes my favorite moments are the real ones, the candid moments where you get to see them truly enjoying themselves without always having to be aware of the cameras around them. For instance, the photo above when Brad and Angelina, ever drawn to kids, went over to speak to Tanay Hermant Chheda, one of the younger stars of Slumdog Millionaire who had been flown from Mumbai to attend the Oscars. It’s such a great slice of their life.
On that note, since Brad and Angelina are currently - thankfully, for them! - off the radar and hopefully getting a bit of rest in this post-award season, before Angelina starts filming Salt, here are some of my favorite candid Brad and Angelina moments at this year’s Oscar awards.
Oh that look. Whew!
I wish I knew what was going on here, it’s hard to tell when this was during a 3+ hour award show, but whatever happened, Brad was clearly very happy about it! Possibly either one of his friends just won something or it was after The Curious Case of Benjamin Button won one of the technical awards.
For all the people who somehow keep saying that Brad and Angelina - Angie in particular - are never really happy when other people win something, I can only say, “huh?!” and offer up this photo where they are obviously cheering someone on:
And possibly my top fave, amid all the action and noise, Brad and Angelina score a private moment:
Wonder what he was whispering to her!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Oscar Round-Up
February 23, 2009 by Sherry
Whew. Is anyone else as tired as I am after last night’s Oscar awards? I love watching them but just once in my life I’d love to see them actually wrap up by 11 pm for a change!

Here’s a quick round-up of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Oscars last night!
Over at Style Crunch are the fashion notes - as usual, Brad dressed in a Tom Ford tux (and looked really sexy if I may add!) and Angie’s strapless dress was by Elie Saab, a designer that she’s worn before.
The tabloids were ready to pounce with Jennifer Aniston presenting the animation award, and I’m sure they’ll find something to twist around, but as far as I was concerned, the whole thing was practically a non-event. Brad and Angie looked gorgeous, Jennifer looked gorgeous, she delivered her lines well (loved when she said they didn’t know why they had let Jack Black out of the house), she smiled at Brad and Angelina, and they were both laughing at the jokes. There was zero drama, I’m sure the triangle fans are disappointed.
Speaking of things for tabloids to jump on, People.com has a video clip up that will probably get people up in arms. In it, they asked Brad and Angelina what the six kids were doing at home while they were out on the red carpet. Brad replied, “Throwing spaghetti against the wall”.
How much do you want to bet that this will fuel outrage, with folks saying that the kids are out of control? Too bad not everyone recognizes Brad’s sense of humor and that he was probably joking or exaggerating that maybe some of the kids weren’t fond of their dinner that night.
And as we all predicted, even though neither won a major award (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button did win several technical awards, as I figured it would), the night for Brad and Angelina was more about having a good time than anything else - Angie said, “I like to think of it more as a date. We’re very comfortable tonight and just happy to be out and it’s a nice night.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie hit the Oscar red carpet in style
February 22, 2009 by Sherry

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have arrived at the 81st Academy Awards, walking the red carpet in style! Brad is looking very sexy in his tuxedo - probably Tom Ford! He looks rested and happy, a little bit of time off served him well!

Angelina looks gorgeous in her black strapless gown. It’s not the splash of color so many fans were hoping for but it looks amazing on her, nice and fitted and flared in all the right places! She did add a slice of color with her vivid green earrings - and no signs of the rumored $20 million necklace, not that she needs it to sparkle on the red carpet!

Angelina Jolie’s Oscar Acceptance in 2000 (video clip)
February 21, 2009 by Sherry
Just for fun, since the Academy Awards are tomorrow night, I thought I’d share a video clip of Angelina Jolie’s Oscar acceptance speech when she won for Best Supporting Actress in 2000 for her role in Girl, Interrupted.
Naturally there will always be people who will have something snarky to say about Angelina and James but I loved her speech. She was so genuinely surprised by her win and she was so full of emotion for everyone that it was a wonderful, natural, real thank you speech.
I do apologize for one thing, the audio is not properly synched to the video and frankly that drives me a little nuts, but it was the only one I could find right now. Hopefully we’ll get to see her do another acceptance speech on Sunday night, but if not, at least we know she did win that year and it was definitely well-deserved!
Countdown to the Oscars: Angelina Jolie Oscar Fashion over the years
February 17, 2009 by Sherry
As we all wonder what Angelina Jolie will be wearing on the Oscar red carpet this year, I wanted to peek back at three of her past looks for the Academy Awards.

No one could ever possibly forget Angelina’s black Oscar dress with the long, darker hair and the dramatic make-up. While many referred to her look as “gothic” - and usually in a negative way - I actually really loved this. Maybe it’s because of my own goth days, but I found it to be a very striking look. Of course, she ended up with the best accessory an actress can hope for when she won the award for Supporting Actress for her role as the very crazy Lisa in Girl, Interrupted.
(I had always liked Angelina very much, ever since I saw her in Hackers which was an otherwise fairly bad movie, but Girl, Interrupted was what sealed it for me. Until that time, Winona Ryder had been my favorite actress and was the main reason I wanted to see the movie. Angelina ended up blowing everyone out of the water and from that time she took over the spot as my #1 favorite actress, and she hasn’t budged since.)

In 2001, Angelina surprised people when she arrived on the red carpet showing that she had decided to pass on the traditional gowns, going for a feminine white tuxedo look instead. I’m not a huge fan of pantsuits on the red carpet since I love seeing actresses in dresses that they would otherwise not be wearing, but this was so nicely fitted and it really made her stand out from the crowd. Not my favorite, but still a good one.

When Angelina hit the red carpet in 2004, she looked like a goddess in a shiny, white, low-cut gown and I thought that she looked amazing. Her hair was done just enough to let us see her gorgeous face and her make-up but it still looked natural. I think of all three Oscar looks, the white dress is my favorite overall.
Which was your favorite? What color do you think or hope she’ll wear this year? As I already mentioned, I’m hoping for a dark jewel tone, but it won’t be much longer to wait and see!

Countdown to the Oscars with Brad and Angelina on the red carpet
February 16, 2009 by Sherry

Now that it’s Monday, we have less than one week until the Oscars ceremony! While that means lots of hope that Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie will win (or both of them!), it also means something else important - it means Brad & Angelina on the red carpet!
I know that some of you have been annoyed enough by the other awards this season, with neither Brad Pitt nor The Curious Case of Benjamin Button winning any major awards (BB has won some technical awards) that you’ve said you refuse to watch the Oscars. I can’t help it, I have to watch. I almost never miss the Oscars, I love them and even though I am often cursing them because they always run so late when I need to get up early the next morning, I stay up to see the whole thing. It’s a compulsion.
So what about you? Here’s a little poll for this Monday, something easy since it’s a holiday for the U.S. (President’s Day) and much of Canada (Family Day - alas, my province doesn’t observe the day). If you’re reading this post in a feed reader, please click through to vote in the poll.
Let me know if the comments why you voted the way you did. In the meantime, what do you suppose Brad and Angelina will wear on the red carpet? I’m positive we can expect Brad in a Tom Ford tux again (perhaps with a scarf again). Meanwhile, I’m hoping for a super-glamorous Old Hollywood gown for Angie, maybe in a dark jewel tone, like a forest green or a deep garnet red.
And speaking of red carpets, here’s just one more photo from the BAFTA awards - does she have a good, firm grip or what?
Woohoo!

Three more videos from the BAFTA Awards
February 9, 2009 by Sherry
I found three more videos to share with you from the BAFTA Awards show.
The first clip demonstrated that interviewing is not everyone’s best skill, but to be fair to the poor guy, it was raining, you get very little time to talk to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and there’s a lot of noise. Still, he sounded a little awkward and both Brad and Angie seemed a bit confused, especially when the guy thought that they wouldn’t be sticking around for the ceremony after Angelina said they were leaving that night. However, she did mention that they had taken Zahara and Shiloh for tea and scones to give them a nice British experience. They come in around 1:41.
The second interviewer wasn’t much better, to be honest, but it did have a very cute moment at the end when she asked each of them a question that had been sent in by school children. She asked Brad what the best way was to keep warm, and he put an arm around Angelina and said, “Grab your loved one!” to which the interviewer laughed and said the kid who asked the question was only six!
And you know, why do so many people ask the same question? You almost always hear every nominee being asked, “are you excited to be nominated, are you happy you were nominated?” etcetera. I mean really, that’s such a weird question. Do they think someone might say, “no, not really” or what?
In the final video clip, it’s actually inside the ceremony and while Mick Jagger is presenting an award, he makes a cute joke about how he’s hoping that Brad Pitt and his entire family will perform “The Sound of Music”. I loved how Brad and Angelina both laughed!
(I also giggled at the image of Dame Judi Dench trashing a hotel room in New York City!)
Thanks to Sal and nlkjnhlj for the video links!
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s BAFTA style
February 9, 2009 by Sherry

As always, I like to find the style notes behind Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s fashion choices for red carpet events, and I have managed to dig up the info for you!
The short version is that, as always, Brad wore Tom Ford for his tux. Meanwhile, Angelina’s daring dress was by Armani Prive.

Here are my thoughts on what Brad and Angelina wore for the red carpet. I really, definitely like Brad in a tux. Tuxedos tend to always look good on just about everyone and he’s no exception. That being said though, I have to admit that I prefer the pinstripe suit that he wore recently. I don’t know what it was about that particular suit, but he looked incredible in it.
As for Angelina I still stick by my original assessment - I think she look absolutely amazing. What I like about the dress is that it stayed true to her love of black clothing, yet it gave a nice surprise of super-vivid color with the yellow slash down the front. Also, it was fitted just enough to be sexy without being obscene. It was just perfect. I have to get a cocktail dress fo ra black-tie wedding next month and I wish I could just wear what Angie did!
What are your opinions on what Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie wore on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards? Do you like the tux or prefer the suits? Do you wish Brad would wear someone different and daring for a change? Angelina has had a lot of very different looks lately between all the award shows and movie premieres - which has been your favorite? Do you love the Armani or did you prefer one of her looser dresses?
Oh and by the way - this time? We got the Angelina Jolie maneuver instead:

Woo!
Let’s hear it fashionistas!
