Hope For Haiti Now raises record-breaking funds

Time for some important news instead of the crazy rumor mill fodder!

On Friday night Brad Pitt took part in the “Hope For Haiti Now” fundraiser that was essentially organized by George Clooney. If you missed the telethon (which was absolutely wonderful by the way, and which had me sobbing for two straight hours), you can see Brad’s speech right over here. The story that he told about a musician in Jacmel was beautiful and touching.
News has been released that Hope For Haiti Now has broken records by raising a staggering $57 million, a number that is still steadily climbing thanks …read more

Brad Pitt’s commentary at the Hope For Haiti Now telethon

While I didn’t see Brad Pitt answering phones at the Hope For Haiti Now telethon – there were so many celebrities and athletes there that you couldn’t possibly see them all – he also delivered a speech in front of the cameras which was very moving.

(That photo is not from tonight, I will see if I can find one later.)
He talked about another Haitian city, Jacmel, which is south of Port-Au-Prince, and was also hit very hard by the earthquake. Brad told the story of a musician who stood in the middle of the road, destroyed buildings around him, and …read more

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie make it a Merry Christmas for American SOS Children’s Villages

I’m pretty sure that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie created a wonderful Christmas for their children. After all, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne are very lucky to live where they do and with the parents they have because not only do they have good health (something that Maddox, Pax, and Zahara weren’t guaranteed before they were adopted), they most certainly had many things they wanted sitting under a Christmas tree.

However, because they know that not everyone can have a good Christmas, Brad and Angelina donated $100,000 to the American SOS Children’s Villages. SOS works with orphaned children …read more

Video clips of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball

Video clips of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball

Thanks to a heads’ up from some PittWatch readers I was able to find two video clips with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball.
In this first video, we don’t actually see much of Angelina or Brad, although we get a nice little clip of George Clooney. I also love that someone as young as Selena Gomez was at the ball because it’s reassuring to see younger celebrities who are practically still kids showing an interest in charities.
Of course, the second video is what has Brad and Angelina fans buzzing, showing a sweet and affectionate moment …read more

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated more than $6 million in 2008

We already knew they’re generous with time and money when it comes to charitable causes, but Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie walk the walk when it comes to donating.

According to their tax return for the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, in 2008 Brad and Angelina gave $6.4 million to charity in their joint efforts. If I’m not misunderstanding, that doesn’t include their own individual donations to various causes, just the ones the worked on together.
They gave $2 million to Global Health, $1 million to Human Rights Watch, $1 million to the Make It Right Foundation, and $1 million to …read more

Are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie among the 20 “Celebs Gone Good”?

Are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie among the 20 “Celebs Gone Good”?

There are often polls all over magazines and blogs to vote for the most beautiful actress or the hottest actor, and those are fun but when it all comes down to it, it’s just superficial. There’s a new poll you can vote in that has some more substance to it. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are on the list for the 20 Celebs Gone Good.

The poll was put together by DoSomething.org, a website dedicated to getting people to, well, do something to make a difference. Whether it’s donating to charities or getting involved in activism to help …read more

Angelina Jolie and Maddox are in Jordan

Angelina Jolie and Maddox are in Jordan

The question from yesterday has been answered – Angelina Jolie and Maddox left Los Angeles and went to Amman, Jordan. The reason for their flight is in part due to this lovely lady:

Angelina and Maddox will be staying with her, Queen Noor of Jordan; they’re both quite good friends. That’s pretty impressive when you can say one of your close friends is a queen.
Both Angie and Queen Noor share a common love of charity and activism. Angelina is in Jordan to attend the 24th Annual Arab Children’s Congress. Not only has Angelina supported the …read more

Your chance to support the UNHCR like Angelina Jolie

For the PittWatch readers who have been around here since this time in 2007, you’ll remember this.
As you all know, I’ve been writing here at PittWatch for awhile now. This isn’t my first foray into blogging though – I also write my own personal blog titled Chaos Theory. Over there I write about my own family life with a little of this and a little of that thrown in.

If you’ve followed blogs for awhile, you may have heard of The Blogathon. You can find out info at that link, but the short version is, bloggers who are potentially a …read more

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donate $1million to help refugees

With World Refugee Day 2009 just around the corner (this coming Saturday – June 20th), it’s excellent news to hear that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million to help refugees. The funds which came from their Jolie-Pitt Foundation will help refugees in Pakistan.

The head of the UN Agency said that the situation right now in Pakistan is “the most challenging humanitarian crisis of the past decade.” There are over two million displaced people in the country at the moment.
First it was a million dollars to help children with cancer, now a million dollars …read more
