Brad Pitt gets picked up by the paparazzi!

July 2, 2009 by Sherry

I guess there is one decent advantage of having the paparazzi follow you around 24/7 because if you’re Brad Pitt with a broken-down motorcycle it means someone’s always around to give you a hand and you don’t even have to sit around while you wait for AAA to come pick you up.

Today in Los Angeles, Brad Pitt was out riding when his motorcycle completely crapped out on him, which might have left him stranded except that - as usual - paparazzi were tailing him and offered him a rid home. Brad took them up on the offer!

Now see, that’s just nice and kind of cute!

Brad Pitt’s new Softbank commercial!

July 2, 2009 by Sherry

Remember back when we spotted Brad Pitt working with a sumo wrestler in New York, filming some sort of commercial for Japanese cell phone company Softbank?

Well, the commercial’s aired! Check it out below!

Edit: the first one was pulled five minutes after I posted! Let’s try this one now!

I love the way he so nonchalantly picks up that wrestler and carries him so his feet don’t get wet!

What do you think of this ad?

Brad Pitt stops traffic in Russia - literally!

June 12, 2009 by Sherry

This is possibly one of the funniest stories that I’ve read in quite some time so I had to share it with all of you. Brad Pitt has been stopping traffic in Russia lately, and that’s meant literally. Police in the city of Omsk (Siberia) have been managing speeding traffic by using life-sized cardboard cut-outs of Brad Pitt as a deputy officer, so to speak!

sipaphotostwo412834-usa-film-inglou

The Russian traffic cops have been placing the cut-out of Brad dressed in a police uniform in some of the busiest intersections where speeding and car accidents were becoming a problem. They said that the diversion is working because the cars tend to slow down as the star-struck drivers spot Brad standing on the corner.

I’m glad it’s working because it could have completely backfired - imagine a bunch of cars driving right off the road because they’re too busy looking at “Brad Pitt“?!

This story gave me such a good laugh. You can see some video footage of “Brad” working as a traffic cop over on this site - both the article and the video are in Russian but you can watch and see them setting the cut-out of Brad in the intersection. Meanwhile, this site has the story in English.

Isn’t that hilarious?!

(The image I used has nothing to do with the story of course, it’s a still from Inglourious Basterds but I just wanted to use it because my goodness, it’s an amazing shot!)

Friday Flashback: The first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club

June 5, 2009 by Sherry

It’s been awhile since we’ve done a Friday Flashback video at PittWatch but since Brad Pitt just accepted an award at the Spike’s Guys Choice Awards for Fight Club being inducted into the hall of fame, I thought it would be appropriate to remember the movie courtesy of a couple of clips.

This video is a one-minute mash-up tribute, to the point and excellent, it covers the eight rules of Fight Club.

Discussion Post: Brad Pitt roasting Mel Gibson

June 2, 2009 by Sherry

Okay PittWatch people. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a good discussion post, let’s open one up now. This idea comes courtesy of a local radio host who was talking about Brad Pitt at the Spike’s Guys Choice Awards over the weekend. The host wondered if people would think that Brad went a bit too far when he roasted Mel Gibson at the ceremony.

For those of you who are still unaware, Brad Pitt made fun of Mel Gibson’s DUI arrest in 2006 - when Mel presented Brad with the award, Brad stepped to the microphone, turned to Mel and said, “Thanks Sugartits!”

“Sugartits” is what Mel Gibson called the female cop who arrested him back then. Here’s a clip:

For the sake of clarity, the host didn’t state himself whether he thought this was crossing a line or not, he just threw it out there. I didn’t listen long enough to see if anyone called in with thoughts, but I wondered what you thought.

Angelina Jolie spoof on Saturday Night Live

February 1, 2009 by Sherry

There was a brief Angelina Jolie spoof last night on Saturday Night Live. I have heard through the grapevine that some Angelina fans are offended, but I’m not. It’s SNL after all - they’re equal opportunity mockers, they make fun of everyone so I didn’t mind. It was kind of funny, to be honest.

I can’t even see the video clip because NBC.com won’t allow me to see it since I’m outside of the U.S. (or rather, it’s the other way around, Canada’s laws don’t allow me to see things that are streamed or replayed from U.S. networks, it’s incredibly annoying let me tell you) so it’s possible that not everyone will be able to watch it.

If the video gives you the big “isn’t available from your location” warning, the gist of it is that SNL’s newest cast member, Abby Elliott did an impersonation of Angelina Jolie during the show’s “Weekend News Update. The transcript is as follows:

Seth Meyers: It was revealed on Thursday that the California woman who gave birth to octuplets already has six other children. What? Angelina Jolie? What, what are you doing here?

Angelina Jolie: I heard someone had eight babies…does she want all of them?

SM: Yeah… I mean, I think she does, yes.

AJ: Where’s [your co-host Amy Poehler]?

SM: Oh, she left.

AJ: Did she take her baby with her?

SM: Yeah, she did.

AJ: Too bad, I could always use a new baby.

SM: So, um, are you excited about the Oscars?

AJ: Bye.

Seriously. I really was amused. Were you?

Dustin Hoffman talks about Brad Pitt’s anatomy with Jimmy Kimmel

January 19, 2009 by Sherry

I love celebrities who are funny off-screen. Dustin Hoffman is one of my favorite actors and I have so much respect for him but he can also make me laugh so hard when he’s just being himself.

In order to promote his new film Last Chance Harvey, Dustin was doing the talk show rounds. At one point he peered into the audience, declared that they were mostly baby boomers, and worried they might not want to see the movie. That’s when he decided to throw out Brad Pitt’s name - and anatomy in the hopes that a little lie about Brad having a naked cameo in the film would entice people to flock to the theaters. I couldn’t stop laughing, and Jimmy Kimmel was really quick to pick up on it and run with it too.

The Brad Pitt mention happens right near the end, after the eight-minute mark if you want to fast forward. The whole clip is pretty darn funny though if you like Dustin Hoffman - aside from the Brad joke, my favorite part was his story about how people always mistake him for Al Pacino.

In other Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie news, they’re still managing to lay low. They had slipped off to Berlin so Brad could finish filming some more scenes for Inglourious Basterds (which means his lovely goatee is probably gone and the moustache is back again), and they haven’t been seen since. While I miss seeing them, I’m glad that they’re managing to get so much quiet time and privacy lately. Hopefully we’ll be seeing them on the red carpet for the BAFTA Awards since they’re not very far away right now!

Brad Pitt and George Clooney - the Bromance

65th Venice Film Festival: Opening Ceremony & Burn After Reading Premiere - Arrivals

I know how we all feel about some of the stories that come out of US Weekly magazine. But I also know how I happen to feel about Brad Pitt and George Clooney. I laughed the first time I heard someone refer to their friendship as a “bromance”.

So when I saw that US Weekly had done a photo spread of the Brad Pitt & George Clooney “Bromance” I had no choice but to share it with you.

Check it out here. Enjoy!

Brad Pitt Puts Up With George Clooney’s Teasing

This is just funny. As we all know, Brad Pitt and George Clooney are good friends off the set and not only that, one of their favorite things to do is to tease each other and make fun of each other.

People.com has a cute little post about how George Clooney loves to remind Brad Pitt that he has an Oscar - and that poor Brad does not.

In fact, the 46-year old admits he often lords his big win over Oscar-less pal Brad Pitt.

“That’s what I enjoy doing with Brad – is gloating,” Clooney joked.

This part also made me laugh, when he mentioned his award:

“I keep it back over a fireplace in my house,” he said. “When my friends come over, I make them pick it up and we take photographs of them giving an acceptance speech.”

Sometimes those two aren’t just friends, sometimes they sound like brothers!

(Thanks Kim!)

Brad Pitt and American Idol

February 28, 2008 by Sherry

If you’re an American Idol fan, you might remember that last year they did a special benefit show called American Idol Gives Back wherein they raised money for starving and underprivileged children in the U.S. and Africa. Tonight, on the show, Ryan Seacrest announced they’re doing another benefit show this season.

As they showed flashback clips to last year’s event, I found myself thinking how great it would be in Brad Pitt and/or Angelina Jolie took part in the Idol benefit.

After the commercial break, Ryan spilled the beans, announcing some of the big names that would be taking part this year - and yes! Brad Pitt will indeed be involved in American Idol Gives Back this year on April 9th. Knowing how important New Orleans is to him, I imagine that he will focus on that.

Mark your calendar and set your Tivo - don’t miss Brad Pitt on American Idol Gives Back!
