Clinton Global Initiative videos
I have been passed along the YouTube videos of both Brad and Angelina at the Clinton Global Initiative. Unfortunately, I can’t embed them directly here because they were put up by the Clinton Foundation and they prefer you to come see it directly.
Here are the links!
Brad Pitt discusses Energy & Climate right here.
Angelina Jolie makes emotional plea for refugees over here.
Enjoy!

Sherry, Thank you for posting those links. This is the reason I come to this site.
Put aside for a moment the fact that AJ and BP are gorgeous and all the events that led up to them becoming the most pop culture couple today, I know that what makes me admire both of them is their unrelenting humanitarian side. I know they’ve been unjustly criticized for being playing the media - especially after they sold the rights to Shiloh’s pix (for charitable reasons only, mind you). The criticism bugs me because I’m willing to bet most of it comes from people who have done zero to help other people.
Here’s my take: Both of them know they will be pursued, hunted by the paparazzi anyway. so instead of playing victims, they’ve learned to use their fame to advance the causes they believe in. I say that’s smart.
Their commitment isn’t fake, because it takes an immense amount of energy and devotion to stay focused on these causes, be very educated about them to be carry on a conversation with policy wonks. To hear former Secretary of State Colin Powell say that AJ is well-informed is statement enough.
A few days ago, I read an older story from March 2007 about AJ in the MSNBC/Newsweek site. There was a haunting photo of AJ embracing a thin child, most likely a refugee in Darfur, and you could see the pain and sadness in her face. In the interview, she said she cried for two years when she saw all the suffering in many parts of the world. But she needed to move beyond shedding tears and see if there was something she could do. And there was.
One more thing. It ticks me off when people criticize Brad for being a Johnny-come-lately or someone who is hanging on to Angelina’s humanitarian coattails. My take: The reason he is with her is he has found a partner who shares his goals in life. That she happens to be drop dead beautiful and sexy is just the icing on the cake. I think that he has evolved as a man and realized there must be more to his life than being a glamorous actor and star. AJ probably came at a time in his life when that search for self was taking place.
It doesn’t mean he stops his passion for architecture or that becomes irrelevant. Instead, he finds a way to combine his love for architecture with efforts to help many others - his green housing initiative in New Orleans is the result of that.
OK, I feel better having gotten that off my chest. I’ll get off my soapbox now.

No one could say that Ange was playing a part when she spoke about these two people. You could see when she first started talking she was very nervous. This was not a movie star playing a part, this is a women who really really cares about other people and how they are suffering. And Brad always had good intentions but now with Angelina he is working to help others also. They are good people. And they raise children, no matter how many, to be good caring people. Look at Princes William and Harry, their mother cared and so do they.
Angelina has said many times that she doesn’t want to be remembered as a movie star, but as some one who does good works for the less fortunate. And in my book that is what the Jolie-Pitts are all about. The movies pay for them to be able to do these other good things and to set their children up for life. God Bless them both and let others who have the means do the same.

o,boy. AJ’s stoy of the two refugees brought tears to my eyes. Never thought it was possible for me to feel more empathy towards the poor and downtrodeen but now I want to find this kind of kids out and help them in anyway I can.

Brad is still not a good communicator at least in these venues. He should have written his speech out and read to make the most impact. Not everyone can touch the audience on spontaneous speaking.

Can you attend to the awaiting moderation list? My two posts go together and the first one is in the moderation list since Friday morning. The second one is appearing above and sounds a bit abrupt without the first one.

So many people pass judgment on Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt every day, based on stories about them, and photographs put into the tabloids.
To see her live, and speaking about something that she feels so passionately about, to see the compassion, and the tears in her eyes as she discusses some of the things that she has seen first hand, and to see her out on the front line, speaking to initiatives like this, forcing their voices and stories to be heard…
It’s just so hard to understand how some people can just bypass all of that information, all of the issues, all of her compassion and her giving spirit, and judge her by her parenting methods or who her partner is, and who his partner was, etc…
These issues need to be discussed, and we MUST to come together as a nation to help others in a time of greatest need. I am so thankful that someone as high-profile as Angelina Jolie, is taking this issues into consideration, into her heart, her body and her soul. It is just wonderful to see celebrities putting their time and their money, and their publicity to such a GREAT use.

Thanks for Brad & Ange, the world starts to pay attention to the world refugees, poverty, hunger & so on. They used their celebrity status in a positive ways. They became more admired & loved by fans all over the world because of their humanitarian effort. They are good role model.
