Delay for Wanted release
Angelina Jolie fans will have to wait a bit longer than expected to see her new film Wanted. The release date was initially set for March but now we’ll have to hold on until June. The delay is not because of problems. It’s actually because now that they’re really looking at the final edits, Universal Pictures feels that it’s strong enough to go head to head with Valkyrie, Tom Cruise’s highly anticipated Nazi film.
Nikki Rocco, Universal Pictures’ President of Distribution, said: “After an early look at Wanted, we are certain that it fulfills its promise as a stunning, committed, thrilling, eye-popping vision that introduces a bold new narrative. We believe it can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the event titles of the summer and will give audiences a chance to discover a fresh new alternative. We are excited to date the film on June 27.”
While I’m disappointed that I have to wait an additional three months to see a movie I’m already so eager to see, I’m glad to know that it’s such a strong box office contender! While I’m interested in Valkyrie as well, I know that I would definitely go see Wanted on opening night instead!

though I’m a bit disappointed that they moved the play date of “Wanted” to June 27 at least we know that Ange’s movie is a heavy contender for a box office hit during Summer. I am definitely be watching it. JJ have their pictures taken last night in Las Vegas. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

I am happy that it has been delayed as summer is a great time to release an action movie like this. It should do great in that market.

thanks irma, i just saw the photos you were telling on jj. my favorite would have to be the celebrity boxing match 13 - were angie’s arm is in brad’s shoulder while brad’s arm rested on her hips (i guess).
what a sweet couple. :)

It’s pity but I don’t think they should have delayed it that far, maybe to Easter for the kids holidays.
Why is everyone so sure this movie will be a BO smash for TC? Like Brad, It’s not the type of film his fans like to see him in. Or am I wrong? How did the Last Sumurai or Vanilla Sky do?

BlessBrangelina, to find any movie’s box office record: go to boxofficemojo.com or imdb.com (look to the left column and find “box” under “other info”).
What’s TC?

Even though I’ll wait an extra 3 months, I’m very happy Wanted, starring Angie (but not Brad), will be released June 27. Why? It means the studio is very confident that Wanted will do well, that it can compete against the other big summer blockbusters. (The studio knows Wanted will do well because it has test screenings ID’ing different demographics’ response.)
Memorial Day is the kickoff to summer movies, which for the most part are huge, event, “tentpole” movies + popcorn, mindless entertainment movies = action, comedy, comic book, fantasy a la Bond, Spidey, Shrek, LOTR, Harry Potter, Pirates, Batman, Superman, Star Wars, Star Trek, Bourne, Indiana Jones, etc.
Wanted is an action movie and it’ll fit in well in summer. If it was a drama, it’d fit more into fall/winter when serious, darker, awards-bait dramas/dramedies are presented.

@BlessBrangelina,
I personally think this movie is going to be a big smash because from the trailer it looks really intense and awesome.
Plus I have a feeling the tabloids will be making up stories about the two lead that will lead more to go watch it. Sort of like Mr. & Mrs. Smith except we all know nothing is going on between the two lead.
