Did Brad Pitt buy a new eco home in the UK?

April 26, 2008 by Sherry

There are always rumors about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie every time you turn around. As we well know, not all of them are nice rumors either. But this is the kind of “maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not” story that I like.

There’s some speculation that Brad Pitt bought a new eco home over in the UK. The house, sold for $14 million and change, is in Cotswold, England it the design is really nice and unique. It includes a heat pump underground, geothermal heating/cooling, and both solar and wind power. Apparently the house is made in such a way that it will actually produce more energy than it uses itself.

It definitely sounds like the kind of house that Brad Pitt would be all over, what with the energy efficient homes he’s hoping for in New Orleans. The buyer is currently anonymous, but the speculation is based on the fact that Brad looked at the plans for the house and the buyer is connected to the entertainment industry.

Check it out. What do you think of it? I think it looks like a great design and it’s definitely believable that Brad would be interested in it.

if you look at Cotswold on google earth its farm land.

perhaps Brad is going to be a gentleman farmer?

I must say the area is very pretty, would be a great place to bring up the kids.

  2. fan says:

It would be a great place for their children to grow up in, especially with another little one on the way, angie especially loves the english countryside.

  3. Passerby says:

The house looks awesome!!! Its very unique looking and the it being a eco home makes it even kooLer. I would love to live in a house like that.

    Hope rumor is true. =]

  4. Children First says:

Back in2005 or 2006 I saw a report saying that Angie had sold the house in the English countryside, where the pics of Brad and Maddox riding on the bike were taken. Does anyone know if Angie still owns that house?

I think it would be a good idea to have a home base in England for when they travel to Europe.

  5. isacutie says:

That’s an interesting looking house. If this is true, then it’s probably a good thing for them. It’s a good thing that they have the resources to be able to choose where to spend their time, and living in the countryside gives some sense of freedom of movement, peace and relaxation, which I’m sure the JPs need so badly. I’m one of those people who think living in the countryside is much better than living in the city, and it’s just unfortunate for me that I have to live in Manila because that’s where the jobs are.

  6. irma says:

I think they both love living in the country side , it is more peaceful & quiet & the best place to raise your kids. Could this mean, Angie may have deliver her new baby in the UK if it’s true?
    God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
Hi isacutie, you are ‘kababayan” but I am based here in the States. How bad is the rice shortage in the Phil?

  7. BlessBrangelina says:

The Cotswalds is a beautiful area in UK, it is a popular holiday destination because it has lots of woodland/forests as well as pretty villages. It’s popularity has made it very expensive.

    * “smplyjenn”. Yes there are farms but that’s not all it is.

I don’t know if the story is true, people like to add their name to everything. Last year didn’t some newspaper report they bought a custom made Island in Dubai??? That wasn’t true. I don’t think they as ‘extravagant’ as tabs make them out to be.

**Children First, she sold it whilst they were in France. She said she was coming back to US because that was where Brad’s work was and hence his home…something along those lines anyway.

  8. Bee says:

The design is unique. Would be a nice place to live.
But from time to time there it seems like there must come a roumer about them moving to somewhere or buying a house. Wasnt it just last year that some said they bought a vineyard in France…. ;) So its probably not true but well see… I think Angie liked UK in the time she lived there.

  9. isacutie says:

Hi Irma and all the JP fans. That interesting looking house has grown on me. At first I thought it was a bit weird, but now I really like it.

(Off topic) Irma, I don’t think it’s really a rice shortage or crisis so much as it is a price crisis. Prices have been going up, but I think quite a few traders are keeping their stocks. Many of us believe that the government (or the president) is just highlighting the rice crisis in order to veer interest away from the other scandal, which is the NBN-ZTE deal that appears to implicate the first family.

  10. irma says:

I will check out the place in google later, just wondering how it looks like. It maybe true or not, I know both of them don’t want to spend too much money nor they are extravagant like other HW stars. They need another house outside the States to call home when they are overseas. Angie loves France & UK.
Off topic isacutie, rice prices went up overnight in the Asian store, the 25lbs bag of rice used to be $14.99 now costs $ 37.00 & $42.00. I am not in a panic mode, I still have extra bag of rice in my garage, prices are ridiculous. I can eat corn & potato if I have to substitute them for rice.

  11. Carrie says:

What part of Canada are you from, Sherry? If you don’t mind me asking :)

  12. Carrie says:

This isn’t about the house, but I have two questions:

When do we think Angie is due? Are we thinking she’ll leave the country?
Have we dismissed the twins idea?

“WE” being us respectable, non-speculation, fans.

  13. Lucy says:

I think Angie is not having twins and most probably will have the baby in France. (Just my opinion) I am forecasting the early week of August 8/8/08.
Isacutie - I did not realize you live in Manila. I was just there March 21 thru March 29. I love shopping at Greenhills.

  14. Children First says:

Thank you for the information **BlessBrangelina. I had hoped that she was still hanging on to it since I remember her saying that it was Maddox’s home.

They were able to blend in and be “real” there without the media attention. I guess I just like the idea of her having a home base there.

I have no idea where they may choose to have the baby(ies). They really have the world at their disposal! So my guess that it will simply fit into their existing plans for the next few months: Cannes (Europe) NOLA, France, Scotland, India, Canada….take your pick! :)

  15. isacutie says:

I too wonder where Angie might be giving birth. Sometimes I think perhaps outside the US to continue the tradition of having their kids born from different parts of the world, but sometimes, I think they might stick to the US this time around. Oh well, wherever she gives birth, I just wish a safe delivery of a very healthy baby (or babies). It’s exciting to kind of countdown, although we have no idea when she’s really due.

Offtopic: Irma, wow even there the price of rice have jacked up? I think there is really some sort of a rice crisis, as there are other countries in this region like Malaysia that is also experiencing some problems, and I think there is some sort of a global food problem, but here a home, I really think it’s more of a price and distribution problem. Is the rice that you buy coming from the Phils or Thailand? I remember when I was living in the States, the rice we were buying all came from Thailand as there were none available in the store from the Philippines. I think though that the demand for Thai and Vietnamese rice have gone up in the world market as well so that might explain the much higher prices you’ve got. Good thing you’ve got alternatives. Oh well, I hope things will get better sooner than later.

  16. Mary Ann says:

My husband doesn’t feel like he has eaten if he doesn’t have rice (and beans). He was born in Puerto Rico and he eats it 7 days a week. I get tired of it so I have it maybe once a week. Forgot to ask my daughter how much she paid for a 5 lb bag of Goya medium grain rice when she did the shopping. This is what we use. So I was teasing him and telling him that maybe after cooking rice for the last 48 years for him I will be getting a break. I also am waiting to see where the Jolie-Pitts will settle down and wait for the baby/babies. I don’t think it is twins. But I would be real excited if it turned out to be more than one.

  17. irma says:

I have a feeling that they will have the baby/babies abroad. For safety reason, you know how sought they are as a couple & as a family in the States. If at the last minute they decided to have the baby born in the States, possibly it will be NOLA. I know how NOLA is very closed to their hearts.
isacutie, Mary Ann: it’s good to have alternatives from eating rice but for me without rice the whole day is torture, I get hungry easily if I don’t eat rice in a day.
Mostly our rice available in Oriental stores are fromThailand & Japan. I plan to put some rice to my balikbayan box going to the Phil. I heard one kaban of rice in PI is now 2000 Pesos, is it true?
GTG. Thanks Sherry for letting us discussed some new issues. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

  18. Sherry says:

Carrie - I’m a Montrealer. If you hear screaming tomorrow night it’s because I’m watching the hockey game, pay no attention. :)

  19. Sherry says:

Irma - I love when the comments branch off into other stuff, it’s fun! I get to learn so much about the people who read here.

I was at the grocery store today but I forgot to look at the price of rice - I didn’t need to buy any this time. I did hear on the news though that the price rise is trickling to everywhere in the world, it’s more expensive everywhere. It’s so sad to see the chaos in other countries. I saw some footage of fighting in the streets in Haiti and it’s just awful to think that there’s so much hunger in the world.

  20. isacutie says:

Thanks, Sherry, sometimes I wonder if it bothers you that we sometimes go offtopic. Anyway, this global food crisis is something that needs our attention too, although perhaps in another venue/another way.

Irma/Mary-Ann, I’m one of those people who really needs to have rice at least twice a day (I often have it breakfast, lunch, and dinner :-)), and our rice expenses have been going up quite fast. Your price is just about right, Irma. Although the government has been selling rice at much cheaper prices (around P18-20/kg).

Lucy, next to Divisoria, Greenhills is really good for shopping, and the nice thing is they’ve got practically everything there. I think I remember you saying that you were visiting here with your son. I hope you both had a lot of fun.

  21. Passerby says:

I hope Angie gives birth in Europe. Europe is such a romantic place. Well I think that, maybe its because I’m American or something.

Rice topic- The rice is increasing alot!!! My mom says its because people are over stocking up (we bought ten bags before the price went up) making stores run out of rice so they therefore have to raise their prices to keep rice in stock. I think she’s wrong though.

Gas prices are also up too!!! Like 3 50 now or is it just Massachusetts.

  22. Sherry says:

isacutie - for breakfast?! I love rice but I don’t think I’ve ever had it for breakfast.

Our gas is crazy here too. Today it was $1.33 (Canadian) per liter. I’m not sure what that equals in US dollars but it’s HIGH for us. I remember not that long ago it was under a dollar.

  23. Passerby says:

Sherry for breakfast my parents and a lot of asians like rice soup or whatever its called. Its like rice with water or something. All I know is that when I was in china they ate it every single morning. And I just hate it. It’s plain and disgusting. I eat rice twice a day. And I’m pretty sure the rice my family buys is from thailand.

Gas prices in Mass, USA is like $3.50(USA) a gallon. It use to be under $3. Sorry for not being specific. I forget we’re not all from the same place. Sorry.

  24. isacutie says:

Sherry, yep, I do have rice for breakfast most days. Some days, I have bread, but generally, I prefer rice. Many Filipinos have rice for breakfast.

As for gas prices, it’s been going up almost every other week here as well. It’s now about USD 1.15/liter. For us, that is quite high because minimum daily wage here is about USD 8.30.

  25. ligaya says:

OT - Yes, rice for breakfast/lunch/dinner for Filipinos in/from the old country. There’s a rice porridge called lugao, sometimes fried rice, or steamed rice to accompany other breakfast foods. Rice = bread for other peoples.

  26. ligaya says:

Well, that building is certainly unusual - love that it’s environmentally green. I’d have to see it for real before I could decide if I liked it. Brad is certainly a forward-looking man when it comes to architecture - so he may like it if there’s any truth to the rumor. I wonder what Angelina’s taste in architecture is, or if she defers to Brad in this matter.

  27. Mary Ann says:

Irma, my husband feels the same way. He says that rice is more filling than even pasta. When we were younger sometimes he would have it for breakfast with two fried eggs on top.

  28. Mrs. Lopez says:

I have alway’s been a fan of brad pitt, yes i was upset when jeniffer aniston broke up with my honey, but i really truly wish you both good luck with your family. I wish you very happiness with your twins and all your babie’s…. love alway’s a friend when you need it!!!!!!!!!!!! my name is EMILY
