Great View On Angelina Jolie’s Trip to Iraq

February 18, 2008 by Sherry

As was probably to be expected, shortly after Angelina Jolie went on her trip to visit Iraq, stories began popping up in the tabloids – print and online – saying that it was a shameless photo op, that she was a reckless woman for endangering the lives of her unborn twins (which are still only speculation and not confirmed in any way – we don’t even have confirmation of ONE baby yet), and on and on ad nauseum. Are we really surprised? No, of course not. People who choose to paint her in a negative light will always continue to do so, no matter what. If she walked up to a naysayer and handed over her entire fortune AND Brad Pitt, they’d still hate her.

However, luckily for the fans, not everyone is so narrow-minded. There are still people who know that there is nothing reckless about the way Angelina Jolie approaches life anymore and that those wild child days are in the past. There are people who know that people don’t go to the middle of a major war zone for the sake of a photo op. And one of those people wrote a great post right here about not only Angelina Jolie’s visit to Iraq, but also Scarlett Johansson’s visit to American troops and Kellie Pickler’s part in a USO tour. It’s worth a read for sure, here’s a snippet:

At the beginning of this month, Angelina Jolie visited Iraq for the second time, and met with our troops, with Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, and U.S. General David Petraeus, as well as top Iraqi migration officials.

She spoke of nearly 2 million “internally displaced” Iraqi civilians, 58% of whom are children under the age of 12. CNN followed it up by asking her if she was pregnant.

I’m glad not everyone is blinded and that some of us can see the good that people like Angelina are trying to do in the world.

first…and its my first time to post…hi everyone ! just wanted to say that angelina was probably sick as a dog on her trip to iraq if she is at the begining of a pregnancy…she could have found a lot easier ways to get her picture in the papers if thats all shes interested in. shame that even cnn had to lower the tone and ignore the real issues she was trying to bring attention to…she must get so frustrated…good for her that she doesnt give up..she is amazing.

Wow U Go Sherry!!! I Dont Get Mad At The Haters. They Have Nothing Good Going In Their Lives So They Hate On Those Doing Good, Otherwise What Else Would Haters Do With Their Miserable Time? Keep Up The Good Work Honey LOVE This Site :)

It’s such a shame that people are so narrow minded that they cannot focus on the good works that Angelina does across the globe, and instead have to put their energy into speculation.

God Bless her and all she does!

i love her. she is a so beautiful woman, a great person, a good mom and a gorgeous actress. i wish one day i could help the other people as much as she does (at my level naturally…).

does someone here have adopted children? you know, i feel the need to adopt later (cause i’m only 19) and i want to know more about this beautiful experience…

good evening everybody (yes, it’s already 22h18 in belgium at this moment…)

Like you said Sherry, the tabs will print anything, and for some reason some of them just want to print negative things about Angie and Brad and sometimes even the kids. As I’ve said many times, I commend Angie and Brad for actually doing something about what they believe in rather than just talking about it. I wish there were more people like them. Heck I wish I was more like them, because given the same situation, I’m probably going to be too cowardly to do something.

U Go Sherry!!! The Haters Hate Cuz Their Lives Are Miserable And Jealousy Is An Easy Emotion 2 Attain. And May I Please Point Out Had Brad Been There Instead Of Angie No One Would Have Called Him Reckless 4 Being With The Troops

I used to buy US, Life & Style, OK, a few years ago because of the photos. I quit buying them when they started getting too negative especially to Angie. She deserves better journalism. I am glad she is keeping her cool with all the trashy publicity.

I think people who say she should stay at home because of her pregnancy are the same who want woman to be houswifes. Its her choice and shes just a few months pregnant (if thats true) so why should she stay at home like having an illnes… shes a power woman and thats what I like her for!

  11. angela says:

angelina knows what she’s doing. she wouldn’t do anything stupid such as endangering her rumored twins (if it’s true)… haters just envy her because she is very happy and contented with her life and her beautiful family.

  12. Rach says:

I guess they use negative lies because they think it’s more intriguing to people..i don’t think Ange would ever do something purposefully to endanger her children, it’s quite obvious she loves children i’d say! I think she’s amazing..long live her and her beautiful family!

  13. irma says:

ange is beautiful in & out.more power to her.

  14. Ari says:

This is going to probably sound really dumb, but where is that quotation from? I can’t find the source. :(

  15. Lara says:

    to melodie:
you were interested in adopted children?
I have two children, one is adopted. I am not sure what exactly it is you want to know.
Just ask, I am happy to explain if I can.

What would you like to know?
I am happy to answer your questions.
