Happy 7th birthday Maddox Jolie-Pitt!
You know who’s celebrating his 7th birthday today? Maddox Jolie-Pitt! Hard to believe it’s been that long since we were first introduced to one of the coolest little guys in Hollywood. It was after his adoption that Angelina Jolie changed, settling down a bit and dedicating herself to someone completely. I remember her crediting Maddox with saving her.
Angelina once said this about him:
“It’s wonderful. It’s just the most amazing thing in the world. He’s changed my life. He’s really centered me. Anytime I think anything else is important, I just see his smile. He’s made me the best person I could be.”
He was such a little guy when we first saw him, and look at how big he is now!

Life is busy at the Jolie-Pitt household these days but knowing how important each child is to Brad and Angelina, I know they’ll find a way to make his day special and fun. Last year they had the army-style party, I wonder what it will be this year. With so much property surrounding their current home, the possibilities are almost endless.

Thanks, Sherry for the video. People mag had an article about Angie when she adopted Maddox in 2003 and they cover it again today probably for Madd’s birthday. It is very touching. Here is the link

Happy Birthday Mad! That video is such a wonderful tribute to the loving bond between mother and son.
Such a great pic in People mag of him holding his new sister too! Love that he’s still rockin’ the blue mohawk at 7… just as cute as when he was a tiny tot! AND he has the chutzpa to ask when they’re having MORE just days after bringing home TWO new siblings! Way to go Mad!

Happy Birthday to a very special little boy :) I know that every mother loves her children equally and differently at the same time, as each of them are uniquely individuals (as Angie says) and have smth special about him/her that the parent loves in particular. But I always felt that Mad is the apple of her eyes. I don’t know why. It’s just a feeling. And I don’t say it in a bad sense of the word nor do I think he is above the other kids. This child brought so much into Angie’s life. In fact, he brought everything. He made her the woman that she is today and changed her path in such a way that only seven years later she has a wonderful man by her side and 6 little angels. And it all began with him. I really believe in the the fact that the choices you make at some point in your life, can really change you destiny completely. And everything happens with a purpose.
I think this would be an intersting thread. To talk about the jolie pitt chilodren (and not only about their parents:P ) About what makes each of them special (in general or for their parents) and what they brought into their parents life at that particular moment.

I just love this little boy. You can tell a great deal about how children are raised by looking at them. Madd seems like such a sweet little boy. I know that Brad has stepped in to embrace this little boy, but I know that on some level it must have been hard for Angie to share that a little. It was she and Madd for such a long time. Her life changed a great deal when she and Brad got together. I know that Madd depends on Brad a great deal. Angie must feel a twinge of something; even though it must make her extremely happy for Madd to have a father; especially one that he chose for himself. Children are great judges of character.

Do you remember the reaction to the army party? I have to laugh because I have an eleven year old son who loves all things military, including play guns. He has never been exposed to real guns. We don’t advocate violence in any way…. it just seems to be something he was born with… his love of camo! I loved what Angelina said about being for peace, and yet supporting a military response when necessary.
I am surprised at some of the negative things they are saying about the pictures. For instance, in this Chicago Tribune article. Do you think that they have invited the paps and their scrutiny into the family by opening it up, or that it was odd that Maddox wasn’t in the group pictures? (Obviously the Telegraph and Tribune are not pap)

I didn’t notice this, and I’m not sure I agree. (I did question the nightgown, but only because I like them a lot edgier than the pink and white motif the magazine adopted.) It did occur to me that the pictures looked like they were taken in about 20 minutes. That wasn’t what I was expecting. But I don’t agree about inviting the paps in because I think it is a tradition to release pictures of family (like the royals) in hopes of some privacy.

Lara, very nice and totally right. I hope Madd has a great birthday. Last year he had lots of friends over, but this year just the family. Grammy and PopPop are there. (That is what our grandchildren call us). I wonder if Angie’s brother is still there. Anyway, Madd have a Happy Birthday. You are one neat little boy. Your brothers and sisters are real lucky to have you as their older brother. I believe that you are meant for great things in the future.

I love the picture in which the whole family is together and Maddox is holding Shiloh, who is lying on her back and sucking her thumb, flat against his belly. It is sooooooooo beautiful, it shows they are so close !!!! I love Mad too, though I love all the kids equally. What I admire about Mad is that he seems to understand what it means to love already at a young age. If you think about it, it’s quite amazing that he was able to share his dazzling mother with Brad, and all the other kids, and he hasn’t been jealous or resentful about it. But instead he has opened up to everyone. Not only that but he shows love to his younger siblings in a very lovely way — protecting Pax and hugging Shi, for example. Yes, I think he is a very special and lovely little boy.
I am also grateful to the family for satisfying all our huge curiosities about this family by providing us with this big juicy spread of intimate portraits of their family.
Also, I was struck in the photographs by how they really seem to have grown and morphed into a truly loving, united family. Looking at those photographs touched my soul.

I just realized something. The pictures I believe were taken on July 27th. (Sunday). Remember Brad and Angie have said that the family always have a big “Family Sleep” when all the children pile in the bed. They just hang out together, watching movies, laughing and playing. I think the pictures show the “Family Sleep”. They allowed us to share in very special time that the family spends together. How Sweet.

I feel a little for Madness - he may be feeling a little like kids born on xmas, kind of overshadowed on his birthday. Imagine, he was the little emperor his first 2-3 years with all Angelina’s love and attention focused on him. And he’s been such a generous and welcoming brother to each of his sisters and brothers.
