Happy Wanted Day!

Well, today’s the day! In many countries, Wanted opens in theaters today. It’s been getting some pretty good reviews. MSN Movies gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars, while Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 74% (which is actually pretty good for RT!) and calls it a “fast-paced, crackling thrill ride tailor-made for the Summer audience”.

I agree with that. It’s the perfect Summer blockbuster extravaganza to me. I like movies with a deep and meaningful story, movies like The Kite Runner; I like artsy foreign films like Amelie. But sometimes I just like to sit back and enjoy a high energy action flick with impossible story lines and stunts that would leave real people dead. I like to just let go of reality and watch a movie that is laced with adrenaline, and every trailer or clip I have seen promises that Wanted is exactly that.

I can’t wait to see it. Our weekend is too packed to see it now, but I’m hoping to see it next weekend. My birthday is coming up in less than two weeks so I’ve already decided that would be one fun thing to do to celebrate.

Who’s going to see it this weekend? If you do see it, please leave your review here in the comments, but please be sensitive about any spoilers for the people who are still going to be waiting awhile before watching it.

(Ha, I just heard the preview for the movie on my local radio station as I was uploading the photos. Angelina Jolie has such a distinctive and seductive voice.)

Well, I see it’s up to me to write the first review and I think it’s going to be a long one :d I don’t even know what to begin with, but I think I’m going to leave Angelina to the end for a little suspence:P
So, I went to see wanted straight from work. I couldn’t wait anymore:P I arrived at the cinema 10 minutes before it started and the line at the popcorn stand was a very long one:)) But I got to my seat just in time. inside there were quite a lot of people, more that I’ve seen lately in any other premiere. I think though that saturday and sunday they will come in even larger number. I’ll go and check because I definitely want to see the movie again :D
The movie was all that I’ve expected and MORE! In the past days I kept reading review that said things like “Wanted is a fast-paced, crackling thrill ride” or “your adrenal glands will be working overtime.” This is so true, you can’t even imagine. For example, during one scene, I found myself sitting in a very straight and tense position, in my chair, and I thought, althought it was dark inside “oh my god, if someone saw me, I bet they’re having a good laugh”:)) But then I looked in the audience and I saw people in the same position that I was, very concentrated and very into the movie. I’m telling you that I was never, for one second, bored. And that’s something for a movie!
Morgan Freeman is good, but quite levelled, not very much nuance which i think it’s how his character has to be. The experienced leader that keeps everything under controll.
James Mcavoy…my god he is good!!! This is the first movie that i see him in and I think he is a great, great actor. Great potential. Before the movie, I was thinking if he’s not going to be shadowed by angelina’s presence and skills in action movies, but he was not. He did an excellent job. The perfect choice for this role. The poor guy gets sooo beaten up by Fox and the others (but the worst is from fox) that i think he almost hates the most beautiful woman in the world:)))))))) just kidding, but he really has his ass and everything elese kicked really bad by angelina. And my god how she hits. It really gives you the impression that the punches are for real. It’s pure strenght. much more real than in mr and mrs smith and tomb raider, in my opinion. You can see her body gathering up all it’s force for that kick. Actually, I read somewhere that he had some bruises and I tend to believe that it is true:)) But all in all, james is now one of my favourite actors:) The way he narrates the story, the perfect intonation for every situation, his facial expresivity left me with a very good impresion. And I am very hard to impress when it comes to these qualities in an actor.
The movie also has a very strong asset, besides the great visuals and mind blowing stunts: the sense of humour. i didn’t think that i would laugh that much in an action movie:))) And not only me, but the whole audience. It’s a wicked, clever, sarchastic, charming humour. And it’s far better than the already paterned comedy movies humour. It’s high quality. I’m very tempted to give you examples regarding what I’m saying, but no, i’ll let you dicover by yourself ;)
Another plus is that it’s 90% not predictable and you wil see it for youself (I’m saying 90 because there are, of course, like in any movie, little things that are predictable and it’s perfectly normal. You will see the rat scene and will realise what I’m talking about. It was one of the fiew, if not the only predictable one).
The music is very, very well chosen for the movie. Especially “the little things”, my favourite one. Really great song. I loove it. The “pina colada” scene is just delicious:))
The action scenes…what else can I say about that and it wasn’t already told in all the reviews or seen in the trailers. Though I’m telling you that the effect is 10 times bigger on the cinema screen. And Angelina jolie was right when she said that you will see stunts that have never been done before. And I also liked one thing very, very much. It’s like the trademark of the movie and Wanted would deffinitely be known as the first to use this kind of special, visual effects (like the slow motion move in matrix): THE BULLETS! the way they show the bullets it’s fantastic. Like Angie said, every one of them has a story, a very precise trajectory and have to reach an establisged target. Except for a scene, towards the end, when everyone shoots Mcavoy and he shoots everyone in order to survive, no bullet is waisted on missed targets or something else. That was awsome and to my great joy an pride, was angelina’s idea, as you probably already read about it.
Angelina Jolie…I didn’t like her….I was fascinated by her, because words such as “like, beautiful, good”, for me, ar just not enough anymore to describe her. As the guy that interviewed her on the phone said, she is Fox by name and foxy by nature:)) Again, she proves that no Angelina role is simillar to the others. I cannot associate Fox with any other action role that se performed (maybe, from the point of view of stunts difficulty, i can relate a bit with Lara croft, but from the acting point of view is different from all the others). And the fact that she only speaks when neccesary, does it all (and that was also Angie’s idea. Smart woman:P). Her reactions are very surprising (the “shoot the target scene”, the one at Wesley’s apartment and the mind blowing (I think I used the correct words here, you;ll see why) scene at the end are some of them). That attitude of “shut up and do what I say” or “don’t waste my time because you won’t live to regret it” :)) is simply disarming. You’ll love her. A great scene is the one when she tells her life story to Wesley. She shows once again that she can nuance a scene, she can mix and manage emotions and not go over the line like few can. My favourite Angelina Jolie scene, action scene, is the one that you know from the trailer. When she is above the train and, at the tunnel entry, she rolls over her back with her arms opened. It’s so Angelina, that attitude is so her, if you know what I mean. And the slow motion effect does all the trick.
And almost at the end of the movie, at that mind blowing scene that I was telling you above, I was like “what the **ck just happened”. And most of the people were talking about it at the end. In my opinion, that was a better scene that the end scene. And that makes Wanted the Angelina Jolie movie. She has the last word, she decides the faith of all and the way she does it…I’m speechless. The guy that wrote that scene is simply a genius. I would have never imagined it…like that. She closed the circle…literally. It should top a top ten of the best action movie scenes.
OH GOD, I wrote a novel here. I hope you’ll have the patience to read it:))
See you tomorrow, after I see the movie again:P

Sometimes I love going to the movies by myself. I put the phone on silent, and open a box of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans and sit back and enjoy. I am always amazed at how polarizing Angelina Jolie is onscreen. This movie will surprise many I believe. Don’t make an opinion about the movie or the tone by the trailers. Enjoy, I greatly did.
Cheers,

Me and my sister actually snuck in to see this movie since I’m only 16. Like we paid for a wall-E ticket and snuck into the wanted theater. (Seeing Wall-E on sunday though.)
SPOILERS BEWARE!!!
I don’t know if its because I’m 16 but I found there was an incredible amount of blood. I saw 300 and it wasn’t quite as bloody as that but it was bloody.
The ending was the best. It was all going one way like a very typical action movie but then there was a twist and everything changed. And Angie does the most amazing thing. =] So I like this action movie because it actually has a storyline and of course Angelina Jolie. She played her character perfectly. =] The flim was also hilarious at some parts due to James well acting skills.
You know that rumor that Angie brought her writer to vamp up the sex scene is completely FALSE!!!! There was no sex at all between Angie and James. Just a short kiss. No Mr. and Mrs. Smith love scene happened here. So that just goes to show that the media really does drag things out of proportions.
Overall I liked the movie. Three thumbs up. =]

It is a super fast movie. You will be amazed how the scenes defied the laws on physical and natural science. The location is also amazing! There are no pretentions on how each of the characters are played. Judgement is prime in each of the character’s facial expressions. I personally love how the story de-mystified Angelina Jolie. AJ “made” another upcoming action hero in James McAvoy!
I’ve been reading your column since 2005 and I appreciate the good-nature of the contributors. Keep it up. There is so much hate in this world but I found there are still peace loving people in here.

I just came back from watching it! Overall I would give it an 8 out of 10 - the story was interesting, but I it was pretty bloody and I felt it was a little too violent for me (my humble opinion). But Angelina was definitely kick-ass!!! I wouldn’t suggest bringing along your young children.

I Watched ‘Wanted” tonight with my husband, it had everything, good story, full of actions & a little bit of comedy, also bloody not really suited for small children. Angie looks so amazing, & really good. Even James Mcavoy is great. I was thrilled to all the stunts they did. A surprised ending , but a good one. To all the fans go out & see it, oh, the theater was full to the capacity, some decided to sit by the steps. Walle E & Wanted will be fighting for the box office this weekend. I will give ‘Wanted” a thumbs up.
God bless the Jolie-Pitts.

Love it, it was an exciting movie. Was surprise to see a few couples there with small children. Could not understand that at all. Saw it at 2:45 and there was a nice crowd. My dtr is going to see it tomorrow in NY, she knows I like AJ and she loves JM. Angie was thin but looked good. Her lost in weight at that time did not affect her a**. That shot looked good. She is so sexy and hot. She looked like she had a good time beating the crap out of JM.

A few people/critics said it wasn’t good so I was prepared for it…. But whoever said it wasn’t good must not like these kind of fast pace, action films… Because I enjoyed the movie from beginning to end!! I love the story line.
It is action packed!!!! My husband loved it!! We couldn’t help talking about it after watching the movie!!
I love the ending. Made me cried as well!!!
If you haven’t seen it, you must!!!!
Angie was great and so was James McAvoy!!!

Advanced Happy Birthday Sherry! My b-day is on 7/17 too! Watched the last show 12:35am, full house! I have to somewhat disagree about the movie being “predictable.” AJ and James were awesome in this movie! We’re watching it again sometime this weekend. All I can say is expect the unexpected and believe the unbelievable. More blessings to the JP fam.

9 out of 10 stars: It starts with a bang bang. Then I was taken on the wildest amusement park ride of my life. It’s *very* violent, so if you’re squeamish, you have to close your eyes some of the time – like me. It’s not violent & bloody like Saw or Hostel, it’s more like the Wild Bunch or Peckinpah’s Straw Dogs. Lots of blood, guns, knives & one-sided fistfights.
I heart kickass Angie – it was a real pleasure for her character be the only woman in the Fraternity, 2nd in command, in charge of James McAvoy’s character; I even enjoyed her beating him up. Ms. Joie was in charge of Mr. McAvoy’s initiation into the Fraternity – similar to a gang jumping in a new member. Angelina is utterly fascinating, utterly beautiful, and utterly amazing. A man sitting behind me said in awe, “She’s beautiful!” as if that was news to him – must have been living under a rock.
People clapped at the funny scenes & oohed at the spectacular car chases & stunts. They clapped at the end, too. Director Timur delivered the perfect action move: enough plot, great actors – including the music which functioned as an invisible actor, action/chases/stunts, visuals. He melds & blends everything together. He plays us like an expert fly fisherman plays a trout on his line – relaxed one moment to unexpected heart-exploding tension the next. I’ve never seen movies with his stunts before, and his style is original, creative, innovative & ingenious.
Wanted isn’t a cerebral thriller like the Bourne movies or Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. It’s mindless – but in a good way, in the best sense of the word. Wanted is visceral & thrilling & hyper-realistic. Almost all movies have some plot holes – especially genre movies like thrillers, action, sci fii-fantasy, and Wanted does too. But Angie, Morgan Freeman, James McAvoy & Common sell us on it.
Bottom line: thoroughly satisfying & entertaining – worth the price of admission. (I can’t wait until the DVD to see the behind the scenes stuff & listen to the commentaries – plus slo-mo so I can see everything my eyes were too slow to see.)
P.S. Angie was right – it’s better for Fox to be strong & silent like Clint Eastwood in the Good, the Bad & the Ugly. She’s more mysterious and deadly that way.

I appreciate everyone’s comments and can’t wait to see it (my son, his wife and I are going tomorrow). They were not JP fans but have been swayed after I loaned them my two Tomb Raider DVDs. First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHERRY! Thanks for being a great listmom.
Hey, Lara! Fantastic review - I wouldn’t say you’re speechless, though. ;p Passerby, your review was great, too.
I took away 1 star for Timur’s perpetrating stereotypes of fat/obese people. At my 10:40 am viewing, I found it objectionable. At my 3:30 viewing (I had 6 hours to kill until hubby joined me & the 1st movie only cost $6 with my senior/matinee discount), it was obnoxious. At the 8:40 pm viewing with hubby, it was completely unacceptable. In some cultures, being hefty is admired because it meant you’re rich & have plenty to eat. In some cultures (e.g. Samoan – although that’s more a matter of being big & tall instead of fat, sumo wrestling), it’s a genetic body-type. Fat-ism is one of the remaining acceptable discriminatory practices (on the whole, people who are racist/sexist/homophobic/fundamentalists/anti-disabled won’t say their hateful beliefs out loud). In What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Johnny Depp’s & Leo di Caprio’s morbidly obese mom was treated with more respect & humanity.
Being obese is an eating disorder & should be treated like anorexia & bulimia, or like other medical diseases like diabetes. It’s not as if fat people don’t know they’re fat & aren’t self-conscious/ashamed about it. The stereotypes include fat cats, fat b*tch, fat-assed, greedy, sloppy, stupid, lacking self-control, weak-willed, ugly, mean, obnoxious, disliked, friendless, don’t have sex, etc., etc., etc. I liked Million Dollar Baby, but one of the things I didn’t like was the depiction of Hilary Swank’s stupid, money-grubbing relatives as fat white trash (I have an objection to this stereotype too). I *know* thin people can be just as greedy & stupid.
Fat people are still discriminated against, although not too overtly – in jobs, in shops, in how we’re treated in general. I’ve long believed that the only fat people who are treated with basic respect & decency & are accepted are: 1. Well-groomed rich people, and 2. talented people a la Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Jill Scott, etc. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t rich or blessed with that kind of talent.

‘Wanted’ takes in $19 million Friday
By Gregg Kilday, June 28, 2008, 02:21 PM ET
Moviegoers gave a big, warm hug to Disney/Pixar’s “WALL-E” on its opening day Friday. But even as the G-rated animated movie topped the day’s boxoffice returns, Universal’s R-rated “Wanted” gave it a run for its money, as the action pic roared out of the gate with a powerful second-place showing.
Even though it labored under the restriction of its R-rating, “Wanted,” in which James McAvoy¹s everyman mixes it up with assassins played by Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman, beat the odds, grabbing an estimated $19 million in 3,175 theaters. That puts the film on a trajectory for a weekend gross in the upper $40 million to lower $50 million range, and by Monday morning should make its director Timur Bekmambetov the new go-to action guy in Hollywood.
Despite competition from “WALL-E,” DreamWorks Animation’s “Kung Fu Panda,” in its fourth weekend, hung on in fourth place with a Friday haul of $3.5 million.
[Note WALL-E is playing in 800 more theaters than WANTED.]

Back from the second viewing of Wanted :d as expected, many more people than yesterday.
still the same adrenaline rush. This movie really rocks!!! And what I like the best is that, as angelina said, it has a story. There is a reason for all that fighting and killing. Something surprising for me happened tonight. The audience applauded!!! I have never been to a movie and see the public applauding. It gave me such a feeling of pride :D
I have a curiosity. In one of the trailers, in the scene on the train, Wesley asks “are we gonna bond now?” and Fox answers “would you like to?”. I didn’t see that in the movie and I was wondering if it was just for the trailer or they cutted parts of the movie (here in my country I mean). Have you seen that part?

I saw wanted yesterday at 1:20pm. The first showing at my movie place. I really enjoyed it. JM was terrific. The ending was a surprise. I won’t give it away. I could not believe what happened. Just to let you know that action starts at the beginning and it takes you on a ride the whole way. You just have time to breathe a bit. I hope her fans really support this movie. We fell shot with a Mighty heart. That was something else. I just think they made a mistake releasing that movie in the summer. Angie rocks and really kicks a–. Love her in action movies. Now I can not wait to see Changeling.

I just came home with my husband after seeing Wanted. Like what everybody was saying, the ending really, really surprised me. It happened so fast, and OMG what happened there after I blinked. Angie might be skinny when this movie was filmed but her bare bottom was not skinny at all. James McAvoy is the new action star of Hollywood. This movie delivered. Too bad it came out the same weekend as Wall-e which is not a fair competition since both movies are targeted to different markets. I hope it will also gross more internationally since animated movies are not well known in some countries. I know in the Philippines, most guys love to see bloody action movies. That’s just my opinion, they know they are all stunts. I love all the train scenes in Wanted. You will definitely get your money’s worth. Plan to purchase this when it goes on DVD.

Got back from Wanted…really enjoyed it…the whole time I kept saying that this reminded me of Shoot Em Up and then someone told me the same guy directed both…it definitely had that Shoot Em Up flair…ridiculous action sequences that are so impossible that you love them…funny and witty dialogue…can I just say that James McAvoy completely stole the show for me in this…he was wonderful, so funny…I think he was a perfect casting here…and as everyone said before, Angie was mighty skinny (but she’s still got that beautiful face)…she plays these bad girl roles so well…I think those who keep an open mind and just go into the film for fun will really enjoy it…if you keep telling yourself how impossible the scenarios are, then you will probably take it way too seriously and hate it…but I love these type of fun, action filled movies…and yes, the ending was very surprising…didn’t see any of it coming…I say this is a perfect film for those who want a fun and careless movie that makes you smile and makes you cringe at times…such a perfect role for someone like Angie who was recovering from such a devestating time in her life…so go see Wanted and have lots of fun…our girl definitely delivered!! :-)

Awesome. Spread the word. Great action movie with many twists and suspense. Should be summer box office hit. Angelina gorgeous, slim, fast, sensational. On her first appearance on screen, there was many oohs and ahhs, think many went just to see her. James McAvoy fits the part in excellent ways, a bit unexpected but turns out to be very good (like him in Atonement, a moving drama of good acting) in action especially placed next to Angelina, sort of same height. His vulnerability is well stoked and complemented by her sensational challenge. Highly recommended, and I am in my 60’s!

Gena, thanks for the heads up on the video of Angie’s travels to the Congo. I had never seen this before. I believe that possibly this is when Angie changed her ways of thinking about what was important in her life. Any Jolie-Pitt fan should watch this, you will really appreciate Angie even more than we do already. It is long but stick with it.

Great movie-lots of action, great story, fun, fun time at the theater! Husbands and boyfriends will love it and so will the ladies. Angelina is the only woman in Hollywood who could have played the part of Fox. I can’t think of another who could have pulled off the stunts and looked so good doing them. Also, she knows how to handle a gun and doesn’t look like a fish out of water being the bad ass chick. Go to see Wanted!

Variety - $51.2M, ‘Wanted’ wows box office
$11.7M Kung Fu Panda (4th weekend)
Universal’s Angelina Jolie actioner “Wanted” did socko business at the weekend box office. The R-rated “Wanted” rocketed past expectations in grossing an estimated $51.1 million from 3,175.
“Wanted” scored the best opening ever for an R-rated film released in June and the 6th best opening of all time for any R-rated pic. Film, also starring James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman, placed No. 2 for the weekend and played equally well among various ethnic groups.
Even with the entry of “Wall-E”, DreamWorks Animation/Paramount toon “Kung Fu Panda” still rustled up plenty of biz, declining 46% in its fourth sesh to an estimated $11.7 million from 3,670 for a cume of $179.3 million and placing No. 4 for the weekend.

So Wanted, Universal’s Angelina Jolie/James McAvoy starrer, debuted to $19.1M Friday and $17.5M Saturday from 3,175 venues for a $51.1M weekend. It marks a new franchise for the studio which expected only $35+M from this stylish summer actioner. It turned out to be the best June opening ever for an R-rated movie, beating Knocked Up’s $30.6M, and the 6th highest R-rated opening of all time (behind The Matrix Reloaded, The Passion Of The Christ, 300, Hannibal, and Sex And The City) and the 3rd biggest R-rated action film (behind The Matrix Reloaded’s $91.7M, and 300’s $70.9M). It’s also the biggest opening ever for a live-action Angelina movie and she proved a big draw: Cinemascore said the main reasons given for choosing to see Wanted were the action (67%) and Jolie (61%). Exit polling showed the audience breakdown was 52%/48% male to female, 51%/49% under age 30 to over age 30.

Who is to thank for the large success of Wanted? Universal mostly, but big thanks have to go to Angelina Jolie, who might be the leading female summer name working today. She added her voice to Kung Fu Panda, which opened to over $60 million only a few short weekends ago, got Mr. & Mrs. Smith above $50 million, and helped open Beowulf over $25 million. The woman embodies sex appeal, and brought males out in force for the aptly titled Wanted. Also, her adoptions and willingness to take on human rights issues ring true with women, which may have made the fairer gender more apt to check this one out (and James McAvoy would have helped in that department as well). McAvoy is turning into a star, and the above-the-title recognition for Wanted adds to the success he found in Atonement, and will find if he ends up in The Hobbit as Bilbo Baggins.
As stated, Wanted was once a graphic novel, and with a string of hits coming out of the graphic novel industry, this one won’t be the last. The poster boy for the graphic novel is 300, the film that starred no one but looked cool, as it became a $70 million opener and a $210 million domestic finisher. Sin City opened to $29 million, finished with $74 million, and now has two sequels lined up for the near future. V for Vendetta also earned over $70 million domestically, and the list goes on. Graphic novels are the perfect fit for Hollywood films - they can be over-the-top, violent, and drip with good ideas. Hopefully, we will see many more in the near future.

I didn’t see that scene either. I didn’t even realize it was missing till now.
I saw Wall-E today and I have to say WANTED was better. (Got a free mini poster for WANTED =] Its awesome Cause you get to see Angie and her matching gun. My little sister got one for Kung Fu Panda But Tigress wasn’t on the poster. =[)
And it is rare to see people clapping at the theaters these days with a bunch of crappy movies and every once in a while there are some exceptional movies (Like Wanted) where people applaud. =] (When I saw Enchanted people were clapping after each song!!)

What a ride? Can’t wait for the DVD to come out! Fox and Wes’s characters played well against each other.
Angie is magnificent and James absolutely rose to the occassion and dare I say he challenged Angie’s limelight very well! I loved all the performances and the twists were not predictable to me.
What can I say about Morgan…Great as usual. I would have wanted to see more of him and Common, but I think am just being greedy now!!!!!!!! LOL
The clapping at end was VERY cool! :)

LOL you helped Wall-E by paying for it only to sneak into Wanted!
At least you could have given the money to KFP and then snack into Wanted. That way Angie would still have benefitted… hehehe.
It’s a pity about Wall-E the concept is good, but it sounds boring. Particularly with no dialogue for almost 1 hour. But it is Pixar and am sure it was beautifully drawn. Hope to see it this week!

Last night I saw wanted for the third time. This time I took my sister to see it also. She was absolutely enchanted. After the movie I wanted to say something to her and she said “please, be quiet”:))) “don’t talk to me now. I have to realize what just happened”. I believe that she was very shocked about what fox did:)) then she told me that this is the best movie she’d seen in tha past yearor more. And she also told me something, the same thing that I felt after seeing wanted, that she doesn’t want to see any movie for a while, because anything else will seam very bad:))) She was sorry that that was the final representation for that day (we went in the evening) because she wanted to see it again. Somebody knows when it will be released on DVD?
About that blog, I accidentaly run into it quite some time ago and I had the same reaction. Mary Ann, Angie changed her ways of thinking about what was important in her life during the second tomb raider when she addopted maddox. This travel log was recorded some time after. Have you seen beyond borders? I strongly recommend it. Whwn she read the script, a few years before tomb raider was when she began to wonder and to try to find out everything she couldabout the refugees, when she plyed in the first tomb raider and visited cambodgia was when she began to see it for herself and during the second TR she addopted mad and began to work with UNHCR. Even though she read the script for beyond borders several years before the tomb raider series, the film was shot after those two. That’s why it is even more realisticbecause angelina was beginning to work with the UN at that time and you can relate even more to her character. It is one of my favourite movies.

i don’t know why but i just couldn’t get the “cheeseburger-eating scene” in WANTED out of my mind. LOL! it fascinates me!:)
‘beyond borders’ is one of my favorites too. it’s close to my heart coz i want to volunteer for UN or MSF someday. i hope it happens next year.:)

timi, I also want to do that soon. because it’s what angelina said, we are citizens of the world and if we were in their places (the refugees), with no home, no place of our own and with all our loved ones gone, it would be nice to know that there is someone out there who cares. I hope angelina knows that she really brings awareness. At least she brought it to me.

I should have gotten a Kung Fu Panda ticket instead. >_< It was hard to think when the cashier was demanding an ID.
Yeah Wall-E was almost completely dialogueless. But it was one of those awwwww that was cute movies while Wanted is one of those DAMN that was Amazing movies.

Seemed sort of mindless and souless to me. McAvoy is a great actor. I thought she looked hot but seemed more like she was posing rather than acting. The plot was really kind of silly. Some of the action was cool, but the plot left a lot to be desired. Liked the music. I would say overall it was not her best.

Did anyone hear one of McAvoys interview where he was asked about the kissing scene if he was nervous, one interview, he stated that he was uncomfortable due to bad breath, not Angie, but him. Then the other interview, can’t recall if it was access or extra, McAvoy made a comment that he felt like he was kissing a grandmother, now that’s way out of line. Angie is far from being his grandmother and that was not a nice thing to say about a co-star. I can honestly say that, if Angie was not in the movie, I don’t think it would make that much. I’ll try to check which interview that was…

i think it was an interview for BBC radio. angie’s interview was already posted here (i couldn’t remember which topic). she replied to the ‘like kissing his grandmother’ comment. she didn’t take it badly. in fact, she found it so funny! she knew that james mcavoy was just kidding. so i don’t see any problem.:)

jhoey27, I would disagree. I think McAvoy is very very much the star of this film, and it is very much his talent and range that is on display here. I think the Fox role could have gone to any number of beautiful actresses who have action talent. That said, I think a lot of people will see it because of her… I did… but he’s going to be a very big actor because he is very talented.

Carrie, his talent has nothing to do with it, I guess, due to his young age, he’s quite tackless in his interviews. I just did not like his choice of words referring to kissing Angie like kissing a grandma. That is not a nice comment, Angie is not that old.

How young is he really? as a grandmother myself I know kissing Angie can’t be like kissing a grandmother (I wish) Angie is very young herself. Sometimes it is hard to express yourself across cultures even when the language is the same. So perhaps he meant something else and couldn’t quite express it in American english :) I do hope 33 is not considered old these days geez.

LOL really, any beautiful actress? Where did she pose? You do realise posing requires deliberate stance(s). Don’t agree mate! At all! Angie’s talent was very evident, James was fabulous and so was Angie.

@ carrie just for discussion who among the beautiful actresses in hollywood could play FOX as good as angelina! fyi angelina is the only female star in hollywood who does 80% of her stunts when doing an action film! also if angie would just pose in a movie she will not get an oscar or will not be able to command $15 mil per film!

i don’t think james meant anything bad by the grandma kissing comment. i believe he just meant that for filming purposes the kiss was so strategic that any passion or, for lack of a better term, juiciness was drained out. i’m having a hard time explaining things right now … but just to get on point, i think it just wasn’t a comfortable situation because they were snogging in front of a film crew, and while they were kissing, the director was probably telling them to move their heads a certain way so the camera can get a good shot from interesting angles. so yeah, it would be hardly romantic. i’m sure under different circumstances, james would have enjoyed angie’s lips. but they made the kiss look very good, despite james’ discomfort about his breath. hehe.
