Johnny Depp in talks to sign on for “The Tourist” with Angelina Jolie

Be still my beating heart. Although it’s not fully confirmed just yet, movie sites everywhere are covering the story that Johnny Depp is in talks to sign on for The Tourist with Angelina Jolie.
If he takes on the role, Johnny Depp will replace Sam Worthington (who replaced Tom Cruise!) and will play an American tourist who inadvertently gets sucked into an Interpol agent’s investigation of her ex. The agent, of course, is to be played by Angelina Jolie.
The Tourist is actually a remake of a fairly recent (2005) French thriller, and it’s odd that there have been so many casting changes and negotiations. However, if they manage to get both Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in the film, it’s sure to be a blockbuster extravaganza. Also, there are talks to get Alfonso Cuaron to direct; I’m a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, the books and the movies, and when he did Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban it was stunningly beautiful. The idea of him being behind one of Angelina’s movies is exciting to me!
In all honesty, the only thing that would be better to me would be if they were casting Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in a really heavy drama. They’re both incredibly talented actors and while I love Angie in a good action flick, I’d love to see the two of them really play off each other in a movie that is more character-driven rather than thrill-oriented. Still, the thought of the two of them being cast together is fantastic no matter what the movie!
The only thought that has me wondering how likely it is that this will end up confirmed after the negotiations are finished is that this isn’t really the type of role that Johnny Depp plays. He’s very well known for picking roles that are considered quirky. While this sounds like an exciting movie, “quirky” doesn’t really fit, so it’s almost odd to picture him playing the part as it’s described. On the other hand, when you always play the unexpected, it could be interesting to play a straight-up thriller character.

I wonder if this has something to do with them being nabours. maybe kid play-dates have turned into we should do a project together, and this came up. My dream movie would be Depp and Pitt doing a movie together. And although Depp is known for quirky choices, I wouldn’t call Dillinger quirky.

If this movie comes to fruition, then I think it will be an automatic blockbuster based solely on the casting of Angie & Johnny. I’ve seen most of Brad & Angie’s movies, but I have to admit I’ve only seen 3 of Johnny’s movies (Chocolat, Pirates I, & Edward Scissorhands).
Off topic: Angie’s dad, Jon Voight & her uncle Chip Taylor came to my workplace on Monday. They left by the time I came to the office. I know JV is not popular among JP fans, but he made a great impression on my co-workers. They said he was super nice, super friendly, and very down-to-earth.

A Jolie-Depp movie would be real exciting. But as I said yesterday, the stories and lies that would be written would be unbelievable. Both couples have located themselves in France because that is the only way they can have some sort peace and quiet. Guess we will just have to wait and see.
I wuld love to see this movie like Faye88-I havent seen many Depp movies except Chocolate Factory and Sweeney Todd but they were really gud so im sure he’s great! This wuld be an amzing movie to watch. The plot seems extremely interesting and Im sure they’ll wrk well together. But I jus had to say this since Mary Ann mentioned them living in France. Some ppl (most likely Brangie bashers) sayd tht the onli reason they enjoy it out there in fFrance more than here is because their schools have longer hours and it givs them a chance to have ‘alone time’!! A load of BULL im sure but hey, freedom of speech i guess!! PPL jus dnt kno how to leav em the hell alone!!
it will be a very good one…they are both talented actors. best seller… mrs.jollie-pitt is my favourite, she is real and and despite what tabloid or goossssip that comes out bout them and her hubby…. they will not break’m up, they belong together.
Oh. My. Goodness. That would be awesome. And yes the tabloids will have a hey day. They’ll. Have angie and johnny engaged in a scorching affair before filming even begins.

Well, to be honest I haven’t seen a lot of Depp films.. I’ve seen parts of POTC, and all of Charlie and the Chocolate factory, but thats it. So I can’t make any judgments on this. I’ll watch it though, I’m sure.

She is so inspiring, and she met the man of her dreams in Brad Pitt. The hottest onscreen couple ever was Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, but the second hottest will DEFINITELY be Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. They actually have a Lot in common. Both have Indian and French ancestry.Both have multiple tatoos,& had tatoos of their boyfriend/girlfriend on their arm (johnny had ‘Winona Forever’ and angie had ‘billy-bob’),both used to cut themselves, both are Geminis w/daughters born on May 27th. I think Angelina is the female version of johnny depp, and they would be GREAT friends, but I think they are too much alike to have been lovers. Kinda like Angie and Colin Farrel….Angie knew he was too wild & crazy for them to settle down and be a couple.
Almost every site or blog is reporting about AJ & JD possible on screen team up. Not surprisingly, the general public opinion is positive. It seems everyone is very excited & enthusiastic on this prospect. At this early, some are even planning to save money now to watch “The Tourist” more than once. Some are not even fans of AJ or JD but want to see it out of curiosity. Many people want to see how these great performers (besides having good looks) act on screen together.
Of course, AJ & BP combo is something else because it is something very special. No comparison to other celebrity “team ups”.
I really hope this new on screen combination will materialized.
this is a “match made in heaven”! as one of the article that has been swarming in the net for days now.. I really wanted them to be in a movie together! I’m always a FAN of Angie and Johnny Depp.. honestly, I’ve known Johnny Depp before Brad is.. haha! This would surely be a big hit on screen! I honestly wanted to believe his in the movie.. A Jolie-Depp tandem is really Awesome!

queen bee- Angie actually does not have French ancestry, or at least not much. Her mother was French-Candian, not French. Angie even once said that her mother was “as far from French Parisian as you can get”. So Angie is part French-Canadian.
I just wanted to clear that up, because I h8te it when the whole “Marcheline Bertrand was French” rumor gets spread, whether intentionally or not. 
I wouldn’t go as far as saying she’s the “female version” of Johnny Depp.
They may have a few things in common, but their personalities seem very different to me. For one, Angelina is very open, Depp seems much more private.
It’s Native American btw, not Indian. (: At any rate, I’m not even sure if she has that in her. This is why we cannot believe more than half the stories said about people because you just cannot be sure. I had once read somewhere that Jon Voight and Angie’s mom made up her Iroquois heritage. He apparently said this in an interview (that I did not see, just to clarify). But then I had also seen somewhere that her mom had some foundation for Native Americans. Which also could be untrue to. I have this thing where I really don’t believe much unless the person actually confirms it… by televised interview, and even with that.. it depends on the person. Hell even the things we read in magazine interviews aren’t always accurate. There have been too many occasions when the celebrity will state that they were “misquoted”.

I watched JD movies more than I watch Brad’s. I’m into Brad since he is with Angie. The idea of JD together with Angie in a movie really interest me. I don’t know how to descritbe their acting, but both of them are “intense” actors. It would be an explosive combination.Just wait and see if there is any truth in this news.
I have been reading a lot of blogs on this, someone has written (can’t remember from where) that since Brad is currently not doing any projects, maybe they should cast him with Angie. Now that is something to talk about!I would say go for it!
Angela – Yes. It’s funny. When my co-worker told me the name it didn’t register with me because it came out of left field and I was totally absorbed with a computer problem. It wasn’t until he said “Angelina Jolie’s father” that I made the connection. They were in town promoting Chip Taylor’s new album. JV sings harmony on some of the songs. I would have liked to have seen him because they told me he is quite tall, younger looking than he appears on the screen, and quite handsome for his age.
June, that would be lovely. To see Brad & Angie again on screen. But it’s not going to happen any time soon unfortunately. When one parent is working, the other is home with their children.

Kimmy – you´re SO right! Brad and Angie are the hottest couple ever! I wish they stay together forever! On the topic. I really wish that this latest rumor concerning the cast of The Tourist is true. I love Johnny Depp´s movies and would really like to see Angie and Johnny Depp in the same movie. And I would also love to see Brad and Johnny in the same movie one day. They both are my favorite male actors. The rags will have a field day if this line-up is true. They will be building a relationship between Johnny and Angie from the start of the shooting. But Johnny is thankfully very happy with Vanessa Paradis and they have two adorable children. And Angie – as we all full well know – in deeply in love with Brad and has those six healthy, adorable children. IF this rumor is true I´m most definitely gonna see this movie more than once. I just can´t get enough of Angie or Johnny´s movies. They´re as much my favs as Brad´s movies.

I recently watched the trailer “Salt” which comes out summer of next year. I have to say, if Angie does not get an Oscar for that movie, all the members of SAC need to be replaced with others who know a 12 out of 1 to 10 movie. The best thing the producers did for this movie is to replace Tom Cruise with Angie and write the story for a woman. It is a GREAT movie. As for Angie and Johnny (Depp) cast together, that would be awesome. I remember Johnny from his days of “21 Jump Street”. He has just gotten better over time. The “Tourist” will be another great movie for Angie. Especially with Johnny in tow. Can’t wait to see both movies.

Wonder if she and Brad have done that thing with Zee and Shi when they were potty-trained. LOL. Angie sure is a mum who is fun to be around. And Brad is certainly a fun dad. Besides my excitement re “The Tourist” with AJ & JD, I can’t wait to watch “Salt”. I am curious how the story goes. Although it’s a spy film, probably there is something about it that’s worth watching.

i like the pairing! however, i agree … i would rather see them act together in a non-action flick but more in a drama. still, this seems long overdue, and i’d watch it.
Hey Elizabeth. Yeah, they must be hiding out. I love when their new films come out, it means interviews… and I enjoy listening to them talk. For me its mostly about their travels and her work with the U.N. though. I sure will miss her if she fades away like she has said she might. :/

Also, if you look closely at the first picture, you can just make out what looks to be Zee sitting in a pink carseat just behind Brad and Angie (and in another picture, you can tell that she is also sitting right next to Shi!). 
Salt teaser trailer garnerned 418794 views at Yahoo com. Great start for the film. I remember Wanted trailer had similar impact when its first trailer was released. Wanted trailer had been in top views list for several weeks.That’s the reason I was assured that Wanted would be 2008 summer’s sleeper. Salt will be one of 2010’s global blockbuster.
About The Tourist. Sherry, first I had same thought about casting Johnny in this film. I don’t know about the storylne but read someone who read the script wrote that he thought the role is for Depp. Jonny may be interested in working with German maestro Directer whose name I forget. But Alfonso Cuaron is known as the director of Children of Men. He is a great director. So many top talent this project drew. It must be an interesting storyline.
Get Anjolina and Johhny in a movie together and you are talking block buster. Academy awards, a dream come true.
I would be very happy to see whom I believe are the two best male and female film entertainers appear in a movie together. Why I would even buy the DVD and play it over and over. They are true artisans. I truly enjoy watching them perform. They are mystifying.
