Jolie-Pitt Rumors Are Funny Sometimes
March 29, 2008 by Sherry
It’s funny how the tabloids just run at the mouth, so to speak, when they don’t have any real news. It must be frustrating to them that it’s been over a week since they caught some pictures of Angelina Jolie with the four kids, and that they haven’t been able to get a single on-set shot of Brad Pitt while he films.
So, of course, we’re flooded with rumors. First there’s the money that people are discussing – money for the first photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s new baby. The numbers are insane and also total speculation. There are claims that Jennifer Lopez got $6 million for the first photos of her twins, but there’s no proof to substantiate that at all – no one has confirmed it. But because of those claims, people are trying to guess how much People will give Brad and Angelina after their new baby’s birth. In the past 24-48 hours, I have had my inbox flooded with alerts claiming as fact that they will get $7 million, $8 million, and even $10 million dollars.
I find that highly unlikely. For one thing, I don’t think they could even make enough through sales to cover a $10 million price tag. They would lose money by obtaining the must-see photos and that’s just bad business. Also, I can’t imagine Brad or Angie demanding that much money. Like many celebrities, they offer the first photos to a reputable magazine in order to avoid being chased (even more than usual) by paparazzi who are all hell-bent on getting that first shot. I remember reading about that when I read Brooke Shields‘ fabulous book about her post-partum depression, Down Came the Rain, where she and her husband set up a photoshoot so that the challenge of being the first photographer to get a picture would be gone. It’s really a brilliant idea. And we all know that Brad and Angelina immediately turn over all the money to a charity, so I think it works out.
But that much money? I really think people are highly exaggerating the numbers for all the celebrities.
The other current rumor I keep seeing today is that Angelina Jolie is allegedly suffering from gestational diabetes. I find that laughable. Yes, it’s certainly possible, a lot of women do indeed get it, but to announce it as fact? Despite the fact that she’s very obviously pregnant, neither Angelina nor Brad (or even Cindy, Brad’s rep) have formally announced or confirmed the pregnancy. Of course they don’t need to, we all have eyes, but my point is, if they’re not even confirming the pregnancy itself, why would they be confirming that she has diabetes?
It also makes me roll my eyes a bit that so many of the sites tooting that horn are making it sound like it’s a total horror that she has GD. If she does indeed have it, it’s a pain. I never got it, but my friend did, and it’s a nuisance, but it’s not the worst thing in the world. All these sites are so alarmist, acting as though Angelina is under constant medical watch and is in grave danger. It’s very manageable and almost always goes away after the birth. Nothing drives me as crazy as people who turn every single mention of pregnancy into a medical nightmare.
So those are the biggest two rumors out there right now. The big wedding that some tabloids were talking about seem to be dwindling once again, and these two are on the rise (though the supposed wedding, quoted from a “source” at least sounded really nice, including a barefoot Angie carrying wild flowers picked by her children, how cute would that be?!).
Shall we discuss?

We are all speculating about how much the tabloids will pay, as hight as 8 mil just to have an exclusive photos of the upcoming birth of another Jolie-Pitt, that’s a lot of money but if it’s going to be released all over the world that’s possible they can get as high as that & we know they will not pocket that money, it will go to charities. I don’t think tabloids will leave them alone for now, they will always be the talk of the tabloids & the cover for that matter. I am guilty, I bought copies of Ok & In Touch because they are on the cover & Shi, I usually buy tabloid mags for keep sake not to read what they are writing about because I know they have no basis. I will be back later. Need to go to Great Clips for my haircut. Sherry, I hope, you & your family will have a nice weekend. Blessings.
Thanks Irma, we didn’t get to see my parents for Easter weekend so we’re going over there today and tomorrow we’re possibly having some friends over for dinner to cheer up my friend who is a little down lately. Shaping up to be a good weekend!
Happy weekend to all the PittWatch readers!
I red the same things, except that she’s expecting twins. The same source, that was claiming a few months ago, that Angelina is pregnant. Hmmm, wonder if there is something in it?
I will never believe that someone actually paid Jlo 6 mil for pictures of her babies, I know she has this illusion that she’s famous but I feel sorry for her. I have no affection for people who loves to wear fur showing support to those who murder animals for fashion, she’s as sick as them. So shiloh got 4mil from people and 4mil from a british magazine, total of 8mil and Jlo got 6mil, come on, I have to see the check to even believe this lies.
THOSE NEWS IN THE TABLOIDS SHOULD NOT GET INTO ANYONE SKIN. 6MILLIOM 10MILLION WHATEVER IS JUST A NEWS, AT LEAST ANGIE AND BRAD WERE USING THE MONEY FOR GOOD PURPOSE. THE REST OF THEM WENT INTO THEIR HIGH MAINTENANCE STYLE. WE ALL KNOW THAT ANGIE DONT WASTE MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT IS NOT IMPORTANT. AND THAT IS WHY WE LOVE HER. SAYONARA EVERYONE
Do the magazines sell the pictures on after their publication is out? If so, then they may pay big money, I suppose. I think its a good thing to do as they give the money to charity and the paps will get the photos anyway.
Hey Sherry,
Star magazine’s website is reporting that Brad and Angelina got married in New Orleans today. Any confirmation?
the rumors are indeed funny but i have to admit that the barefoot, carrying wild flowers wedding was cute. lol.
lol, the latest rumor i’ve heard is that there are actually married now, even though i wish that was true, i don’t think it is.
I think that People’s editor talked about the subject of first baby photos once (I could be wrong, but I remember a very interesting article from a little while ago) and acknowledge that they’re while they’ll never recoup the cost they spend on the photo rights (when it’s in the realm of $3mill and upwards) through increased magazine sales alone, it’s still a worthwhile purchase because it does boost the magazine’s image. They see it is a long term investment. People currently leads that race, I think – when people think of new celeb baby photoshoots, People is the magazine that would come to mind (With Shiloh, Pax, Nicole Ritchie’s Harlow, Christina Aguilera’s Max, JLo’s twins etc) so they’ve been extremely successful in building their brand.
Living in Australia I have a sort of outsiders perspective on the whole thing, though… we have about five weekly magazines here too, and they’re sort of similar but a bit different to the US magazines (which are also available here in some bookstores). It’s funny watching the evolution of a rumour… first it starts on some site, then a magazine with a deadline to contend with during a slow week decides to run with it… a week later and it’s making its run through the Australian magazines, lol. I wonder if many people actually do take the stories in Star and In Touch and those sort of magazines as gospel?
Interesting post Sherry, sorry for rambling on! ^_^ I love discussing this stuff, even though in an ideal world Angie and Brad would never have to deal with these issues.
I am a fan of Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, but when I saw the pictures of the beautiful little twins I was a little put off. I am surprised that Marc went along with something like that. He is a very private person and that is why we do not see pictures of his other children. As much as I like them as performers I wondered if they donated the money, however much it was, to charity. Now Brad and Angelina are different we all know for a fact what they do with their money. A great deal of it goes to charity. Also, Angelina is not a showy type of person. Looking at the pictures of Shiloh and Suri proves that. Suri is always well turned out in name brand clothes and then there is the Jolie-Pitt children who are dressed like “normal” children. We can identify with this family for that reason. If they are going to an important function they dress to kill, but on any given day they and their children look like us. And if you remember the pictures from when Shiloh was born, it showed a mother and father looking at their newborn with all the love in the world. Simple and down to earth. No fancy clothes or fancy nursery.
funny, but Angelina has decked out the twins’ nursery to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, bought a $17,000 pacifier for Shiloh, etc.
If you read the news, you’ll find that the photo shoot was carefully choreographed to make them look like Mr. & Mrs. Normal using plain walls in the background and keeping people from seeing how they really live and dress. The news says it will now probably be a “standard” in Hollywood photo shoots and that “casual” is very hard to pull off.
