Marcheline Bertrand Passed Away Yesterday

by Robyn on January 28th, 2007

Sadly Angelina’s mother passed away yesterday, as Angie reported today via a release. It appears the cancer that she’s been fighting for such a long time has finally succeeded in taking her life.

Bertrand gave up a promising acting career years ago to raise the children of Jon Voight.

Bertrand, who had small roles in the movies “Lookin‘ to Get Out” in 1982 and “The Man Who Loved Women” in 1983, raised Jolie and her brother after divorcing their father, Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight , when Jolie was a toddler.

When she and Voight divorced, Bertrand could no longer deal with auditions and still be the mom she wanted to be. Angelina has often commented that people think that she and brother, James Haven, grew up with loads of money and with gleaming silver spoons, but she remembers things differently. I’ve heard her state on many occassions that because her father took acting very seriously, he wouldn’t take just any role. So, often, the roles were a long ways in between, so the family endured financial hardships, even though her father was a successful actor. Then, when he left the home, Marcheline had quite a time feeding and caring for her children. I know that Angie’s modeling, she’s said, was a strain on her young mother as well, but her sacrifice was boundless for her children. Nevertheless, her efforts produced a talented director and a highly-successful film actress, so I am sure she was very proud.

Angelina and James both adored their mother and this must be a particularly difficult time for all involved. The reports assert that James, Angie and Brad were all present when Marcheline breathed her last breath. If you’d like to send condolences, the family has asked that you give it in the form of support to the Women’s Cancer Research Institute. Our prayers and love are with the family right now. I pray they can stay close in this time of need.

Thanks to Cynthia and Sami for the tip. My plane just landed in San Francisco so I’d have missed this for a while had I not been blessed with such eagle-eyed tipsters.

My condolences to Angie, brother Jamie, and their family. I’m proud that Marcheline raised two beautiful children, especially Angie who grew out to be a wonderful, caring, and loving woman. At least, Marchelin was able to witness her daughter’s stable life with Brad and their three adorable kids before she passed. RIP Marcheline.

There is no finer legacy for a woman who wants to be a “full time mom” than the children she raised. That Marcheline did it mostly on her own is further testament to her strength. She has left a legacy to be extremely proud of, and I’m sure a hole the size of the cosmos in their lives.

My deepest sympathy to James, Angelina, Brad, Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh; and to the extended Bertrand family.

A life ending in such grace is one well-lived…Blessings on your way Marcheline Bertrand! You have left a legacy of devotion and love to your children, an example for every woman and mother to follow. The river is softly carrying you away from earth and there is no reason to hold on…let go…you are going into the light of the afterlife…

My prayers for Angie and family. I heard the news at the SAG Red Carpet last night. Depandi said on a sad note that she passed away Saturday afternoon and that Angie, James and Brad were at the hospital. Then she said, Brad and Angie will not be at the SAG awards for sure. This sad news was also flashing on the bottom screen for a few minutes before the red carpet started.

My Deepest Sympathy Goes Out To Marcheline’s Family & Friends At This Sad Time.

What a wonderful Mum who reared loving, caring children to carry on her legacy in this world. The only sad part is she will not physically witness her grandchildren growing up but I know she’ll be there spiritually for guidance whenever they need her.

    RIP

I am a long time fan of BAMZS. My sincere condolences to Angie and her family in this difficult time.

To all the haters and nonfans who have the audacity to critise Angie in this difficult time you are the vilest human beings in this world. You are practically inhuman. I doubt you even have a heartbeat. I hope you never have to live to see a love one die in this way.

I read some nasty ones at JustJared and PerezH. Don’t mind those narrow minded people. By the way, there is a picture of Brad avoiding the paps as he came out of the Plan B office in Beverly Hills last night. He looked pissed off at them and said “they are unbelievable?” The love of his life’s mother just died and the paps won’t let them mourn alone. They want to take a photo of them while they are arranging funeral services. For God’s sake, they are public people, but they need to respect this moment.
