Michael Douglas apologizes to Brad and Angelina!
Well - did he have enough repercussions for that crappy comment he made about Brad and Angelina? I think he must have!! Michael Dougas sat down with Extra and explained the situation and spoke of the apology he sent to Brad and Angelina:

Michael does reveal, however, that he wrote Brad and Angelina an apology anyway. “I consider him a good friend,” Douglas says, “and she does wonderful work for the United Nations, which is what I’m also involved in…There’s just a lot of pressure on the print media and they get to kind of exploitative quotes to try to attract people for their circulation, so it was unfortunate.”

He had to retract those statements because a lot of people wrote to the UN and GQ some not so nice things about him.We all wanted him kicked off the UN beleive me he got those Letters and they were ugly ,did he think we were gonna sit by and let him bash the kids and get away with it? NO.I mean I sent about a thousand emails alone and nasty ones too.So the next celeb that feels the need to bash my favourite family better watch out enough is enough,I guess he realized that there are tons of Brad and Angie fans out there that will eat him alive.

I wrote to the UN as well. This one really made me mad. Glad to hear he had to retract. Now I guess I’ll go see The Sentinel.

I think C.Zeta got on his case for losing her a shoe in succes movie which will be lucrative on Oceans 13.Now the rumors say AJ might fill in :) Ah, Brad! revenge is sometimes sweet. If MD was serious, why wait this long for an apology????

I think he said it myself, but like Jackie says above, the backlash was heavy. I didn’t send any correspondence and had no intentions of doing it, but plenty of others did, and that along with his new movie coming up I believe led to his changing his story.

I too believe that he said those words, whether it was on or off tape. What did the journalist suddenly had the inspiration of bashing BAMZ and blaming it on Douglas for no reason? Yeah right. Also he said it was “misquoted”–which in non-celebrity language means: “I said those words, but wish I hadn’t.”
Side topic: on Oprah today, Pink was on and she mentioned Angelina as one of the few smart women out there.

I see you had this article already …I never thought for one min he said it …it is just sucicide really for him to say anything like that since his wife worked with Brad and I believe it was all made up for a big reaction which it got………proof in here….. if you really think about it whyyyyyyyyyyy would anyone say that …it ws too far fetch…..

I don’t believe for a moment that MD didn’t say those words or something like them. He got in trouble (maybe even with his wife) and had to eat his words and apologize. And Susie, did Oprah react when Pink mentioned Angelina as “one of the smartest women”? Good for Pink!!

Laura, I think he very much DID say it, but there’s no taped verification and so it’s his word agianst there’s, and I think once he found that out, he saw a chance out of the backlash and took it. Just watching his backpeddling on tv today, his body langauge was quite guilty in my opinion; without true confidence, a lot of blinking and looking away from the interviewer who ALSO looked like she didn’t buy it either, and that’s my sotry and I’m sticking to it. It’s done, he’s cleared that air, his movie can come out without the cloud now.

Well according to Yahoo news GQ stands by their story 100% and Douglas is just trying to get publicity for his new movie.

Oh, he said it alright. I watched him on 4 of the entertainment shows and the man was squirming. He didn’t even say that he was misquoted. He said that Angie & Brad were never brought up during the interview. Yeah right. My question for MD is why did it take almost a month for you to clear your name? Its called backlash. I too wrote to the UN and GQ and my friends did also.

What portishead said! I saw him again on another show and he was squirming like a child lol. And the time length? I remember I saw him at some industry event “after the GQ quote” and he was speaking of couples acting in movies together, and the interviewer mentioned MAMS, and MD said something to the effect they didn’t count because no one knew. Now IMO, why didn’t he use the opportunity to clear things up right there? Because IMO he had not plans to, and it wasn’t until he was probably advised to change his tune he was fine with it all. I guess he learned that he wasn’t the big _hit he once was.

Like I said before I am new to this site, and I like it alot here, but let me know if I am out of line. See I have been at a post where you get 1K posts a thread but gets so nasty there is no adult debate to agree to disagree! OK,At this point we are all predicting, but everyone has to agree what BP and AJ are going thru is phenomenal stress caused by paps and magz.I have 3 kids, when you are this far along you are really tired and want to rest and feel secure. It should be the happiest time of their lives but all these lies and rumors should get to you. I am telling you I respect them more for not responding and sticking to their agenda and raising their family, they keep on letting Jen talk (real class act).They are together, waiting for their new bundle of joy to arrive and don’t care about anything else.When they are ready, my money is on D Sawyer for the exclusive, just my opinion :)

#12 Deb, Hi ya stranger! is that true that JA’s publicist’s brother runs GQ or is it the usual rumour mill? I am sorry, but at this point I don’t know what to believe. According to the rags mags, BP and AJ are separated and he is in US and she in France, they are fighting, she beats him up :) RIGHT!!!! They are in Africa having a grand old time enjoying their kids and waiting for BAMZ+1,so go figure how they come up with this stuff. I loved one site saying Brangelina will have the baby in France, Germany, Italy, Africa and added sorry we now guess it is on Venus :)

There is no bad publicity, especially in movie business, right?
MD wanted to be a headline because nobody is paying attention on him if he is not around with his beautiful wife. He used the best topic in the world which is BAMZ!
I am very sure that he also did receive a good polishing from his wife who worked and might work again wiht Brad and his friends.
And we have to just ignore MD, he is just an other old guy in Hollywood nowadays.

So why are BAMZ staying at at lion-guarded retreat in Africa? Are they just fed up with the papparazzi? I think Brad and Angelina are very smart…their seclusion and avoidance of the paparazzi is planned to drive up the cost of a picture of them as a family…when they are good and ready they will give a photo-op to a magazine(highest bidder!)and donate the money to charity. I say the pics will go for $1 million…maybe more…and I also say all the more power to BAMZ!! They are going to top even Bill Gates’ donations to charity (although apparently he has donated a total of $49 billion in his lifetime…OMG!

Well, he got attention now, didn’t he. Ha ha :) Nice to see that people can’t get away with crap like that. Murder yes, but saying mean things about Brad and Angelina - heck no. :)

I think that the reason why Michael Douglas said that about leaving ‘that beautiful woman’ was because as a part of a major celebrity couple he has been used to comparing himself and Catherine Z-J to Brad and Jen. I think without realising it he was thinking of what it would be like if he left his wife for another woman (he did used to be a serial womaniser) and thought that would be a crazy thing to do because he and Catherine have so much together in his eyes. Later I think he realised how unreasonable it was to criticise people who care for kids who have lost their parents through no fault of their own.

I’m still with all of you who think he said it, it got him in trouble and he’s trying to wriggle out. All those twitches in his tv inteviews. . .when these people goof up all they can do is deny. I’ll bet he said it and would give anything he hadn’t.

I agree with you folks that MD is losing it (or shall I say he lost it long ago). CZJ is pretty but shallow (just listen to any of her interviews).
Every hollywood couple out there wish that they could get the attention Brangelina is getting. Look at poor TomKat…they try so hard to remain in the public eye…all for the wrong reasons.
I never paid attention to Pitt nor to Jolie. But now that they are a couple I find myself going on line to add my 2 cents worth…amazing. By the way, I even wrote to the UN regarding MD comments.
