More on the pending Jolie-Pitt adoption
photo from people.com
People Magazine has a beautiful cover for the story about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s adoption from Vietnam. Reportedly, Angie is in the process of adopting a boy, likely between 3 and 5 years of age from the Tam Binh orphanage near Ho Chi Minh City.
A lot of people have said that she’s adopting too soon, but a source has pointed out that she’s only at the beginning of a very comprehensive and detailed process.
From a personal standpoint, I have seen a couple of people adopt as well, and it is indeed a lengthy process, so just because she’s started it recently does not mean a bouncing baby boy will show up on her door step by next week.
The article goes on to mention that Angelina spoke on Good Morning America in December and said that she had considered Vietnam after visiting several times and that she would like to balance things out so that there is another Asian person in the family for Maddox and another African person for Zahara - so clearly she intends to continue adopting.
The article says:
Soon they’ll return home to L.A., where Pitt will resume filming. Jolie, meanwhile, continues to speak out about the atrocities in Darfur as she awaits the phone call that will enable her to officially add to her brood. The good news can’t come soon enough. “I just want more kids,” she told PEOPLE recently. “I’m having a great time.”
I liked reading a little slice of life about the family about their walks through the French Quarter (perhaps it was the same day as their visit to the bakery with all the beautiful photos?):
Locals frequently spot them strolling through the French Quarter, buying baby clothes (a “Dirty South” T-shirt for Maddox, a black dress for Zahara and a hot-pink onesie for Shiloh) and dining out with Button costar Cate Blanchett.
The issue comes out on Friday on newsstands, so grab your copy if you want a better look at the awesome cover!

That is good that they will balance out their family racially. It is always best when you have a racially mixed family to live in racially mixed neighborhoods and if possible have more than one child of the same ethnic group, if different from parents. During development it is important to see people that look just like you and share similar experiences. If not, it can cause an identity problem. The American skiier Toby Dawson said he always felt isolated growing up in Coloroda as the only person of Koren decent. He said he always wanted to be white blond haired and blue eyed. Unfortunately, his parents thought of him as a white person with slanted eyes. Unfortunately, the world didn’t see it that way, and he was isolated and treated as being different.
Hopefully, with lots of nurturing, racial diversity and celebrating the different cultures in their home, the Jolie-Pitt family will be okay with who they are; simply a multiracial family.
I’m not sure what Brads ethnic backround is, but Angie’s is French German American, Madox is Cambodian American, Zahara is Ethiopian American, Shilou is Niabian American, and the newest addition will be Korean American. Interesting. This family should get booked for IKEA and Benneton Campaigns. They would be perfect.

Hi Kay,
Angie’s father, Jon Voyt is German and her mom, Marcheline Bertrand is French. Of course french people are often considered the gypsies of europe because many french people are mixed with noneuro blood such as indian, african and south asian blood. Angie’s cranial shape is definately germatic. However, her facial features reveal negroidal genetics such as her lips, cheeks and eye shape and nose position. Who knows maybe she does have indian and native american blood as well.

this is from AJ’s appearance on Ellen when Mad was two, but it is so sweet and does give insight on AJ’s view on adoption and why she’d like to do so from a variety of countries:

Marcheline was not French. She was Haudonesaunee (Iroquois) and French Canadienne. And give up the ‘cranial’ cr*p. Really, what are you, a 19th century phrenologist?
