No Golden Globe for Angelina Jolie
The results are in and unfortunately, Angelina Jolie did not win for best actress at the Golden Globes. The award went to Julie Christie for her role in Away From Her, which was somewhat expected after she won the Critics’ Choice Award for the same title.
That’s okay, Angelina has won Golden Globes and will likely win another in the future - and then we’ll get to see her accept it too! In the meantime, there are still Oscar nominations to wait for, among others.

I don’t know how appropriate the winnings are, because I have only AMH. I know I loved it and thought Angie was magical, but I cannot comment on the other performances.
HOWEVER I would have given her the award, ‘cos am a fan. Biaised??? Just a little. ;) hehehe.

last year was full ofreally beatifully acted roles… i imagine the decision was tough. I think Ive seen almost all the movies in the noms for best actress (the only one I haven’t seen is Elizabeth:Golden Age) but all of those women were amazing. Marion Cotillard and JUlie Christie were just phenomenal… while I loooove angie it wouldve been a tough choice

I saw AMH, Away From Her, La Vie En Rose, Juno, etc. So I have seen some of the performances. I think Julie Christie was really good, but I am not sure she deserves an Oscar. The guy who played her husband was much better. Angelina was also awesome in AMH, but I actually liked the guy called the General much, much more. Marion Cotillard was simply fabulous as Edith Piaf (even though I don’t think the film itself was as good as a lot of others or her performance). And the girl in Juno was wonderful (that was a really witty, funny and well acted movie). So to be honest, I am underwhelmed by the female nominees.
Now in the men’s categories, I was pulling so hard for Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises. I simply loved the movie and he’s a fantastic actor. I have not seen Sweeney Todd (hoping to go sometime this week) or No Country For Old Men (but am a huge fan of the Coen brothers work). I love Daniel Day Lewis as an actor, so I never deny him an award for his work (haven’t seen his film either).
The television wins is what really threw me off. I was a huge fan of The Tudors and Big Love. Sad to see zero wins there. I haven’t seen that show Californication yet. So I was quite unfamiliar with those nominees. I always thought it was the SAG awards that tend to be more liberal on recognizing the unfamiliar nominees, but this was really unexpected!!
Overall it was a shame- I missed the whole red carpet, long awards ceremony.

To passerby ……see La Vie En Rose and that french lady will knock your socks off. By far one of the best performances I have ever seen. She played Russell Crowes love intererst in A Good Year. She is amazing as Edith Piaf

She did have a tough competition this year. Just to be nominated is good enough, and at her age, she has already accomplished so much. I can’t really complain because I also love Julie Christie :)
Sherry, usually I won’t say anything but my posts are awaiting moderation in the other post “the Jolie-Pitt family at Chuck-E Cheese.” Sunshine’s back, and as usual, spreading her nega-vibe.

NO QUESTION…Angie was robbed! She reeeeally deserves an award and recognition for her performance in A Mighty Heart. Her performance was subtle, strong, dignified, heartwrenching and verrrry complicated to pull off since the person she is portraying is a REAL person and still alive! The whole project could have gone terribly wrong in a lot of ways, and everyone had to be sensitive to the serious political/emotional issues involved in the story, not to mention the pressure she received from people who questioned her taking on the role of an ethnic woman and the stupid tabloid stuff that follows her and Brad everywhere! NONE of the other actresses had to deal with this type of pressure…so she DEFIINITELY deserves honors.

I have to agree I have no qualms about the Best Actor section. Daniel Day Lewis is always award worthy.

I am proud of Ange win or lose, she gives all herself the performance of a lifetime, she is the best in my eyes, she got so many good competitors maybe next year for “Changeling”. Remember, the movie was directed by Clint Eastwood & she is the main character I bet that’s another nomination for her.
Have to go guys, need to go to work.God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

Neela I agree with you Unknown = Faryal, she try’s to slip thru with other names, but there is no mistaking this very unhappy, sick person.

Mary Ann, there’s no mistaking it :) Oh well, we’ve seen weirdos, antis, and whiners come on this site and try to rile us up. It’s sad, but it does say a lot about the appeal of the JP’s :) Even people who don’t like them tune in to them.

I wonder where the Jolie-Pitt’s are, some fans at JJ said, they are probably in Spain for the conference tomorrow in Madrid. We will find out tomorrow.
Goodnight. God bless .
