Oprah on Brangelina (maybe)

by Christina on March 21st, 2006

Jennifer and Oprah chew the fat (and drink the champagne!)

According to EntertainmentWise (and Star):

Chat show host Oprah Winfrey has vowed never to have Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on her show as couple to her friend Jennifer Aniston.

Oprah who is a good friend of Aniston’s (despite the whole ‘A Million Little Pieces’ affair) has promised not to help publicise Brangelina.

According to Star magazine Oprah believes that Aniston has handled the break in a “tasteful” manner while Brad has just been a big show off.

A friend told the mag: “Oprah sees herself as on of Jen’s best public advocates - the captain of Team Aniston.”

And although having Brangelina on her show would pull in huge ratings the friend admitted: “I don’t think she wants anything to do with them anymore.”

Whatcha think?  Magazines desperate to sell papers?

17 opinions for Oprah on Brangelina (maybe)

The truth is that she supported JA on her show, she even invited her and her friends to spend the night in her mansion, didn´t she?

    I don´t know…I´m a skeptical by nature, so everything is possible… *shrugs* But I hope Oprah isn´t so biased…

I definitely think she is a Team Aniston-er, but I find it really hard to believe that she would go as far as Star “Magazine” says she has.

I don’t believe it. The Star is all I needed to see to come to that conclusion, but also, Oprah is a business woman first lol, and if the opportunity arose, you best believe she’d jump at it in a heartbeat. Now, on the flipside of it all, I’d be a little surprised if Angelina or Brad show up for a long while, but never say never. Both have projects coming out, and I could see “The Good Sheperd” cast on her show, and that would include Angelina…

I’ve commented on this somewhere else. Oprah’s bias bothers me. She simply doesn’t really know the whole story. She’s human and has a right to her opinion but she has a lot of influence and should be more responsible. . .that is, of course, if this whole story is true.

Agree with both of you - and I am more than sure this is made up baloney, like so much of the rest. :)

But does it really matter? Whether the story is just made up or not, I can believe that Oprah is team Aniston. She has said that she only wants people on the show she is interested in because it’s her show and she can do whatever she wants. And you can bet that Jen poured her heart out to Oprah and she ate it up like ice-cream. But, Oprah is only one of many, many people in Hollywood on Team Aniston. Not surprising really.

I believe there are many, many people in Hollywood on Team Aniston, but I doubt any of them will take the side in public, except Aniston’s close friends. The truth is hundreds of show hosts will kill to have Brad or Angie on their shows, especially after they keep the silence for a long time. Since Aniston hasn’t got any box office hits by herself yet, they won’t trade 2 A-lists for a struggling actress. It’s Hollywood, in the end, it’s all about money.

If Oprah does boycott Brad and Angie in public, the only one losing here is Oprah herself. Even if Oprah is the power lady in Hollywood, she is old and has to face more and more challenges from the young generation. I don’t think she can afford a big loss like that.

I agree Alexis, I thing although she is entitled to her opinion like everyone else she´s in a position where she has no maneuver space. If she keeps going like this, people will start (if they aren´t already) loosing some respect for her, as an example to look for.

About this “Team Aniston” support. I’m not one who believes Angelina Jolie had anything to do with the breakup, and IMO, there’s way to much proof out there supporting that the marriage had been on seriously shaky ground long before AJ/BP even met. That said, it seems some would prefer to believe what they want instead of checking the history of the relationship, and that leads me to the question(s):

“Is it less that he didn’t wait to move on (why should he have?) and more about WHO he moved on with that’s caused this backlash against him, and this support of Jennifer Aniston?”

“If it was anyone but Angelina Jolie that Brad was with now, would their even be a Team Aniston?”

IMO, if the “Golden Couple” had simply brokenup, or, if Brad had picked a more conventional woman to be with such as Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow (if they were both single) What would the reaction?

Or maybe someone like Sienna Miller, or Hallie Berry, Naomi Watts, Renee Zellweiger, Nicole Kidman, or even if he chose someone less known, would there be as much loud/silent support for Jennifer Aniston if Brad Pitt were now with one of the aforementioned and not Angelina?

    Christina, is this poll worthy?

Bamz9LOVE, I think your comments are very reasonable and I bet there’s a lot of truth to it. Angelina is not popular with the mainstream and has been viewed with a certain disdain because of all the things we all know about. Frankly, I think she deserves so much respect for the changes she has made and all the good values she has given proof to through the way she is living now. Why Oprah Winfrey doesn’t see this and wont give her credit sort of astounds me (if this is the case which it sounds like it is). As I’ve repeated on so many posts. . .noone knows the whole truth here. My husband is a marriage counselor and I happen to KNOW—-it is NEVER one person’s fault. A good marriage can’t be wrecked by a homewrecker. And I do think your question is pollworthy–just my opinion.

JLS, someone said look at it like back HS

“Brad was the Jock and his girlfriend was Jen the cheerleader. Together they embodied all the things other kids wanted to be (homecoming king/queen, best smile, best dressed, best hair, best, best tan, best teeth, best best best best! Well, Brad met Angelina the Goth girl, she enlighted him, he got real, they fell in love, they bought matching motorcycle boots….no more jock & the cheerleader.

I dont think anyone should have Brangelina on their show to promote any upcoming movies unless the interviewer will be allowed to ask them the questions that we all want to know, but of course everyone will have to sign confidentiality agreements stating that they won’t ask any personal questions….They are cowards IMHO

I think Oprah probably knows more of the real reasons for the breakup of the Pitts marriage then we will ever possibly know. I also think Jennifer has handle the situation as tactfully as possible considering how it has been broadcast across the globe. Whether their realtionship started before Mr. Pitt was divorced or not really doesn’t matter today; though it seems hard to image a person getting a divorce and impregnating another woman before his divorce was final and then stating that he was not at all emotionally involved with her during his marriage.
