Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at Directors Guild Awards – photos!
January 31, 2010 by Sherry
Last night, Saturday January 30th, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie attended the prestigious Directors Guild Awards. Brad was presenting Quentin Tarantino and naturally Angelina was there with Brad.
Angelina wore a strapless green gown and Brad wore his usual Tom Ford suit. Below we see Angelina signing something for someone in a notebook.
I’m hoping to find some video footage of Brad doing the presentation for Quentin.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at Directors Guild Awards!
January 31, 2010 by Sherry
I don’t have any photos available yet and it’s past midnight in my neck of the woods so I’m off to bed now, BUT there is a definite sighting of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Directors Guild Awards tonight! Apparently Brad was to be one of the presenters. E! Online has a brief write-up saying Brad and Angie look perfectly happy.
I’ll get some photos up myself tomorrow as they become available, but what a great thing to see right before heading off to bed!

New photos of a smiling Zahara Jolie-Pitt
January 29, 2010 by Sherry
Over at X17Online today there are a few new photos of Zahara Jolie-Pitt which were apparently snapped as she was on her way home from school. Rather than getting right up in her face in an invasive manner, these were taken from a bit of a distance – you can tell because Zahara is smiling instead of being bothered by the paparazzi. I’m glad to know that.
What I love about these new photos though is that it shows to me that Zahara was on her way to a happy home. Go check out the photos* and tell me if that looks like a little girl with a family that’s coming apart. In my opinion, no it does not.
I love seeing Zahara Jolie-Pitt smiling!
* Usual words of warning – This is X17Online so the article is snarky in tone. And if you care about your blood pressure don’t read the comments because as always, they are nasty.

More debunking of the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie rumors
January 28, 2010 by Sherry
There’s been more official debunking of the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie rumors in the past couple of days. First of all, People.com wrote something that I thought was absolutely hilarious and really very fitting, all things considered. According to them, Brad and Angelina were enjoying a quiet dinner together when the split-up rumors first started up like wildfire. I don’t know about you but in all the times I’ve broken up with someone, I’ve never gone out to a quiet dinner with that person shortly after the fact!
I just think it’s so perfect that Brad and Angelina were out on a date together when the firestorm started!
Meanwhile, TMZ – who, I might add, have never shied away from trying to start trouble – even debunked the whole mystery around Brad’s real estate “cave” purchase. The story is that Brad had just bought a house next door to the one he currently shares with Angelina, with the home being described as having a built-in cave in the basement. The rumors that surrounded this new house was that it was going to be a bachelor pad so that Brad and Angie could split up while still living close enough that they could both see the kids at all times.
Um, no. According to TMZ, that house was actually purchased back in August 2009 which is way before any of this garbage started swirling around. Also, they explained that the reason Brad bought the house was so he could expand the sprawling estate he and Angelina already own. He’s certainly not the first celebrity to do that!
I actually wondered if maybe the house will have anything to do with wine. I’m not sure what this cave could be used for in other ways, but I did immediately think (especially after seeing the photos on TMZ’s site) that a cave in the basement would make an excellent wine cellar, complete with space to have a wine-tasting party in an interesting atmosphere.
Seeing that People is continuing to debunk the rumors didn’t surprise me, but TMZ is heavy on the paparazzi and gossip love. If even TMZ is standing up for Brad and Angelina then you know there’s something very wrong with the original rumor!
(I read both of these yesterday but I didn’t want to post anything to take away from the beautiful video of Marcheline Bertrand on the anniversary of her death. The video has been removed from YouTube with a thank you, but I’ve added another clip that Entertainment Tonight used if you missed it. Notice she doesn’t even bring the rumors up AT ALL. Good for her!)
Video: Angelina Jolie & James Haven with Marcheline Bertrand
January 26, 2010 by Sherry
Since January 27th is sadly the anniversary (what a word to have to use) of the untimely death of Angelina Jolie’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand I wanted to share this home video of Marcheline with Angelina and Angie’s brother James Haven.
We see the three of them in Hawaii with Marcheline and Angelina dancing on the beach and later see Marcheline carrying her daughter.
It’s been said before but especially in this video I have to say that Angelina is absolutely the spitting image of her mother. It’s almost startling to see Marcheline and remember that it’s not Angie!
From what I can see in these clips, Marcheline was a very care-free mother, having fun with her children, laughing and dancing, and just enjoying life with them. From what I’ve seen over the years, Angelina is the same kind of mother. I wonder what home videos of the Jolie-Pitt home would show – probably just as much fun and life!
No wonder Angelina grew up to have so much love and compassion for children. After all, just look at who raised her!
Thank you Vivian for sharing this clip with me so I could post it here!
EDIT: The video has been removed, with a heartfelt thank you to viewers who left nice comments. It has been retired to the family’s archives. If you missed it, you can see part of it in this Entertainment Tonight clip:
Hope For Haiti Now raises record-breaking funds
January 25, 2010 by Sherry
Time for some important news instead of the crazy rumor mill fodder!

On Friday night Brad Pitt took part in the “Hope For Haiti Now” fundraiser that was essentially organized by George Clooney. If you missed the telethon (which was absolutely wonderful by the way, and which had me sobbing for two straight hours), you can see Brad’s speech right over here. The story that he told about a musician in Jacmel was beautiful and touching.
News has been released that Hope For Haiti Now has broken records by raising a staggering $57 million, a number that is still steadily climbing thanks to the fact that you can still donate online if you missed the opportunity to do so on Friday. You can also donate there even if you’re not a U.S. resident.
The $57 million also doesn’t take into consideration any donations that were made by corporate organizations. The final total will also have to look at how much fundraising occurred courtesy of people downloading the performances via iTunes. Once they add in those two sources as well as the money continuing to pour in, George Clooney’s Hope For Haiti Now will be a huge success and an incredible amount of relief for the people in Haiti. Everyone at PittWatch who donated – either to this telethon or one of the other numerous charity organizations who are helping Haiti – should truly pat themselves on the back for being so amazing.
I’m very happy that Brad Pitt was a part of the telethon and that Brad and Angelina both donated a large sum to Doctors Without Borders shortly after the tragic earthquake hit.
(I’ve been informed that PittWatch was mentioned on radio station MIX 100 in Denver, Colorado this morning. Thanks to the DJs, and welcome to all the new Denver readers!)

Perez Hilton discusses the non-truth of the Brad and Angelina split rumor
January 25, 2010 by Sherry
If you talk to people about Perez Hilton you’ll find people tend to love him or hate him. I don’t always like everything he says but more often than not I find he’s pretty good and avoids gossip nonsense. He’s also very pro-Angelina Jolie and seems to love Brad and Angelina together. As a result, he’s not grabbing the proverbial bull by the horns and further spreading the whole break-up rumor (which has been refuted anyway). In fact, he spoke to CBS’ Early Show this morning about why it’s not true:
Love him or hate him, you have to admit that his willingness to stand up for Brad and Angelina is admirable!
In related news, the major gossip sites are continuing to trickle in with their own denials of this whole load of nonsense. TMZ tells everyone to “back away from the ledge” because Brad and Angelina are still together, and Lainey put together a very good post on why it’s such big business to write false break-up stories relating to Brad and Angelina.
And that’s about it. Stay tuned because I’ll have a Brad Pitt post up later today that has nothing to do with so-called break-ups! Besides, with people still dying and struggling to survive in Haiti, it’s pretty ridiculous that a false break-up story is overshadowing the important news on this planet.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie representatives shoot down break-up rumors
January 24, 2010 by Sherry
Earlier today I posted to reassure those of you who were expressing concerns over Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s alleged break-up. I received so many comments and emails that I addressed those concerns in this post.
To further lay your minds at ease, JustJared just issued a statement from Brad & Angelina’s rep saying that they have NOT split up.
Deep breaths folks. Like I said earlier, this story is recycled on a near-constant basis and has been around for five non-stop years.
If you’re on Twitter please take a moment to follow PittWatch to keep on top of the news and updates!

Brad & Angelina: The split-up rumor heard around the world.
January 24, 2010 by Sherry
Wow. So it’s the weekend, and I went out to enjoy a wonderful evening with friends and food and wine. Then I came home, watched a movie with my husband (interestingly, it was Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life which was playing on TV last night), and went to bed. Being a lazy Sunday with terrible weather forecasts, I curled up on the couch with my kids and a book. Not once did I imagine that while I was out or sleeping there was a mass panic in PittWatch comments!
The “News of the World” (and I do use “news” loosely) has apparently reported that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have seen a divorce lawyer because they’ve officially split up (which is fascinating since they aren’t married). Some other outlets have picked up on this story and are seemingly claiming that it’s been confirmed as fact – from comments I’ve read this morning, various radio stations and the like have all jumped on the bandwagon.
Please. This is News of the World. It’s a massive tabloid. It’s like the UK version of The National Enquirer. It does the typical quoting of an unnamed “source” who claims to have insider information about Brad and Angelina. The sources are unnamed because they don’t exist or because they aren’t people who would actually be privy to that sort of detail. They also leave it very open-ended by claiming that there’s no set date as to when this will take effect – essentially covering their sad little behinds if this all fizzles out.
Meanwhile, News of the World is also using snippets from other sources that were never confirmed either. On top of that it grasps at straws by saying that it must clearly be true because Brad went to a game with his son instead of attending an awards show where he was not nominated anyway.
In the meantime, major news outlets – new outlets that actually do research – have not said a word about this so-called Brad and Angelina break-up. Neither People nor CNN have reported about this, and seriously if these two split up it will be top headline news on People and in the Entertainment section of CNN.
JustJared hasn’t even reported about it, nor has Lainey. Even if it’s the weekend, believe me when I say that Lainey would be into work and covering this if it was backed up by any factual evidence. TMZ hasn’t said a peep about this Brad and Angelina news. Perez Hilton who loves a good controversial and exciting story has even taken the time to reassure people that they shouldn’t believe the rumors.
This is Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Because of the fact that many people don’t like the way that they got together five years ago, there have been break-up stories constantly for five years straight. Sometimes they’re small stories and sometimes they blow up huge like this one. Remember when it was a huge story in June 2009 as well?
Is it possible? Of course it is, it’s always possible. I never imagined Bruce Willis and Demi Moore would split up back in the day and yet they did. Brad and Angelina are not magical mythical creatures and they are susceptible to the same stresses and strains that break up happy couples all over the world every single day.
However, based on the “source”, that is News of the World, based on the fact that no reliable media outlets have reported this so-called story, and based on the fact that we have gone through five years of hearing that they’ve ended their relationship, I’m saying to take a deep breath. Unless someone reliable starts reporting it or unless Brad and Angelina issue a statement, I’d say we can just ignore the rumors.
Brad Pitt’s commentary at the Hope For Haiti Now telethon
January 22, 2010 by Sherry
While I didn’t see Brad Pitt answering phones at the Hope For Haiti Now telethon – there were so many celebrities and athletes there that you couldn’t possibly see them all – he also delivered a speech in front of the cameras which was very moving.
(That photo is not from tonight, I will see if I can find one later.)
He talked about another Haitian city, Jacmel, which is south of Port-Au-Prince, and was also hit very hard by the earthquake. Brad told the story of a musician who stood in the middle of the road, destroyed buildings around him, and he played guitar, playing for his fellow musicians who had died. He then implored viewers to donate what they could to help Haiti.
Here’s the video clip of Brad for Hope For Haiti Now:
The entire telethon was wonderful. There were some amazing, heartfelt performances of very inspirational songs (I was particularly impressed by Justin Timberlake singing “Hallelujah”) and there were so many heartbreaking yet uplifting stories told by the celebrities.
I think that all the celebs at the telethon deserve a round of applause, but I give a standing ovation to George Clooney for working so hard to get Hope For Haiti Now up and running so quickly. Nice job.
