Brad Pitt Body Wash now available - Brad back in L.A.!

Are you ready to scrub up with Brad Pitt?

brad-pitt-wash_sp.jpg

Awhile back, I wrote about how Brad Pitt teamed up with Kiehl’s for their Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser. The product is now available and should sell pretty well with a a nice photo of Brad to attract attention! How many women do you suppose will be more than happy to buy a body wash he endorses? Now you can take Brad into your shower!

In other news, we now know the question as to where Brad has been while Angelina Jolie was in the U.S. to present Clint Eastwood with his award at the Hollywood Film Festival. Naturally, the rumor mongers and tabloids said that clearly Brad and Angelina were splitting up, since they were spending so much time apart. After all, Brad has been in Berlin, filming Inglourious Basterds, right? Well, they must feel silly this morning because Brad has also been in Los Angeles, he just managed to avoid paparazzi for awhile for a change.

He was spotted - and photographed - leaving an office building in Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard. He got into his car and left, managing to only attract a small amount of camera attention.

You can see some photos of Brad Pitt in his car in L.A. over here.

Angelina Jolie’s Hollywood Film Festival Awards style

12th Annual Hollywood Film Festival's Awards Gala - Show

I know there are quite a few of you who are fashionistas (or at least enjoy fashion!) and always want to know who and what Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are wearing at various events and outings.

Courtesy of FabSugar, I found out that although it looked like Angelina was wearing a simple, long black gown, she was actually wearing two separate pieces. The top is by Karen Zambos, and the skirt is Alexis LaMontagna. The look ended up being so seamless that it looked like one dress.

Nice!

Angelina Jolie presents director award to Clint Eastwood

12th Annual Hollywood Film Festival's Awards Gala - Show

Angelina Jolie attended the Hollywood Film Festival’s Gala Ceremony last night in Beverly Hills. She was accompanied by director Clint Eastwood, who was honored with the director of the year award - Angelina was the one who presented him with the award.

During the presentation, Angelinasaid:

“There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they’ll live up to what we imagine them to be. And Clint Eastwood in person is even better… Clint is what every great director should be. He is a great leader. And I certainly would follow him anywhere.”

Upon accepting the award, Clint Eastwood then said:

“Working with someone like Angelina Jolie is a great privilege, because you get to look on that gorgeous beauty every day. And she’s a great talent.”

(Thank you, Angela, for the two quotes!)

Angelina looked beautiful in a simple long black dress. I’m really liking her hair this color as well.

Changeling pulled in more than $300,000 last weekend; while that’s not a huge amount, it’s very impressive considering that it only opened in a very limited number of theaters. It’s off to a good start for its official opening this coming Friday.

More photos of Angelina Jolie presenting Clint Eastwood with the director of the year award at the ceremony below the cut.

New Brad Pitt as Benjamin Button photos!

Over at Film-o-Filia, there are three new photos of Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. One appears to be when Benjamin is more or less the same age as Brad himself. Another shows him quite a bit older with long, gray hair and a receding hairline. I’m always so impressed when hair, make-up, and technology can make a character look drastically older or younger than the actual actor is.

In my previous post where I put up another trailer of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, reader JW was curious as to whether it’s really Brad in all the scenes. In response, BlessBrangelina mentioned that the director, David Fincher, used a special kind of technology to essentially put Brad’s face on other bodies at different ages, whether it’s a little baby or an old man.

Curious (no pun intended!), I looked it up and found that it’s called the Contour system, and there’s an interesting explanation of it over here if you’d like to learn a bit more about how it works.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Trailer from Rotten Tomatoes

This trailer for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button over at Rotten Tomatoes overlaps with some of the ones we’ve already seen but there are a few moments that are new, so I thought I would share it with you. After all, a little extra Brad Pitt in your day never hurt anyone, right?

I’m really interested in seeing the full story played out!

ET Online video coverage of Angelina Jolie’s trip to Afghanistan

Courtesy of the UNHCR, ET Online shared some video footage from Angelina Jolie’s trip to Afghanistan this week.

Narrated by Angelina, it’s a powerful view into the lives of the Afghan refugees. When asked what they need, they told her “everything”. When asked what type of work they are seeking, they said, “anything”. It’s a striking contrast to the first world.

How she can get through all those visits without just sobbing hysterically, I will never know.

Angelina Jolie wraps up trip to Afghanistan

Angelina Jolie Participates in UN World Refugee Day

Clearly Angelina Jolie has not been sitting around her home in Berlin, wondering about how Changeling will do at the box office. That’s because she was too busy for idle thought - Angelina just wrapped up a two-day visit to Afghanistan. I had no idea she had even been planning on going, and that’s a good thing because it means the trip was kept very quiet, which is much better for her safety.

According to the UNHCR, Angelina viewed the current humanitarian situation so she could appeal for further international support, especially as they head towards Winter, where their needs will be even more critical.

Kabul is hosting an international conference in November to discuss how to strengthen and improve the humanitarian status in Afghanistan, so Angie’s visit was well-timed and important. Although she had visited with Afghan refugees in Pakistan twice before, it was her first trip into Afghanistan itself.

After visiting several areas of the country, Angelina said:

“The courage, resilience and quiet dignity of returnee families rebuilding their lives against the kind of adversity few of us can imagine shows the human spirit at its best.”

Many of the refugees have returned to Afghanistan since being displaced, but they’ve had to face a great deal of difficulty as they congregate in large numbers in limited, harsh spaces. Due to ongoing land disputes, economic turmoil, and unrest, few have been able to return to their previous homes. Meanwhile, about 3 million Afghan refugees are still scattered throughout parts of Pakistan and Iran and will require a great deal of help from the UNHCR to return to their own country. Angelina said:

“Afghanistan has been struggling to absorb these massive returns. It’s understandable. It’s one of the largest population movements in recent history.”

As a result, she is calling on the international community to commit to long-term recovery efforts and particularly to urgent aid before Winter hits.

Read the entire UNHCR write-up here.

I am so happy to know that even with a growing family, a film to promote, and Brad Pitt’s filming schedule in Berlin, Angelina has not lost site of the issues that are important to her.

(Photo above is from the UNHCR’s World Refugee Day conference in 2003 - as of yet there have been no photos of her visit to Afghanistan although the UNHCR site will probably have some up soon.)

Getting a look at Brad Pitt’s Tree of Life

Tree of Life is somehow the most secretive movie I’ve ever heard of. For a long time no one even seemed to really know what the heck it was about other than Brad Pitt has a role in it. The site awardsdaily.com has the first look at a couple of photos from Tree of Life, including one of Brad with what is presumably his character’s family. Check out the photo here!

The basic gist of the story seems to be that it follows a boy named Jack from age eleven up through manhood, set at some point in the 1940s. It deals with Jack’s journey through life as he goes from living a happy and pleasant life to experiencing the pain of seeing sickness, suffering, and death. It doesn’t sound like an action movie, more of a story, although Brad does wear a military uniform so there may be some war scenes at some point.

Below the cut is a personal story from the woman who played the body double of the pregnant wife. I remember reading it when she first posted it to imdb.com and thought it was hilarious because when she went in to shoot the scene she had no idea that it was going to be with Brad Pitt touching her pregnant belly. Can you imagine showing up on set for “some movie” and you find out Brad Pitt is there?!

Fun Facts about Changeling

angelina jolie changeling

Since Angelina Jolie’s new movie Changeling opens next week (and in limited theaters this week!), I thought I would share some fun facts about the film that reader Ligaya passed along. When I see a movie, one of the first things I do is go to imdb.com to check out the trivia/facts about it, so I loved reading this.

Angelina had to learn to roller skate while wearing high heels for scenes at the telephone exchange, a documented practice of the period.

(Roller skating in high heels?? Can you imagine?)

• Eastwood sometimes asked Jolie to play a scene quietly, as if just for him. At the same time he would ask his cameraman to start filming discreetly, without Jolie’s seeing it. Some of these takes made it into the completed film.

• Amy Ryan cited the filming of a fight scene during which Eastwood showed her “how to throw a movie punch” as her favorite moment of the production.

• “One day we were shooting a scene where [Collins and Briegleb] talk about her case… We started shooting at 9:30 a.m. and it was seven or eight pages, which is usually an 18-hour day. Around 2:30, [Eastwood] goes, ‘That’s lunch and that’s a wrap.’… I’ve made close to 100 films now and that’s certainly a phrase I’ve never heard in my entire life.” —John Malkovich discusses Eastwood’s famously economical directorial style, which extended to Changeling’s set.

• To ensure the veracity of the story, writer Straczynski incorporated quotes from the historical record and direct testimony directly into the script.

• The film was still in post-production one week before the start of the Cannes Film Festival.

I am very eager to go see this. I won’t be able to see it on opening night since it’s also Halloween and I’ll be taking my kids trick-or-treating. However, I’m hoping to go see it over the weekend with my husband because I’d like to contribute to the box office numbers. Hopefully it can hit number one, but even if it doesn’t every viewer helps.

Really though, with Angelina Jolie, Clint Eastwood, and John Malkovich all teamed up, how could you go wrong?

Speaking of fun, I also wanted to share a video that reader isacutie wrote about. Her friend draws Angelina Jolie on the computer and it’s quite stunning to watch - go check it out!

So let’s see a raise of hands - who’s going to see Changeling at the advanced screenings in select cities this Friday, the 24th and who’s going to see it over official opening weekend between October 31st and November 2nd?

Angelina Jolie at the Symposium on International Law and Justice

On Friday, October 17th, Angelina Jolie was the introductory speaker at the Symposium on International Law and Justice in New York City. The session in question was in regards to Darfur, which has been close to Angie’s heart for quite some time. The Council on Foreign Relations mentioned that the symposium is made possible through the regular support of the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

Check out the full five-plus-minute video of the speech given by Angelina Jolie. I love that she’s more than just a talented actress and more than just a loving mother, she’s someone who keeps standing up to try to make the world a better place.

There’s also a write up over here which is somewhat annoying because a) it’s titled “She’s Actually Smart” (um, no kidding?) and b) it manages to mention Jennifer Aniston in the second paragraph (let.it.go. I’m sure Jenn would really like the world to stop bringing it up). But hey, you take what you can get, right?

I was particularly affected by the quote Angelina made after saying, “I believe there’s no enduring peace without justice.” She went on to drive the point home by stating:

“After seven years in the field I have a lot to learn, but I do know that no mother who had her children killed in front of her, no young girl sold into slavery, no boy kidnapped and forced to be a child soldier, no young girl, like the three year old I saw with her limbs cut off, should be expected to forget. No one should have to choose between peace and justice.”

Well said.
