People won the Jolie-Pitt baby battle
According to JustJared, People magazine is the winner in the bids to get the first official photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s new babies, Knox and Vivienne.
It’s not like we would have expected anything else - PittWatch readers know full well that Brad and Angelina have a good relationship with People.
Numbers in the double digits are still being tossed around - between $10 and $15 million. We’ll probably never know for sure. No one has ever confirmed any amounts ever paid to any celebrities for their baby photos, so it’s total speculation.
Thus far, it’s not certain which issue of People will have the coveted Knox and Vivienne cover, but keep an eye out!
Also, and I thought this was cute, someone from Food and Wine contacted me this morning to let me know that they have put together a list for Brad and Angelina of restaurants to accommodate larger families, as well as some recipes. It made me smile to read a nice, kid-centric list of food and restaurants that wouldn’t be shocked by a family of eight people.
Now, to wait for the People issue to come out!

People got the first Shiloh shots, so it’s probably true. And it was about three weeks after she was born (May 27) that we got those shots (June 19) so, hopefully not to much longer for the twins…

Agree with Margaritam. Since the site making the announcement is aligned with US Magazine, wait until confirmation. US swore they were selling the “bump” pictures, which never happened. Better People than the others, but still not until the photos show up will I believe it.

(JustJared is officially aligned with Us Weekly!?!?!? Wow - why’d he do that?)
Everybody’s on the Jolie-Pitt wagon. The Food and Wine article is cute, especially when they referred to the kids. I was disappointed in the San Francisco section which listed just 2 restaurants. In foodie heaven, there are a bazillion great family-friendly restaurants.
Angelina and Brad landed on Vanity Fair’s 2008 International Best Dressed List. (Someone said they were on the 2007 list too.) The picture they chose was the green dress in Cannes.
According to the L.A. Times: “My theory is that great audience-connecting stars have a capacity for joy…Angelina Jolie, probably the biggest female star in the world at the moment, who does bad-girl glee like no one else.” I have URL if anyone wants it - a very interesting article called “A big summer for the seasoned stars.”

I’m looking forward to seeing the photos but these amounts of money are just ridiculous. I really wish it would end instead of getting worse and worse.

News from Japan to Sherry and Pittwatch fans.
I got the newest issue of AERA (Newsweek type of magazine in Japan) and I found a very positive article about Angie and Brad.
In their 2 pages feature the reporter mentioned Sherry and Pittwatch.
” Sherry Osborne who lives in Canada has a popular fan blog named Pittwatch and their fans come to her blog and exchange their opinions.”
And the reporter introduced 3 comments from the thread ” why we are so fascinated by Angie and Brad”
I very appriciated that article because it based on the fact only. I wonder how the reporter found this site.

People magazine even denied the report $4.1 mil for Shiloh pics. They said it was less than that. I don’t believe unreliable gossipers words.
They always love the extreme number.
I don’t know whether People is the one who got twins photos but I thought US weekly was so jealous and made up a story to devalue the twin’s birth. US did it again as they did when Shiloh phots went to People.

Sherry, Wow that Pittwatch has been noticed and talked about in a newspaper in Japan. I notice that our community has grown so the word is spreading. As for People doing the baby pictures I am thrilled. I let all my other magazine subscriptions run out and now only get People. I feel that they are the only fair and honest paper out there.

It’s interesting to speculate. I can’t see any other magazine getting the pictures, though. Hopefully OK doesn’t get them, although they seem to been getting a lot of new baby photoshoots lately (Jamie Lynn Spears, Jessica Alba, Matthew McConaughey, Tori Spelling). Maybe that means they’ve used up their baby ‘budget’ already! Perhaps People has been saving up for the Jolie-Pitts and let the others go. But I don’t find the photoshoots or interviews in OK to be as classy as People, so fingers crossed they get it.
Hope the international rights are announced soon. The spread in UK’s Hello was simply gorgeous for Shiloh’s baby pics - I picked up a copy of that along with the local version, just because the pictures were so huge and beautiful. Last time New Idea got the rights in Australia, but I hope that it’s someone different this time.
Can’t wait to see little Knox and Vivienne’s faces!

Sunny thanks for the information about the article on Angie and Brad and Sherry’s site. Good to see that a journalist could find a positive website and read the comments. Just when you think there is no professionalism left in media, a ray of sunshine. Could you tell us where the article is? Thanks to Sherry for this site, I am happy her good work is noticed, we (fans) are very grateful for the work she does here.

It’s nice that Pittwatch is mentioned in a Japanese newspaper. Sherry, congratulations! Thanks for your great work to keep this site so clean and friendly.
I’m glad People has rights to the pictures. I don’t know if I can get a copy in Vietnam. If not, I will probably ask my friend in the US to mail it to me.

The only valid magazines for reading about the rich and famous are in my opinion people and hello. I like hello a bit better because of its size and layout. I also like that they report on the goings on of royal families around the world. The real royal families the one born into it. I was also thinking I haven’t seen this much hype about a family (Jolie-Pitt’s) since DI and Charles. The English royal family must love the fact that the Jolie-Pitts have taken the spot light from them for awhile, well at least until William announces his engagement then the light will shift back full force. I am sure the Jolie-Pitt’s wish for this every day.

Wow! Congratulations, Sherry! Thanks for the info, Sunny. I looked up Aera on the internet but I didn’t find the current issue. San Francisco has a Japanese bookstore, I’ll look for that issue this weekend. In the meantime, would you please let us know the gist of the comments? Thanks.

Thanks for the congratulations everyone! The editor actually contacted me in the hopes of doing a telephone interview with me, but it was a short deadline and unfortunately it was for the day my daughter had her surgery so I didn’t even read about the opportunity until the day after.
They’re mailing me a copy so I can check it out. I’ll scan it when I get it, but sometimes Canada Post is a bit like the pony express (in other words, slooooow) so it may be awhile before it gets here from Japan. I’m really excited!

No surprise that People got the deal…..HURRAY to all those lucky charities who will benefit from the millions of dollars! I absolutely love that the J-P’s can take back some control over their lives & images to be able to do such a wonderful thing for charity. This is truly a win-win situation for all.

Ligaya, I am going to go with the number 25 new members in Japan. But it will probably end up being alot more than that. I think it is great that so many feel as we do that this is a fun and interesting place to come to everyday. We all have one thing in common and that is our admiration for the Jolie-Pitts and great comments that are done with respect for each other.

Don’t click on this if you don’t want to see a savage attack against the Jolie-Pitts. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/2474171/Brad-Pitt-and-Angelina-Jolie-fans-satirised-in-religious-artwork.html
I post it only as evidence of the vicious h8te against the JPs; I like to know what I’m up against. This is NOT satire. Satire is more even-handed and not so personal.
The artist claims he was motivated by anger at the “raving insanity” of the Brangeloonies. OK, but get this (he has this totally backwards - he must not spend much time on comment boards):
“Another curious trait of the Brangeloonie is the nearly unanimous vitriol aimed at Jennifer Aniston. Brad and Jen divorced 3 years ago, but in the snarling eyes of the Brangeloonie, somehow she’s still an unwilling player,” wrote the artist, who runs the Gallery of the Absurd parody website.
I’ve got half a mind to go to his website and post a comment, but then he’d get what he really wants - clicks on his website.

(Do you think “part-time humanitarians” was a dig? I do, the JPs could have been described part-time actors as well.)
You got your wish, Kim. :-)
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/
In a celebrity magazine deal set to dwarf all others, Hollywood heavyweights and part-time humanitarians Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have struck a multi-million pound deal with Hello! for the first pictures of their newborn twins.
The glossy weekly refused to comment on the agreement this morning, but confirmed it had secured the world-wide exclusive rights to photos of Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie Pitt and an interview with their superstar parents. The film stars pushed magazine deals to a new financial high when they sold pictures of their first biological daughter Shiloh, to People in the US and Hello! in the UK in June 2006.
“This is one of the publishing sensations of the decade - Brad and Angelina are the dream couple of the glossy magazine world and we expect to triple our circulation because of the public’s fascination and interest in the couple and their children.”
The magazine is rumoured to have paid $11 million (£5.5 million) for the photos and has brought its publication date forward to August 4 to capitalise on the coup.
This morning, the magazine fired a warning shot at rival media outlets, sending a letter from its lawyers threatening legal action if publishers tried to use its exclusive pictures or interview.

Ligaya, it sounds like this guy/gal who wrote bad the JPs needs serious rehab, and anger management. Brad & Jen have moved on to more important things. There is always a positive side of things, apparently he/she looks for the negatives.
