Video footage of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the SAG Awards

January 26, 2009 by Sherry

As always, whether they win or not, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are very popular on the red carpet, so there is always a nice amount of video footage from their events.

Here, Angelina Jolie talks kids with Entertainment Tonight. I’m sure she would be happy to just talk acting and she must get tired of always being asked the same old questions, but I know that it’s very easy for me to talk endlessly about my kids if someone is asking me about them, so I think it’s just the mom in her. Regardless, she is very gracious in her interview.

I thought it was funny that he thought they had already gone to Japan and Angelina said they were actually heading to Japan the day after the SAG Awards (today). No rest for the Jolie-Pitt family! They’re heading out there for another premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button so we can expect more photocalls and red carpet photos soon!

And that’s what I love about this family. Angelina doesn’t have to go with Brad to Japan. It’s not her movie, it’s his and she doesn’t need to be there to promote it. Fans would be disappointed if she didn’t show up but they would certainly understand. However, they stick together as much as they possibly can, supporting each other. If the kids are being homeschooled now, they don’t have a set schedule to follow and despite the constant arguments as to whether it’s detrimental or not to move them around so much, I think the kids are probably happier to be with both their parents rather than missing whichever one is filming or traveling at any given time.

I also like, in the second half of the video, when Brad acknowledges how nice it is for both he and Angie to be honored by these nominations together.

More video below the cut!

Lisa Rinna was a bit overly star-struck which is understandable but also unprofessional, and I have to give kudos to Brad and Angelina who looked a bit uncomfortable but tried their best to carry the “interview”.

If Lisa looks at this she’s probably going to be thinking, “Oh jeez, what the heck did I do?!”

Meanwhile, E! did an interview that seemed to irritate both of them. Angelina mentioned her clothing criteria lately is comfort but Giuliana basically went on and on and ON about personal things rather than talking about the work they’ve done, the work for which they had been nominated.

Angie kind of laughed uncomfortably and even said outright that it seemed like “an odd moment for this” when she was asked what Brad has taught her about life and she was right. At an awards event, you expect to be asked about working on your movie. And they probably expect even the repetitive questions about how on earth they get ready and look so fantastic with six kids at home. But I’m sure Angie didn’t expect to be asked some sort of earth-shattering question about the depth of her relationship with Brad. Annoying!

When it was Brad’s turn to deal with Giuliana, he tried his best to be evasive, even saying (after she asked him the same question, what Angie had taught him) that he’d like to move on to the next question and saying it was impossible to be deep with the “glam cam” showing close-ups of what he was wearing (being “undressed” by the “glam cam” was how he put it). Then he tried to skip over it by talking about the work but he didn’t really get his groove back – he did have some very nice things to say about Mickey Rourke and Taraji as well, which is always great to hear.

And just for fun, here’s a video that a fan put together of a whole TON of photos of Brad and Angelina on the SAG red carpet, set to Maroon 5’s “Wake Up Call”. Very nice!

I completely agree with you, Sherry. Who else gets asked what the kids were doing while they were getting dressed or what they have learned from their significant other? I don’t blame them for being a little avoidant, and not everyone even walks the red carpet. During the show I kept mentally noting all of those who didn’t like Meryl Streep, Sally Fields, etc. The First Amendment should not be an excuse for rudeness and journalists and fans alike need to remind themselves that these celebrities don’t belong to us or owe us. They have a right to some privacy like everyone else. I think they are gracious on the red carpet for all they have to endure including pretty regular jet lag!

check EXTRA’s interview with angelina. it’s so sweet and loving! angie says she really wants brad to win an oscar because you root for people you love and deeply care about!

  3. angela says:

thanks for the video Sherry. :)
since they’re going to Japan, i was wondering if they would do stop over and visit mad’s birth country cambodia or pax’s vietnam?

  4. mélodie says:

dhc: it’s exactly what i think: it must be boring for them; they go out to promote a movie and the only questions are about the kids, love etc… but they always answer with smile!

    BTW, it’s great for fans!

angela: i thought the same thing: after the twins’s birth, they said they’ll go to asia! maybe they’ll take some days “off” to visit cambodia or vietnam.

i love when angie said they travel so much that it’s “easy” for them.

  5. kim says:

I know these are entertainment shows, but really they need to be more prepared, did they even watch the movies that are up for awards. I really wish they would stop asking them such personal questions and stick to professional ones they always talk more and you find out more stuff that way. this is so frustrating you want to hear them talk and then the interviewer just screws it up.

  6. Neela says:

I think Brad and Angie have been very patient with the RC interviewers, especially those from E! Brad and Angie did their best to steer these short interviews toward a talk about their work, but hey, they do eventually relent, so, I wish they would be given some slack about needing to show that they care. They do care about their work, which is what they want and should be able to talk about, not their personal life which should not be relevant to these interviews. These aren’t hour-long sitdown interviews. These are drive-by interviews, and their at an awards show, wherein their work is being recognized, hence, it should be their work being asked about.

  7. Neela says:

^^^ grammatical correction: “and THEY’RE at an awards show”

  8. Neela says:

    Sorry, one more …

I think Brad and Angie strive to be taken seriously that is why I also think they want to talk about their work. I don’t think they’re dense; they’re well-aware of their fame (in the pulchritudinous and mainstream sense), which could be a hindrance to their image as serious actors. If RC interviewers are trying to extricate a depth and substantial response from either Brad or Angie, why not ask them about what they learned from their characters or something more imaginative and less invasive than how they have made each other better people.

  9. Neela says:

under mod: one more … brad and angie want to be taken seriously for their craft and work, so they want to talk about their work. rc interviewers need to be more imaginative and relevant with their questions.

  10. mysmichelle says:

Same questions everytime. I agree don’t any of these interviewers have any imagination. And at least tie your questions to a plug for the individuals movie. Very sad people get paid to do interviews that suck

  11. kim says:

I find when interviewers ask them normal questions, they sometimes throw in cute little stories about the kids all on their own. That’s why they need to stick to the professional question. I would love to know did AJ or Brad watch any of the other movies nominated, or how about a nice easy “what was the last movie you watched?” question. Or what is your next humanitarian project?, or even better what was the best moment for you in filming this movie, what was the funnest? etc…. I put this stuff down just in case any of those terrible interviewers or production people from the shows read this site, they really need to get a clue.

  12. Neela says:

^^^amen, Kim. I hope those interviewers would get a chance to see your questions. I agree that they don’t need to be prodded for personal info. They do throw in little personal stories in there with the non-invasive questions.

  13. gena says:

I admire them, don’t know how they stomach it. But guess like Angie told Madd once, Mommy’s going to work. So they have to work. It is true, they didn’t ask Kate about her kids or relationship with hubby. They feel that fans want to know about Brad and Angie’s personal lives more then the films. Which is a shame.

  14. Sarita says:

The other funny thing is how Brad and Angie seem to have a set of “talking points” that they use interview after interview–set phrases, etc, that they try to always bring it all back to (sorta like politicians who try to stay “on message”). I can’t imagine having to maintain that kind of composure (ie, looking interested as you repeat the same words for the hundredth time).

  15. Anne says:

I absolutely adore Brad and Angie and I think it is shame that every interview that they do now focuses on that. The E interview was just pathetic. I felt uncomfortable watching it that I had to change the channel. I feel so bad for them. so called Journalist today need to do some research about their interviewees and come prepared with some good questions. Those girls just look really silly. Did you all see holly hunter’s interview where she said that she does not discuss her twins?

  16. Mary Ann says:

Sarita, kind of reminds me of the news people on CNN, keep going over and over the same stories for hours. I agree with Kim these interview people need to take a course. My hats off to the Jolie-Pitts, they work darn hard and travel around so much. And where one goes, the other goes, and of course the children go.

  17. Neil says:

I have said it before and I’ll say it again, why don’t some of these interviewers get a clue and at least open with ONE OR A FEW questions that are close to Angie and/or Brad’s heart? New Orleans, refugees etc? You know, just so they and we aren’t left rolling our eyes and wondering about the intelligence of some of these people.

  18. Passerby says:

As I was watching the interview with Lisa Rinna I noticed the cute gestures Brad does. Like when they come in he grabs her hand and pulls her up and when they leave Angie is holding tight to Brad’s hand. That’s basically answers the questions about their personal lives that they are in love and will be forever and ever. So there is no need to ask personal questions.

And whether the kids are happy or not? well look at them. Do they look happy? If they do then the kids are doing fine. Like back at golden globes 2007 Angie didn’t appear happy because somebody in her family was not well. No need to ask questions. Its all in the body language.

What we can’t tell from the body language is questions about the films and their other works so ask questions about that.

(AH! My english teacher would kill me with all the run on sentences and incorrect grammar I used. But atlas its the internet. =])

  19. KJ says:

That was a horrible interview by E. A lot of people thought Giuliana was out of her league and inapproriate with her questions. I read a lot of comments from E regarding the interview and everyone slammed Giuliana and thought the interview was very awkward. I normally like her but she needs some training for the red carpet. It made Angie and Brad seem to be rude when they were just trying to direct the questions back to their work. :)

  20. After what I’ve heard about the E! interview (I’ve decided against watching it myself, as I don’t want to support interviewers who make them uncomfortable), I don’t blame Angie and Brad one single bit for snubbing Ryan Seacrest at the Globes, if in fact it was an intentional snub.

I also won’t blame them a bit if they decide to stop granting interviews to E! As much as we all love hearing about the kids, there is a time and a place for reporters to ask questions about them, and the RC is NOT that place. As other pittwatchers have been said, at events like the SAGS, reporters should be asking them about their movies, not their kids.

I have also noticed that Angie doesn’t seem to like it when reporters ask her personal questions in interviews about her humanatarian work, and I don’t blame her! That’s also not the time and place to be asking about the kids.

I mean, when that CNN reporter was interviewing Angie after/during (I forget which) her visit to Iraq, she had no business asking Angie to confirm her then-rumored pregnancy! An interview about the situation in Iraq is definitely NOT the time for personal questions, and I’m glad Angie put that reporter in her place!

As for visiting Cambodia or Vietnam…Maybe they’ll visit both!

  21. gena says:

I agree that the interview by TBS of Angie was a good interview but Brad’s interview with the same station but different guy was really silly! Brad was voted best dress on TV Guide fashion police and Lisa just lost it with Brad. She was in awe interviewing Angie and Brad. I bet this makes Angie and Brad laugh. They are so down to earth and do not feel like they are royalty at all. They are just a mom and dad enjoying their kids and their lives. They are so cute together.
Off subject, saw preview of “Not Into You”. Jen looks out place with the other actresses. Thought Jennifer Connelly was in it also.

  22. Lou says:

This is not about the interview on ET or E! but I found this photo of Angelina and Brad – I don’t know if someone has posted it or the one similar to this one, if this does not say – This man loves this woman – I dont’t know what does.

  23. isacutie says:

Kind of offtopic but I’ve seen some negative write ups about Brad’s response about fame and promoting films when he was at that Newsweek Oscar roundtable. This is just another example of how media can really spin quotes to make them sound negative. Among the quotes are:

“This publicity machine is out of control. It’s everything we didn’t sign up for.”

“There’s this whole other entity that you get sucked into. You have to go and sell your wares.

“It’s something I never made my peace with. Somehow you’re not supporting your film if you don’t get on a show and talk about your personal life.

“It has nothing to do with why I do this.”

And now some are saying that Brad doesn’t want to promote his films. But I think what he is saying is that the way media spins the publicity, they don’t ask about the film. Rather they would rather talk about the personal lives of the stars of the film. Listening to and reading the various press conferences these two have had to sit through to promote their films, it’s almost always that they are asked more about their personal life and their children and some other silly questions than about the film they are promoting. And I think that’s what Brad is saying that he doesn’t like about the press run for the films, not that he doesn’t want to promote his films.

  24. dhc says:

Thanks Rayna for the link. That was a nice interview even though he did throw in a question about the kids at the end. I was even more irritated with E! last night when they took out excerpts from their interviews with Angelina and Brad and presented them as though they volunteered the personal information. They played up all the personal answers and made it seem as if E! was triumphant! I think I, too, will boycott the show from now on. You can get more honest and up-to-date information right here. Thank you Sherry.

  25. kim says:

the TBS interviews were really good, I even liked the way he interviewed Brad like he didn’t know who he was.

  26. TL uncool J says:

THERE ARE NEW PICS OF KNOX AND VIV AT JAPAN AIRPORT TODAY!

  27. mysmichelle says:

very nice interview that TBS did Rayna now that’s how it should be done. He had studied and had background info on her film, he asked the question about what her favorite movies were giving her the chance to plug Brad’s film cool and the picture Lou thank you so much for posting that – it brough tears to my eyes. How I wish I could find that kind of love.

  28. angela says:

TL uncool J, link please. :)

  29. angela says:

thanks for the info TJ. :)
i found a link. here it is:

oh my! both twins looked a lot like Shiloh when she was still a baby! so adorable! hahaha.

  30. irma says:

angela & TL uncool thanks a lot for the pictures of the family. OMG, the twins are so cute & looks like Pax had a haircut. OMG, the children are so cute. Happy for them. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

  31. angela says:

    thanks again Tj.

i love the photos. everybody’s there.

  32. TL uncool J says:

    i know! all, 8 of them!!!! 6 kids plus 2 parents!!!!lol!

  33. isacutie, I completely agree with you! I’m actually GLAD that Brad said, “It’s something I never made my peace with. Somehow you’re not supporting your film if you don’t get on a show and talk about your personal life.” Hopefully that will quiet down the h8ters who love to complain about the fact that Brad and Angie talk about wanting privacy and yet talk about their personal lives.

Going by Brad’s comment, it sounds like he’d actually rather NOT have to discuss his personal life everytime he has to promote a movie. Unfournately, it seems like most interviews refuse to respect that.
