Weekend flashback: Angelina Jolie talks about Maddox and balancing life

I didn’t bother with the traditional Friday Flashback this week because we had news back on Friday. I do enjoy looking back on the old days though, so I figured I’d end the weekend with a flashback anyway.
PittWatch reader Kimmy posted a link to these videos yesterday and I had to share them with everyone. They’re from back in the day when Angelina Jolie only had Maddox and had no idea that she’d end up with Brad Pitt and five more children. Angelina was visiting The Ellen Show to promote her film Taking Lives but they ended up talking about Maddox a lot.
In it Angelina talks about raising Maddox and includes a cute story where he was so excited about learning to use the potty that he stopped greeting her with “Mama” and instead greeted her with “Pee-pee-poo-poo?”
I also had a good laugh when Ellen asked if Angelina stayed for the after-parties when the Oscar Awards ended – Angelina said she went for 25 minutes then left to go to In-N-Out Burger because she was hungry. She went on to relay the type of conversation that she had with other diners who were there. Somehow I doubt she gets to chit chat with people at In-N-Out these days!

What strikes me the most about seeing Angelina Jolie and Ellen is her sense of humor. We all know that Brad has a hilarious dry sense of humor but Angelina seems like the kind of person who just loves to laugh. Every time she broke into a fit of giggles it made me laugh too.

I love the video! As I watched it, I kept thinking, “how can anyone NOT like this woman?!” I love how she sounded just like any other proud mom you might encounter.
She is indeed a devoted mother. First, it was Maddox and later the whole bunch of six kids. There’s no one like her. I really adore her.
Sherry! thanks for posting this video that my friend had in youtube!.. yeah, Angie is a fun-loving Mommy! I get this feeling that, that’s why she will be quitting pretty soon is because of this moments she had with her kids.. I mean, the “Pee-pee-poo-poo” thing is really a precious memory that you will only have once! just love her so much!
what is the toy Shi is looking at?? is it a big kaleidoscope?? but no, kaleidoscope is not round it’s like a tube, like a telescope.. hhmmm.. really wondering about that toy! so cute! she seem so engross with that, how cute!

Melanie, as far as i know, AJ was really supposed to carry the torch for the Olympic games but due to a film shooting it didn’t push through.
Hi everyone, I love reading all you have to say on the Jolie-Pitt family. My hair just stood up reading one of our magazines here in the UAE, it’s called Ahlan. It portrays Brad as Angies savour. It alls about how since Brad came into her life she has adopted Mad, and the other kids, how he has tamed her and since he is in her life she is know working as a UN ambassador, his 5 rules to keep her tame. What utter B$@% S#@%. It really get my back up reading all this about her.

Angelina Jolie cancels Olympic torch relay participation

ATHENS (AFP) — Hollywood star Angelina Jolie cancelled her participation in the Athens Olympic torch relay because she has to re-shoot movie scenes of her latest film production, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees(UNHCR) said in a press release.
Jolie, an honorary UNHCR ambassador, was scheduled to symbolically carry the Olympic flame for the world’s refugees on the eve of the Games’ August 13 opening ceremony.
“Ms. Jolie was requested to be available in the US from August 10 onwards in connection with the re-shooting of a series of movie scenes,” the UNHCR said.
The movie their talking about is Mr. and Mrs. Smith!
UNHCR said that Angie would be detained by director Doug Liman who is putting together extra scenes for thriller Mr And Mrs Smith, the movie that all of us here in pittwatch will never forget! the movie that started it all.. 
I really liked these, but they made me a little sad. She was a little different then. More uninhibited and more free. Her life changed so much since then. I would say her life changed in all positive ways but that loss of freedom and openness is a downer. I think she’s much more restrained now because she has to be to protect their privacy.
Good interview. Angelina clearly states that she wanted to adopt other children as a single mother, yet there are some who claim that it’s because of Brad that she now has 6 children. Clearly she would have adopted more children without him, the only difference is that she decided to have biological children with him. As for people getting upset about what others say about Angelina, that’s just a wasted emotion. The fact is people who claim to dislike her aren’t going to like her no matter what. They don’t want to know the truth, they just want to hate. As a fan I tend to ignore the negative OPINIONS, but when they make statements to which the facts can be substantiated, I will challenge them whether they want to know or not; It’s their choice to remain in ignorance after that.
Sherry, I was just at WalMart doing some shopping and caught a glimpse of an article in Star. I am urging ALL Angie and Brad fans NOT to buy the December 3rd issue of that magazine. In just one paragraph, they claim after years of extestive investagating, they can prove that their relationship is a farce, as is all the good work they both do for their individual causes. After reading that one paragraph, I threw the magazine on a counter. BAN STAR MAGAIZINE ISSUE OF DECEMBER 3, 2009. Thank God for you, pittwatch.com and People Magazine, where fans can get the real, honest scoop on Brangalina. Thanks, Sherry. I will be interested in what you have to say, though, regarding this.

Sherry, usually I can’t view the video’s but this time they worked and I just was so thrilled to see how happy and funny she is. Loved those two video’s.
Helen, my daughter buys that magazine every week and of course I look at it. I am not sure what the date was but there was a story about Brad and Angie and that their life is a complete sham. And that there is a book coming out in December that will blow their relationship into the water. I also was very angry when I read it. I know they say they don’t pay attention to these stories, but I think they must know of them, and if it hurts us the fans, can you image how hurt they must be inside.
I ended up at this interview yesterday and I can’t remember how I got there. It may have been linked from a comment here. Sorry if it’s already been posted. I’d never seen it. Awesome.

When I see her in interviews, she is so warm, funny and nice. Yet she is such a good and versitle actress that people who only see her in her films think that she is like the characters she plays. She can play gentle and she can play strong – her role in Taking Lives is a good example of that. In the last set of scenes in the farmhouse, she went from a fragile, vunerable woman to a strong woman who was able to fight/defend herself and save herself at the ened. As a woman when I see Angie in films, I feel empowered. And when I watch her in her interviews I admire and like her.
Brangelina Book Author Says Star Published False Quotes

Ian Halperin, author of that explosive Brangelina book Star wrote about this week, says the magazine published false quotes. Star magazine printed a feature on the sham relationship between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The magazine claims Brad is an alcoholic, the two have physical fights, and Angelina still has dalliances with women and so on and so forth.

“I was stunned,” Halperin tells Usmagazine.com. “I never spoke to [the magazine],” says the bestselling author. “In fact,” Halperin adds, “I finished writing the book late last night which was hours after the Star story broke! I urge people to wait until the real excerpts from the book are published to get the real story of what is actually in my book.”
Halperin may be a bit disgruntled and think (falsly) that people won’t buy his book since certain parts were leaked to the press. But fear not, Ian. We think your book will have quite the audience indeed.
Ellen’s interviews are so funny. The first interview with Angie was for Alexander and that was funny too. Ellen was trying to pair her with Colin F. And I think Angie recently divorced BB on that show. So, she did not make the Olympic run. I guess that’s okay because of MMS.
binme- I agree! Not only is that story a load of s*&t, but they got somethings very wrong. Namely that Angelina adopted Maddox after she met Brad and that she started working with the UNHCR after she met Brad. Angie adopted Maddox in 2002, about three years before Brad came into the picture, when she was still with Billy Bob. Also, she was working as a Goodwill ambassador for the UNHCR long before she met Brad. Heck, she even speaks about it in the interview in this post, and it’s mentioned elsewhere in the interview that Mad was two at the time. Therefore, Angie has been working for the UNHCR since at least 2003!
Anyway, if anyone saved Angelina, it was Maddox!
Mary Ann- Actually, I believe they’ve said that they really do ignore the tabs, and have indicate that most of the time they don’t know of the stories. They’ve also indicated that they don’t care what the tabs say about them.
Anyway, is there really a tell-all book coming out next month? I hope not!
Okay, I stand corrected. I believe there IS a biography of Angie coming out soon. I just hope it’s not a nasty one, though!

I, personally, don’t mind about the tabz (Star, In Touch or any tabz).. they could all say all they want to say but the fact still remain, Angie and Brad is still so much in-love with each other… their relationship withstand all these issues for 5 years now, so they could still stand against it for the many years to come; another it’s clearly seen that their family is their priority and their happy with that..(wait, am i right about the year thing?? hehe..)
OT: is Leonardo Di Caprio the one who will portray Maurizio Gucci together with Angie playing Patrizia Reggiani in up coming Gucci film?? if that’s true, it’s another tandem to await for.. I also like Leo in his film, can’t forget Titanic..
I read that the writer of the book coming out said that Star’s article is false and that he never talked to the magazine. He just finished his book this week and it is not what the magazine is saying. I don’t think it is as negative as Star is saying.
IMDB.com is claiming on The Tourist is to go into production in February, and it is on both Jolie and Depp’s page that they are staring in it!!!! nice!!

Exclusive: Brangelina Book Author Slams Star Magazine’s Cover Story

Ian Halperin, author of the upcoming Brangelina Exposed, has another expose to share: Star magazine’s new cover story about his new book is a total fabrication.
“I was stunned,” Halperin tells Usmagazine.com of Star’s spread, which alleges inside access to his tome and teases details about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s “secret life of binge drinking, mind games, drugs, lovers and more.
“I never spoke to [the magazine],” says the bestselling author. “In fact,” Halperin adds, “I finished writing the book late last night which was hours after the Star story broke!”
Among Star’s claims: “Brad contantly rips into Angie for her birdlike eating habits and her superstrict parenting style.” To numb the pain, Pitt supposedly has become a “very bad drunk,” while Jolie has taken a secret female lover near their chateau in France.

Angie is great in interviews – its impossible not to like her, because then we see the real Angie and not the woman the media tries to show.

Gena , Star magazine got the lies from his website not from the book . They assumed since he wrote those vile lies on the website they would be in the book also. This man is worse than all the tabs combined . He has accused Angie of bestiality, incest , current drug use etc
I hope she IS using a hands-free device (i.e. head phones) if she’s talking on the phone. Otherwise, she is in violation of California law, which, from what I’ve read, recently passed a law that you can not talk on a cellphone while driving unless you’re using a hands-free device.

Thanks for this amazing video, Sherry! I had a good laugh while watching it. Angie talked so openly about Mad. It just shows how much she loves this little boy. By the time this interview was made he was 2 1/2 years old and now he´s already 8 years old. How the time flies! All those beautiful little anecdotes Angie shared are just funny. Like the one about celebrating the potty! I couldn´t stop laughing. I found that so hilarious. And also that potty-dance thing was funny. I guess that since then there´s been a lot of potty-dancing in the Jolie-Pitt household. Pretty soon – maybe in a few months – Shi will sure start to potty-train Knox and Viv. LOL. Also that story that Mad greeted his mum by saying ´Pee-pee-poo-poo´ instead of ´Mama´ was hilarious. If Mad ever sees this interview he sure will have a good laugh. And so will the other kids.
