Pittwatch.com: Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Gossip

Welcome home, Knox and Vivienne!

by Sherry on July 19th, 2008

Despite paparazzi up on the rooftops and horrible, scary rumors of paparazzi renting helicopters in a desperate attempt to capture the first photos of Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt on the sly, all the people behind the cameras were foiled. Angelina Jolie, Knox, and Vivienne were discharged from the Lenval hospital and arrived home safely.

Well thank goodness for that, because thoughts of paparazzi chasing down a helicopter departure immediately reminded me of Princess Di being chased for a photo op right before she died.

The family - and presumably Brad Pitt was with them - left in the dark hours, heading out at about 4 am on Saturday morning. Rather than leaving in a helicopter, which was how she arrived, she slipped out by car. According to People, an observer said, “We saw the cars and we thought it was her but we didn’t see anything.”

That’s so wonderful to know that they were able to leave quietly. My theory was that they would slip her down to the emergency room and transport them out by ambulance. The idea would be that no one would think it was Angelina or the Jolie-Pitt twins, that it would just look like an ambulance heading out on an emergency call.

They did, however, elude the press by slipping out the back way. You can read the full story of their well-organized departure here.

Dr. Sussmann, Angelina’s doctor was the one who broke the news to the disappointed paparazzi, saying, “You can go home. The story is over.”

What a relief to know that Angelina Jolie, Knox, and Vivienne are safely at home at their chateau.

I’m so glad they’ve got to go home. It’s probably so much better for them all right now i bet they’re all feeling really happy and exhausted! Love them all.

While browsing rag mag covers in the grocery check out line I spied a picture of Shi on a cover that morphed into a sort of Jon Benet Ramsey via photoshop. It was sickening. Shame, shame shame. Anyway, glad they were able to stick it to the paps. Yay!

I am SO happy they were able to get out unnoticed.

One thing that’s been striking me about the life of mega stars like Brad and Angelina lately: The way they live is a bit like the chase scenes they film in the movies ! Like in the movies they make, in their real lives they constantly have to be on the lookout for ‘the bad guys’ (the paps) and make frantic wild escapes to elude them.

The level of adrenaline must be pretty high — and very much like what we see in the movies.

Obviously it must be a major drag. Actually, the media attention surrounding Brad, Angelina and the kids has probably reached the highest proportions around any celebrity, ever, on such a constant basis that is. It must be very freaky for them.

I was glad to hear that they made it home safe. I’m sure the other little ones were so glad to see Mom back home that morning. I had read somewhere that Brad’s parents had flown in. This must be a really special time for them all. I hope Angie invites her Dad to enjoy in this celebration too. Family needs to be together. The children deserve all their grandparents around them.

good for them for outwitting the paps and gl to them to keeping pap helicopters away from their home and off their property! wouldn’t it be great if celebs like brad and angelina could some how make the obtrusive media pay for the extra security they are forced to hire! Their kids are very blessed to have the family they do but what a shame they will never be able to enjoy liitle league or pee-wee football, soccer etc.!!

I’m so glad that Brad, Angie and the twins could finally get home safely. I read in a local newspaper here that Madd, Zahara, Pax and Shi went to visit Angie and the twins in hospital and each of them gave Mom Angie a flower! I don’t know if it was true, but if it was it must be one of the happiest moments in Angie’s life. It was so sweet!

    Did anyone read about that?

Bet Angie is happy to be with ALL of her family ALL at the same time again! Hope she remembers to still be cautious for for at least 3 more weeks. To let her wound start to heal properly!

I’m french, and as a fan I’ve always thought from the beginning that Brad and Angie should have not chosen France to give birth to the twins for the main reason that our paparazzi are at least as harsh as the american ones. BTW do you know people that the main paparazzi agencies in L.A, like x17 online and their kinds are ALL run by french people? Unfortunately if Brad and Angie wanted some privacy in France they failed for paparazzi in here are particularly mean, invasive and have no respect for anyone.

Fan from Vietnam, I also saw the story about the children visiting and each giving her a flower and my heart melted. I also have a vision of them all having a sleepover last night. Now they can start just being happy everyday away from the paps. I can’t wait to see the pictures, but I do not want to see any shots of them that the paps might take from a helicopter. This is their life not a circus.

Kari, I’ve been thinking about this for a long time too. Can anyone think of any current celebrity who’s under as much media assault as the JPs? Britney Spears & Paris Hilton at their worst came close. I still remember the sea of shark-like paps surrounding their cars, banging on the windows, climbing on the hood. But it wasn’t 24/7/365 for them like it is for the Jolie-Pitts.

Maybe it was like this for Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton when they got together - I don’t remember if each of them were married. It was a huge scandal but there weren’t as much paparazzi & tabloids then as now. I’ve seen documentaries & the Beatles were subjected to this kind of hysteria. Crooners lie Frank Sinatra. Marilyn Monroe. I think the Dionne Quintuplets & Shirley Temple too. Baby Jessica who fell into that narrow hole. And for a sadder reason, the Lindbergh baby.

Still, in terms of number of paparazzi & tabloid media, the entitlement they feel to invade private & physical space, hours stalked, advanced technology, it seems to me that the JPs have it the worst of all celebrities of all time. What do you think?

God, I am so glad that the paps were fooled like that. Total humilliation. Bravo Brad and Angie.
Now, regarding the babies, I’m happy that they finally got home safe and the whole familly is now out of the world’s eye. I bet the other litle ones missed their mommy very much and it was probably a very seweet “welcome back, mommy”!:) God, cand you imagine the quantity of love in that house now? :p As big as the property:))
I was thinking about something funny today? When she had shiloh, angie said that it was a liitle bid difficult when she breastfed, in the sense that she cannot sit still very well. Imagine her now, with two! :))))
Can you post a link to the site where you read the news about the kids bringing flowers to angie? If this is true, it’s the sweetest thing ever :)

  • Mary Ann
    Jul 20, 2008 at 4:09 pm

darl, I agree with what you say about the kids never having the joy of joining any youth teams. This is so much a big part of growing up. Could you image the uproar if Madd was to join little league, his poor team would not stand a chance, it would be like a three ring circus. Kari, do you ever wonder why the whole world is so into this family? I would be interested to read other thoughts on this. I also hope that Angie’s brother James is able to talk Angie into extending an invitation to Jon Voight. The house is certainly big enough and with Brad’s family there maybe they could have a chance to try and talk things out. There would be enough other people around that Angie would not have to entertain him 24/7.

Lara, I posted this on the “Brad emotional” thread:

    Jul 17, 2008 at 12:45 pm

I’ve no idea if this is true, it’s a sweet, sweet story anyway:

Angelina Jolie Gets Flowers From Children
By Adam Nutburn, July 17 2008

Staff at the Nice, France, hospital where Angelina Jolie gave birth Saturday were left with lumps in their throats — after the Hollywood superstar’s children presented her with flowers.

Accompanied by beaming-father Brad Pitt, Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and 2-year-old Shiloh each handed mom a single flower.

“It was a blessed sight,” one staffer at the Fondation Lenval tells Us Weekly magazine. “I had a lump in my throat.”

Tomb Raider star Jolie, 33, got more support from her family Thursday when her brother James Haven popped by for a visit.

Meanwhile, Angelina has received so many bouquets of flowers during her hospital stay, staffers had to store them in her security guards’ rooms.

    http://www.showbizspy.com/showbiz/07172008/angelina-jolie-gets-flowers-from-children

The sad thing is Star has Shiloh on its cover with the same story except leaving out her sister & brothers - Zahara, Pax & Maddox. As if they didn’t give their mom flowers too, as if they didn’t exist.

    Mary Ann,

I don’t really agree that Jon Voigt should visit. I read some things on the web (can’t remember where I found them anymore… I think I googled Angie’s mother’s name and it came up) which talked about the truly disturbing and awful things Jon Voigt did to Marcheline when Angie and James were growing up. The problems Jon and Angelina have are not just your typical child - parent fight, they run very deep and at a fundamental level. He pretty much disowned his kids, except for sending them minimal child support payments, but Angelina was able to work her way up into Hollywood without his help. Angie has said, your family is the family you earn and I totally agree with her. Blood ties aren’t everything. Sometimes in fact, they make things worse because you expect to have a bond with someone but they don’t reciprocate, so it’s very painful.

I think the family is so famous because what they are doing is truly pushing the envelope in terms of Hollywood celebrity behavior. They are really working towards social change in their way and they’ve done it wish such style that it’s won everyone over ! Now everyone wants to adopt a multicultural family ! They are basically behaving with their lives the way socially and morally we all think we should, but we make excuses for ourselves like, oh it’s too hard, it would never work… But the beautiful thing and the great thing is that they’ve shown that it can work, and beautifully. Also on a more superficial front, they are both drop dead gorgeous of course… so we are all curious to see what their progeny will look like… But it’s especially awesome to see a family emerge that has a kid from Africa, a kid from Vietnam, a kid from Cambodia…and to see them morph into this beautiful, unified family that actually LOOKS like they belong together… it’s an amazing thing.

That’s why I got fascinated anyway. And you all?

Why is the world so into the Jolie-Pitts?

The perfect media-hype storm. Take Angie – the whole of her. Take Brad. Each of them attracts super-media attention by themselves. Each of them the sexiest & most beautiful & talented in the universe. Put them together. Spicy, sizzling hot, caliente – sex on a stick. The tabloids have made lots of money on them already, but they smelled blood & mega-sales in their invented “dark homewrecker-All American Girl-All American Boy” triangle. The tabloids whip up a frenzy about everything Angelina & Brad - with Angelina being designated “bad girl.” It’s because Angie & Brad are the parents that their children - especially their biological children Shiloh, Vivienne Marcheline & Knox Leon – are at the center of an almost mob-like hysteria.

There have been articles about why we obsess about celebrities’ kids. Basically, it makes us feel closer to the celebrities since we have kids too.

The people who buy/read the tabloids don’t seem to notice or care that the JP stories are recycled & repeated over & over again, often contradicting themselves.

Whereas all their true fans – like us - enjoy & appreciate accurate coverage & photos of their family and their activities, and support them when we can by donating to their causes, watching their movies, posting comments in blogs by posting the truth & exposing the lies, etc.

My track record: 5 of 12 under mod.

I saw photos Maddox in a cute blue soccer outfit playing a game. He must have been 4 or 5. Conner & Isabella had no problem playing team sports. But most of the time we never saw their pics. So I don’t think Suri & the JP kids will be able to do that. Maybe they can play team sports but only in elite teams made up of supr-famous kids.

I am so happy for them that they are home now. Brad must be in seventh heaven. Some comments after the article were nasty. Anyway, majority are good. I don’t know about the flowers because Us Weekly (is a tabloid headed by Janice Mean) a very unreliable mag. If this is true, that is so sweet.

Lara, I also say, bring Grandpa Jon into the fold~~I do not judge because I do not know the whole story or them for that matter but I do not blame him for some of the things he said about Angelina to the press. God love her, she did do some crazy things in her younger days that would have made me cringe as a parent. But she has lost her mom and I believe it would be healthy for all involved to heal that relationship!!

  • ligaya
    Jul 20, 2008 at 11:22 pm

I agree with Kari about Jon Voight. What I remember Angelina saying is that she & Jon had made contact, started talking & that they were working on a relationship as adults - not as father & daughter. I thought it was a HUGE step given that Angie had banished Jon from her children’s & her life. There’s the old saw about learning to crawl before walking, and walking before running. Some things just can’t be rushed – like good soup & fine wine.

Angie’s just given birth, just gotten home, has not one but 2 newborns to nurse & care for, plus the 4 musketeers, James, and Brad’s parents. They’ll be a tremendous help, but still Ange will expend emotional energy on them. This might not be the best time to force/rush Angie for a total reconciliation. Angie knows what’s best for her and at what pace. And IMO, Jon had best make peace with Angelina for herself, not just to gain access to the grandkids & play nice grandpa.

    @Lovester:

Is this the same Megan Fox who is on record saying she WANTS be like Angie?

-Who has tattoos, with a somewhat similar saying, in same places as Angie?

-Who has also gone so far as to apply injections into her lips to make them look like Angie’s??

    That Megan Fox???
Have you ever seen Single White Female?? ;)

  • ligaya
    Jul 21, 2008 at 7:21 am

I don’t agree with Darl’s opinion. I don’t see how Marcheline’s death would lead to embracing the man who abandoned her & their 2 young children – leaving them to scrape by while he lived the high life. Marcheline, the woman who sacrificed her dream of acting to care for Angelina & James while Jon followed *his* dream to success. Marcheline who had to bear the pain of seeing her husband on the Oscar red carpet with his new lover. Those are all cringe-worthy to me.

And accusing Angie of being emotionally unstable in front of the WHOLE WORLD on video that will live on forever? When he was barely in her life? When Maddox’s adoption was at stake? Speaking of judging, who was HE to judge? Definitely more than cringe-worthy.

People don’t get a free pass just because they’re parents. They’re not infallible – they make mistakes that hurt and sometimes cause serious damage. They’re just as prone to addictions as their children, and they often pass on their addictions & other destructive behavior. They can be abusive sexually, physically & mentally. Mothers kick out their daughters rather than believe that their husbands/boyfriends are sexually abusing the daughters. Parents sell their children to sex traffickers in exchange for drugs. Parents kick their sons & daughters out because their gay or lesbian. Sometimes it’s politics – my dad kicked me out because I mildly objected to a white guest in our home saying, “The whole problem started when Abe Lincoln freed the colored.” (That and because I was in the streets protesting the Vietnam War.)

My post on Jon Voight - under mod. (What is that? 6 of 13?)

  • ligaya
    Jul 21, 2008 at 8:06 am

I’d like to know who hasn’t done crazy things in our life, especially in our youth. I think it’d be hard *not* to do crazy things when our frontal lobe which governs judgment isn’t fully developed until we’re about 25 years old. Often, judging something as crazy only means it’s different, unconventional, unfamiliar & out of our experience. Everything ‘crazy/weird’ that Angelina has been accused of has a reasonable explanation. Her knife collecting started at a Renaissance Faire she attended with her mom when she was young – she liked their noble history. Men have knife & gun collections and they aren’t called crazy. It’s only because Angelina is a young, beautiful woman that she’s considered odd. Tattoos have been around for thousands of years around the world – they were considered sacred art. Although for a time in the U.S. tattoos were worn only by sailors, bikers, and criminal-types, it slowly gained popularity (partly because of Angelina) and now 45% of people younger than 35 years old have tattoos.

Angelina freaked some people out when she talked about cutting herself in the past. There’s been a silent epidemic of cutting since at least the 1970s – same with the silent epidemic of teen suicides. We know more about eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia, morbid obesity. All of these behaviors are coping mechanisms to deal with the deep pain these young people feel. Just like teens & adults sometimes cope by abusing alcohol & other drugs, teen girls & young women (some boys) cut themselves because the pain of the cuts temporarily makes them forget their real pain. And endorphins are released by the brain to areas where the body is damaged, so there is a real, if temporary, relief from the emotional pain.

I’ve said before that I saw Angelina at the 2003 Comic-Con. When Q&A came, instead of long lines of fanboys, there were long lines of young women thanking her for speaking out about cutting herself. They said she literally saved their lives when they found out that they weren’t the only ones and that they could come out of it & survive.

Rita, I don’t think Sherry is censoring my posts. I don’t know how long I’ve visited this blog - couple of years, maybe? I’ve been moderated since the beginning, I’ve accepted it as part of the process. At one time I asked Sherry if it was the length or frequency of my posts or what. She did say that certain words triggered moderation - that’s how I came up with “h8ters.” I’ve defended Sherry 3-4 times when she was accused of being biased in moderating.

I’m doing my countdown for myself as an experiment. You can just skip it. :-)

    Lovester, BlessBrangelina

I actually like Megan Fox, and I think if she keeps going as she is and does not go too far down that whole party road that many in LA do, she will be just as good an actress as AJ. I don’t believe she is a “Single White Female” type. I believe she is young and has not come into her self yet (kind of like AJ at that age). She is a beauty and has similar features to AJ. She will become what she becomes and if she wants to compare her self to AJ, or say she is hotter (she is younger) then way not. Self esteem is a good thing.

megan fox never said she was hotter than angelina. i forgot where i read it from, but it was just some tabloid that fabricated it. no surprise there.

anyway, i’m not into megan either. heh. i share lainey’s point on her, and she just seems like just any other blender girl. when she used to be on hope and faith, i thought she was already beautiful, but then, the plastic surgeries kind of notched down my opinion of her. (i’m more into the likes of ellen page and amanda seyfried.) but she does work in a tough industry, and if she feels good about herself with the cosmetic surgery, then good for her. but for me, i just see her as another blender girl. she’s just so overly made-up. no doubt she is sexy and pretty, but i feel she has more of that centerfold look than the kind of beauty that angelina commands, which is more natural.

but as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. i’m sure megan will come into her own, someday. hopefully, she’ll eventually tire of the superficiality that seems to intoxicate a lot of hollywood starlets … who are more focused on gaining fame than earning respect as an actor.

IMO, saying “I’m hotter than so and so,” isn’t self-esteem, it’s arrogant & tacky. Self-esteem is being confident enough of myself to wait for others to say it.

IMO, Megan Fox is an Angelina wannabe & she’s made herself over to copy Angelina as much as possible. But that’s OK if that’s what she wants to do to get attention for herself and boost her career. I don’t think highly of that tactic as opposed to being an original, but there it is. To me, the genuine original is always better than a copy.

I’m sure a day will come when Angelina won’t be considered by some as hot, beautiful & sexy because she’s past 40. I don’t think hot is equivalent to young, but a lot of people do. I wonder if these under-40 types are going to jump off a cliff when they reach 40.

@Kim, I think Ligaya said it in a MORE direct way for me. I guess sometimes when you try to be cynical it doesn’t always pan out!

Trying to be LIKE someone and then start shouting that you are better than that person makes you look stupid and desperate.
